It was mid afternoon in a Wednesday so we were seated right away and parking was not a problem in their lot. We ordered the Carne Asada Fries and the Artichoke Dip and both were delicious and perfect for sharing. My husband enjoyed the Hazy Weekend IPA and the Mermaid's Red, and he really liked both beers. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, making it a great place to take a break while exploring the island. Parking was challenging, but we were seated quickly and the food didn't take long. Not too many food items to choose from, I ended up getting the California pizza and an order of tater tots. It was kind of busy and the server seemed to want us in and out. The pizza was good, it had avocados on it which is different. It was $25 for 8 slices and $6 for a side of tater tots. Went to Coronado Brewing after a somewhat disappointing visit to the beach (the water was contaminated with sewage from Tijuana and the water was brown). Said we were a party of 8 and they were able to seat us within 10 minutes which was awesome. Big beer selection, and would recommend the Nado which is my favorite. Light and refreshing. Wife ordered the carne asada fries and she is PICKY when it comes to this SD staple and she was a fan. Also ordered some spinach artichoke dip which the table devoured. When it came to lunch I ordered a burger and notified them of my dairy allergy which they were so good about by informing me that the bun had butter so they made it lettuce wrapped. I asked for the meat to be well done and didn't receive any flak from anyone which I truly appreciate because when you order meat well done you get A LOT of judgement/side eye. This was my first time dining at Coronado Brewing and besides having a blast with my buddies, my son and nephew joined us for blessed quality family time. My buddies are into breweries and drinking flights of the breweries' craft beer, so I know why my best friend of more than 5 decades chose this restaurant. I enjoyed my first time here because of the yummy food, having an excuse to visit Coronado, and our young Asian waitress Drea provided friendly and outstanding customer service. Coronado Brewing is located in beautiful, coastal Coronado, CA. It can be found on the far north end of Orange Avenue. The easiest way to get there would be to take the Coronado Bay Bridge or you can drive the Silver Strand. The restaurant is a short walk from Nicky Rottens, several steps from Saiko Sushi, it's just down from Coronado Hardware and Fire Station Venue, it's across from the Coronado Southern Baptist Church, and it's directly across from a market. Parking could be challenging because it's street parking, but Coronado is a safe neighborhood, so a short walk shouldn't be a problem. It's a popular eatery, which means you might have to wait to be seated. As you enter Coronado Brewing, you'll see how spacious it is with booth seating, bartop seating, and tabletop seating. There are framed pics of florals, booths decorated with coastal fauna, decorative lighting, ceiling fans, and a brick fire pit. I didn't think there were enough televisions to cheer on our Padres. The nachos borrachos were satisfying with its carnitas pulled pork over fresh tortilla chips, finger licking delish with its jalapeño beer-cheese, and just a tasty starter. The meat lover's pizza had a good amount of protein, but I thought the crust could have been more firm. I already came here twice. First time, I got the fish and chips. Second time, I had their pub burger. The fish was just okay. It was dry and not fresh and tastes like something they probably get from their distributor. The fries had a seasoning mix I liked, but the texture was mediocre. On the other hand, I thought the burger was really good, so that's what I should've ordered the first time instead of listening to their 20% off recommendation. The bun was thick and hearty, with a very slightly crisp to it. The meat had great flavor, and the veggies were nice as well. Overall, somewhat better than the burger I had at Nicky Rottens. The vibes here were also better, and this is taking into account that I tend to like quiet places. Nicky Rottens is clearly losing business to this joint, so I should prefer the ambience there. But in addition to simply being quieter, something about the open seating and lighting makes it feel disconcerting rather than relaxing. Although parking looks deceivingly challenging - they have a lot in the back which is a huge plus in Coronado! Coronado Brewing is a great spot to stop and grab a drink and a snack with friends. The pretzel was pretty good and the mustard definitely tasted like it was made in house. The beer selection is vast with cider options in addition to your typical IPAs and lagers you get at most breweries. That alone is understandable on a busy night, but what wasn't okay was watching several groups who arrived after us get seated first while we were still waiting.
