I cannot say enough good things about our experience with Dr. Loui and her team! Most important note: we're not even Dr. Loui's regular patients! We go to Dr. Lori Yamanaka but found out she's on vacation and Dr. Loui is covering for her. First of all, I'm loving this MyChart messaging feature (which may, or may not, have been implemented without covid). I wrote to Dr. Lori about my kid's swimmer's ear problem on Thursday morning, was informed by phone later that morning about her vacation, and Dr. Loui or Dr. Joy is covering for her. I had no preference (altho tbh I can't remember if she offered haha) and fortunately for us Dr Loui is awesome!! We communicated with Dr. Loui via MyChart the entire time. Super convenient, highly recommend using it instead of calling! Anyway I told Dr. Loui the kid is going off island for a week and she very graciously offered to see us the next day! Her office is super cute! I love love love the decor! They totally put in so much effort to lessen the "doctor's office" vibes. I think they might have been going for chic beach-themed nursery look, complete with sea stars, sea shells, and mermaids! Everyone was super kind, patient, and friendly! Everyone! Jenny took the kid's vitals and took notes. Then Dr. Loui came in and introduced herself, but her demeanor is so open and approachable, I felt like she's been taking care of us for ages! We talked about sports and her kids' experience with sports and school. After examination of both ears, I was expecting her to prescribe medication, give us instructions, and we'd be on our way. BUT NO! Another nurse/assistant (I didn't get her name) took him for a hearing test since we reported some difficulty hearing. Then, she returned to clean the kid's ears with a water drill thing! She's super gentle and very sweet and helped degunk the compacted wax in his right ear (which isn't the problematic one). The left ear was a no go though, coz it was too sore. Throughout the process she was very kind to him, never once making him uncomfortable or pressuring him. Then Dr. Loui came back to wrap up the consultation and prescription/instructions. The whole appointment was at least an hour long but I didn't feel like they were rushing to get us out of the clinic. Side note: I'm pretty sure that years ago, Dr. Loui was one of the pediatricians that my ob-gyn referred us to. I'm not certain now why we ended up not picking her, maybe I was hormonal and irritable and didn't like waiting in the waiting room! Plus maybe back then her office wasn't as nice as it is haha I can't remember! But I'm very happy knowing that my doctor referred us to two very kind, compassionate, friendly, and awesome pediatricians!! For new moms-to-be looking up Yelp, don't hesitate! Dr. Loui is awesome and well worth the wait!! Also, I don't think it's fair to give her one star for not accepting new patients who aren't new mothers. Doctors deserve to establish boundaries for their own and their staff's mental health, and also for their current patients'! No sense having many patients if they can't make an appointment coz she's always fully booked, does it?? #32/2021 read more

Called their office over a week ago to see if they'd accept my daughter as a new patient since we recently moved home from Vegas. They said they're currently accepting new patients, but case by case and the doctor picks. All they asked was "is your daughter healthy?" The person on the phone had an attitude from the beginning to the end of the call where I left my information and asked when I would hear back. Unfortunately since then my daughter has broken out in hives so I called them again. When I gave my info again they then said "oh yeah that request has been denied." It was disappointing to have bad customer service from the beginning and to wait and have to follow up with them. A courtesy heads up that they wouldn't have been accepting us would've been greatly appreciated. read more

Dr Loui has been great with our little one since day 1. She even took the time to visit us in the hospital despite it was July 4th. As a first-time parents, we had alot of questions, and I'm pretty sure some of them were dumb, but she was patient and took the time to explain to us. She also made my wife really comfortable as Dr Loui also answered alot of the non-baby related questions. Her staffs were all nice and patient with our little one as she gets fussy during the examination. We would definitely recommend Dr Loui to anyone that's looking for a pediatrician. read more

I love Dr. Loui and her staff (especially aunty Jeni!). Dr. Loui has been our family pediatrician for almost a decade. I love her, but more importantly... my kiddos love her. She is kind and patient and takes time to explain and answer all questions we have (which were a LOT of questions as new parents years ago). Dr. Loui also has three little ones of her own, so she understands how impatient kids can be, and tries to keep them entertained and engaged in the appointment as well. You may have to wait, but that's only because she provides quality time and focuses on each patient at the time of their appointment - **plus - we have to walk from the new parking structure and wait for the sloooooow elevator in the physician's office building - so not all the time was waiting in her office. We don't mind - and I could not ask for a better pediatrician for my two kiddos. read more

