Soo.. the big day came and she stopped by the hospital twice; once to meet baby and again just to check on her. Baby girl had just a touch of jaundice so she thought it best to make an appointment for the next day to make sure it didn't get worse. It didn't. Anyhoo, we've had a few visits already and the wait is never too long after our scheduled appointment. She also very sweet and usually acknowledges any weird baby things that actually aren't weird before I even ask. Call backs are also fast for any of my concerned mama questions. I highly recommend :)

She takes the time to answer any questions, and truly cares that you feel comfortable. As a first time Mom I have lots of questions. She takes her time to examine my baby and she even helped me latch my baby to make sure she was breastfeeding ok. We are usually seen right away. Her exam rooms are on the smaller side. So I wouldn't bring any large strollers. The only thing is that you always have to pay for parking. They only validate for 30 minutes. The visit is always longer than that, by time you park and get upstairs and then downstairs. Also they only accept cash. I never have cash on me. The girl in the front said they can't give more than one validation sticker. I get my hair done in the same building and never have to pay for parking. That's my only complaint.

From day 1, she has been an excellent pediatrician - she is a genuinely kind and patient physician. We are first time parents so everything is new to us. At every visit, she takes the time to listen and answer each one of our questions and concerns while providing us with her expert knowledge, guidance and reassurance. She is very thorough with her examination and monitoring our child's growth and development. My wife and I like that she gives us a handout of the information that is reviewed at each well child check just in case we forget the helpful tips that she verbalizes (the handout is even specialized with our daughter's growth parameters!) After every visit, we feel well prepared for the subsequent months since Dr. Rasa provides spot-on anticipatory guidance in terms of what to expect with our daughter's speech and motor development, as well as sleep and eating advancements. Her staff is friendly and always on time. Because of a change in my wife's work schedule, we had to change one of our well child check appointment times and her staff was incredibly accommodating. Her office is well organized and has taken COVID precautions very seriously which has been very reassuring to us as newborn parents. We like the convenient location of her office. The parking can be a little tricky at times (but we quickly learned there's a whole row of parking in the back that is easier to get in and out... and also the parking is free which is nice).

And I can say this because I used to send my kids to a different pediatrician who's practice lacked in many areas. Clean, welcoming office. Even parking isn't bad since cars are constantly coming and going. Thank you Dr. Rasa for providing excellent care so I no longer need to stress regarding the care my kiddos receive!

I cannot say enough good things about our experience with Dr. Loui and her team! Most important…read morenote: we're not even Dr. Loui's regular patients! We go to Dr. Lori Yamanaka but found out she's on vacation and Dr. Loui is covering for her. First of all, I'm loving this MyChart messaging feature (which may, or may not, have been implemented without covid). I wrote to Dr. Lori about my kid's swimmer's ear problem on Thursday morning, was informed by phone later that morning about her vacation, and Dr. Loui or Dr. Joy is covering for her. I had no preference (altho tbh I can't remember if she offered haha) and fortunately for us Dr Loui is awesome!! We communicated with Dr. Loui via MyChart the entire time. Super convenient, highly recommend using it instead of calling! Anyway I told Dr. Loui the kid is going off island for a week and she very graciously offered to see us the next day! Her office is super cute! I love love love the decor! They totally put in so much effort to lessen the "doctor's office" vibes. I think they might have been going for chic beach-themed nursery look, complete with sea stars, sea shells, and mermaids! Everyone was super kind, patient, and friendly! Everyone! Jenny took the kid's vitals and took notes. Then Dr. Loui came in and introduced herself, but her demeanor is so open and approachable, I felt like she's been taking care of us for ages! We talked about sports and her kids' experience with sports and school. After examination of both ears, I was expecting her to prescribe medication, give us instructions, and we'd be on our way. BUT NO! Another nurse/assistant (I didn't get her name) took him for a hearing test since we reported some difficulty hearing. Then, she returned to clean the kid's ears with a water drill thing! She's super gentle and very sweet and helped degunk the compacted wax in his right ear (which isn't the problematic one). The left ear was a no go though, coz it was too sore. Throughout the process she was very kind to him, never once making him uncomfortable or pressuring him. Then Dr. Loui came back to wrap up the consultation and prescription/instructions. The whole appointment was at least an hour long but I didn't feel like they were rushing to get us out of the clinic. Side note: I'm pretty sure that years ago, Dr. Loui was one of the pediatricians that my ob-gyn referred us to. I'm not certain now why we ended up not picking her, maybe I was hormonal and irritable and didn't like waiting in the waiting room! Plus maybe back then her office wasn't as nice as it is haha I can't remember! But I'm very happy knowing that my doctor referred us to two very kind, compassionate, friendly, and awesome pediatricians!! For new moms-to-be looking up Yelp, don't hesitate! Dr. Loui is awesome and well worth the wait!! Also, I don't think it's fair to give her one star for not accepting new patients who aren't new mothers. Doctors deserve to establish boundaries for their own and their staff's mental health, and also for their current patients'! No sense having many patients if they can't make an appointment coz she's always fully booked, does it?? #32/2021

They said they're currently accepting new patients, but case by case and the doctor picks. All they asked was "is your daughter healthy?" The person on the phone had an attitude from the beginning to the end of the call where I left my information and asked when I would hear back. Unfortunately since then my daughter has broken out in hives so I called them again. When I gave my info again they then said "oh yeah that request has been denied." It was disappointing to have bad customer service from the beginning and to wait and have to follow up with them. A courtesy heads up that they wouldn't have been accepting us would've been greatly appreciated.

