We stopped by Char'd for dinner before heading to a concert. Though it wasn't busy, we did make reservations ahead of time, which is a super easy and smooth process. There was also lots of street parking nearby as well which was convenient! The restaurant itself has a nice ambiance with dim lighting. Our server was super friendly which we appreciated! As for the food, it was good, but not quite what I expected. We ordered the rajogi and the hand-cut grilled pork ssam. The menu is more modern and not as authentic. I was hoping for more traditional flavors. The kimchi wasn't as tangy or spicy as well. Overall, it's fine for a night out if you're looking for a modern twist on Korean cuisine, but it's not the best or most authentic Korean food I've had.

Great tasting food in a hip and modern with rustic vibe. I love the air plants and flowers at the front with additional permanent succulents in the dining area adding a natural feel. I went with a classic entree with the Beef bulgogi while my group tried other entrees. I got to sample theirs with a few bites and really like the spicy chicken with rice. The kimchi was so good as well and the scallion pancakes. You can't go wrong with edamame for an appetizer. Our server was very helpful, he provided all the food in a timely manner and was very court and answered some of my questions. I was surprised they don't serve dessert, so just a heads up, plan ahead. Their reservation system via open table does not show any abaiapbilities when I tried to reserve, so I called during their open hours in the evening. They charge a $100+ fee on your credit card if you don't show up or cancel within 24 hours of reserving via phone. This would be the first time I come across a business that does this but maybe other places do This as well, so another heads up.

Before I jump into my review, I really wanted to love this place. I did a lot of Yelp and Instagram research prior to visiting Milwaukee and decided to visit Char'd. I visited alone on a Wednesday night. Parking was tricky around the restaurant as it was my first time visiting the area, but you could find street parking as well as park at a parking deck nearby and walk. When I walked in, there were 3 other tables. By 6:45 pm, I was the only person in the restaurant, which I thought was super odd. As soon as I was seated, I was presented with cucumber kimchi, which was absolutely delicious. Knowing that it's a Korean restaurant but in a different city than where I'm form, I asked if they do refills on side dishes and I was told that first refill is FREE, but the next refills will be charged. I noted this and enjoyed my dinner. I got Galaxy Lemonade, Hand-Cut Grilled Pork Ssam, and Pork Kimchi Stew. Lemonade was pretty good and nothing stood too much. Pork Ssam was delicious, but what I was presented was slightly different than what I saw on Yelp pictures. Pork was well seasoned and bit tough, but the sauces and small pickles that came with the dish was amazing. Let's talk about Pork Kimchi Stew. It supposed to come with ramen, rice cake, spam, and dumplings. There was 3 spam pieces, 2 rice cake pieces, and 1 dumpling. Based on the ingredients, this is a sad version of an army stew. As Korean, I've had better army stew in the past that did not cost over $20. This stew isn't worth its price. I was pretty disappointed with this dish. I deliberately ordered two dishes to have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. When I was asking for to-go containers, I brought up the cucumber kimchi refill I never got and asked for to go. The server, who never asked if I'm doing OK until I was done eating, went to kitchen and brought a container full of cucumber kimchi with $5 added to my bill without asking me. If this was a non-work trip dinner where I have to pay the bill on my own, I would have asked the server to take $5 off from the check and take the cucumber container back to the kitchen as I never asked for kimchi to-go. As I specifically asked for the kimchi refill, I wish the server came to ask me to clarify upon the kitchen disagreeing with my request. But there was no communication with me, which was quite disappointing. I now understand some of the low star reviews left on Yelp. I paid 20% tip, but the server didn't deserve that full tip. I left the restaurant quite pissed off. Now I understand why the restaurant was empty while I dined.

Recently visited Char'd on a double date. I walk past the spot all the time, and have been wanting to check it out so I was happy to cross it off my list! We started out with the scallion pancake and the sweet & spicy dumplings--which I'd both recommend you order! These are definitely some of the best potstickers I've ever had, topped with a sauce that seemed like chili oil. The scallion pancake had little pieces of shrimp tucked away, which was a pleasant surprise. We also got a complementary dish of kimchi. For the main entrees, our server recommended all of her favorite dishes to us--and 3/4 of us ended up ordering one of her recommendations. My boyfriend ordered the galbi, and the meat was really flavorful. My friends enjoyed the pork and beef bulgogi (also server recommendations). I ordered the jap chae glass noodles, which have a flavor ever so reminiscent of sweet potato. I had never had anything like them, when it comes to taste and presentation! Our server was very attentive with refilling our waters and checking in on us enough throughout our stay. Come to Char'd when you want to try something new! It'd be a great Third Ward date spot, whether you sit at the bar or have a full meal together.

Another great meal at Char'd! If you are dining here, do not sleep on the dumplings. They are to die for! I went for the spicy squid and pork this time. Spicy, savory, delicious. I also tried the yuzu beez specialty cocktail and really enjoyed it! Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals. The service this visit was a little off. The food came out quickly. But our server was not very present as you would normally expect. Could be an off night. One other thing to note. We had a party of 6. It is not unusual to see a gratuity added for a party our size, and it was. But what was unusual was it was listed on the bill as a "service charge". That was unusual to me so I asked about it and was advised that it was a gratuity. I wasn't upset about it. But I would prefer to see it listed as a gratuity. Regardless, we will be back for the amazing food!

