Beautiful decor and tasty food! Chan's Tea House is a lovely gem hidden in the West View Shopping Center. The tea served with your meal and Chinese zodiac placemat gave me a lot of nostalgia for Chinese restaurants I went to growing up. Their food is so good and came out very quickly! I love chicken with broccoli and thought there's was tasty. Try the general tso's as well! All of the staff we interacted with were kind and helpful. A great place to go with family, or a quick bite to eat.

Strawberry Boba with mixed fruit jellies. We drank the top portion before I remembered to snap a pic.

We can't get enough of Chan's boba. Every flavor is delicious ( especially Thai milk, mango and strawberry) and is filled to the brim. Most places are 75% ice. Not Chan's. They do not skimp and we love it. Online ordering is so easy. It's efficient and we always get exactly what we order. The food is very good. Our favorite is General Tso and the lo mein.

For a strip mall Chinese restaurant, this goes well beyond what you would expect. This place could definitely stand alone in a building that is for sure. When you walk inside you are transported. Like I said you would not expect this from a strip mall. Inside there is a great design, feels like you are in an authentic Chinese building. We were greeted swiftly and lead to a booth. Handed menus and we were on our way to figure out what we wanted to eat. Shortly after we started looking over the menu we were brought water and hot tea. The tea is delicious and you can add what you like to sweeten it or go at it unsweetened. Our service was outstanding the whole time we were here. Every time our server came to the table there was a smile on her face, she was quite pleasant. We went with Avocado Cheese Wontons as our appetizer. Serving size here felt small, but we had to remember that it was an appetizer, not a full meal. These wontons were amazing. You got the cream cheese taste with just a hint of avocado, as well as the green tint. Pair that with some duck sauce and they were a hit. For my appetizer I went with Sweet and Sour Chicken. I have not had this in a while and was craving it. I was happy to have waited so long to have it again because this place did it justice. The chicken came from breast meat. The pieces were longer than you would think, but they were delicious. The coating was great, held the sauce and stayed crispy. Speaking of the sauce, loved it. Nice and sweet with pieces of pineapple, red bell pepper, and onion in it as well. I usually have leftovers when it comes to Chinese food, but not this time. I ate every single bite of this meal. So satisfying.

Cold day ------ hot soup. I was in between appointments and stopped in for lunch. As i walked in, a display caught my eye Seafood soup. The waitress was very open with the eggroll origins. The shrimp rolls were the only type MADE onsite. I was a little disappointed that the mustard was served in a picnic condiment container and didn't make me sweat or clear my sinuses. The soup came out in serving bowl portion with snow peas, parsley, and lemon grass over rice noodles. I almost finished the bowl.

This place is amazing. Don't be fooled by the old reviews which linked to the old place. The food here is insanely good. The chef special has a ton of food. Ryan the waiter is really upbeat and friendly. Give this place a chance.

Really good limited menu Chinese. They concentrate on dishes/sauces they have perfected unlike some Chinese places that list two pages of Chef's Specials (aka expensive usually) and another four pages of staples like General Tso's chix. We noticed a lot of folks eating the "pu pu platter" including sterno for roasting what looked like pork ribs. Light white sauce on scallops/shrimp is delicate. Great service. Nice atmosphere. Cocktails/beer available. Bathroom was very neat and clean.

The menu had many of the expected food items as well as others not so common. On Saturday and Sunday there are many, many more. I always start with vegetable spring rolls. These were especially good. We ordered takeout this time, and the overall experience was great. We placed an order online, and everything was very neatly packaged and ready to go when expected. The food even travelled fairly well, such that it was still in good shape after traveling home. The restaurant itself is in a bit of a drab strip mall, but it's generally nicely decorated with colorful signage and a nicely kept interior. In terms of the food, the shrimp spinach dumplings were really nicely done, with lots of flavor and texture. My partner especially enjoyed the barbecue pork bao, which were nicely steamed with a very flavorful filling. The egg tart was good, but not really my thing. It had a bit of a caramelized sugar flavor reminiscent of waffles with syrup. The spicy oil splashed noodles, one of the noodle dishes on the menu, was generally lacking: some nice toppings, but not much flavor. Overall, this is a nice little place that seems to be fairly well run. I suggest going for the dim sum and giving up on expectations for anything on the menu that isn't dim sum. Find another restaurant for your main course.

