It's been a few years since I've been here but we needed to grab food quickly before a meeting nearby. I've been going to Erik's for years. Food is absolutely great. However, recently they've been majorly letting me down when it comes to the salads. Just today I ordered a house salad, made a bunch of modifications removing most toppings as I ONLY wanted romaine lettuce, cucumbers, and the protein. I got what I believe is just spring mix and salmon. There was maybe like 4 pieces of romaine in there. Not sure if they just don't offer romaine but this is happened twice now. We were down in Otay for an interview to renew a sentri pass. Flew through the interview, so decided to find someplace to have lunch before heading to the hotel. My wife and I got a bottled beer and a cheeseburger and fries with no added salt.. The counter person said they don't add salt to any of their dishes, so it was great. Mediterranean food consists of Jasmine rice, Greek mint yougurt dressing. They use regular rice and sour cream as their Mint dressing. There was nice instrumental background music, not too loud, so you can actually have a conversation with your friends. They specialize in Greek food such as gyros, pitas, Greek salads. I had a Greek salad and added some grilled chicken. It was very delicious, served with some hot pita bread. When we arrived they were quite busy so we found the table outside in the shade. When the crowd thinned out inside we moved inside. They are located with in a shopping center right near the Otay border crossing. The restaurant is owner operated. The staff is quite friendly. They serve salad and hummus or send kind of dip with each platter. They also serve pita bread which seems like freshly made. I must have been here atleast 10 times and the food is consistently good. I am taking a star off for the slow service. This place gets busy during lunch which leads to a very long wait to get your food.
