On September 20 I purchased a 2026 X6 at Chapman Camelback. I asked to put the registration of the car under my company with myself as the guarantor. After waiting close to an hour, the business manager JOHN DONOVAN, tells me it can't be done and that I will have to put it under my personal name. He proceeds to tell me that with over a million dollars revolving on American Express every month I am a high risk customer. He convinces me that 10.99 for 7 years is all I will get and he then has me sign a contract so riddled with mistakes he doesn't finish and says he will call me to finish the process on Tuesday, September 23. Keep in mind, I could have just put the entire car purchase on my credit card. Wednesday comes around, and I am in love with my new car. John calls to say that I am no longer finance approved and that the only way the deal will land is if I trade in my 2025 Aston Martin as part of the deal. I agree to this as long as the trade is fair. On September 26 I bring my car in for its breakin service and am asked to meet with John Donovan. When I do, he tells me that i will only get 50% of what my car is worth but that is still more than the loan so I will come out way ahead. I ask to see the numbers and he shuffles the papers around in an effort to conceal the FRAUD he is attempting. He attaches over $27,000 in warranties, maintenance, and services for the next 7 years. I tell him that I don't want that, because I will only use the 30,000 mile standard warranty and then likely trade in the car. He proceeds to tell me that warranty no longer exists and that I must purchase these packages as a condition of the finance company. I then ask to see the previous contract I halfway signed and the purchase price of the car was lower. He then hides this sheet under a table and says it is out of order. I tell him again that I do not want all of these extras and he tried to convince me that this has always been the deal I agreed. Sitting face to face to a devious criminal in a BMW polo is an absolute assault to the Ultimate Driving Machine. This dealership has done nothing to remedy the situation and I can only assume they are all partner to the scheme. Do not fall victim like I almost did. Check your paperwork. Verify the products and terms. If you can help it, buy your car at a different dealership. And do NOT trust or work with John Donovan. Shame on Chapman. I will just have to buy my new car somewhere else. To John: This complaint will be filed with the Attorney General of AZ and every regulatory agency in the country. Apart from that, you picked the wrong guy to defraud. I will let my lawyers take it from here. read more

I recently leased a vehicle from this dealership, terms of lease agreed upon, the finance guy "wayne" was trying to push some kind of warranty on me for $3k and will not take no for answer. He kept playing with the numbers until he brought it down to $5 extra per month.. later I realized he changed therms of my lease from 36 months to 39 months without me knowing to make up for warranty that he was trying to sell me. Zero class, you would think you are in a used car dealership, they just want you to sign the dotted line and get you out, not even a keychain or a pen as a gift for leasing $120k vehicle. The car was not cleaned properly, shoe prints on the inside of the doors, 2 floor mats were missing, and when we asked for them they gave us a random pair that did not even belong to this car. If I could give ZERO stars I would. Two weeks ago, I took my 2016 BMW 340i (VIN: WBA8B3G55GNT92872, 53k miles) to Chapman BMW on Camelback for an oil change and to investigate / repair a P0440 EVAP engine code. Within two days I was given an estimate for $7K, which included a new oil filter housing, a new water pump, and needed repairs to my crankcase diaphragm / a PCV issue. Apparently, the new oil filter housing was needed because the technician had broken the head of the oil filter off into the housing. Thus, creating the need for a whole new oil filter housing ($1234). Given that I had waited an excessively long time to get an oil change (16k miles and over a year) I felt bad and authorized the oil filter housing repair but told them I would have the water pump and PCV issues looked at elsewhere. Note, I also talked to other certified BMW mechanics at Elite Bimmer and OnSite BMW, here in phoenix, and they both were like, I've never heard of "breaking off a filter" and both have done oil changes in cars that had gone longer than mine. Both urged me to put pressure on the dealership to own the mistake. But, given I had waited so long for an oil change (16k miles), I went ahead and authorized the oil filter house replacement ($2834). After that, they sent me a video of how the water pump leak had gotten so bad that now I couldn't even drive it away. Before bringing it to them, I had never once seen a drop of liquid under my car, particularly coolant. Yet now I had a leak so bad I couldn't drive the car away. Exasperated, I paid them the $4600 for the oil filter housing replacement and the new water pump and got out of there as fast as I could. I never got accurate diagnosis or resolution to the original EVAP problem. Instead, they morphed it into / fabricated a $3200 PCV/crankcase issue. I told them no thank you on the PCV issues and got out of there. A week later I took the car to BMW North Scottsdale .... and what do you know .. the EVAP issue was from a fuel tank vent value problem (the one thing that Chapman had said was "operating as designed"). I paid BMW North Scottsdale $551 to fix the fuel tank vent value and close out the EVAP issue. I also had BMW North Scottsdale confirm there is NO crankcase pressure problem / PCV / or diaphragm. Note, I told the service person at North Scottsdale that if the diaphragm was damaged or torn that seemed to align with the verbiage on a limited warranty dealing with torn diaphragm and PCV issues and he agreed, but said, "right now you don't have any PCV or crankcase issues". And yet this is the issue that Chapman "found" and was attempting to charge me $3200 for. I am now wondering if Chapman was less than truthful about other things .. given they were "wrong" on the fuel vent value and "wrong" about the PCV issues .. what would stop them fabricating a story about my oil filter housing or my water pump. This is my 3rd BMW (two 335i's and now a 340i) and this is the worst experience I've ever had dealing with BMW or any car maintenance. I lodged a complaint with the BBB and I'm currently consulting a civil attorney about damages given what appears to be provable and blatantly dishonest, perhaps even fraudulent behavior. read more