It did look like something out of a movie scene, and it was extremely busy due to it being a Saturday night. Our server was this sweet lady who had tons of large party groups. She got us our water and took our appetizer orders. We got the Vegetable and Shrimp egg rolls, and they are on the larger side, so order 1 if it's just you. My sister and I split it one and were happy with that. The egg rolls come with sweet and sour sauce and a wasabi/horseradish dipping sauce. I could smell it for days; that stuff is so strong. It took a bit to get our orders in, but we were okay with that since we were all catching up with each other. We then placed our orders, and I got the Shrimp and Garlic Sauce meal and which stated it was on the spicier side, but it was a bit mild for my taste. Mind you, I like fiery spice, but it did keep me from sweating. We also got the Beef with mixed vegetables and the beef with string beans. Both dishes were tasty and not too spicy. This is great for people who can not handle too much spice. We were there for a bit, and we paid our bills and were out. The portions are huge, so we all left with boxes. 4 stars for sure!

While I felt like the original location was slightly better with the overall flavors, this place was pretty darn good. Service was friendly and decent too. The menu is PACKED with many authentic items, so much to choose from, but be sure to use the Chinese menu, not the American menu. The meats in our food choices were tender and fresh... same with the veggies. The flavors were very nice and spice level was low when I asked for "regular" level of spicy, so if I came back, I'd ask for a little more heat. We enjoyed most everything was got - The Dan Dan Noodles were basic, tho flavored nicely, they were like an "Asian spaghetti" so they weren't as good as they should have been. The cucumbers were boring, they definitely needed to have smashed garlic sauce and hot peppers added to the flavor from the kitchen, not just me adding heat at the table. The cumin beef was so tender and tasty! But needed more spice. The scallion pancakes were the best I've had yet! Their garlic sauce that came with the scallion pancakes was so incredibly tasty and those pancakes were flakey and done so nicely! For wok'd greenbeans, the only option was to get their stringbeans and pork and ask for no meat, but add spice - this worked PERFECTLY and they wok'd them right! Overall, it was a very nice visit and despite my opinion on the lack of depth of flavor and heat, this place would definitely satisfy most - So Go, give them a try!!

Just be warned that their cucumber salad is just cucumbers (there's no rice vinegar, sesame oil, or soy sauce), this was a let down. But the scallion pancakes and string beans were very good. The service though was a little frustrating. It took a while for a waiter to come to our table. We also had a couple of different waiters because we weren't understood and had to do a lot of pointing at the menu. Aside from that, I'm really happy that this restaurant is on McKnight!

What made me order from here was actually their "no MSG" slogan on the menu. The restaurant itself is located in a strip mall near the intersection of backcock and Thompson in the north hills. The shop itself is small and may have had seating but since the pandemic only has a partition inside where you pick up your food. Out of the 50-100 times I have been here (that's not an exaggeration) my food has been ready every time with only 1 exception and I have only had problems with my order once as well. For dinner on this evening I decided to go with the general tsaos combination platter while my wife went with the chicken and broccoli and we also ordered a large wonton soup. My normal order here is the Szechuan chicken but by this point I have ordered most of the menu from the garlic chicken to the happy family and even the mapo tofu. It's all very American Chinese food which is what I expected and good if thats what you like. On this past time I really enjoyed my general Tsaos chicken as it had a thin breading on the outside and then the sauce itself was both spicy and sweet. My wife and I also love their egg rolls here and order one every time we come. While they can be greasy at times, the outside is always super crispy while the inside is hot and flavorful. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. As a matter of a fact I have again and again and Rice King is my top American Chinese food restaurant to go to in the North Hills.

