7/22/19 update: I had my two rental properties get a check up from champion today. The appointment was at 8:00 AM, and they were there at 8:00 AM. This used to shock me, but not anymore, because 4 out of 4 times, they've been exactly on time. I had the pleasure of meeting Cameron and Dawn today. Both were very professional and didn't try to upsell me on anything. Dawn was very personable and professional, which is hard to find that combination in businesses these days. Cameron is an impressive young man who was professional as well. He was training Dawn, so, I didn't have as much interaction with him. But the interaction I had was great. What I like about this company is they'll text you when they're showing up with a picture of the poison who is coming out. That's a great safety feature. I'm happy to do business with them, and I look forward to doing business again with them in the future. You guys are awesome!!!!! read more

Despite the fact that I believe myself to be intelligent, I am a sixty-eight-year-old single woman that was taken advantage of by Champion Comfort Experts. My July water bill spiked so I knew there was a leak somewhere. After checking all the indoor probable culprits and finding no issue, I discovered the ground out front very wet at the water shut off valve. When I called Champion I even said that I suspected I needed a new shut off valve. The Champion technicians came to the same conclusion and with my approval, they proceeded to install a new turn off valve. Once that was completed they told me that there was still a leak of unknown origin. After conferring phone calls and further digging in my front yard they determined that the leak must be under the slab of my house and that the likely resolve would include tearing up concrete of my front patio and likely flooring and walls within my home. When they left that day I had no water, an open mess in my front yard, and absolutely no solution from Champion, PLUS they wouldn't leave without $1197.33 payment for the new valve. The next day I wrangled a technician from another company to take a look. What I'm about to tell you is so sophomoric, it's hard not to laugh at the stupidity. Instead of removing the faulty value or installing the new around the faulty valve, abandoning it completely, the Champion Techs installed the new valve directly onto the old leaking one. So every time they tried to turn on the water it continued to leak. Adding insult to injury, thus far I have not been refunded my $1197.33. Despite receiving an email stating I would receive a full refund, I never have, not one cent, and they have blocked my phone number from calling their business. We bought a gas furnace and had it installed a two months ago. Still not working. Champion didn't follow though and it has been hours of missed work on the phone with them getting the run-around or waiting for technicians, inspectors, gas company. Just found out today they installed it wrong, they just dropped it in the basement with the wrong hookup. read more