We have had Dr. Loui as our family pediatrician since 2004 and we have loved her ever since. Patient. Helpful. Knowledgeable. And most importantly, she makes our kids feel comfortable when they come in to see her. Her staff is GREAT!!! Always patient with the little ones when they aren't feeling well. They follow up with you regarding test results and other items. Our first born has been seen till she's 18. My second child is asking if we can go and see Dr. Loui. Even when she isn't sick!!! She love her!! How many kids do you hear saying that??!! And our youngest, is still getting to know her, but already has a big smile for her when he sees her! We live out on the west side now, and we STILL drive into town to take our children to see her when needed. I don't plan on changing doctors at anytime. Thanks Dr. Loui! read more

Found her on Yelp. After reading reviews, calling, and interviewing with other pediatricians, we decided on Dr. Loui for our new baby boy. Pros: -Convenience. She is located at Kapiolani Medical Center. In the event that you have to have tests, imaging, or see other specialists, it is all conveniently located in one building. -Very thorough. During our interview, (while my son was still in the womb) she took lots of notes. She also provides helpful handouts at each visit that thoroughly explain what to expect at baby's current age. It answered all the questions we had before they even came up. This matches my personality. -She is available through several modes of communication including email. It helps to be able to email her pictures. She responds within the same day. -Based on my understanding, this office does not take patients whose parents are anti-vax. It is reassuring to take my child to an office where other children who can be vaccinated are vaccinated. If you have concerns about vaccines, she will not chastise you. Very patient and understanding. -Personality. She is a mother and can relate to you on a personal, sometimes comedic level. She also has had huskies. This isn't why I chose her, but I'll admit it made the decision a lot easier. -She is soft spoken and her office is surprisingly quiet. Baby seems very at ease with her and her staff. - If that's not enough reasons to choose Dr. Loui, she also shares an office with the island's favorite lactation specialist, Dr. Lisa Kahikina (Mahinaona Breastfeeding Center). read more

If I could rate more than 5 stars I would because Dr. Loui definitely deserves it. I saw her for a little over a decade and was so fortunate and grateful that I had opportunity to be her patient. Dr. Loui is kind, patient, engaging, and thorough in all that she does. She goes above and beyond, whether that is answering calls in the middle of the night, taking appointments last minute, or visiting you in the hospital just to make sure everything is okay. She makes everyone feel comfortable, safe, and understood. As if that isn't enough, her staff is amazing. Jeni, Robin, and her other M.A's are well trained, personable, and just as helpful as Dr. Loui. read more

I called to see if she is accepting new patients. Was told no...She was only accepting new mother's to be. This is very disappointing. We just moved back from the mainland and we're looking for a pediatrician for my 22 month old daughter. She was recommended. The person answering the phone couldn't even give a referral. We found Dr. Loui through the husband's cousin (his kids see Dr. Loui as well). If baby is sick, we call in the a.m. and appointments are usually set the same a.m. Waits are minimal (the longest we had to wait was about 20 b/c they were busy that day). Other than that, our waits have been between none to 10 minutes. Staff knows us and need not tell them who we are when walking in. Dr. explains things thoroughly and gives handouts at wellness checks (along with child's current stats). Dr. also has young children so she knows/understands what we're going through! read more

This review is way overdue. We've had Dr. Loui since our twin daughters were born almost 7 years ago, and my son 5 years ago. She came very highly recommended, and she also has her office in Kapiolani Hospital, which we preferred. Our twins were several weeks premature (one of them was in NICU for extended period of time) so we definitely needed someone who is experienced, sharp, goes above and beyond and makes both the children and us adults comfortable. From a parents' standpoint, she has met and at times exceeded our expectations. If there was a heart murmur, she would have us go to a cardiologist just to make sure there to determine whether there was anything serious. She was able to diagnose early that one of my kids needed glasses (lazy eye). I don't like to go into so much detail, but wanted to point out examples where I felt very fortunate to have Dr. Loui. In addition, their office is very organized with appointments and insurance. For school, they are quick to fax over the health paperwork. Glad to have Dr. Loui and her staff from when our kids were born. read more

Dr. Loui and her entire staff ROCK! She's the all-around pediatrician - patient, knowledgable, easy going and extremely capable in her profession. She's absolutley wonderful! My family and I couldn't recommend her enough. Since 5 stars was the highest rating, that's what I had to settle for, but in my opinion, she deserves about a million of them! read more
