Run by the same guy who operates Wang Gang, this somewhat nostalgic restaurant I found to be a great addition to the strip mall. Service was great, as was the food during my two visits there. The burger was one of the best I've had in a long time. Fries too, even though they were breaded. I've heard that they had the best chicken sandwich but I wasn't blown away by it. I splurged and got one of their specialty milkshakes which was a strawberry one with animal sugar cookies in it. Definitely hit the spot! My only complaint is there's not enough seating. But nothing is perfect I guess. I'll be back
Went to dinner tonight at Chappy's in Edwardsville (next door to Wang Gang) Love the decorations and route 66 feel of the place. The food was 10/10, and service was even better. We were absolutely blown away by our server, Michelle. She's by far one of the best servers I've had while dining out! We had fried mushrooms to start, and even though they aren't hand breaded, they had tons of flavor! Their ranch is also! The hubby ordered the hamborghini, which is a combination of a Philly cheesesteak and a cheeseburger. I had a plain cheeseburger and fried chicken leg (SUPER CRISPY AND JUICY). She also gave us a sample of the frozen custard, which was amazing as well. We can't wait to go back and try a few of the other menu items!!
Great service and food. Cute place. I had the fried chicken dinner with mashed potatoes. I give a 5 stars for the chicken and the service. The potatoes and toast were barely warm hence the 4 rating. It looks likes the burgers weee a hot item as most of the others tables ordered that. I will be back if in the area.
Great service! Burgers are really good and the fries are also quite delicious. If you like a great chicken sandwich, this is also your kind of place. Did I mention shakes? Also very good. We've been here four times now and everything is consistent. If you like a good burger or chicken sandwiches... stop by sometime.
Chappy's is a small, car-themed, and filled restaurant with some pretty alright typical diner-type food. The jalapeño mac n cheese bites were delicious, but the street corn potato bowl was just alright. The sauce was good, but it was mostly potatoes in the end scheme of things. The service was quick and to the point, but there also weren't a whole lot of people dining at the time either. The milkshake was delicious in the end too. I don't know if I'll be making any more special trips here, but I wouldn't say no to trying it out again in the future.
Chappy's is a unique restaurant in Edwardsville, IL. It has a Route 66/car theme with the decor and diner-style food. The service is very good and the food is very good. My family and I visited Chappy's twice in a three week span and this review will cover both visits. We are a family of four, with two pre-teen boys. Chappy's seems to be known for their fried chicken and it is very good - more to come on that - but their burgers are excellent as are their french fries. Chappy's burgers are diner style and cooked on a griddle. They are very flavorful and some of the best burgers you can get at this type of restaurant and at this price point. My oldest son declared that this was the best burger he's ever gotten at a restaurant. You can add a second patty to a burger for an additional charge and if you're hungry or want more, I would recommend getting the double. It is a good value to add the additional patty. The french fries are fantastic! They have a type of batter on the fries, a coating that is light and very flavorful. They are some of my favorite french fries that you can get out. For locals, these are the same types of french fries you can get at the Burger Bar in Wood River, IL (also a very good place) or Dairy King in Breese and Trenton, IL. They're very, very good and I recommend you get them as a side. Chappy's fried chicken is very good. It has a unique batter that is their speciality and it is not too spicy but has a good flavor. With two young boys, we eat a lot of chicken tenders and a lot of chicken in general and its often something at least one of the boys orders when we go out to eat. We all thought the chicken was excellent and highly recommend it. We debated where it ranks on our chicken tenders scale. The consensus ended up being that it ranked somewhere beneath Moonlight fried chicken, but on par with the chicken tenders from Raising Canes and slightly above the tenders from Geno's 140 Club in Bethalto, IL. Our meals consisted of burgers, chicken tenders, fries, and toasted ravioli. The ravioli was good, but nothing special and isn't really the speciality of Chappy's. Service was quite good. Our first experience visiting was with exceptional service. On our second visit we did not receive drink refills quite as often, but everyone was friendly and helpful. Very good service. Value/Pricing: Chappy's is on the slightly higher end of pricing for a similar type restaurant that serves a variety of burgers, fries, and fried chicken. I think the chicken is at a common price point, but the burgers are a bit higher than some similar places for arguably similar taste. I recommend you check out Chappy's for a unique experience. The burgers, fries, and chicken and excellent and you won't go wrong ordering any of those three items. With good service and reasonable pricing with a unique atmosphere, Chappy's is a place worth visiting.
Tonight was our first time at Chappy's after reading some reviews I had high hopes. I ordered the 4 pc chicken with coke slaw (they were out of the fried mushrooms our waitress recommended) and my daughter ordered the Goat Burger. The fried chicken was good, moist, tender, and good flavor but pieces were very small, I've had Cornish hens about as big. My daughter said her burger was pretty good but I thought the beef patty was a little small. My granddaughter had the kids chicken tender meal, it had lots of fries and 2 small chunks of chicken but it was enough for her. I definitely don't recommend sitting anywhere close to the front door, there is a strong wind the cones tunneling in every time the door opens and it blew things around on our table. Overall not bad and I will probably give it another try.
This new place popped up in yelp! It has fried chicken...I'm really into fried chicken so we came up here the next day. It's a cute little place with lots of vintage decorations with a fun laidback vibe. Lots of car memorabilia and 45 records on the wall! Our server was super friendly! Hubby got the Vienna sausage and loved it. He said his chocolate shake was good too! I got the chicken breast and two wings. Happy to report the chicken is excellent! It's not spicy ands it's tender and juicy. The fries are just okay, not my favorite kind. Really cute place that has fried chicken...that makes me happy! Welcome Chappy's to Edwardsville! I hope you do well. I know I'll be back! I noticed at the table across from us that the children got to pick out a free hot wheels car! I'll have to bring my little guy back here! Such a clever idea!
Went with the fam for lunch and had the single cheeseburger. Excellent burger! Toppings, bun and beef were all fresh. Service was friendly and kids loved the Hot Wheels. Definitely a burger spot!
I have been here in Edwardsville a week and been wanting some fried chicken other than National chains and directly across from my room is this establishment. They had fried chicken and it was very well seasoned and fried just right, hot and fresh. I can say I was very satisfied.
Best fried chicken I've ever had. So crispy tears right off the bone. And the chicken itself so juicy and seasoned. I get the legs and they are by far the best chicken left I've ever had. Don't get me started on the fries. So crispy and also seasoned these fries are better than most of the bar fries that are popular. I've told many people about this place. I will be continuing to come back I was there Friday I'm going back today which is Monday.
Is Chappy's a Fried Chicken Restaurant or is it a Smash Burger Restaurant? Does it really matter, when they do both very well? Chappy's is a 50's diner themed restaurant that could make you feel like you're a guest star on Happy Days. My first visit, I had to go with the fried chicken. My cleaning lady and other friends raved about it and they were right. The chicken was super crispy, the inside was extra juicy and the seasoning was on point. I was excited to see they offer about 10 different canned beers. Sometimes you just need a cold beer and they have both national and craft brands to choose from. However, if you want the true 50's diner experience, they have hand-scooped milk shakes, too. A heads up to soda drinkers, Chappy's is a Pepsi product restaurant. Oh, I forgot to tell you about my appetizer. I am Fried Pickles addict and I really liked theirs. The basket was way to full of deliciousness for one person. So be sure to bring someone to share it with. Chappy's does offer table service, which surprised me and the servers are attentive and friendly. I'll be going back soon to try their burgers and milk shakes. read more
This place was spectacular! The owner has done a really great job with the overall ambiance of the restaurant. Everything is Route 66 themed and there is some really fun signage on the walls. I got the STL 66 burger and fries, swapping the provel cheese for american. The burger was juicy and the signiture STL sauce really heightened the flavor. Our amazing waitress Emma made us her signiture Strawberry Shortcake milkshake and WOW! The milkshake was so good. It tasted like no other strawberry esc milkshake I've ever had- it's a must try! (it's not on the menu, so you have to ask for it) To top it all off... free Hotwheels! If you let a waitress know it is your first time, they will bring out a bin full of Hotwheels for you to choose from. I believe kids meals also grant this. Had such a great time here- will definitely be coming back soon! read more
Visited for the first time today. The restaurant definitely has a fun vibe and the music was legit. They had a fun trivia game playing on the tv and America's Funniest Videos on repeat. Our server was awesome and upbeat, which it feels as if you don't see much in customer service anymore (or I'm getting old and cranky). Anyway, he was fun and helpful. The food was good for what it is, a diner-style, quick-and-easy meal. We had the G.O.A.T. which was when you add bacon Chicago dog was good also with an all beef hotdog and plenty of toppings. The Mac 'N Cheese bites are delicious and not spicy at all, despite them listing them as "jalapeño" Mac 'N Cheese bites, which was fine by my husband, a spice intolerant white man. My only complaint was the fries were lame. Oh, and the fried pickles were nice and crispy as well! We'll be back! read more

