My pipe to the main sprang a leak so I hired Four Seasons to replace it. Because of a consent issue with a neighbor Devin, the customer service manager, got involved and we were able to resolve it and the project moved forward. It was done quickly and at the estimated amount. read more

$900 per hour is Price Gouging - overcharged for emergency service to repair a leak near the main water meter. Their plumber said it would be $1850 to repair the cracked pvc fitting or $925 per hour. I told him that he could leave so he discounted it to $1500 or $750 per hour. I called the office and they discounted another $200. read more

Beware of price gouging. I had a problem with water coming up from a shower so I called Four Season as I have used them before. I explained the issue and they sent Cale out promptly, which I truly appreciate. Cale worked with my contractor (who was there working on something else) and the City of Asheville Utilities/Water who also came to assess the problem. They were there for about 4 hours. Four Seasons charged me $1,400 to use their camera scope and determine the backwater valve needed to be removed. Cale quoted me $3,100-$5,400 to remove the backwater valve and asked my contractor to remove the outdoor floorboards and retaining wall, which he did. Cale told me the job would take all day and maybe the next day (hence the range of "fixed pricing"). Cale arrived at 8:45 am on Sept 4 and started the job at 9 am. At noon he rang my doorbell and said the job was done and the price was $3,100. I was shocked and questioned why I was being charged $1,000 an hour, a ridiculous amount of money for 3 hours of work (Cale dug down less than 2 feet to get to the pipes and couldn't replace one because it was cemented into a piling but he did take out the backwater valve). In addition, he damaged the plastic underground drain pipe (which my contractor replaced). I called the office and was told that in order for Four Seasons to give a high level of service, they had to charge by the job to meet their overhead, and that if the job took longer they would have to eat the extra time. That is false. The job was quoted in a range so they already hedged the risk. Even if they are paying Cale $40 an hour ($80,000 annually) plus benefits and an overhead cost of $100 an hour for trucks, office, insurance, etc., their pricing is still way out of line. And, you don't quote a job and mislead the customer saying the job will take a day and maybe the next to justify the price quote and then do the job in 3 hours. Misleading. Flat rate pricing does not provide transparency or protect the customer, especially if the customer is told the job is going to take much longer than it actually does. And, again giving a range hedges their risk only. Many plumbing companies, including Four Seasons Plumbing have gone to fixed rate pricing because it's simply more profitable. If hourly was more profitable, they would be bidding hourly and this won't change until customers demand hourly pricing. When I called the office and complained Four Seasons reduced the price by $1,000 so I paid $2,100 for the 3 hour job, which is $700 an hour (and $1,400 the week before for 4 hours) for a total of $3,500 (an average of $500/hour). Four Seasons is a rip-off. Their service is prompt and reliable but their pricing is through the roof. They were at my house last week to swap out two kitchen faucets and fix a minor leak under a sink. It was 2.25 hr. job and they billed over $1,400. Unbelievable. Do not hire this company unless you're okay with being fleeced. I gave them two stars only because the plumber they sent over was sympathetic and tried to lower the bill by $200. Prompt, thorough, knowledgable and courteous... that describes Bryan (the plumbing tech) who came to investigate a strange sewer gas smell that we've had in our house for some time. He asked great questions, looked at all possible places and issues that might be causing it and explained his thinking every step of the way. I now see how plumbing problems can be so complex and mysterious! He gave me honest and fair estimates for doing further tests to determine the cause of the problem, without any pressure at all. Oh, and Katt and Arlene were awesome in setting up an appointment quickly; both were so helpful and cheerful. Added bonus-- these are my kind of people; people who not only love their jobs but also love our animals...this month in lieu of a service charge they are collecting a $35 donation to Asheville Humane Society. This was my first time using Four Season's Plumbing. Since they're located just a few miles from the job I thought I'd give them a try. I called them to change out a flush valve on an older Koehler toilet at a rental house. The technician (Anthony) arrived on time for the job and was very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. He looked at the toilet and said they didn't have the flush valve for this toilet but he could rebuild the existing one for around $400, which is crazy expensive and he said it may not be a permanent fix. Keep in mind, this company doesn't have an hourly charge, they have a list of services with set pricing. I wanted it fixed that day so I had him install a new toilet. He installed a Koehler Highline toilet and a new flange. The final bill was a whopping $1281.00 plus $91 tax! The exact same toilet at Lowe's is $239 and the flange is $10. That's over $1000 to install a toilet, which took him less than 2 hours. I owned a business for many years, so I'm all about companies making a profit, but this is basic robbery. Again, this is no reflection on the Technician, he was great. However, this company is over-the-top expensive and a complete rip-off. read more

