I was repeatedly lied to by a sales associate here. Not only did he not know what he was talking about, he also was blatantly speaking down to us!! First after we asked about whether there was a Hawaii discount (there isn't), he went on to claim there were NEVER sales at Chanel. This is completely untrue and I told him so. Then he claimed those sales were for shoes only, which I told him was also untrue as they include apparel. Trying to mansplain Chanel to me is frankly insane. We also asked about buying a specific purse, and without even checking the inventory he claimed they had none, as they sell out promptly. We mentioned Ala Moana had one days ago and he seemed surprised, and made no offer to help us check inventory there or order it from there. We later went to Ala Moana, and they had FOUR. When deciding on what island to experience I specifically picked Honolulu and the Waikiki area because I wanted to go to this Chanel store. I had heard through bloggers that you save a bit on tax when shopping here than Mainland USA. I've always heard they are rude. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton which is around the corner from Chanel. I could see the back of the store from my hotel balcony. We decided to go in the first day we arrived. I was very anxious and hoping they had the bag I wanted. Wife couldn't decide if she wanted another Chanel bag or another VCA jewelry. We decided to check out Chanel first and the sales here help us decide within the first minute. Ask if there was anything new and was told Chanel rarely makes anything new. Any new colors this year? No! So we ended up with a new VCA bracelet. The difference in service is night and day. My typical Chanel routine is a once over of the store, while telling my SA what I'm kind of looking for, if anything specific. Usually, I want to say that when I see something that catches my eye right away, or "wows" me, that's usually it. Done deal. With these prices, you either love it, or it's not worth buying, IMHO. Of course, John quickly informed me that there were no regular minis in store. It's a pretty large store, so you have to walk all the way down. Back there was where I saw more of the color schemes/styles I was looking for. Backpacks, and smaller bags resembling minis. And a very beautiful hand-crystalled evening beauty that I could not come to purchase... But I also left with something else beautiful in a dark slate color with brushed GHW. My son and I stopped in this Chanel location after happy hour nearby. Zero wait, we walked right in and were happily greeted the second we did so. I was looking for a specific patent belt bag. They didn't have it but service was super attentive, friendly and quick. Every question I had was answered immediately and I was presented with options within seconds at various counters. It didn't give off what I'd consider to be typical Chanel vibes, you can totally tell it's an island store and you very clearly are not in France. I didn't make a purchase as I wasn't blown away by their current options but it was certainly worth checking in on what they did have. I'm surprised by some of the poor reviews because had they had what I was looking for service and location are totally 5 star. I was soooo excited for my trip to Honolulu bc my wonderful SA (Ikuyo) found one of my dream bags for me! She was able to secure the bag for me in advance and we set up a time to meet to pick up the bag when I arrived to the island. She was so kind and informative. She packaged the bag so securely that I felt bad unboxing it! The packaging was actually even better than the packaging I received while I was in France! My experience in the store was honestly great. It was really quiet in the store which I appreciated (it's nice to have some space with covid and everything). Security had us wait outside for a few moments before entering, which I was used to because they also did this at the Ala Moana location while they were securing a personal SA. However, when I stepped inside, there was no personal SA. Most of them were standing along the wall either conversing with each other or on their phones. I walked around for a little bit before a man approached me and I told him I wanted to see their card holders. He brought out the tray and continued chatting with his coworker. I did find one I liked, but didn't bother pursuing it further since I did not want to purchase from this location (as hard as it is to come across inventory you're looking for). I had the most bizarre experience at this boutique. I was shopping for boots and asked the SA, Don Le, if he could bring out a pair in my size to try on. I usually wear a women's 8.5 and so I asked for the European equivalent size - either a 39.5 or 40. Don looked at me aghast and told me my feet were 'very big' and much larger than the standard customer that shops at this particular boutique and, as a result, they did not have the boots in my size. He told me to go back to the mainland where I might have better luck finding shoes in my size. WTF? First of all, since when is women's 8.5 an abnormally large shoe size? I didn't have a problem purchasing shoes in my size at any of the