Champion destroyed my home and I now need to seek legal counsel. On 11/22, I had a small leak near the washing machine tap. Called Champion to help and they sent Chase over. Despite turning off the water, Chase cut the line and water sprayed everywhere in the laundry room and into the wall. Chase capped it, the water eventually stopped and he completed the repair. Chase has me run the washing machine and he left. After 10 minutes, water started flooding my laundry room, kitchen and into my main bedroom. Chase comes back, runs around the house trying to figure out what happened, tears down insulation in the crawl space and then realizes he forgot to attach a hose to a drain pipe in my laundry room which caused water to flood everywhere. Chase tells me his manager will call me on Monday and leaves. After leaving to get dinner and coming back, I notice brown stains on the ceiling in my basement and my hot water was no longer working. I looked at the hot water tank and there was water everywhere at the base. Dishwasher also no longer working. We use the dishwasher everyday and it worked the night before the incident. Chris Thompson, the manager from Champion, does not call on Monday. I have to call three times before getting a hold of him. He gives me a promise that he will make everything right. He schedules someone to replace my hot water heater the next day and sends a company they work with called RestroPros to my home to asses the damage and make a plan for mitigation. Tuesday, my hot water tank is replaced by Jacob who walks around the home and reviews the damage. He assures me that Champion will take care of everything. Chris comes to my home when Jacob is done, shakes my hand and again reassures me that he will make everything right. RestroPros comes on Friday, takes pictures of the damage and take measurements. Tim from RestroPros tells me how they are going to have to remove drywall, paint my ceilings, replace flooring, cabinets, etc. He confirms that Champion would be billed for it and they've never had an issue having Champion approve this kind of work to be done as a result of something they caused. Tim sets up fans and dehumidifiers around the areas with high moisture. The dehumidifier in the laundry room emits an odor that makes my wife and I nauseous so we ask that it be removed. I put my own dehumidifier in there but it is not nearly as effective. Champion eventually removes the dishwasher and when they take out the old one, Jacob sees the water damage behind the dishwasher, says the drywall would need to be replaced and I have him again confirm that Champion would take care of it. RestroPros comes back to remove the fans and dehumidifier. They review the damage and once again reiterate that Champion would pay to fix everything. Tim comes back the day after the equipment was removed to finalize his report. Tim notes that the moisture in basement ceiling below the dishwasher is still at 97%. High moisture levels found in floors and walls upstairs as well. Champion eventually installs a new dishwasher. I talked to the installer (Haiden) about what happened and the installer again reaffirms that Champion will take care of all of it. RestroPros sends the mitigation report to Champion but no one proactively reached out to me to tell me what would happen next. I eventually talked to Josh, a manager at RestroPros, who tells me Chris is talking to the Champion leadership team about my situation and believes I would get the answers I was looking for the next day. Three days later and I finally talk to Chris about what is going on. Chris tells me his team has gone above and beyond and says that none of this was their fault and that they replaced my appliances as a courtesy and claims not to take fault for those issues. He tells me my dishwasher hasn't worked in months (so now he's calling me a liar), they aren't going to pay to have the water damage to walls, floors or ceiling repaired properly and that they will end communication with me. He said if I don't like it, we can take it up in court. After being called a liar by someone representing a company that damaged my home, I used the F word which I guess was a bridge too far for the company who caused thousands of dollars of damage in my home so he hung up on me. I've never been more offended in my life and can't believe I now have to hire a lawyer because Champion, despite swearing many times to fix everything, is now refusing to repair the damage they caused. At no point did they ever explain to me that they were only paying for a dehumidifier in the laundry room. Quite the contrary as multiple Champion employees told me how drywall would have to be replaced throughout my home (not just the laundry room) as a result of this incident and they all said Champion would of course pay for it. It is insane that they would replace appliances without accepting fault or accountability for the water damage caused by the appliances they replaced. read more

I bought the subscription service this company offers to have them come out twice a year and service/change the filters on my mini-splits. About every other visit, something magically "breaks" on one or more of my units and it costs me hundreds (last time thousands) of dollars to fix. And just today, they visited and it happened AGAIN! we have used Champions services for 10 years and were very pleased ith them until recently. They called and kept pressuring me to try their electrical services, even though I told them I didn't need them. Finally, I reluctantly agreed. The young man came out spent about 15 mintues inspecting mu electric panel and informed me that I needed to replace the entire panel immediately foe a rediculously high cost. When told him I would be getting a second opinion, he gave me a bussiness card of a "friend" who could do it cheaper. Champion kept sending me texts, trying to get me to schedule the work. I got a second opinion from another company who said my electric panel is in good shape and doesn't need anything done to it. When I called Champion to complain, they said they would have someone call to discuss it with me, but no one ever did. read more

When calling to set up an appointment we asked what the charges would cover. After being placed on hold they came back and told us that the charges would cover the service on our generator. When the tech showed up he told us that this was an additional charge. We called the office back and they placed us on a longer hold and then came back to tell us that it wasn't covered. They gave us a $50 credit because clearly after listening to the call from the first time they knew we were told it was covered but would not honor our original quote. This is a clear bait and switch situation that is preying on families that rely on generators since the storm due to intermittent power disruptions. We would not use this company again nor would we recommend them to anyone else in the WNC area. I was a monthly paying MVP member but just cancelled it. I originally had an appointment with them the end of September for my yearly HVAC maintenance; unfortunately it was cancelled due to the recent hurricane .. completely understandable. I called to reschedule the appointment which ended up another month out .. again understandable. The day of my rescheduled appointment, I was notified mid-morning, I'd have to reschedule again as the technician was ill .. ok. I rescheduled, again, dragged out another month. I was told the technician would be there right after lunch. At 5 pm, no one had arrived or even a phone call. I called the office just as they were closing and their only excuse was the technician got delayed. As a monthly paying MVP customer for 5+ years, we're promised all kinds of perks (like head-of-the-line service) .. obviously they are unreliable and I would NOT recommend them. read more