However, now, you can't call the office during business hours and get a human at all. Scheduling an appointment is jumping through hoops and is difficult. I've gotten formal documents with wrong dates and spelling of names. The most damming is the huge disconnect and lack of communication, this is a doctors office (with educated individuals) and should be painlessly easy. I brought up the issues that I had with Teruya, I was brushed off and given excuses for their mishaps. Recently, I contacted their office the way they request and prefer, via my chart, and requested an appointment. It took me 2 days and multiple correspondences (email and phone) to schedule a simple appointment because I wasn't available for the first appointment offered... Normally, you just move on to the next available appointment right??? NOPE. With good reason to be frustrated that making a simple appointment required so much effort, and took days, I was told they would have to call me back when I couldn't make the only appointment they offered. I said, "It really shouldn't be this hard just to make an appointment," the guy actually laughed. I'm not so sure what's funny about taking close to 3 days to just make an appointment but apparently it's funny. Wonderful professionalism right there. This is where shit gets interesting and disappointing all in one. At that appointment I was told by the doctor.... "I don't think I can give you the level of care you want... things won't be changing..." with that said, I'm sad to say, but over the last 6 months her office has proven that she is completely and undoubtedly right. I expect accurate documentation, doctors and their staff are responsible for peoples well being and lives. (One transposed number could mean life or death depending circumstances). I want painless scheduling, if I can't make it to the first, go to the next available day, it really is that easy. I expect effective communication, again... you're a doctors office, the doctor and staff should be held to a higher standard and effective communication is basic. (That's a whole other story involving blood in my sons stool). My ONLY reason for even writing this is because at the appointment where I was told that she couldn't provide me with the level of care I wanted, was also the same appointment where I was told that there was absolutely nothing she could do for my daughters cough that she had for 3 plus months. NOTHING. (At this point she had been coughing so bad that she was gagging, and couldn't even sleep.) After finding a new pediatrician I now think the sole purpose of that visit was to tell me to find new care. Which of course I did and had already been contemplating doing so... Gratefully, I now have an inhaler for my daughter and a week later her cough has drastically gotten better. You can draw your own conclusion but mama told me to get a second opinion because it seemed like I pissed her off and here I am. New doctor, new inhaler and a drastically better cough. You are only as good as your worst employee.

His office location is great as it's next to whole foods and long stores and kahala mall! So if I need to run a few errands after my daughter's check up the convenience is there. Dr. Buehler is very friendly and genuine. He even gives you his pager in case you have an emergency which he's fairly quick to return your call. There came a point when I didn't have insurance and he was nice to offer a discount for my daughter's visit. That shows that he's in his profession for the kids! I liked him so much that I even referred my friend who just moved on island. Even though they told her she couldn't get an appointment for 2 months, Dr Buehler told me to tell her to ask for him directly, which he then fit her in right away as her son needed to get his vaccinations!

I took my 4 children to Dr. Daniel Buehler for almost 2 years, and I would not recommend him to…read moreanyone. 1. He was dismissive of legitimate concerns I had regarding my children 2. Did not even tell me when my daughter's blood pressure was dangerously low (I found out when I got the medical records) 3. Wrote INCORRECT statements and false quotes in my children's medical charts about concerns I had. For example, when I told him I thought my 5 year old had asthma he documented in the chart that I was sure he had asthma because I have it, and then proceeded to leave out my son's 3 ER visits for breathing trouble. He had multiple, documented ER visits where he received steroids and nebulizer treatments because HE COULD NOT BREATHE! At the ER they didn't send him home because I was "making it up", they quickly gave him breathing treatments because he NEEDED them. My mother, who has done family practice for nearly 20 years had seen and heard my son wheezing on many occasions. I told Dr. Buehler all of this and he left all this information out of the chart and instead falsely quoted me and made it sound as if I was trying to intentionally mislead him. To what end? Why would I make this up? He then refused to give him a prescription for an emergency inhaler at school because he said "school nurses don't know how to use them". This man treated me (and apparently nurses as well) like we know nothing. That was our last appointment with him. Mothers are the best advocate for their children's health, trust me, go to a doctor who cares about your child as much as you do. Whether a mother has a PhD or not if they tell a doctor their child is having trouble breathing as has been to the ER three times for this reason they should take that concern seriously. Even if he hadn't been to the ER it should have been taken seriously and he should have followed up. He did neither of those things. After we moved off island it took me over a year to get the medical records from his office, they wanted quite a bit of money per page and I had 4 children's well checks and sick visits over nearly 2 years (it would have cost nearly $200 to get the records from him and he would not email them). After a year of asking a kind receptionist finally agreed to put the records on a disc for me to have. When I read them I was very upset by what he had documented in the chart about the false information regarding "my concerns" and while I left every appointment with him feeling like all my concerns were dismissed, I could clearly read in the chart that not only did he dismiss my concerns, and my children's written records but he didn't take my children's health seriously at all.
