Massaman Curry with Chicken
Yuko B.

It had been a while so we went to Chang Thai last Sunday. We got there early so it wasn't busy at first but the tables were almost full by the time we finished. Our server was very accommodating. I couldn't decide between two chicken dishes, the Chang BBQ Chicken and the Crispy Chicken with Peanut Sauce so I asked for her recommendation. She said, "Ooh... those are completely different. But get the BBQ Chicken. It's a good portion." So that's what I ordered. When she brought it out, I was like, "Whoa! That's a lot!" I guess I underestimated what "a half chicken" meant. It was delicious and the meat came right off the bone but I could only eat a quarter of it. While I was eating, our server even brought me some of the peanut sauce they use for the Crispy Chicken with Peanut Sauce so I could try it. That was so thoughtful of her! It tasted great so now I know what I'm ordering next time. My husband ordered his usual, the Massaman curry. The portions are always generous here, and he enjoyed it as always. In our opinion, Chang Thai is one of the best Thai restaurants in this area.

This has been my go to place for 20 years! It is wonderful enough that when my friends who moved to Germany come to visit, Chang Thai is where they want to eat first. The staff is amazing! They remember you personally and your dining preferences. Beautiful clean setting with a great Sushi bar. Fresh ingredients chopped that day. Definitely go today!

Like many others, I'm impressed by The speed and quality of service and food. The lunch specials are awesome, three choices of bento boxes, all with copious amounts of food for $14 ish. I had the pad Thai with California roll and my friend had the chicken fried rice with spicy tuna roll. Delicious!

On this visit I wanted to try the Crispy Chicken with Peanut Sauce. This dish comes with broccoli, white rice, and a gyoza with Thai Chili Sauce. The chicken consists of chunks of white meat that is lightly battered, and then deep fried. I'm not a fan of peanut sauce so I ask for it on the side, and as it turned out that was a good call. The chicken was very tasty and nicely fried to a crunchy exterior. The gyoza was pork filled and was very flavorful, and was further enhanced by the excellent chili sauce. The broccoli was fresh and was tasty as well. The rice was plain, but some soy sauce helped. This was good eats in a pleasant environment with good service. And according to my receipt I was waited on Fredy Mercury!!!

Update 4/29/24 Still our goto place for Thai food. Got a light fare this time through as we weren't extremely hungry. Seated promptly as always in a clean restaurant. We started with cream cheese rolls, crispy, warm and yummy with a sweet dipping sauce. We moved to Thai wonton soup with chicken, delicious. And finally finished with the Thai chicken skewers. Service was on point and the food was awesome as usual. You really need to give these guys a try. Great Thai food CAN be found outside of big cities. This is a good place to start.

Chang Thai is always clean and a great spot for sushi, as well as many other dishes they serve. Service is always good but don't go if you can't be there before 30 minutes of closing. We showed up at 8:00p one night and the lady said, and I quote, "You order fast, you eat fast."

Stepped into this place on a rainy day and there was a good crowd of people dining, which is always a good sign! The menu has quite a few new dishes since I was here a few years ago. Lots of creative new dishes along w the regular Thai standards as well. Today I am having the tuna taki for appetizer and my entree is eggplant and veggies w pork and white rice. I love Thai eggplant, don't know how they make it but I can't seem to replicate it in my own kitchen. My Tuna Taki was nicely presented but not impressed w Ponzo sauce underneath it seemed a little watery. Tuna was just kissed on each side where I prefer a crunchy outer w rare inside but when you put on soy sauce, ginger slices and a dab of the wasabi its still yummy. Then came the huge entrees! I put an impressive dent in my eggplant, pork and veggies. Pork was exceptionally tender. Loved it! Waiters are quick and polite, a nice experience. I will be back to try other food on menu!

Spring Rolls

Great little spot. I called to order takeout for lunch. I was hungry and in need of a treat-yourself-for-making-it-through-the-week kind of lunch. I ordered the spring rolls, the beef street noodles and the mango sticky rice. The person who answered the phone was polite but prompt and promised it would be ready in 20 mins. I showed up 20 mins later, and my meal prepared and packaged. The space was quaint with heavy woodwork but cluttered with the supply back stock. The service was prompt and without frills. I returne to my office to eat and was pleasantly surprised to find everything was still hot and fresh. The spring rolls were flavorful-crisp inside and out. The street noodles were delicious But not revolutionary. The flavors reminded me of an elevated lo mein. The sticky mango rice was my personal favorite. The perfectly-ripened, cold mango complimented the sweet, gooey rice. It was undoubtedly my favorite part of the meal. A solid find in Clemmons. I would recommend them for lunch if in the area.

Made it in without a wait on a Friday night by sitting at the bar. Quick service and even a bit rushed. It is not as good as I remember. I was craving sushi but something was definitely lacking in the flavor. The vibe of the restaurant was fine. However, it felt like everyone was staring at one another. So strange.

