Ordered 3 sandwiches had to wait 50 mins. I was told no fries for 30mins so I didn't order any. Had 1 person slicing and preparing all the sandwiches. Food was good, but not worth the wait.

I found myself in Glen Burnie, getting an oil change and figured I'll make the trip to Chaps Pit Beef. I'm conflicted on how to review this. The beef was pure flavor, town smoky tender, and spiced just right. But the portion size felt like someone whispered portion control and really took it heart. I'm used to overflowing sandwiches that are big enough for two servings. This felt more like a slider. And the beans which are normally my favorite side at a pit beef place were really tangy. Also, they were served in a container that might've been borrowed from my niece's doll house-tiny. I appreciated the fresh brewed iced tea, which was available and two flavor, sweet and unsweetened. The free pickle slices were a fun touch like a bonus snack. All in all not bad, but I'm still looking for my ultimate pit beef stop.

For my Pit Beef I have always been a strict Bull on the Beach girl. My nephew and his pregnant girlfriend suggested I try this on my last trip home. OMG! The pit beef sandwich was AMAZING! Soooo good and flavorful! (And much cheaper than the other place). If you get to craving a good pit beef sandwich, I encourage you to try this place out. Service was good, spacious seating area, a variety of foods at a great price! I have searched all over Tucson for the perfect pit beef sandwich and nothing has come close! I would love to put in a request to please please please open one of these in Tucson, AZ!!!

Receipt of Chap's Pit Beef (Best in Baltimore) visit

I made a special trip to Chap's because I don't live in the area and was in the Baltimore area on business. We visited on 3/8/25 @ 3:23pm. Our order number was 213656. I asked for fries with gravy. The cashier said they didn't serve that. I had gotten this side for many years. Someone who came in later, when we were our way out, had a side of fries with gravy. I am so disappointed. This cashier was inattentive and offered no greeting when we walked in. She never looked up and never asked if we were going to dine-in. Unacceptable! The worst customer service that I have ever received at Chap's. Please do something about the staff that man's the register. You can do better.

Garbage Fresh Cut Cheese Fries (Small)

I thought I ordered Cheese fries, not cheese soup. This place is awful. And not just because of the lousy service from the employees that hate their job. But the fact that they can't do their job. And the fact that this food, somehow isn't up to par with the main location in the city. The place itself kinda sucks to eat in. The table for condiments was an absolute mess. The pit beef sandwich I got wasn't really prepared correctly. Very sloppy, and the toppings were not cut properly and sloppily thrown onto the sandwich. And then there was the cheese fries. I like cheese as much as the next obese American, but this was entirely too much and I don't know why any adult would think that having so much covering the fries was a good idea. Maybe they were trolling, maybe one of the cooks didn't like me. This was so bad, it almost seemed personal. With all of this said, if you want to go to Chaps, go to the one in the city. This one is NOT it.

If you haven't been to the original location this location will do, but if you've been to the Pulaski Highway location (where Bourdain visited) you've had the best. This will NOT measure up. It's a perfectly satisfying sandwich. Plenty of meat, cooked nicely. You've got a million choices when it comes to sauces. There are pickles and horseradish. It's all fine. But I spent my entire lunch listening to my boyfriend lament about the lack of smoke flavor - because this location is in a strip MALL, not in the parking lot of a strip CLUB, which means there's no smoker. I am glad that the weather was nice, so we could use the picnic table out front because the music was so loud I couldn't converse with my boyfriend, and my life is incomplete if I can't have sarcastic conversations with him at all times. It wasn't even bad music. It was Prince, and the Eurythmics, and stuff that I normally love - but it was being played at Forever 21 decibels. I realize that I am now officially old, because the music was too loud. Sorry/NotSorry... I mean, I can't imagine that Chaps Pit Beef is high on the places to eat list of the younger crowd. Turn the music down, just a tiny bit? I'm glad that we tried this location. It taught me not to bother with any of the other locales. I'll stick with going down the street to the Gold Club Original location.

