This was my first time ordering from Chantel's Bakery and had a wonderful experience. I needed to order a cake at the last minute and they were able to help me. Not knowing any other allergy free bakery in the area, I was so glad to have found a bakery that could deliver just that. My whole experience from talking to the store to placing the order within a few minutes on their site -- everything went smoothly! I was beyond grateful that they offered so many options for allergy free cakes, all the way from the cake to the type of frosting you wanted! The cake tasted amazing! The cocoa flavor was the star of the show and nothing felt artificial! Delicious cake, 100% recommended!

My grandson just turned one and he loves Coco Melon. Chantel's Bakery designed a Coco Melon cake for the occasion. The cake was light, moist, and delicious. It was adorable and the kids really loved the Coco Melon characters on top. The cake was huge and plenty to feed everyone. We only had one hiccup and that was the cake wasn't ready at the agreed upon time, so my son had to wait about 20 minutes for it to be finished. But, it looked perfect when they were done. Other than that, everything was wonderful and they added some cupcakes to our order because we had to wait. Which I thought was a very nice thing to do. I would definitely recommend Chantel's Bakery for your next cake.

I have been getting cakes and desserts from Chef Dennis for over 21 years. Have gotten many birthday and holiday cakes and desserts from Chantel's. This year we tried the Smith Island cake; the chocolate was delicious and caramel was a satisfying sweet treat. Service is always excellent; Chef Dennis and team go above and beyond to ensure excellent service. You can smell the sweet confections as soon as you open the door to the shop. Never a long wait for help.

I have been hearing about Chantel's amazing cakes from a friend for years. For my granddaughter's first birthday I needed an allergen free cake and decided to go to Chantel's. It was the most wonderful experience. From ease of ordering, to sending photos of exactly what kind of mermaid cake we wanted and picking it up there was not a single hiccup. We had the most incredibly beautiful cake that tasted out of this world! This will be my go to custom cake bakery from now on!!

Please don't come here!!!!! He is unprofessional!!!!!!!!!!!!!I This man essentially robbed us without a gun he ruined our birthday he charged us $116 for 12 cupcakes!!!!!!! Please don't come here!!!!! Save your hard earned money .I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with a recent order I placed for cupcakes at your establishment. I specifically requested that monk fruit be used as a sugar substitute for the cupcakes intended for my cousin's and my birthdays. When I placed the order, Dennis informed me that he had not used monk fruit before, to which I responded that I appreciated his willingness to try. Dennis provided an initial estimate for the cupcakes, but on the day of pickup, I was informed that the price had increased. Ultimately, I paid $116 for cupcakes that were of substandard quality, resembling hard cornbread. The only modification I requested was the sugar substitute. Given this, I am puzzled as to why the texture of the cupcakes was so poor. I believe it would have been appropriate for Dennis to contact me if he encountered issues with the recipe, particularly if the cupcakes did not meet acceptable standards. Instead, I received a product that was not fit for consumption. As a result, I felt compelled to donate the cupcakes to a homeless shelter. This is criminal to have sold these bad tasting cupcakes. I should call my bank and stop payment! This experience has been disappointing, and I will not be returning to your bakery. I strongly recommend reviewing your quality control processes to prevent similar issues in the future.

We had cupcakes catered and they were moist, delicious and beautiful! I cannot say enough good things about this bakery and the ability to take care of those with allergies or intolerances to different ingredients! They were great communicators and timely!

A few years ago my mom was diagnosed with diabetes. I am a decent baker and have been able to switch to non-sugar alternatives to help satisfy her sweet tooth, but cakes just elude me. Mine are dry and kind of gross. Enter Chantel's Bakery. My mom was recently diagnosed with cancer so I wanted to do something special for her birthday that was landing on the same day as one of her procedures. You would have never guessed that the cake was diabetic friendly. It was sweet, moist (seriously, what magic do you use to make your cakes that moist???), delicious, and beautiful. I got chocolate cake with chocolate frosting (my mom's favorite), which usually is a bit too much chocolate for me, but I could not get enough of this cake. I think we just may start making up holidays as an excuse to order a cake from Chantel's Bakery. Totally worth the drive out to Sterling!

I used Chantel's Bakery for my daughter's Sweet 16th birthday cake and my husband's retirement cake. My daughter's cake had more design work to it being 2 tiered with several details. I was shocked to see how close Chef Dennis created her cake from the picture we gave him! He is wonderful in his craft! I asked him not to put the diamond ribbon between the tiers as that would get messy when cutting the cake. The crown and the candles were supplied by me. Both cakes were delicious! I highly recommend Chef Dennis for all your cakes.

