I visited this place on a Saturday evening. It's located in a shopping plaza with ample parking. I wasn't really impressed by the interior, so I'll skip right over that topic. Service was... fine. Not particularly friendly, but not rude. My dish was made to order, so I appreciate that. I ordered the brisket Mac and cheese based on a video review I saw online. The dish was SUPER cheesy and looked amazing. However, the it lacked flavor. Both the mac and the brisket were just... bland. I wasn't impressed. Addy's Barbeque is one of those spots my IG algorithm would not leave me alone about. Every time it popped up, I thought, "I gotta try this place." I almost didn't though, once you dig past social media, you'll see a mix of good and bad reviews, and for a split second that gave me pause. Glad I ignored that feeling. We came on a Saturday around noon for lunch with the family. Addy's sits on the edge of a larger shopping center, nothing flashy, but easy enough to find. When you walk in, the counter is right there and the dining area is pretty small, maybe 8-10 tables total. We were greeted right away by the woman at the register, let her know we were dining in, and she handed us menus to take to our table. I had seen reviews mentioning clutter or stacked plates inside, but that wasn't the case at all during our visit. Everything was clean and in order. They had some jazz playing over the speakers, which gave the place a chill, quiet-to-moderate vibe. Lighting was average, not dim, not bright. Seating is a mix of booths and tables with chairs. I started in a chair, then slid over to the booth side of the table for more leg room. I was never uncomfortable either way. There was one person waiting on food when we arrived. We ordered at the counter and had our food in about 8 minutes, which felt quick. The same woman who took our order also brought the food out, smiled, and checked on us after. No complaints at all on service. It wasn't busy while we were there, but on our way out there was a line of about six people, so it clearly picked up. What we ordered: * Brisket Quesadilla - Shredded brisket with melted cheese in a tortilla, served with sour cream and salsa. The brisket was tender, well-seasoned, and had a light smokiness that came through nicely. * Beef Ribs - Fall-off-the-bone, smoky, saucy beef ribs with fries and cornbread. The cornbread came drizzled with honey, which honestly threw me off at first. I was like, this is either about to be really bad or really good, and it was definitely the latter. Almost cake-like, moist, and flavorful. I usually skip cornbread at BBQ spots, but this one hit. I can see how someone might feel the rib portion is a little light for the price, but not enough to stop me from ordering it again. * Mixed Mishkaki (Beef & Shrimp) - This might've been the standout. East African-style kebabs in a sweet and spicy marinade, served with rice and salad. The beef was insanely tender, I could've cut it with a cheap plastic fork. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and full of flavor, mixed with peppers and onions. It came out sizzling on a hot plate, fajita-style, which surprised us in the best way. Best bang for your buck for sure. This plate could feed two regular people... or one big back. I'm big back...lol * Cajun Chicken Tenders - I usually expect cajun to be dry-rubbed, but these were saucy, and still really good. Definitely coming back to try other flavors. Price-wise, meals range roughly from $9.99 to $24.99, and overall I thought the value was solid for what you get. Maybe some room for debate on the beef ribs, but everything else made up for it easily. Honestly, there wasn't anything on the menu I didn't want to try, and I don't even feel like I've found my go-to item yet, which is a good problem to have. As for the negative reviews I saw beforehand? I don't know. Maybe wrong day, wrong time, or they caught the place during a rough moment. Our experience was smooth, the food was fire, and the restaurant was well kept. Out of a few spots I've tried because of social media hype, this one was probably the most accurate to the hype. It made a big impression on both my wife and me. I live about 40 minutes away, and I'll definitely be back to dine-in or takeout, though I'd probably dine in so the food's hot. This was a good experience, large portions, and very flavorful. For appetizers, we ordered butterfly shrimp,wings and burnt ends platter. Shrimp were good no wow factor, wings were good just plain but would have been better if they had a sauce and the burnt ends had more of a smoked bbq flavor which was different than usual but very tender and tasty. It was served with mixed vegetables and coleslaw. Veggies were ok and seasoned and coleslaw was to be desired. Not burnt ends is an entree on the menu. For entrees: crispy chicken sandwich with fries and chicken Mishkaki. Can I say, wow the portion required stretch pants! The sandwich; meat to bun is 20% more chicken than bread. It was seasoned and fried to perfection. The fries are in house cut and seasoned well too. The chicken Mishkaki is dish never tried before but reminds you of Nazan Halal's chicken with more of a rich