We got a wedding cake from Chantel's yesterday. It was delicious, beautiful, and the customer service (by the owner) was excellent. We needed a cake that was gluten and nut free. Last Saturday we went to Chantel's and the owner came out. He pretty much told us he could do anything we wanted. He guided us through the process and asked what time we needed it. They called early yesterday to tell us it was ready when we were. Definitely recommend Chantel's and will use again. read more

Chantel's Bakery is absolutely fantastic! If you're looking for a bakery in the northern VA area, this is IT! I placed an order online for Pineapple Shortcake made for Father's Day. I specified to not make it super sweet because my dad doesn't really eat sweets. And OMG their cake was amazing! It was soo moist, and the pineapple was so fresh, and the frosting was lightly whipped. My dad had multiple servings and he NEVER does that! I could eat the whole cake but it wasn't my occasion hahaha! My experience in general was fantastic from placing the order, pick up, and consumption. Their online ordering platform is super easy and convenient -this is how I like to do things haha. They have a delivery option but I chose to pick up. Upon walking in, I was greeted and they brought the beautiful cake out. Fast, friendly, and simple! I look forward to trying their pastries and cookies! They make a whole bunch of sweets. They also have gluten free and diabetic options too which I absolutely love! I'm so glad that I have such an awesome bakery nearby. I'll be ordering again very soon! read more

We used Chantel's for our wedding cake and we were very happy! I was going through a rough time, food allergy-wise and needed a cake that was dairy, gluten, and nut free. Dennis did an amazing job! The cake was beautiful and we literally could not tell the difference between the dairy/gluten/nut free cake and the regular cake. Leftovers of both cakes were packed up and sent home with us. Since the containers were not marked my husband had to taste test to figure out which was which and he could not do it. He is normally very picky and does not like cakes that are dairy or gluten free! Dennis also delivered the cake to our venue out in Purcellville, VA which had to have been a 45 minute or more drive for him. We felt taken care of on our wedding day. This past week was my husband's birthday and unfortunately, I started reacting to dairy again. I called Chantel's to see if he could make some dairy free cupcakes for me. He did and not only were they really good, they were generous portions for a very reasonable price. It sucks having food allergies but Dennis makes it easy. I can feel included in family celebrations which means so much to me. I highly recommend Chantel's whether you have food allergies or not. Dennis does a great job- taste, presentation, and pricing! read more

I would give 5 stars to Chantel's bakery! We ordered a 10 inch cake enough for 20-25 people, for my son's 8th birthday party. Our cake was Sonic themed cake. Chef Denise is a very good listener. I wanted the cake to be not so sweet with the whipped cream filling inside and butter cream frosting outside. He listened to the requests I made and the cake turned out to be perfect! It was delicious, not overly sweet and beautiful looking! Everyone at the party asked about it and we recommended all the party guests to try Chantel's bakery! read more

I wanted to be impressed and sadly if I was rating just based on the taste, I might've given 4 stars. However, the customer service here was so disappointing that I need to do my best to make sure no one else has the terrible experience I did. I placed an online order 5 days before my stepsons birthday and called the day prior to make sure it would be ready on time. Despite agreeing on 0900 for pick up, I arrived at 1030. The woman working was helping another customer and didn't acknowledge me for 10 minutes. When she finally did, she advised that they were "just finishing" my cake. Flash forward 30 more minutes and it finally came out. Looked great, drove slowly on my way home. 5 minutes into my drive I saw that the top layer of the cake had slid completely off, sticking to the box. When I touched the cake to push it back on, I noticed the frosting had all melted and the cake was hot to the touch. When I got home I called the bakery and she told me to come back. As we were about to begin a birthday party I advised that wasn't possible but requested refund for the ruined cake. She told me she needed to ask the owner and would call right back. 6 hours later I received a call telling me to bring the cake in the next day and the owner would refund my money. At this point the cake had been eaten and I advised her of this to which she responded that returning the cake (god only knows what they were going to do with it, ew) was the only option for refund. I am so disappointed in the lack of professionalism that extended from rude customer service to novice baking. Who frosts a hot cake?! If you know what's good for you, don't go here. The gf cake was good but nothing special. Tasted similar to boxed gf cake mixes. read more

I ordered a cake yesterday (last minute) for my husband's birthday (which is today). I can't tell you how amazed I am by their service and the flavours are AMAZING. I ordered the red velvet cake because it's my husband's favourite and it was absolutely divine and delicious. Moist and flavourful just the way he likes it. Also, they took extra care to deliver it safely; the delivery staff wore a mask and gloves. I'd definitely recommend this bakery to anyone. I drove into work this morning craving Chantel's cupcakes. They are the absolute best - especially the white cake (my favorite, but most places make them dry - but not Chantel's), and Dennis Stanley is so kind and considerate and accommodating. So, back to my craving -- it didn't go away and so I called Chantel's and yes, I ordered white and chocolate cupcakes and they are just the best. Not to mention the best deal in town. Fairly priced and the biggest cupcakes you will find in the area! Dennis can make any event/celebration better, you have to try his cakes, cupcakes, pies, cookies... I have been getting baked goods from Chantel's for years and everything just gets better and better. He can accommodate anything, allergies, I had an employee who was vegan and I ordered a birthday cake for him -- Wow! Everyone loved it and my employee couldn't believe how good it was. Thank you Dennis and Chantel's. We have some birthdays coming up so I will be back in touch soon. Yum! read more