Amazing! Chantel's bakery delivered the most beautiful cake for our granmas 80th birthday party with less than 24 hours notice. He got the theme design to perfection! The cake was delicious!

I have ordered a few birthday cakes from this bakery and they have all tasted great. This review is for my daughter's cake. I ordered a cake and all I wanted on it was "happy birthday Katie". I didn't specify a color or design. I picked up the cake and was blown away when I saw it. From the color of the frosting to the purple butterflies everything was beautiful. Chef Dennis is a consummate baker. He provides personal service and treats each customer like family. His cakes are beautiful and delicious. When another bakery delivered a cake to my daughter's wedding venue, I panicked, I called Chef Dennis and he assured me that he was 3 minutes away with our cake in his van! Yesterday I went to Chantel's Bakery with my older sister. We were coming from Ashburn and we really wanted a cupcake - so we found this bakery online and called. Chef Dennis was amazing, the phone call went well and everything from the service to the tasting of the cupcakes was more than exceptional. My toddler is allergic to almost everything. She cannot have wheat, soy, dairy, eggs, nuts, even strawberries and apples. I thought tasty birthday cakes/cupcakes would be impossible until I found Chantel's Bakery! They created a gorgeous and delicious cake for the non allergy crew and beautiful yummy cupcakes for my daughter and her friends. I really wish I could have given this at least a 3 star rating but it did not meet mine or any of my guests expectations at all.(including the birthday girl) The only reason I give it a 1 star rating is because of the cakes appearance. I had ordered a Tres Leches flavored cake and it tasted nothing like it! It was very dry, almost as if it was just a plain vanilla flavored cake. We were all bummed out. This was not worth the $150 plus $20 tip that I paid for it. But I guess you win some you lose some, right? I did reach out to them (November 3) and only got asked if it was about the " 21 cake". I replied (November 5) and haven't gotten anything since then. I hope if you order from them that your order doesn't come out a flop like ours did, best of luck! read more

Due to my son's peanut allergy, we always used to make our own cakes or buy from the grocery store packaged peanut-free cakes, so I was excited to stumble upon the website for Chantel's Bakery. I gave a call on July 3 and even though the business is closed July 4 was told the cake could be ready before noon the morning of July 5. Hosted an engagement party for my daughter and her fiancé and wanted to impress with a beautiful cake. The baker was super helpful during our first in person appointment and I gave him some guidance and let him create. When we picked up the cake we were floored! He said he hadn't decided on the decoration and woke up in the middle of the night with a vision - fresh roses. The cake was so beautiful and his well wishes to me and my husband were so thoughtful and touching I actually teared up. I ordered a cake for my boss that needed to be delivered on August 14 at 10 AM. No one was home and the delivery driver called me. He went above and beyond to get the cake delivered. Five-word summary for a five-star review: Chef Dennis is truly wonderful. My husband and I celebrated our 11th anniversary this past Saturday. We'd ordered our wedding cake from Chantel's and had been very happy with it. The Tuesday before, my husband asked if we could get a mini version of our wedding cake because the one-year freezer slice had been basically Styrofoam (I didn't realized he'd been carrying that regret the whole time, haha!). I called Chantel's Bakery near close, not expecting that Chef Dennis could make something on short notice that I could pick up on Friday. He said he could, so I asked for just a 6" white cake, chocolate ganache filling, and white icing--what we'd had on the wedding. He asked if I wanted anything written on it, I said "Happy 11th Anniversary," and when he asked for a color, I said "dove grey or silver" (some of our wedding colors). I didn't expect anything beyond some basic rosettes because c'mon, two business days for a homemade three-layer cake. I showed up to THIS. It was so far beyond what I had expected, and Chef Dennis helped me take it to my car with tips on keeping it fresh and good wishes for our anniversary. Not only did we have a wonderfully delicious cake (we're still eating several days later with the same taste and crumb--it's so rich and tasty!), I have some lovely butterfly keepsakes for our memory box and a go-to place for when I want a cake made with care and love. read more

