It was an overcast, off-season Imperial Beach afternoon when we walked into Champion Field for an impromptu lunch with our restless 3 year old. Just beyond the entrance was a shelf full of toys, games and coloring books. We grabbed a mini basketball game and sat ourselves on the patio. Our servers were very friendly, and they promptly checked i with us to accommodate our visit. Today we enjoy some deep fried pickles, the Champion Burger, the Firepit Burger, and some chicken nuggets for the little one. Showed up to the soft opening night! Excellent service, they are very eager to please and everyone is very excited for the menu. They don't have salads and pizzas yet but that's totally fine as I realize they are still opening. I really like the menu and the prices. A very welcomed addition to IB. In Inside is really nicely done Ava very good location. Lots of parking which is nice! Smokey wagu Burger was fabulous and very well cooked, the flavor is delicious. The fries have good seasoning on them and are piping hot. I loved the Poke Nachos the order is massive and filled with wonton chips. The friend raviolis are totally delicious. My boyfriend and I came here for the first time since the restaurant changed from coronado brewery to now champion field. It was quiet and empty at 3:20pm, for us that was a win since we like less people. They had $5 on tap beers which was awesome. We ordered their chicken tenders and side of fries. Both of those were really yummy. Their champion sauce was tasty as well. The owner was there working and she was very kind & helpful. For those not local, parking is limited. You'll have to find street parking. In this visit we tried the party melt, kids nuggets, and kids sliders. The sliders were good and freshly made. Although the bun was also good it was a bit big for the burger patty. A slice of pickle would be nice to have also. The nuggets were lightly battered and meaty. Now the patty melt could use a little work. Overall, it was completely dry, minus the 1000 island dressing. The meat was definitely overcooked, and I think it would be much better with American cheese versus the Swiss, which hardly melts. French fries, unfortunately were not fresh. They were warm as if they were put up under a light but not freshly made which was disappointing. All of the staff was friendly and attentive. The music/TVs were up pretty loud. Will definitely give it another try for other menu items. read more

This place is great! We came for the cold beer and ended up trying the Champion Burger, it's wagyu beef and absolutely amazing. The happy hours prices are pretty stellar as well. Definitely worth checking out. read more

First off, the location is absolutely beautiful! Came to soft opening and enjoyed a delicious Southwest Cobb salad and spicy Tequila Lime wings which were better than I expected! The pricing is very great for portion size. the The Cobb salad hit the spot on this warm sunny day in SD. The service was excellent; my server was Tatiana and she was delightful, had a great smile and was so friendly. I left with a happy and full tummy. Great location! As far as ambiance, the staff make that happen. Friendly and efficient. Other than that, just a bunch of flat screens, and the music was a bit loud. Fair choice of brand name brews, but I'm spoiled with several other places in IB sporting a wider variety, including craft IPA's, that give me regular discounts during off-days. I had one of their overpriced $16 hamburgers with bacon. Ehhh. It was OK, nothing more. I make a better burger at home, using the same Costco burger, and I can barely cook. If you come just for the beer and sports, consider yourself a winner. As with a lot of joints that that try to be a sports bar with food and grog, pricing will haunt any sit-down place for the near future due not so much to the establishment, but more to inflation and the hefty restaurant worker hourly wages. I had a 1-time 20% off coupon. Even so, the hamburger (comes with fries), 1 pint ($7.75) after I factor in a (20%) tip, it was $25+. Without the coupon, it would be nearer $30, for a burger and a beer. Old retired guys want discounts, or rock-bottom prices, which might be bygone. But that's what I search out, and with due diligence, I find 'em. read more

Went there last night, Service was good! Just one guy working there later in the evening but was still on top of everything. Got our order wrong with the wings but they're a new place so that's forgivable and also didn't charge us for it. But I am 99.99% sure the burger patty was a frozen Costco burger patty which is unforgivable at 16$ for a burger and fries. Also fairly small amount of fries. Pretty disappointing tap menu too, especially in San Diego where getting fresh local beers is so easy, just a bunch of generic stuff on tap. Very hard to justify 30$ for a Costco frozen patty with a measly amount of toppings and a beer. May try again once they have it figured out a bit more in a month or two just for the benefit of the doubt but pretty rough first encounter with so many other hard hitters with way better food and tap options in IB. Edit: just double checked the other reviews and not sure if they just ran out of their regular patties last night but we absolutely did not get the same quality burger as other people have posted. going to have to come back and give them the benefit of the doubt read more

Came in after work just to check out the new place in town but ended falling in love with this place. Had a pepperoni flat bread and my friend had a wholy smoked burger. We dint think it would be enough so we add the champion nachos all I can say is wow.Flat bread was enough for me and my friend to share the flatbread was crispy and the cheese had a nice crust to it. The burger was amazing had great flavor and cooked perfectly. The one item that stood out the most where those amazing nachos every chip had cheese and it was delicious you could taste the freshness of the pico the chicken was juicy not dry what's so ever.Your kitchen staff is doing amazing job kudos to them and to the chef all I can say is amazing food and flavors.This will definitely be are new after work spot read more

I've come to IB for years. Lived here for 3. This place occupies the old Coronado Brewing Company location on Seacoast across from the pier. I came in for game 3 of the world series with the Dodgers/Yankees. The place wasn't full despite 15 fifty inch TVs with the game on. My server was a guy named Fish who was welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu. I debated. Settled on chicken wings. He directed me to their grilled version which was excellent. I thought of ordering more and was considering the Patty Melt. He warned me to wait and see how much food to expect with the wings. He was right. 12 gems. They hit the mark and were absolutely filling without feeling like junk food. I wish they made it more clear who they are. They're not Coronado Brewing. They served quality food in a great and clean environment. I only had the wings but if this is how they do business, come on down. read more

Great new place in Imperial Beach. Tried the Caprese Wagyu burger was great. Maybe needed little more pesto and balsamic but was still great. You also need to try the spicy lime wings. They are definitely a come back and order again. Great staff. read more

Stopped in while exploring the neighborhood. Great new spot in town. The beer selection is robust with variety. We had Firepit Burger, fried pickles, ahi Poke Bowl, and chicken tenders. Went in Sunday evening to try it out for the first time. Was told to sit wherever we wanted and chose a table on the patio. We were one of two tables out there. Waited for 15 minutes before going up to the bar to order drinks and an appetizer. Bartender said she would be out to take our entree order in a few minutes. We never saw her, another waitress dropped off our appetizer after another 15 minutes or so. Only gave us 1 plate for 2 people and ran off before we could even ask about ordering entrees. She never came back for an order or to check in so after the appetizer we decided to get entrees somewhere else. Had to search the waitress down for a box and the bill, she was on her phone standing by the bar. The appetizer was good and the menu looked fine but unfortunately the service ruined it for us. Maybe we will give it another try once they've been here longer but for now there are plenty of other choices with equitable food and drinks that we know provide great service. read more