I stopped at UPS and hunger hit me. Looking left I saw "Thai Cuisine & Sushi Bar" and turned. It's really a nice looking place inside, but outside looks like a hole in the wall... Huge Plus, the bathroom is clean. I love Thai food so I'm trying their Drunken Noodles. Not Pad Thai which is usually my go to. Of course I begin with Spring Rolls with a plum sauce to heat up with Sriracha. Oh yeah... Yummy. Oh, the Drunken Noodles are so good. Fresh vegetables with pineapple and tomatoes. The soup needs sriracha and the beef was tender and delicious. I guess I could have come earlier as I came at the end of lunch, aka closing time. The food is yummy. I plan to return but I wasn't happy being rushed to finish my meal as I was writing this review at the time and as I was the last one in the dining room. The salad was simple, but the ginger dressing had nice flavor. The soup, though, really missed the mark for me. I've had a lot of clear broth soups like this from many different Asian restaurants over the years, and I don't want to sound mean at all, but this was probably the weakest one I've ever had. The broth tasted cloudy, there were some odd floaty bits in it, and I did find a hair in mine, so I wasn't able to eat it. For my main meal, I ordered the filet and chicken hibachi/teriyaki combo. The vegetables and sauces were very good, but the chicken and steak were a little chewy, and the fried rice was slightly firm. Overall, the entrée had good flavors, but it was a mix of ups and downs. I still really appreciated the kindness and hospitality from the staff, and I do plan to go back and give them another try because the service was great and there were parts of the meal I did enjoy. Since it was Valentine's Day and we knew many restaurants would be packed, we decided to give it a try, thinking a place like this might not be too busy. We were so wrong. It was overcrowded. Apparently, they were also offering a Valentine's Day buffet and hosting karaoke night on top of that. Because it was so crowded, tables were even set up in areas where people would normally walk through. We definitely didn't want the buffet but one of the staff members gave us a menu and told us they were also serving from their regular menu. We still considered leaving since the only available seating was at two small tables in the aisle but since we were already there, we decided to stay. It was very loud so we couldn't really ask the staff about the dishes. Not knowing what to order, we went with the combo plates. I got the Pork Sisig combo, and my husband ordered the Beef Tapa combo. The food was good overall. The flavors reminded us of a mix of Japanese, Chinese and Korean cuisine which was interesting. My sisig was a bit too salty, though. The only thing we weren't big fans of was the veggie rolls. We're still curious to try some of their other dishes so we'll probably give it another shot.

Hanes Mill Rd, this gem is housed in the same spot where the Hwy 55 burger joint was (I sure miss them). Parking is shared with other area merchants, and since it's quite a distance from Walmart's entrance, finding a space is not a problem. The restaurant is well-lit, comfortable and clean. We were promptly greeted and shown to a table. The menu had a great selection of ramen, bento, and sushi. While I was leaning towards sushi, I opted for the chicken katsu bento. The food came out quickly and I was pleasantly surprised at the portion size. Definitely a good value in my opinion. The only disappointment was their take on fried rice, which seemed more like a dirty rice you would get at Popeye's. Honestly, I think white rice would have been a better pairing for this dish. Great service throughout our visit and we're keeping this one on the short list.

We were promptly greeted upon entering and shown to our table. The restaurant was about 75% full of other patrons and the dining room was clean and comfortable. Along with regular tables, there was limited seating at the sushi bar. As we began looking over the menu, our server made us aware of the lunch specials on the back page, which was greatly appreciated. I went with the Teriyaki Beef and my wife had the Hibachi Chicken. I chose the side salad with the house ginger dressing and my wife had the miso soup. Both of us went with white rice. Our sides came out pretty quick, and once we finished our sides, our entrees came out like clockwork. The Teriyaki Beef with accompanying vegetables tasted great, but I felt the portion size of both could have been larger. Still, it was a good value. Now, the portion size of the Hibachi Chicken with vegetables was much better, and it may be my choice next time. I want to mention that the sushi I saw being delivered to other tables looked pretty amazing, so the Hibachi Chicken may have to wait. Service was excellent throughout our visit. We decided to try it. I ordered Hibachi Chicken and Carolyn had Teriyaki Chicken. Both were served with fried rice, sweet carrots, and a mixture of squash, zucchini, onions, and broccoli. Portions were ample. The chicken (breast)was cooked perfectly. The flavor was a bit bland. Could have used a little salt, and more sauce. The rice had good flavor, but was a touch undercooked. We just prefer "sticky" rice. The carrots were soft and delicious. Just a little sweetness - just right. The mixed veggies were well cooked, a little al dente, but that's the way I like jt. Food was served on styrofoam plates, which is ok. Plastic forks, however, need to be larger and more sturdy. The place is new. Maybe the flavor will come in time.