I can't recommend this bakery enough! Not only has Chantel's bakery provided many milestone cakes in our family for years, they single-handedly saved me from my poor planning for graduation. I was sure I waited too long as it was a little more than a week out. This didn't phase Chantel's! While my idea was sufficient, he took it a step further to offer ideas to make these cookies meaningful and so much better! They were a hit and we couldn't be more grateful! Chantel's Bakery is our go-to for dietary cakes and cupcakes, and we never go wrong. I LOVE the strawberry vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free cake. We've had it on multiple occasions. I have used Chantel's twice in the last three months for both gluten-free and allergy-free cakes/cupcakes and have been absolutely thrilled with the results. After being told by my son's wedding cake baker that people with allergies "wouldn't expect dessert" at his wedding, we knew we had to find a bakery that understood what we needed. Dennis absolutely came through. He made cupcakes that were so appreciated by our vegan and allergy-prone guests (and they were yummy to boot!) Excellent service and dedication to safety. He even gave me tips to make sure everyone felt safe during the event and offered his number for any questions that people had. I will be a customer for life! read more

If I could give 10 stars, I would. Chantel helped me out in a pinch, I called and asked for a vegan cake - they have an entire allergy friendly section, and i went online and chose only dairy free. He called me immediately to make sure I didn't miss anything and that my son would be safe with the cake. The cake was created in record time, looked amazing, was reasonably priced and lastly delicious! Please support this small business! read more

Very disappointed. They got my order wrong. Never read basic instructions. Decorated a big catholic looking cross on both cakes and I'm not Christian. We were appalled. Dennis never fixed the issue or apologized. Bad customer service, and at these prices they ought to be roll out a red carpet. I'll never use or refer them again. read more

I was searching all the DMV area from NY for a cake for my friends 50th birthday and came across this Gem (Dennis). I read the reviews as I was not familiar with his work. I saw the great reviews, but I focused on the negative reviews. We have our own expectations (I do NOT knock personal opinions), but what I noticed was NO ONE spoke poorly of the cake quality. I took a chance and let ME TELL YOU!!!.. I was not disappointed!. Dennis excuted my vision and exceeded my expectations. I chose the lemon and blue velvet (not very known in VA) The cake made me and the party goers do a praise dance... Professionalism and patience is what I got from Dennis (I called a million times) he never rushed me, he even assisted me with ordering some accessories for the cake. He went above and beyond for me. This is the second time I place an order from Chantel's and they are just awesome at making allergy free cakes! My 5 year old daughter has an allergy to eggs and nuts and not many bakeries around here make allergy free cakes that actually taste good. Today, I picked up some eggless and nut less cake pops for my daughter and they look and taste absolutely delicious! Mr. Dennis Stanley has baked "any" cake upon request for the past 5 years. All of the cakes he's created were not only eloquently created, but the taste of the cakes are amazing! My favorite is the red velvet and the strawberry flavor! It's best to call him and leave him a message. He will get back to you within 1-2 business days. We got a wedding cake from Chantel's yesterday. It was delicious, beautiful, and the customer service (by the owner) was excellent. We needed a cake that was gluten and nut free. Last Saturday we went to Chantel's and the owner came out. He pretty much told us he could do anything we wanted. He guided us through the process and asked what time we needed it. They called early yesterday to tell us it was ready when we were. Definitely recommend Chantel's and will use again. read more

Chantel's Bakery is absolutely fantastic! If you're looking for a bakery in the northern VA area, this is IT! I placed an order online for Pineapple Shortcake made for Father's Day. I specified to not make it super sweet because my dad doesn't really eat sweets. And OMG their cake was amazing! It was soo moist, and the pineapple was so fresh, and the frosting was lightly whipped. My dad had multiple servings and he NEVER does that! I could eat the whole cake but it wasn't my occasion hahaha! My experience in general was fantastic from placing the order, pick up, and consumption. Their online ordering platform is super easy and convenient -this is how I like to do things haha. They have a delivery option but I chose to pick up. Upon walking in, I was greeted and they brought the beautiful cake out. Fast, friendly, and simple! I look forward to trying their pastries and cookies! They make a whole bunch of sweets. They also have gluten free and diabetic options too which I absolutely love! I'm so glad that I have such an awesome bakery nearby. I'll be ordering again very soon! read more