tomato stew flavor with peppers, onions. It was about 8 to 10 skinless thin thighs seasoned and fork tenderness served in its own plate, then another plate with rice and the fixings. Think of a fajita sizzling plate and side plate of the fixings, same as this dish. I would definitely visit again! The space is a bit small but the flavors are large. It's setup to be carryout for the most part. Our order was taken quickly and our food came out in about fifteen minutes. My brother ordered the burger topped with brisket and I ordered the burnet ends. My brother enjoyed the burger and stated it was well seasoned. The burnt ends were beautifully cooked and tender. The steamed vegetables that accompanied the dish were well seasoned and I nice addition to the richness of the meat. I also enjoyed the vinegary bite of the cole slaw. read more

Ok so boom; this is one of those places you constantly drive by but may not have had a chance to experience. So I said, let's change that today! Upon arrival, I was greeted by the staff at the register. Very friendly, she was. She gave me the menu and even shared what their most poplar items were currently. The restaurant is a nice size with plenty of parking! They had music playing and it appeared to be very clean. I ordered the smash burger less onions, jalapeños, and their house sauce. It was very tasty! It came with grilled mushrooms and I opted to add ketchup and mustard. The burger was a nice size and I was able to add fries and a canned soda for an additional $3.99. So my $9.99 burger was for the burger alone. Everything was hot and seasoned well. The burger had great flavor to it and they cooked it to my temperature request. The fries were nice and hot and had a little seasoning on them. Maybe Cajun but not at all spicy! The icing on the cake for me was a side of ketchup for my fries that was cold! I know everyone differs on this subject matter but I like cold ketchup once it's been opened so a simple but most appreciative pleasure. Decent food, but not worth the wait. My best friend and I ordered a brisket cheesesteak, the masala rib tips with fries and an order of the burnt ends with grilled vegetables. We were told it would be a 30 minute wait for our food. The wait ended up being over an hour. The restaurant only had a few other people in it, and we arrived well before iftar, so I have no idea what took so long. The cheesesteak was okay, but the brisket had entirely too much sauce on it. Also, the random peppers that were added to the cheesesteak did nothing to add to it. They could have left those out. The burnt ends were good. Probably the best thing we had. The masala rib tips with fries were pretty good too, but truthfully it tasted better the day after. I wasn't crazy about the masala fries when I had them fresh, but after a day or so, but they tasted better. The rib tips were wonderfully tender, but there was not enough sauce on them. They should have used some of the sauce that they drown the brisket in to put on the rib tips. Overall, this was not worth the almost 2-hour drive round trip. There are places that are much closer, and offer much better barbecue... And at a much better price. read more

So I keep hearing about Addy's on Instagram & finally decided to stop in early one Saturday afternoon. It's in the shopping center next to the liquor store behind Chuck E. Cheese so parking wasn't an issue. Must've been a slow start to the day cause it was nobody in there at all but that's how I like it nice & quiet. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich & fries. Of course with it being empty my food came out really quick nice & hot. The chicken was really crispy & delicious, fries also cooked perfectly with the right amount of seasoning. I really wanted to leave a better review but I couldn't. I came in on a Wednesday afternoon and decided to order the beef ribs, the biggest size. The guy who took my order was very nice and let me know it'll be about 10 min. Which was not an issue for me. They have plenty of seating for individuals and families. I received my food and came home, it was still hot. So the ribs came with cornbread and fried onions. The onions weren't hot and crispy. Kinda tasted like they were previously fried and just sitting. The cornbread was not good at all. It's tasted like the pan it was cooked in. I don't know if that makes sense but it just wasn't good. It was dry and flavorless and like I said it had a pan like taste. Like they sprayed PAM in the pan beforehand and didn't use any type of butter. They should really rethink that recipe. The ribs themselves were just okay. They were tender but could use more seasoning on the meat itself. The barbecue sauce was good and when you got a good ratio of meat and sauce, the ribs were really good. But for the most part you could really taste that the meat itself did not have enough flavor. I'm not sure I would try the ribs again. I may try this place out again. I heard good things so I'll try something else on the menu. You should try it for yourself. read more