In the past couple of years, I have ordered food from JJ Panda several times. For all orders, the restaurant promptly cooked my foods, and the time between my orders and deliveries was 24-30 minutes on weekend days. Overall, I think that this restaurant serves typical Americanized Chinese foods. Here are my reviews for the foods from all orders: Cream Cheese Wonton - 4.5 stars - Six wontons had a crispy dumpling and a tasty cheese filling. Chicken on a Stick - 4.5 stars - This appetizer consisted of four American-style kabobs that were different than we had expected. Chunks of meat were very tender and juicy and were on a stick with chunks of green peppers and onions. Chashao Bao - 4 stars - Three BBQ pork buns consisted of fluffy dough that was filled with a good amount of tasty BBQ pork. General Tso's Chicken - 3 stars - I had requested a spiciness of medium, but it actually tasted mild. The meat seemed to be mostly dark and slightly tough. On the side were white rice that was steamed perfectly and an egg roll that was large, had a crispy exterior, and a flavorful filling. Chicken with Broccoli - 4.5 stars - The meat was juicy, the broccoli was fresh, and the sauce was flavorful. On the side were fried rice, which my husband liked but said that he would prefer to not contain peas and carrots, and an egg roll. Chicken Lo Mein - 4 stars - My husband ate this entree. He described it as "good." Beef Lo Mein - 4 stars - My husband ate this entree and said that it was good. Vegetable Roll - 4.5 stars - This vegetable roll had a crispy outer wrapper and tasty shredded vegetables inside. Shrimp Egg Roll - 4 stars - This egg roll had a crispy outer wrapper and lots of fresh vegetables and some shrimp inside. Vegetable Soup - 4.5 stars - This soup contained mushrooms, celery, broccoli, peas, and green peppers. These vegetables were fresh and healthy. Stir Fried Vegetable Ramen - 3.5 stars - I thought that I had ordered the Vegetables Ramen Soup that was right next to this other entree in the menu. Oops! This entree contained no broth. It contained many noodles and some fresh peas, carrots, broccoli, and other vegetables. Vegetable Ramen Soup - 3 stars - I finally ordered what I intended to order. I felt surprised that the noodles were not typical ramen noodles. The noodles looked more like Italian pasta noodles. Furthermore, the broth had a very mild flavor and could use more seasoning. Mixed Vegetables - 4 stars - The vegetables were very fresh, were cooked very well, and had a flavorful sauce. Specific vegetables included broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, corn, pea shoots, I think bok choy and water chestnuts. Broccoli with Garlic Sauce - 4 stars - This entree was supposed to be "Medium hot," but it tasted mild to me. Sweet and Sour Shrimp - 3.5 stars - Several large shrimps had a crispy outer breading. Sauce was on the side. Chicken fried rice - 4 stars - My husband ate this entree, and he said that he liked it. He appreciated that the cook left out the peas and carrots as requested. Orange chicken - 3 stars - The chicken meat was tender, and the sauce tasted good, but the breading was very soggy. The breading either fell off on its own, or I pulled it off to avoid eating it. Sesame balls - 4 stars - These sesame balls contained a red-bean paste that tasted very good. My husband and I thought that these sesame balls were crispier than other restaurants' sesame balls.

There were some other options for both the proteins and for the sides, all of which are typical for any mall Chinese restaurant. We also got a large fountain Diet Coke. For both, it was around $18 including tax. The food was really good! We enjoyed both of the chickens, and the rice was also very tasty. The food seemed to be fresh, and everything was hot coming off of the serving bar. Plus, the portions were very generous. Toast, as a platform, does not factor in how busy a restaurant actually is and gave me a thirty minute estimate. When I arrived about thirty five minutes later, there were six other people waiting and I was told it would be another ten minutes. The inside of Jackie Inn consists of a soda cooler, an ice cream cooler, and several areas to stand and wait, but there is no seating for dining in. On this Friday night, I believe there were seven people working, with six focused on food preparation and one person handling the front. The dominant sounds in the restaurant were woks in constant use, which was actually interesting to watch. In the end, my food was ready about twenty minutes after I arrived. For the first fifteen minutes I was fine with the wait, and I am glad they are busy, but I also did not expect to spend that much of my Friday night there. For dinner, I went with the lemongrass basil chicken while my wife chose the combination lo mein along with a chicken egg roll. The menu described my dish as spicy with broccoli, red bell pepper, lemongrass, basil, and a spicy chili sauce. My wife's lo mein was described as containing flank steak, chicken, prawns, carrots, scallions, onions, and fresh egg noodles. While the container initially looked small, the food ended up filling a fairly large bowl once plated. My dish was good. The chicken was moist and juicy, and I appreciated the generous amount of broccoli and bell pepper. The sauce had good flavor, and I even picked out some lemongrass stalks deeper in the dish, but I did not find it spicy at all. My wife really enjoyed her lo mein. She mentioned that while it costs a couple of dollars more than similar places, she feels it is worth it because the food tastes fresher. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I am happy to see Jackie Inn doing good business, I think the food tastes good, and I know my wife really enjoys it.