other luxury boutiques I visited on my trip... Most importantly, why would a SA ever think it's ok to comment on someone's body by telling them they have big feet? So rude! I came here on vacation and was looking for a pair of earrings. My prior experiences with other Chanels were not as delightful as the experience I had here with Eunice. She wad not very pushy at all and was very kind. She happily showed me everything I wanted to see without getting upset or annoyed that I didn't like everything. We decided to walk in to see what this store has compared to the stores in California with no intention to buy. It was late, and we were not exactly agreeable after a long day of tour. Nevertheless, Ray greeted us immediately without judgement and with a big smile. We briefly walked around the store twice, and Ray knew I had my eyes on the small boy chevron in ivory/white. Without asking him, Ray took out a navy blue just to show me how it looks on the inside. I tend to shy away from touching any of the Chanel purses (based on past experience at South Coast, where I was forced to wear a glove), but Ray was completely easy going about it. We had a brief discussion about size, colors and so forth, and ended the night letting him know that I would think about it. Unlike most, who would be disgruntled and annoyed by this point, Ray was completely understanding and pleasant. He wasn't pushy, whatsoever. Fast forward, we decided to go back. Since Ray was busy with a customer, another lady helped us figure out the color and size. She was so really accommodating and sweet. When we finally decided, she made sure that there was a new one in stock, and Ray made sure that I got a dust bag that went with it. Thank you Chanel for the amazing, speedy service. I popped into this store to bet my luck on finding a flat card holder (in the color and style) that I've been looking for for years. The store was fully stocked with SLGs and Spring collection bags. I went earlier in the day, so it was less crowded. I was assisted by John when I first walked in. John was patient and easy to work with. Finally got what I have been looking for. I later came back to purchase another SLG from the Spring collection as it's too cute to pass up. I truly believe it makes a huge difference in who you work with as I've had a lot of experiences with SAs who are less than helpful or patient in other boutiques. This location is Waikiki is just plain weird--I've perused this place a few times with my bf, and the SA's just weird me out. They just hang around like they have nothing better to do except chat amongst themselves, or look at their phones. And, on the rare occasions when they're tried "assisting," it was only for a short while before they just wandered off and assumed it wasn't worth their time. If you are interested in meeting a fun and fabulous Chanel Fashion Advisor, I would like to recommend my friend, Karen Choe, Senior Fashion Advisor at the Chanel Boutique in Waikiki. We met in 2000 at the Christian Dior Boutique at Ala Moana Center when I was hired as a Supervisor, and she was already a Sales Associate. We were not instant friends, but I was fortunate to develop a genuine friendship with her over my 6 1/2 years at Dior. Since then, we have both moved on; I am no longer in the luxury goods industry, and Karen has been at Chanel for almost 10 years. We recently reconnected this summer, and I am happy that she is still a BFF. Karen is trustworthy, honest, and hard working. She is very knowledgeable about luxury goods and has an amazing memory. She is bilingual in Korean and English, but does not allow the lack of fluency in other languages to be a barrier to her positive compulsion to help customers. When we worked together at Dior, we had diverse clientele, including locals; we didn't cater to only visitors. As a former Supervisor, I have witnessed Karen's ability and intuition to suggest the best for customers who she treats as newfound friends. Now, as a client, Karen respects my opinion, preference, and price range. I have been honest with her, and I don't feel pressured to spend beyond my price range. During a casual conversation, I mentioned a $525 card holder that I had viewed at the Chanel website and had been considering for a few months. Perhaps, a $525 card holder is insignificant to some and extravagant to others, but Karen's time and effort to help me with this purchase exceeded my expectations. I had intended to wait until I felt at ease to purchase the card holder in person, but when Karen noticed the stock level depleting throughout the nation, she contacted me to decide sooner than later. Since I am a very particular person who dislikes items on display, Karen facilitated a purchase from the Chanel Boutique at Palm Beach Gardens, FL. A link was emailed to me to complete the purchase in the privacy of my own home, and voilà, the card holder arrived in a few days via FedEx. The FedEx box was packed well, and I was extremely satisfied with the quality of the card holder in the Chanel box tied with a ribbon and white camellia flower. The overall shopping experience with Karen was great. I am very grateful to Karen for taking care of me.