Stopped here on our way out of town, actually drove an hour out of our way just to take food with us, and the 1st time it was mind blowing. The 2 of us shared 2 beef bacon brisket sandwiches and 3 cheese brisket subs... my wife fed me while I drove and I had to pull over..that was five star, but on my return trip a month later it just didn't hit the same. It's very expensive but when the food smacks you don't mind but when it fails to meet your expectations it s a real downer. Now y'all know I'm ALWAYS looking for something good and new to eat! I was scrolling thru social media and found Addy's Barbecue, so I decided to try it out. We got the mac and cheese, burger and fries, and chicken over rice. The mac and cheese was ok. It has soooo much potential. I think it would be perfect if the noodles were seasoned and cooked a tad bit longer. The cheeseburger and fries were ok for the price point. I would like to try something else though. Now the chicken over rice....that was delicious! It comes with a handful of fries and veggies. But what stood out was the white sauce that topped the chicken. It was AMAZING! The service was nice! I checked this place out after seeing a random social media post. In short, it's an American BBQ with a slight Halal twist. We tried the brisket cheesesteak, buffalo wings, and a regular cheesesteak. Our sandwiches came with fries. All of our food was flavorful, but I think I liked the regular cheesesteak better than the brisket version, but both were pretty good. The food is blend of several spices from different continents. The service was great and the recommendation was good. We had fish and chips ( kids that having hard time with any spice), smash burger, chicken mishkaki and masala barbecue ribs. Kids liked the burger while us adults also liked the chicken and barbecue. Social media can be a dangerous place. At times, it's filled with violence, lies, and all things negative. And then there are those times when social media serves its purpose. This is one of those times. When I first saw someone post bout this place, the best way to describe what I saw is to simply call it "mouth watering." Halal BBQ? Don't mind if I do! There is seating even though it isn't huge inside. I got the chicken quesadilla and the BBQ Beef Ribs. The ribs came with onion fries and corn bread. The corn bread was good and had syrup drizzled over it. The Ribs...the RIBS!! The ribs were so tender you could cut it with a spoon. Definitely on point. The sauce was more sweet and less tangy. Came across an Instagram post about this place that made the food look amazing so I had to give it a try. I brought backup so we could try a few things. We had the Cajun Chicken Sandwich, Cajun Tenders, Mac & Cheese, and Masala Fries. The service was really good. Staff was nice and friends and speedy. There were a couple small quirks that were weird but overall, a pretty good experience. The chicken is sauced heavily, and I'm not really a fan of messy wet sauce, but the taste wasn't bad. The Mac & cheese was very cheesy and had good consistency but a little under seasoned for me. The masala fries has a saucy coating that takes away from the crispiness of the fries, so not really my thing, but again, I can see the vision for the taste. It's wasn't fantastic, but I would circle back at least once more just to try a couple of things on the menu. For the price, there are a lot of unique things on the menu that most probably never heard of, so it would be helpful to have more descriptions of the recipes or a few pictures to help guest understand how the dish is prepared. I'll probably request less or no sauce, but other than that. It's worth a stop-in for lunch. read more

I was in the process of reviewing another establishment, and this popped up on my Instagram, and guess what.... I was hungry & close!! I reviewed their Instagram, and the reviews were thru the roof.. No harm.. no foul, both can be adjusted.. I also understand that I had to transport it 10 min to home.. 2nd, I got to the garlic wings..Chileeee they were still piping hot!! They were extremely small, and the sauce had settled to the bottom.. The wing itself was tasteless, but the garlic sauce was on point.. I will potentially give them another go! 3rd was the burnt ends.. this was what I was waiting for.. It came with mixed veggies.. The veggies were huge.. I really mean rough cut & HUGE, but everyone needs a veg... I loved the sauce & texture. However, it had the weirdest aftertaste.. Like that lighter fluid taste when ur grilling.. Lastly.. Addy's bbq is just what Catonsville needs! It offers elements of traditional bbq, but with fusion of middle eastern flavors. They offer halal bbq, burgers, chicken sandwiches, steaks and so much more! They legit have something for everyone including the kiddos! Their pricing is very fair considering the portion sizes. Entrees range from $10-20 dollars with sides being mostly under $10. I also really enjoyed their sweet treats which are a variety is lassis, or even their new concept or flavored tre leches. There is plenty of parking out front. While they can accommodate larger groups, this place gives me more casual vibes for a quick dinner, or even takeout. I mean how often do you find falooda, an Indian cold dessert with jelly and ice cream, at a BBQ place?