Very friendly staff. Food came out pretty quick as well. Would have like to have seen a little more meat on the put beef sandwich but it was pretty good.

The Raven Sandwich and Homemade Baked Beans (Small)
    Melvin B.

We decided to try this spot since we had heard about their Baltimore location. Now there is nothings fancy about this place. It does pit beef and other meats. Your expectations should not be high. I had The Raven and baked beans. The Raven was good except they just put a slice of cold cheese on it when they could have melted or heated a little bit. The beams were sub par. Based on that they get 3stars.

After a few years we made it back to Chaps. This was the first time at this location. Our first visit two days ago yielded a sandwich about two inches or more filled with meat sauce and kraut. I loved it. My husband had the Guys Special his favorite also. Today we came back and both ordered the Ruben. The sandwich wasn't as thick with meat. They probably weighed it and was exact where my sandwich before was generous. I felt cheated. His bread was burned black. The sandwich would have tasted good but all he tasted was burned bread. The $2.30 4 oz beans was a big disappointment. It was delicious. Today we ordered the large which was a generous cup of beans for $3.10. A much better deal. While I love Chaps. I might drive the extra to go to the main store. The ambiance and their sandwiches at least make you feel like you're getting more for your money.

Originally inspired to eat at Chaps Baltimore after drooling over Instagram photos, we drove 40mins for a sandwich & the experience was well worth it...so we were over the moon to discover they were opening a location 15 minutes away from us! Navigating to this location was a lot easier, not just because of the time of the drive, but because the parking lot was a lot less crowded & it was much easier to walk-in for to-go orders. Though, I will say-customer service was a lot better at the Baltimore location-friendlier staff, who were more willing to assist with the sides & sauces. This visit we placed an online order for pick up including 6 entrees: 1 gravy beef platter, 1 chicken meal, 4 sandwiches- & 3 sides including: fries, chili, and green beans. Upon arrival, there was a definite mix-up with the bagging of our order- we ended up with only 3 of our ordered entrees & 5 sides of fries. (We were missing 3 sandwiches, the chili, & the green beans.) It took awhile to get the front staff to help obtain our missing order- they kept asking me to wait-passing me from staff to staff- while they filled new orders- which was disappointing as our current food was getting colder. In the meantime of waiting, I tried to work with the pick-up window staff to obtain the toppings sides (normally out for self-service-now behind the counter for COVID- I asked for pickles, onions, and sauces for 6 entrees)- the first staff member told me 'oh no, that's too many'- but I showed him my receipt explaining we bought 6 entrees & everyone wants their own bbq & toppings. This process was even more frustrating than trying to get our whole order- again I was passed around to various staff members being told, that's a lot of sauce...which was a bit shocking since when they finally packaged everything, it was all in pre-made to-go containers, so it wasn't like they had to make all the sauce containers, they just had to be willing to bag it for me and they weren't. When we finally obtained all of our food, made it home- the containers were a hot mess- true the fries were all extra food that wasn't originally in our order, so yay-but they were leaking out of poorly constructed containers everywhere, creating a greasy mess. The guy who was frustrated packing our sauces just threw them in-so they leaked, and the green beans side was the SMALLEST scoop of beans in a bbq sauce to-go container, as if they just didn't try to locate an actual sides container :( So -not the best take-out experience when trying to place a larger order...but I can't knock the quality of the food The fries- while a greasy pile of mess- were well-seasoned, crispy cut, I couldn't stop eating them-very unfortunate for my tummy that we ended up with so many haha The Big John-BIG indeed-packed with so much meat- I had to cut the sandwich apart to add sauce within the layers & figure out how to take a bite. I even ended up taking off some meat for leftovers & still had a massively hearty sandwich with the same great juicy, well smoked quality- We haven't eaten the chili yet-leftover adventure tomorrow! Overall, probably best to skip online order & go in to specifically ensure the order is correct- but still worth the hassle!