I have purchased 5 new BMW's from this dealership and its predecessors. I recently had a slow leak on a tire on my BMW M2 Competition. I had purchased these tires from Chapman. I purchased the car new from Chapman. The service advisor told me that only solution was to buy a new tire. "We don't fix tires." Maybe you shouldn't sell tires if you can't do a simple repair! When I complained on YELP several days ago, I got a response from the service manager saying "you have run flats on your car and they can't be repaired." I DO NOT HAVE RUN FLATS ON MY M2 COMPETITON! Look on your computer. Do you install run flats of the M2 Competition? Not on mine. So was it laziness in telling me that I had run flats without checking? Seems like Chapman wants the high end repairs. They will sell you a $400 tire rather than do a minor repair. I drove down to Discount tire, they found a nail in my tire and fixed it NO CHARGE. DISCOUNT tire seems to be in the customer service business: playing the long game knowing I will be back Chapman is in the short term profit business. read more

though I did not want to, I more or less had to deal with Chapman. I was looking for a car that is a bit of a unicorn and they had one. (The next closest one was ~400 miles away). To their credit, they were asking a fair price. o SLOW - I literally drove straight from Carvana (see above) to BMW. They knew I was coming. I had already paid $5K towards a cash deal...couldn't be simpler. I asked them in advance to have the paperwork ready. It still took 90 minutes for us to get out of there...vs 10 minutes at Carvana. o Poor trade-in offer - That wasn't the first strike. I wanted the car that BMW had for sale but I wanted to trade my current car in. Their offer was so poor that even with the 8.3% sales tax offset, a Carvana offer was still much better. It's Chapman's business, of course, but it doesn't make me want to go there. o Not stock - Chapman sold me a car that was not factory stock. (As it's covered under a CPO contract, that's a point that BMW Corp might be interested in.) They missed the fact that the previous owner had apparently lowered the vehicle 2" I didn't notice myself until I already owned it, noticed that the wheels seemed to have a lot of camber and had it checked Chapman's maintenance dept had to hunt to find someone who even knew what I was talking about and they clearly had never made the adjustments...not a confidence builder, especially with a quote of $700 on a job they had never done Though not happy, I didn't challenge Chapman on this. The car is designed to manually adjust the suspension for racing...and like all used cars, you buy them 'as is'. Still, it cost me $500 at a competent outside shop to get it corrected. Again, not a selling point for Chapman o Profit bumps - they had added stupid profit adds that I did not want...low quality window tint (for high quality prices), etc. plus $589 for doc/processing fees. They waived the adds (though not the fees) but then why play that game at all? o Documentation/recording - in the 90 minute close-out session, we specifically talked about titling the car. I was asked how I felt about digital titles and I was very clear that I wanted a paper title. Despite that and having grossly overpaid for this blatant $589 profit bump, when I called recently to ask about the paper title (after not receiving one after two months), I was treated as an inconvenience and given a 'we don't really do that' attitude I know that I can get a paper title from MVD for less than $10 but I paid $589 for Chapman to handle this simple task. As a contractual obligation and more importantly, a matter of principle, I feel like they should deal with it...cheerfully. They certainly have been paid well enough to do so It's worth noting here that Carvana and Tesla don't appear to add anything extra for doc fees including any costs in the price of the vehicle. Others charge less than half what the traditional dealers (e.g., Chapman) charge Furthermore, this is simply a cost of doing business. Will they be adding a facility lease fee next? read more

Not trustworthy. They misrepresented a third party warranty as a BMW warranty. They moved numbers around to hide the fact that they didn't credit me with the discounts promised. When I asked for a detailed invoice for my car I was told to wait and they would get it to me "soon." Over a month later and nothing and now they won't even reply to my queries. I also had the windows tinted and they did a poor job of it. When I asked about the bubbles I was told they would go away after a couple weeks. They didn't and Chapman won't redo it. Avoid this shady dealership at all costs. read more