Last night our AC just stopped working. Obviously a problem. I called Champion Comfort Experts who I trust with most of my home system repairs. The operator took my info and promised to have a technician out to me today. Cameron Clark texted and called ahead of his mid-morning arrival. He quickly evaluated the issue by the sound of the heat pump. He made the repair quickly and proficiently. He was prompt, neat, and very professional. 5 Stars for Cameron, an MVP! read more

Last October I had Champion install a Daiken mini-split in my finished basement. The installers arrived, but the electrician couldn't come until the following day. After the electrician hooked up the power, I asked how to operate it. He handed me the owners' manual. After a week of trying, I couldn't get the unit to blow heat or cold. Turns out the unit was defective. It took another 4 weeks to get it replaced. Fast forward to this May, I called to have them service my upstairs unit. The condensation drain had come disconnected and was leaking into my foundation. It took 6 weeks and 3 calls to finally get it fixed. I have tried 3 times to contact the owner (phone, website, and letter), but a month later I've not been contacted. Beware! read more

I am super disappointed in this company. In the first place, we had major install issues which they did fix after complaining for a year. Now after two years the thermostat quits and it's under warranty. However, they won't just give me a new thermostat. To plug on to the wall they want $250 to install it. And that's the discount for a maintenance contract! I will be finding a new company! read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Their 100% satisfaction guarantee is a lie. Do not believe their pushy sales people who say they'll remove the unit "for any reason" because even if you tell them it doesn't work properly, they'll either not answer your phone calls or emails, or just tell you to F yourself to your face. The heat pump I had installed took 3 tries to pass inspection, to the point where the inspector said he wanted to report them to the licensing board. The unit never heated or cooled our bathroom and bedroom properly but the second we tried to have it removed, even going so far as to report to the BBB, they twisted our words to make themselves sound like they were 100% honest, which they weren't. Their company clearly has high turnover, because nobody I worked with initially, even 8 months ago, is still there. I have been nothing but disappointed with their lack of professionalism. Their lies to me about what I was getting (I wanted a dual stage with a high enough SEER rating to qualify for a tax credit - got neither, but I DID get a false promise of both) was just the icing on the cake for me. I'm telling my contractor friends, my realtor friends, and all the homeowners I know to avoid them like the plague they are. read more

These people are scammers. They fixed something to charge you money, but will not fix the issue. They sold me a maintenance plan and 'maintained' a broken machine. They tried to sell me a new system that was way overpriced and 5x more expensive than any other estimate I got. I cancelled the maintenance plan (as my machine was still broken and they were robbing me of money to do nothing) and they did not cancel the plan and still continued charging me. I cancelled it again and requested a refund. I have been calling and calling and calling. I leave messages. Chad will not take responsibility. Chad not followup with my refund. Updating to say that they are waiving the visit charge and explained their technician was newer (he was) and misquoted us, it should have been low $200's and offered to come back today. I declined them returning because the other company was on their way. Original post with technician's inaccuracies redacted: While our technician was kind, they do not share their pricing up front no matter how you ask, and it came out to be $--- AFTER waiving the $89 visit charge from a mailer. This was for snaking a simple drain! It had been snaked previously by a company they bought many years ago for around $120. We called another company and their flat, hourly rate was $---, which I'll happily pay on top of Champion's $73 visit charge (somehow it dropped during our conversation about not using them and why). read more

I originally posted a very positive review when Champion first came out to service my HVAC. To my disappointment, Champion dropped the ball in a big way. First, they were very arrogant when I explained I had a home warranty to cover the cost of the repair. They did not not to help at all when it came to itemizing the cost of the job which seemed very shady to me. I had to call literally 5 or 6 times just to get basic information about the repair. Passed off between 4 different people at the office and still couldn't get a straight answer. Then Ron something called with anger in his voice telling me that I owed over $400 for 1 pound of refrigerant. I live with elderly parents that were put in jeopardy due to their arrogance and insensitivity to the potential health hazard since the weather has been in the 90's. I plan on filing a complaint with the BBB as well as posting my experience on every possible website to help others be aware of unethical trade practices this company employs. Buyer beware!!!!! I'm sure there are plenty of companies that would have had the decency to explain how they arrived at the price charged. After ten years now I have to replace the whole unit after there salesman told me it was good for 20 years. Showed up as promised and were respectful of Covid guidelines. Nice guy. Those are the only good things. Charged me $89 plus tax to inspect my system, no service done at all. Not so much as a filter change. Offered to clean certain parts for extra fee. I kept the letter that said cleaning would improve my HVAC function and reduce bills by more than the cost of routine maintenance call -- which seemed plausible. No maintenance was done. They charged me for an opportunity to up sell. I will dispute the charge. read more