To their credit, Four Seasons reached out to me to discuss the charge and gave me a discount based on my concern. This company is absolutely wonderful. Jason, the customer representative, is fantastic - super helpful and friendly. And Zach has been so responsive and awesome troubleshooting our plumbing issues, explaining things, and proposing recommendations. We will be having them do the work and will post an update when complete, but so far these guys are the best based on the service call and follow-up! When you have a plumbing issue, you really just want someone who will fix the problem well at a reasonable price - but the added bonus and big difference here compared to other contractors is that you genuinely like all the people you're interacting with. They are on time, professional, and reasonably priced. Nice guys. Answered all my questions, and explained exactly what they were doing.

First of all, this company does do good work. They are prompt, courteous and professional. BUT if you deal with them, know that they will BS you and then charge you an enormous sum for their services. I had a minor plumbing project, an ice maker water line that had to be run from the sink to the fridge through the back of approx. 8 ft. of cabinets. There were also some other minor incidentals too--an outside water faucet and bath faucet that possibly needed replacing (but didn't), a shower that needed a temp. valve adjusted, etc. In all, the plumber spent about an hour at my house that first visit. (Ironically, 15-20 minutes of that was conferring with his supervisor, presumably about what to charge me.) Toward the end of that visit, he said he would need to come back a second time. He needed parts from "a plumbing supply house" and would not be able to get there that day. We agreed on a price and I was supposed get a copy of the invoice I'd signed. But when it came, the attached PDF was just a mishmash of letters and numbers. So I emailed their office back to explain it was unreadable and asked them to please resend. No response. Although my FINAL invoice was perfectly readable, I saw nothing listed that would require a trip to the aforementioned "plumbing supply house": "New 1/2" Supply, 1/4 Turn Shut-off and No-Burst Braided Stainless Steel Ice Maker Supply." There was also an additional charge of $156.15 for two 5 ft. pieces of PEX pipe. (These are $3.28 each at our local Lowes, BTW.) My bill wound up being $1,055 for the aforementioned parts and about 2 hours of actual labor. I'm thinking this was at least $150 more than we'd initially agreed on but since I never got a readable copy of the first invoice I signed, there was no way to prove it. If money is no object, call them. But if a fair price and ethics matter to you, I'd look elsewhere. Lesson learned. read more