First time here. Wife had the Fun Guy, it had Swiss, mushrooms and secret sauce. I had the GOAT, fig jam, goat cheese and arugula. Both were cooked medium and had good flavor. Fries were seasoned, crispy outside and tender inside. We both had a fountain drink too. Service was great and she was friendly. Prices are very competitive and not overly priced. Only wish they had a double patty. read more

Best. Burger. Ever. I had the single chappy basket and got mushrooms--my friends, their fried mushrooms are every bit as good as Northside! But! The burger was made by hand, was messy, hot, and delicious! We came because I had a burger craving, and I was not disappointed. Husband ordered a key lime pie shake to go home and had to switch to a real spoon because "there's a whole piece of pie here!" He says it tastes good too. Staff was very friendly and nice to each other. We sat at the bar because there were no tables, and one gentleman (owner? Manager?) came by to give us a hot wheels that he assured us were maybe rare, possibly not. Regardless, our grandkids will love them. I will be back next time I need a burger! read more

The service was great. My wife ordered the fried chicken. Unfortunately, they must have made my Chicago dog right when the order got back there. Because after the 10 or 15 minutes, it took for the fried chicken to cook, they brought my cold, hot dog out on a mushy bun. It was fairly disgusting. Her chicken was tasty! But I won't be in any hurry to go back. read more

Chappy's is a small family friendly restaurant with 1950's diner-like charm. Both the food and the service were good. I had a chicken parmesan sandwich with a side salad and I added a side of mashed potatoes. My husband had a Wheel in PBJ burger and fries. The chicken parm was great in that it featured provel cheese instead of mozzarella which is always a bonus in my opinion. The marinara sauce was just the right blend of tomatoes and spices, which makes me want to come back and try one of the pasta offerings on the menu. The mashed potatoes were good in a KFC rather than homemade way. The accompanying gravy was chicken flavored and tasted fine, even though I am sure it came from a mix. The side salad featured both chicken and bacon. Very good and a huge surprise for a side salad to contain meat! Finally, my husband's burger was great! He looked so happy eating it that I ventured to taste it. I actually liked it, much to my surprise. In conclusion, I recommend Chappy's if you are hungry (portions are large) and looking for a friendly laid back meal. read more