I came across this business through a web search and decided to go with them for my daughter's first birthday party cake based on the good reviews I saw online. Sadly the overall execution of the cake was not what we were hoping for. Details of the cake and a specific color was requested. Considering we paid a lot of money for the cake, we were expecting to be wowed. The pink fondue color was not what was discussed, the filling which was supposed to be fresh berries was mixed in with a lot of whipped cream (not many actual berries) contained in the filling. The overall taste of the cake was OK. In my humble opinion it was not worth the cost. On a separate note I found out my mother went with this bakery for my baby shower cake last year which was lemon flavored and sunflower themed. While the cake design was decently executed, the overall consensus from our guests was that the taste of the cake left much to be desired. She also felt it was expensive. Unfortunately, our expectations were not met on both of these occasions. read more

I ordered a Vegan birthday cake for my daughter. When I arrived to pick it up they informed me that they made a regular cake, not a vegan one. Since this was Saturday and we planned on celebrating Sunday it would have been impossible to find another vegan cake. However, the gentleman (forgot to ask his name, the owner maybe) told me he would remake it on Sunday and personally deliver it in time for our dinner. That's exactly what he did. As you can see from the picture, the cake is beautiful and the customer service above and beyond expectations. I was impressed and happy with his solution. read more

I highly recommend this place for cakes for diabetic patients. This was the only place in northern Virginia that sells such cakes. Other bakeries should take note and make these cakes as well besides vegan and gluten free cakes. The bakery was also accommodating towards my last minute request. The cake was delicious and you can't tell that the cake is made with sugar substitute. read more

I'd give them a negative review if possible. My family has never been so disrespected and treated so poorly. paid for a cake, arrived late w/wrong cake, asked for reimbursement, and never paid back. very negative & demeaning attitude towards the Spanish-speaking people/ Hispanic community and laughs in others' face when they can't understand. read more

My 23 year old daughter surprised me with a free evening she had on her birthday, so I was in a panic to find a birthday cake. I called Chantel's Bakery at 10 am and they were willing to make a freshly baked, beautiful cake for 3:30pm THAT SAME DAY!!! It was moist, delicious, and sooooo beautiful! I absolutely love Chantel's Bakery! Had a specialty cake made for a celebration and it turned out exactly how I wanted it. This review is not about the product, it's about the customer service. I work in the service industry, and I'm more than familiar with the concept of what it takes to run a business. In this instance, I can't say enough about what a great product Chantel's produces. The cakes are amazing. Both in their artistry as well as taste, however where my problem begins is with the customer service. Dennis, the baker in particular. I've never known a more attitudinal and surly individual and because of his rude treatment, I don't care how good they are, if these cakes were baked by Jesus himself in his own kiln in Jerusalem, I'd never go back. In this case, I ordered two birthday cakes via email, as instructed. Never heard back (unprofessional) so I called to see if I could place an order over the phone and Dennis the baker picked up . After placing my order, he asked for a credit card saying he couldn't place an order without payment up front. I gave him my credit card info over the phone. I remember specifically because I was driving at the time and remember pulling over because I didn't want to risk getting in an accident over a cake order. Fast forward to the day of pick up. I sent my husband to pick up the cakes at the appointed time. Not only were they not ready, but Dennis told my husband I never paid and that I was supposed to call him back with my cc number. He declared this information angrily as if I was somehow trying to get out of paying. The issue to me is not the miscommunication, it's his completely jacked up attitude. People make mistakes, people misunderstand, but Dennis was rude and insisted to my husband that I just didn't pay. I told him that maybe he was confusing me with another client but that's not really the point. Whether he was at fault or I was at fault, all he had to do was say was that my cc needed to be run again and we could have moved on. But he was too intent on being an angry, rage infused jerk, desperately in need of anger management classes and as a result, lost our business. Chantel's needs to fire him and find someone who can actually handle customer service. Chef Dennis? Please. More like Chef Menace. read more

Made a pretty custom cake for a birthday party. Super nice guy who does good work. Hands down this is my favorite bakery for gluten free cakes and cupcakes!!! Dennis, the owner, recently made me a dozen chocolate cupcakes and I can't tell you how good they were. They were moist, full of chocolate and there was no dryness like you often find in other gluten free products. Chantal's offers delivery service and it was right on time. He told me he'd drop the cupcakes off in the evening and there they were. The cupcakes were specially made and absolutely delicious. I encourage all families and people who are looking for gluten free baked goods to patronize this place. They were worth it! read more