Nasty fries and even worst, the nasty black grease they were fried in!!

Should have read the reviews first, but live and learn. I normally patronize their other locations so this is my first time here. Beef was good, but unfortunately when I picked my order up at the window and I went to sit down and I pulled out the fries, there was nasty black grease and dripping all over the place. Got all over my clothes and you can see from the picture how it completely covered the bag as well as the container they were in. Nasty nasty nasty. Please invest in a grease filter and filter your oil every day. This oil looks like it's six months old without being filtered or changed. The grease was so nasty it looked like it came out of a car with 100,000 miles on it!! Completely ridiculous!

You place your order at the takeout window and they have several tables with umbrellas up front. The order taker asked me what I wanted on it. Told him it was my first pit beef so I want the works. He suggested onions and mayo. Ok... Then he gave me the expectation that my beef would come medium-rare. Perfect! I also ordered a side of fried shrooms. When I got my sandwich, it looked pretty hefty - a good amount of beef for $10! But it looked more well done - far from medium rare. Took a couple of bites and was underwhelmed. It was bland and under seasoned. I had to go up to the condiment bar to mix myself up some horsey sauce - mayo + horseradish. It helped, but was still disappointed that the beef itself was so bland. Fries were good, shrooms were good. Just not sure that I'm enticed to come back again.

The halibut was mild-flavored, ready for our favorite sauces and seasoning. I like variety, and had some with salt and pepper, simple and delicious. We had some with genuine Tabasco, which to me is more flavorful than some of the sweeter hot-sauces, though i like those too. I ate it in the old style, which is to sauce the bread. It creates a creamy texture and makes it easy to get just the right amount of heat that I want with each bite. And Willy's served a thick creamy tartar sauce that is very satisfying. The fries were hot and crisped and quite generous. We liked Willy's welcoming staff. They seemed to like the place and the customers, and they seem to know many as regulars. And the customers filled the room with a soothing background of happy chatter. I can't tell you how comfortable it felt. I originally wanted to check out another spot, but it wasn't convenient location wise. My friend suggested this one instead. He was the driver so I said it was fine without thinking much of it. Realized later this isn't actually the pit beef I read about and wanted, but it's a decent spot for a meat sando. All our meals came with a soup which was yummy. Kinda like chicken noodle / dumpling soup. That was actually my fav thing here. The pit beef was more like a roast beef sandwich which was fine. I actually enjoyed the brisket more. The bonfire bbq they describe like a sloppy joe. Tho I thought it wasn't as saucy and messy. Not exactly what I was expecting sandwich wise, but I was nicely surprised by their complimentary soup. Upon entering, I thought it was an interesting setup because I assumed that this spot was a restaurant/(dive)bar. Turns out it is a restaurant in a liquor store...or maybe it's a liquor store in a restaurant. I'll admit that this misunderstanding was on me. Someone suggested the restaurant, and I did not do any follow-up research. Although the restaurant is connected to a liquor store, you cannot consume alcohol inside. But, I guess that was not a deal breaker because I was more interested in some good ol' BBQ. At the counter, I started to look over the menu because there were quite a lot of interesting items. They have a long list of various BBQ/meat items and a bunch of sides. For my dining pleasure, I went with the two meat (general BBQ and sausage), two sides combo (greens and mac n cheese), which was about 18 bucks. The price for the amount of food wasn't too bad. To be frank the food was not what I expected. Ok, the food was not horrible, but I think that I might have set my expectations too high. Normally, when I think of Texas BBQ, I think of meat that is slowly cooked so that it's very tender. The meat here seemed like it was cooked on a grill and mixed with BBQ sauce immediately prior to serving. To me, the meat was a bit tougher than what I have normally experienced in most BBQ restaurants. Perhaps, the restaurant was having a bit of an off day during our visit.