We used Chantel's for our wedding cake and we were very happy! I was going through a rough time, food allergy-wise and needed a cake that was dairy, gluten, and nut free. Dennis did an amazing job! The cake was beautiful and we literally could not tell the difference between the dairy/gluten/nut free cake and the regular cake. Leftovers of both cakes were packed up and sent home with us. Since the containers were not marked my husband had to taste test to figure out which was which and he could not do it. He is normally very picky and does not like cakes that are dairy or gluten free! Dennis also delivered the cake to our venue out in Purcellville, VA which had to have been a 45 minute or more drive for him. We felt taken care of on our wedding day. This past week was my husband's birthday and unfortunately, I started reacting to dairy again. I called Chantel's to see if he could make some dairy free cupcakes for me. He did and not only were they really good, they were generous portions for a very reasonable price. It sucks having food allergies but Dennis makes it easy. I can feel included in family celebrations which means so much to me. I highly recommend Chantel's whether you have food allergies or not. Dennis does a great job- taste, presentation, and pricing! read more

I love their ham and cheese croissant. It's greasy, I prefer it cold, my kid only likes it warmed up. Donut is by far the best gf cake style donut we've ever had. It's light, flavor is incredible, moist. I typically skip gf cake donuts, but this one was calling to me, so happy we got it. Cinnamon roll was not good. Frosting had zero sugar. It was hard as a rock, so no one wanted to eat it. But as most gf cinnamon rolls, you have to eat them within a few hours, so this one could have just been too old. There's a decent amount of gluten free bakeries scattered across the DMV area, but this is by far the best for bread! The best variety, fresh and frozen. If they sell out of something you can count on they'll have a back up of something similar. Also. surprised to see complaining about prices..... I actually think they aee cheap for gluten free items!

On November 5th, we celebrated our mother's 90th birthday, and the plans for her cake were incredibly important. Chantel's Bakery, under the expertise of Chef Dennis, was chosen to create a special cake for this milestone--and what an extraordinary cake it was! Chantel's creation became the highlight of the day, stealing the spotlight among all the festivities. We needed a sugar-free cake, and my mother requested a strawberry shortcake with purple and yellow accents, her favorite colors. When I saw the cake and its exquisite packaging, I was blown away. The presentation was fit for a queen, with a see-through box that showcased the cake beautifully. Not only was it visually stunning, but it was also absolutely delicious. The cake was moist, with a wonderful texture and no unpleasant aftertaste, which is often a challenge with sugar-free baked goods. I have been buying cakes from Dennis for almost 25 years and have never been disappointed!! My daughter was born with fatal allergies to all peanuts, tree nuts and shellfish. It had been almost impossible to find a bakery that would assure us that their product would be allergen free.......until we met Dennis!!! Dennis has been baking cakes for every special occasion in our family since my daughter's second birthday, from childhood right up to her graduate school celebration and onward! His cakes are not only safe, they are incredibly delicious!! Many of my friends order cakes from Dennis, even though they have no dietary concerns; they are so impressed with his work. My other daughter has no allergies, but always insists on getting cakes from Chantel's. Hubby ordered a Pecan Pie, after I, the loving wife, attempted to make one to husbands liking twice, and was unsuccessful. I used the "Classic Recipe" online, but no luck, because it just wasn't right. We've been living here for years and hubby just happened upon your bakery in Sterling, ordered and then picked up a Pecan Pie. We weren't expecting much but when we tried it, we both loved the pie. You know how when you bite into something so good, you can't stop saying YUM? That's what we were doing. Absolutely fantastic job Dennis! I live in Charlotte, NC and called Chantel's Bakery for a baby shower cake. OMG, the cake was beautiful and meticulously crafted. The staff and service at Chantel's bakery were truly courteous and amazing. By living out of town, we were initially apprehensive about the designing of the cake, but after a professional telephone conversation with Dennis, all fears went away. Dennis assured me that the cake would be professionally crafted and delivered timely. Well, Chantel's Bakery outperformed my expectations! So it's February 21, 2025 and my best friend from nursery school turns 63. We've been hanging out for nearly 60 years but I am in Colorado and he is in Reston Virginia. His wife is working too hard to make a cake so I decide I'm gonna find him a cake I look up who the best cake people are and I come up with Chantel's bakery.. As soon as it opens, I dial and little do I know, but it's the head guy chef Dennis! At the last moment he makes me an unbelievable cake and has it delivered to my buddies house. Everything goes great and the cake is beautiful and my friend says it's the best cake I've ever eaten in his life and his beautiful wife says the same thing! It wasn't for chef Dennis. I have dairy and gluten sensitivities that began in my 20's and I can't remember the last time I had a birthday cake. Someone told me about Chantel's cakes, so my only birthday request this year was a cake from Chantel's. It was beautiful and delicious and best of all everyone loved it and no one would believe it was dairy and gluten free. Chef Dennis spoke to me so that he fully understood my allergies when I placed the order. If you or your family or friends deal with allergies I highly recommending getting a cake from Chantel's, His cakes are for everyone, but they are truly special for those of us who are so use to limited food choices. Dennis Stanley is an amazing pastry chef! I have contracted him several times for different occasions ie. Birthday, anniversary, baby and wedding showers. Show him a picture or give him an idea of what it is you want and he will make it happen. My most recent request was my daughters wedding cake. it was a destination wedding at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club (an hour and a half away) and Dennis delivered and assembled the cake himself.... It was incredible... A three layer white chocolate cake with raspberry filling, it was beautifully decorated, moist and delicious! The positive compliments from the guests were bountiful. Chef Dennis was SO extremely accommodating and friendly on the phone. I didn't give him much to work with, just the flavors and what we wanted it to say, no design ideas what so ever. AMAZING cakes! They taste delicious and they are always decorated so beautifully. We even did a special birthday Star Wars cake for my hubby the other month. We always order diabetic birthday cakes in our family because we have 2 family members with diabetes. They taste unbelievably delicious; moist cake, tasty frosting- you'd never guess they were anything but the real thing. I love that my family members who have diabetes don't have to worry about the size slice of cake they take (they can take just as big of a piece as anyone else!) or needing to check and re- check their insulin levels. I was looking for a creative and fun thing to do for my mother's 91st birthday. Living out of town makes it even more difficult. Chantel's came to the rescue!!! They delivered special fruit tarts and some diabetic goodies to Mom at her " breakfast club" in her retirement community. Dennis is a true gem! I'm very happy with the cake we ordered! We gave less than a week's notice, and ordered a chocolate jungle-themed half-sheet cake, allergen-free. it was DELICIOUS. We didn't tell our guests it was allergen-free until they were already eating it, and if we hadn't mentioned it, no one would have tasted the difference. I'm extremely food sensitive, and I ate 2 pieces without a reaction! I usually can't have chocolate, but the cake was otherwise so clean (for me), that i didn't react to the chocolate. The night before I came across their website that allowed me to order the complete cake online...set a pick date/time...and pay for it. Price compared to other cakes on line was reasonable. I really thought it would end up being one of those situations where the website lets you order but the order doesn't really go through. I have traveled all over the world, and Chantel's is the best bakery I've ever known!! I have been a customer and a fan since the year 2000. I can't say enough good things about this bakery. The presentation, customer service and taste of everything is off the charts. And even when I place an order at the last minute, Dennis will always accommodate me. They even deliver, which really saves you time when you're hosting an event. We find any excuse to order from Chantel's. We even ordered a huge cake at my job over 10 years ago when the DC sniper was caught. read more