I went to Char'd for a dinner and was seated very quickly. There seems to be fast service in getting your order in and food to the table. However, once the food was placed, service was less attentive. The server was slower with getting water refills and checking in. Overall, the food was delicious. It just leans more towards a "Korean-American" fusion style, rather than a true Korean cuisine. This was a nice place for a casual dinner, but not the best Korean food I've had.

Char'd is such a great sit-down Korean restaurant with a modern vibe - something I haven't seen often. This is the perfect spot to split everything you want from the menu (thanks to our Uber driver for that recommendation). Every dish we had was amazing, and the service was great. Tried: KFC wings, garlic chili shrimp, grilled pork belly Loved: all the food we had. The sauces that came with the grilled pork belly made it so flavorful with all the side accompaniments The KFC wings were fantastic, and definitely the highlight. The garlic chili shrimp was also amazing, and reminded me of a better version of the Panda Express honey walnut shrimp with a spicy kick and not as much sugar Liked: it's easier to walk or Uber unless you come on a weeknight - otherwise street parking can be difficult

I was really excited to go here but was let down. The service was really slow and my fiancé got his meal about 10 minutes before mine, so his stone bowl rice hardened waiting for my food. I got the sweet/sour pork and it was sooo fatty. I had to keep chewing for quite a while and I did not finish this dish or take it home. The sauce was inauthentic as well. Also, they do not give anything for birthdays which was a bummer. On a positive note, it was a nice atmosphere.

Stopped in for valentines this year since they were one of the few places serving a full menu. Food was terrific as always, Korean fusion had a soft spot in my heart before finding Char'd, but it's been taken to a whole new level lately. My fiancé and I love splitting a carafe of Soju as well, it's just the right amount to share. Service for such a busy holiday was excellent, and the mood was perfect. Their KFC wings hold a special place in my heart and I'd highly recommend starting there on your first visit.

My husband and I celebrated his birthday with dinner here this year and it was an overall very nice experience, but the meal didn't live up to prior birthday dinners at Momo Mee, for example. I made reservations a few weeks in advance, though that probably wasn't necessary as the restaurant wasn't completely full when we arrived. We got seated right away and our waitress was very nice and got our orders swiftly. My husband got the Far East cocktail while I did the Yuzu Beez. We both enjoyed our drinks a lot. Mine was sweet and refreshing though got watered down kind of quickly. We started our meal with the shishito cauliflower and Togarashi fries. The cauliflower was amazing! Very flavorful and nicely cooked. The fries, in comparison, were a let down. For fries, they were good, but the Togarashi seasoning was a let down - there was almost no flavor to the fries and even the salt seemed lacking. It also doesn't come with any kind of dipping sauce, but our waitress brought over a gochujang sauce when we asked if they had any hot sauces. The fries do go well with the gochujang. For dinner, I got the tofu sweet glass noodles while my husband got the tofu bibimbap. We both thoroughly enjoyed the noodles, but in comparison were again disappointed with the bibimbap - everything was cooked well, but it just felt like it needed something more. They have one dessert option - the croiffle. We got this to celebrate my husband's birthday and the waitress even put a candle on it, which was a very sweet gesture. This dessert was a perfect ending! It was sweet, flaky, and warm and went SO nicely with the cookie dough ice cream on the side. Would highly recommend this! Overall it was a good dinner experience, but I'm not sure we're in a hurry to go back.

Fun hipster atmosphere in the trendy Third Ward. Parking nearby, which was convenient. A somewhat limited menu but all the classic Korean favorites. Wonderful food all the way around. The scallion pancakes were very good (had the kimchi version, not seafood). Bulgogi and Galbi were great and portions were about right, not too much or too little. Bibimbap perhaps not completely authentic but great presentation and really tasty. Some interesting drinks, both American and Korean. Service was good, not great. And they didn't have any banchan other than kimchi. But overall great experience. Would go back and would definitely recommend.

I liked it here so much I came back two days in a row! I went on a Thursday night with my husband for dinner and the restaurant wasn't very busy but when I returned on Friday they had a good amount of business. The restaurant can be hard to find if you're not looking directly at it but the interior is really nicely designed with big floor to ceiling windows at the entrance and a bar on a lower level where you walk in. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful with recommendations and I loved all of the food we tried. I had a couple different appetizers and tried a few people's meals and everything was so delicious. The menu is a sauce lovers dream and the flavors are so well crafted. The entrees come with several sides and we had plenty of leftovers to take home!

Stir Fry Glass Noodle (Japchae) bottom- okay Spicy Beef Soup top- okay
    Ben W.