Be warned even though your "warranty" says all parts and labor are covered you still have to pay a dispatch fee of $98 for them to come fix their oversight. Because of the cold weather the outdoor condensation pipe froze and shut the heating system down-twice. I live in the mountains and they did not insulate the outdoor condensation pipe! Of course it's going to freeze in the winter! Water freezes at 32 degrees. They said they can't control the weather, so I had to pay a fee. read more

The couple problems I had: Their prices are insane. First had a guy come out needing to install an air vent with duct work for a room in my home. No additional anything needed. Just a vent in the ceiling and line of duct work ten feet to the main line all inside the attic. Guy told me it would be easy and.... $400. Parts cost $50.... Next thing, outdoor fan for my HVAC stopped spinning. They come out for their $98 service charge. He finds the problem and then shows me to $200 bill for finding it. Good news: The part is under warranty, only an additional $300 to put it in. He says the coolant is low but it should keep working, maybe just less efficiently if I'm not ready to spend numbers in the $1,000s to fix that issue, then just see how long it will last. They fix the panel that was under warranty, the next day it's not working. I call and they say they'll call me back. I give them a few days. I Call again and they say, "Can we come out tomorrow?" I guess so at this point. They come out and tell me conflicting info from the last visit. Because the coolant is low the outdoor unit WON'T kick on as a fail safe... I ask why the last guy didn't tell me that and they say he noted the coolant was low. Well yes, but he never said "And by the way, the fan probably won't kick on if it thinks it's low. You know, the thing you just paid us $500 to fix." After about 5 phone calls I finally get someone to knock some $89 off the first visit since they weren't clear about why they were charging so much. If he would've explained it better it still would've been $200. Then they charge me $240 to check for leaks. Other notes: The first HVAC guy stuck a reader in the indoor panel that beeped and he said "Yeah, looks like it's leaking from here, I should charge you $250 for this but I'm not." The second guy actually did the leak check (much more involved) which made a little more sense for the charge but the first guy seemed as if he was trying to do me a favor or something for pulling out a machine and letting it beep for me. Final word. They run a good business. Trinity (the last guy we saw) was great, knowledgeable and helpful. If you have no budget concerns, I'd say go for it. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere. read more

Not Dependable. I've had a contract with them and I'm cancelling it. They canceled the last maintenance visit due to a personal reason for the technician. OK, I understand but then the next available appointment was a month later!!! They promised me the first appointment that day at 8 a.m. At 9:22 they texted that the technician was on his way. He arrived over 3 HOURS LATER at 12:30. The person at the office claimed the technician went to the wrong job. This is not acceptable especially at the high price of the maintenance contract. read more

I can not say enough great things about this company!!! They installed a new heat and air system in my home. Every staff member treated me like a friend, not just a customer. The office staff was available any time I had a question. During the initial estimate, I was shown options and explained the comparison of different models. Once the installation was complete by the installer and licensed electrician, I was explained in detail how to operate all the equipment. My old equipment was removed and the work area cleaned with nothing left behind. If you are looking for a company for your heat and air needs, or electrical needs...look no further. Had great installation and service with Affordable Comfort who merged into Champion a few years ago. When our furnace recently stopped working, was looking forward to the same quality service that I had with Affordable Comfort. Unfortunately did not work out that way. Champion diagnosed a problem totalling over $1,200 in dispatch fee and repair costs. Got a second opinion with another contractor who found that the problem was elsewhere, and fixed it for 1/4 of the price. read more

We had a new furnace/air conditioner installed by this company. J.D. Green was the first representative that we met with. He was very professional and polite and was always on time. Ricky Jones and Vic Selvig ( sp?) we're the two technicians that did the actual installation. They, too, we're on time, professional, polite and had great senses of humor, they worked very hard until entire project was completed. Everyone at this company worked hard to gain our business.