Chef Dennis is one of the most talented, genuine and caring persons I have ever met. Besides caring for the Loudoun community, he is a magnificent and conscientious Chef who was one of the very first to have real "edible" sugar free, dairy free, gluten free and nut free cakes in our metro area before these became a popular trend. His cakes are moist and delicious and also a piece of art! I have ordered cakes and cupcakes for my events and personal affairs and recommend him to everybody I can. I absolutely love this bakery! Dennis the owner is one of the nicest people and so accommodating for people with food allergies like myself! We frequently get cupcakes and have even gotten my birthday cake made by him. All of his sweets are delicious and in fact my whole family who is not dairy free has enjoyed the cupcakes and cakes as well that I have gotten for myself. We love Dennis and this bakery and will be continued customers for years. You need to check this place out especially if you have food allergies or restrictions, they are awesome! read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dennis and his team at Chantel's Bakery! We had our custom cake pop order fall through at the last minute (for my son's birthday party) and Dennis came through for us right away! He had them ready same day and even offered to meet me at a more convenient location since Sterling isn't close to us at all. Not only was the customer service outstanding, but cake pops were DELICIOUS!!! So many guests at the party were raving about them. I highly recommend Chantel's Bakery and can't wait to order from them again. read more

Wow - Chef Dennis is the best. My 4 year old wanted a unicorn cake for her 5th birthday party. She and I looked on Pinterest and she found a really complicated rainbow haired alicorn (unicorn with wings - yup that's a thing) cake she loved. I found Chantel's doing a random search of the area online and we drove over to place the order. The shop smelled like heaven. All the 5 star reviews are well deserved - my daughters cake (and the additional 12 unicorn cake pops I ordered) were both beautiful and delicious. I would highly recommend Chantel's. read more