Years ago I ordered a cake for a birthday party. I ordered over the phone and asked for a "desert cowboy" theme. I didn't really care much what it looked like, I just wanted it to fit the theme of the elaborate, costumed party where the birthday boy was going to be dressed as a sheriff. This is what I got when I picked up, a totally green cake with a river running through the middle and plastic horses and Native American figurines stuck to it. I guess I should have gone into the store to approve of a design in person but how could I have imagined that anyone thought "desert cowboy" meant completely covered in greenery with a river running through it. The part I hated the most was there are TWO DIFFERENT SIZES of horse figurines on there, so there was not even continuity within the cake itself. Guests even joked that instead of a desert theme it was a FARM cake. The entire party was desert cowboy themed with people dressed in costume and the birthday boy was a country western sheriff, and there were fake horses to ride and life-sized cactus decorations, so the cake looked extra stupid. The cake was very expensive too, and just tasted ok. The leftovers molded over the very next day so it was a disappointing experience all around. read more

This review is for their custom cakes only - I don't have experience with their cookies or other products. I was very disappointed with a design for what was supposed to be a professional custom cake from this shop. However the design was very disappointing. It looked nothing like the examples presented. If the shop had explained that the designs were not within their skill level, that would have been fine. But instead, they reassured me they could do the design, but then executed so poorly that the cake became the joke of our party. It was a complete fail and a big disappointment. The cake received was much more like a beginner's first attempt at cake design -- definitely not worth the price of a custom cake. I definitely don't suggest relying on this place if you have a special occasion. read more

HUGE shout out to Chef Dennis and the Chantel's Bakery team! This business was highly recommended to me and now I understand why! Wow. Chef Dennis baked two cakes for my husband's 60th birthday party. He made a carrot cake and a black forest cake, both of which were delicious and beautiful. The party was in a restaurant. Even other diners asked about where we got the cakes. The party guests raved about them also. Several of the carrot cake fans said that it was the best carrot cake that they have ever had. The restaurant manager also inquired about the cakes and where they were made. I love to support local businesses and a neighbor recommended him. I highly recommend Chantel's Bakery. I'm definitely sold on the service and quality of this bakery. I'm new to the area and had an insane craving for a cupcake. I couldn't believe how hard it was to satisfy such a simple task. I called this bakery and Dennis answered and was very accommodating. Although they usually bake by custom order. He had just made a batch of cupcakes and said I was welcome to drop by. I was so excited and drove from Brambleton to his bakery to get my cupcake. Once I got there, he shared a little history about how he got started and explained his unique approach that caters to individuals with food sensitivities and allergies. I was quite impressed. Now that I finally got a hold of a cupcake, I didn't really know what to expect. I was hoping for the best. Well, after my first bite, I was in cupcake heaven. This will definitely be my go-to bakery whenever I'm in the area. I liked the fact that the cupcake wasn't overly sweet and it was very light. I'm not a person that likes icing but totally enjoyed the icing. So if you're looking for a great spot that delivers awesome customer service, quality and overall satisfaction, I'd highly recommend giving this bakery a try. read more

If you need a bakery that is helpful, patient, kind, and just overall amazing, you went to the place! I can't thank them enough for the helpful and kind service they provided. I live in Florida and my dad lives in Virginia. I called from Florida in hopes they would deliver a cake to my dads work for me for his birthday. They were more than happy to do it and were so kind to. I placed my order online and they kept me informed when the cake was made and on the way to my dad. My dads work has multiple buildings and I didn't know which one he was in and the man who was delivering the cake was so patient with me while I tried to figure it out. All the way from Florida I was able to surprise my dad at work with a cake with help from this bakery. He even said it was the best cake he's ever had (I got him a German chocolate cake). The cake came out beautifully and also it was huge! Thank you to this bakery if I could give them 10 stars I would. I will be buying his cakes from this bakery every year read more

Sadly this isn't the great review I had hoped to write. We used Chantels many years ago for all of our parties. We loved the cakes, they were fresh, soft and tasty. I have now tried two different cakes in the last year and both cakes tasted freezer burned and old. I swear to you they are baking cakes and freezing them and decorating the last minute. It was incredibly disappointing as I thought maybe the one we got early this year was a one off but we just got and one and it was the exact same. The cake was hard and dry, the icing tasted like a freezer and the coloring of the white icing had more of a brownish tinge. Sadly Chantels isn't what it used to be and at their price point it needs to be stellar. Try Sweetz for some of the freshest cake you will taste or honestly Wegmans killed it as a correction cake for Chantels disappointment. read more