The next day he and his helper G. arrived on time to replace my hot water heater. They did a great job! I had used Roto-Rooter in the past, but they not only beat their quote but Four Seasons will also will come out every year to check the system. My Rinnai tankless water heater developed a leak. Michael came promptly, evaluated the situation, gave me several options and thoroughly answered my questions. He was able to replace my gas unit the same day and worked into the evening to make sure everything was right. This far exceeded my expectations and I couldn't be happier with the result. He was very professional, positive and polite in spite of the long day. Though he is relatively new to this career, he was exceptionally competent and thorough. I've dealt with a lot of plumbers through the years and it was obvious to me that he had been trained well so Four Seasons must be making a strong investment in their employees. Thank you Four Seasons. I have been without water in my house for 5 days. After going to Lowes to attempt to buy a water heater and have it installed, I only got the run around and workers who failed to show up to my house. I called Four Seasons on Tuesday, and on Wednesday Stephen showed up, diagnosed the problem, installed a new water heater, triple checked his work, cleaned up everything and made sure everything was working properly before he left. I can not be any happier with the service I received. And not only is the work guaranteed, it includes regular maintenance. I will NEVER use a different company for any plumbing needs I have. By now, most everyone is familiar with the Latin phrase caveat emptor. If you are not, it means "buyer beware". Sadly, it's a piece of advice that experience has taught myself and my wife to heed the words, with a lot of various professional businesses. Case in point: the power went out in our garage, requiring an electrician to examine and repair. But because of our relative remote location, we had a difficult time finding anyone who would come out. Finally, we were able to find a guy. When he and his partner arrived, they examined the wiring, determined the issue, and said they could fix it for what we thought was a fair bargain. However, in the process of making the repairs, they disconnected our well's filtration system, causing tons of orange sediment to flow into our drinking water. On top of that, their electrical work they did was dangerously slipshod. More on this later. A month or two later, we determined that our thirty year old water tank needed to be replaced. Because of the tank location, we thought it best to let a pro handle it. So, keeping in mind the Latin phrase, and with the help of Yelp, we called up 4 Seasons, who dispatched Brian who showed up promptly. We told Brian what we wanted to do, and mentioned the orange water issue. He examined the tank, looked at the water, looked at the pump-house motors, and then looked at the electrical. He sat down with us, and took his time in explaining all the options available for water heating, advantages, disadvantages, and costs. Then told us what was wrong with the filter system, and offered to fix it. And while the overall cost was slightly higher than we anticipated due to the water issue, he also fixed the electrical issue because, in his own words, "I couldn't leave it, knowing it could cause an electrical fire." Now, while it's highly recommend to do diligence when it comes to professional services such as plumbing services, it's also quite pleasant when a company and/or their reps go above and beyond what is expected and agreed upon. We shall be using them for all our future plumbing needs and recommending them to friends, family, and you. read more

We arrived at our vacation home to find a leak in our upstairs bathroom. I shut off the water and called Four Seasons Plumbing. They answered immediately and told me that they would have a plumber out the next day. Horace arrived on schedule and immediately went to work to figure out the cause of the leak. He discovered that it was the water intake hose and could either tighten it and hope that the hose was ok or replace it, which actually was less money than tightening it. Since we are not here all the time we opted for the replacement (which was cheaper). Horace offered to check the other connections and discovered that the basement toilet hose was also leaking. We had him replace that one also. The master bathroom was fine. He repaired the hoses and explained everything to me. We felt the price was more than fair. 100% positive experience. Elizabeth and KD did a bathroom renovation which required replacing undersized Polly pipes with new Pex pipes. They had to cut large tracks in the sheetrock to get to the pipes. They went beyond anything I've experienced with other plumbers to do the job right, to control dust, and to provide cost saving tips for how to finish the remodel. Their up front, total job pricing took the worry out of what the total job would cost. It was a treat to have Elizabeth and KD in our house. They were so respectful of us and our home. This job required an experienced plumber's knowledge and creative problem solving. KD was an apprentice already showing good skills and Elizabeth was both teaching and carefully supervising him. We used Four Seasons twice last year and received relatively prompt service. This Saturday morning we woke to find our front yard and basement flooded from a broken water line. When I called for service, I was told that they only provide services to their premium members and could not do anything until at least next week. I had never heard of premium membership since nobody had ever offered it to me. Thankfully we found a new plumber who is on the way and will become our new plumber. read more