I was very excited to try the spicy beef soup with glass noodles added along with the spicy chicken with veggies! Also added the japchae which overall the dishes were good but the kimchi wasn't my favorite and all three dishes lacked spice which really prevented the dishes from being great! I was expected to the soup to be hot but instead was just warm. I do have to say the quality of ingredients was high but just underwhelmed my taste buds compared to other Korean restaurants i have been to around milwaukee. I will have to give it one more shot for the beef bulgogi but wish I could have rated this place higher. Three dishes for 84$ after tax and tip split 3 ways= 28$ per person

One of the reasons I was especially excited was all the hype surrounding the Diplomac Burger. Ironically, it wasn't the best thing we had that night. Food: We started with craft cocktails. The Diplomanhattan for her and the Wisconsin Old Fashioned for me. Both had great flavor profiles, generous pours, and easily lasted the entire meal. The menu is entirely tapas-style, so we ordered items meant for sharing. We chose a mix of starters and entrees, which arrived in a typical staggered order. Our selections were the Haystack Parsnips, Sourdough Bread, Onion Salad, Diplomac Burger, and the Knife & Fork Chicken. Everything was excellent with one small exception, the Diplomac Burger. It may have been because we cut it into four pieces, so you lose the satisfaction of picking it up and taking a big bite. For me, it also came down to the meat-to-bread ratio. I've had many excellent Milwaukee burgers without the extra middle bun, and I'm also not a big fan of shredded lettuce on a burger. That said, the item that completely stole the show was the Knife & Fork Chicken. It's fully deboned, spatchcocked, and pan fried in cast iron. Absolutely fantastic. I wish I had left more room, because the portion was generous and I would have happily eaten more. The accompanying sides were all noteworthy as well, especially the biscuits with honey butter. You would think we were completely stuffed, but then we saw Peanut Butter Pie being served to another table. That sealed it. We ordered one to share between three of us. Just enough to satisfy our sweet tooth. Service: Service throughout the evening was excellent. We were seated promptly and set up with waters. Our server checked in early, walked us through the menu, and patiently answered our many questions. The pacing between courses was spot on, and the two-plus-hour meal flew by. Thanks to Anna and the rest of the team for taking such good care of us. Atmosphere: It's not a large space. You enter into the bar area, where the bartender was quick to greet us. The bar itself is spacious enough to comfortably enjoy a full meal. The dining room is through a separate doorway. Lighting was subdued without being dark. The restaurant was about half full, and the noise level stayed reasonable. The interior design leans European, with dark wood, intimate seating, and distinctive wall art. An excellent experience overall. This one is definitely on our list to return to. Next time, I would start with the Knife & Fork Chicken and take it from there.

Oh and also, all the drinks come in snifter glasses. ???? Okay, so I'm not usually a fan of super specific, hipstery themes like this. But I decided to give Snifters a chance. And I'll admit, I liked what they had to offer. The signature dish seems to be the empanadas. These empanadas, however, are filled with unusual ingredients. We ended up getting The Manchester (basically mac and cheese stuffed in an empanada. Decent, but confusing to the senses), The Appalachia (pulled pork sandwich empanada. Solidly good), and The Cream City Standard (beans and potatoes. Easily my favorite, most similar to a traditional empanada). Overall, the empanadas were tasty, despite their oddness! We then moved on to an entree option. I went with Los Camarones, which were giant breaded shrimp served on top of cornbread. The shrimp was excellent. Very flavorful and delicious. The dish as a whole, I thought, lacked a sauce on top. It was a bit dry overall. My friend got the chicken and waffles, which was delightfully served with the maple syrup in a snifter glass. She was a big fan, so it must have been delicious. Overall, I'm surprised how much I enjoyed Snifters. I had hesitations, but the food was unique and flavorful. My big issue: the service was painfully slow. As in, I had to get up and find our server myself, which automatically knocks one star off in my books. We were delighted to learn about how they got their name and a little history about Greendale and Eleanor Roosevelt in the back of the menu. The space transforms a little for dinner, lower lighting for more ambiance dining. The menu has a good amount of options and the specials sounded delicious! I love that they start you out with an amuse bouche, it really elevates the experience. I went with the Peach & Herb Salad with chicken and my husband got the Short rib Bolognese. We both really enjoyed our dishes but sadly didn't save any room for dessert. Next time! Depending on when you go, downtown Greendale can get pretty busy, which makes parking challenging. There are a variety of shops and restaurants nearby, so it is a popular date night spot.

I so rarely get to Greendale (honestly, can't say that I had ever been to anywhere in the village besides the mall) and I liked that we could make a reservation, making it a nice change of pace. The decor is lovely, very Art Deco, a nod to Eleanor Roosevelt, the namesake of the restaurant. I was very pleasantly surprised at how wonderful the interior was given that the exterior is essentially a strip mall. What's that old saying about books and their covers? Service was great, both attentive and timely, and everyone very much enjoyed their food. Monte Cristo is one of my favorites and this one was done very well. My coffee was also good and she kept it coming, which I also appreciated. Really the only sour note in the entire experience was being asked to vacate the table. While it was not handled terribly poorly, I would have recommended they offer us something to shift to the bar to not end the meal on a less than positive note, but that's just me.