From the first phone call Four Seasons was very helpful and easy to communicate with. As I write this my house is recovering from a burst pipe due to corrosive pH in our well water, which technicians Shawn and Patrick explained and gave thorough details on options for repairs at various pricing levels. We need all new pipes and a good pH filter, which sucks, but Shawn and Patrick were the first repairmen we've had work on this moneypit that were actually a pleasure to talk to and be around, and that meant a lot on top of the timely repair. Fixed nothing, cut holes in the ceiling and then magically concludes that the dishwasher leaks not the house plumbing, $400 and 60 minutes later leaves me with a $1000 in repairs. He took advantage of my wife who did not dispute the charge. Matt called and resolved my major issue. I think in the future I'll be on site to prevent unnecessary diagnostics. We had an emergency situation with water spraying into our basement at full force. I called Four Seasons Plumbing and explained the situation. They had done work for us previously. I did not receive a call back. Waited 30 minutes and called again. I was then told that if we were not members of their loyalty program they would not come out. Called on Tuesday to have my kitchen drain unclogged that was running slow. Was told they'd be here between 12 and 5 on Thursday. Was called a couple times telling me truck had broken down and technicians were backed up. Finally at 4:30 I was told they would be there in an hour. Told them that was too late and put me on tomorrow after 11:00. Said get to me as early as possible. Received a call at 1:30 telling me technicians were on 1st call and they wouldn't be there till later this afternoon. Asked for approximate time and she said late. Said I'd call someone else. Too expensive and shoddy work especially for the price. To anyone looking for a plumbing service I suggest asking peers and relatives for someone with more experience and one that doesn't use desperation to price gouge its customers. Herein is my experience: The service "tech" seemed inexperienced and had to call someone else several times to locate an expansion tank that I very clearly explained the location of. The "problem" they found was going to be billed in the multiple thousands of dollars if we ended up using them. I called another plumber to investigate and explain the issue. Upon hiring the other plumber (which ended up being 84% less costly) I found that the problem was a different issue that I fear Four Seasons would have been persuaded to bill me for the full amount regardless of what issue presented itself. There is no positive outcome I can think of this situation other than I now know to stay away from this company. read more

Eric at Four Seasons provided excellent service, showed up in a beautiful truck, was friendly and did the job well. When I called dispatch to setup my appointment, they were courteous and had availability whenever I needed. So why the 1 star? My god the price, the cover up, ridiculous trip charge. I asked the lady who answered the phone, what do you charge for a toilet install? She said, oh well it's different case by case. This was a lie. The truth was, she didn't want me to hang up on her when she gave me the price. Eric showed me his flat rate sheet - it was $520. Five hundred and Twenty dollars... to do a simple toilet replace, nothing fancy. If I hadn't needed it desperately done for family coming in town for the holidays, I would have told him to go home. Also as someone else mentioned, there's a non refundable $29 trip charge - so even though I was lied to about the price not being set in stone over the phone, if I would have told Eric the flat rate price they did have was indeed too high, I would have still been charged $29, just for being lied to by his office. Guess what - that $29 also doesn't apply to your final ridiculous bill. So after being charged double what I should have for a toilet instal, I also got hit with the $29 trip charge on top of that, not to mention I live 3.8 miles from their office. A toilet install should be $200-300. I've flipped a few houses in LA before I moved to Asheville. We had a couple wonderful plumbers. They could knock it out in an hour tops and it was usually in the low 200's. $521 is highway robbery and the bait and switch - its case by case to then hearing there's a flat rate - is almost criminal. Do yourself a favor and go with someone else. read more

Joel came out same day, but he also expanded the cost for the basic Serling clean out to include replacing the sewer line itself. He did the job but I felt he over billed based on my request thru the four season plumbing dispatcher for the $93 clean out service offered on line. However Joel billed me $401.68 for the same job including tax. He took the focus off the immediate job and became a salesman for the bigger job. I had to call the company back and cancel the line replacement due to not being able to afford the bigger job. I expect them to honor the original cost offer. read more

He recommended rerouting the plumbing of a stopped-up bathtub drain, rather than take a chance on whether the auger would damage pipes and still not be a long-term fix. I had them come out on a Sunday and asked first if they could replace a 75 gallon hot water heater. I was told they had those in stock. When the service person came out, he did find out that my water heater was under warranty, but then wanted $1725 to install a new one (which he did not stock). I told him that was more than the water heater would cost. Then he opened his price book and showed me that a new unit was around $5000!!! I went with someone else the next day. The new water heater (if I had paid for it) was only $1000, not $5000 and I got it delivered and installed for $300 instead of $1725. Four Seasons was out to rip me off and I resent it. After I acquired my new home I discovered serious drainage problems in my yard after heavy rains. At one point I had to erect a barrier to keep the water from coming inside and flooding my newly installed flooring. Several plumbers came to view the problem but none had a solution. Four Seasons Plumbing saved the day. They installed a new, underground drainage system in both my front and back yards, for a very reasonable price. Voila! Drainage problem no longer exists no matter how long or hard it rains. These people are all highly experienced and are long time employees. They know what needs to be done and the best way to do it.
