I seldom write reviews but the service I received at Marathon Sports in Cambridge was so…read moreexceptional that I feel compelled to publicly applaud it. An avid runner until I was 50, two hip surgeries necessitated that I change my routine to walking and pool running. For close to 29 years, this worked for me. Approaching 80 has brought about new challenges. Recently I had to go to the foot doctor who took X-rays and told me that I have severe arthritis in my left foot. This explained much about some of the difficulties I have been having with my walking regimen. He explained that more than ever I need to be very careful with my walking shoes and explained the type of support my aging feet would need to get me another 10 years of walking the river. When I went into Marathon Sports, I felt truly welcomed and was lucky to have Nina as my sales person. She is just one of the kindest most patient sales people was ever my good fortune to meet. I was a difficult and demanding customer but my experience there leaves me grateful to her and the folks there at Marathon. James Spencer, Cambridge, MA

Yelp Review 2026 #209:…read more I waited at the very last minute to buy my team's jersey for the World Cup. I went to Nike in Las Vegas before coming to Boston and they didn't have any. This Nike store in Boston is along a shopping street. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and cafes along the way. I went in and combed the store for a jersey but the smallest size they had was XL which is basically a dress on me. But desperate times... The line to pay was super long and there was only one cashier! It wasn't until the line started to block a portion of the store did a second register opened up. If you know your city is hosting a major sporting event, you should be well-staffed! Which they were but some of them weren't really doing anything, not helping customers.

This isn't an outlet location so it's mostly full price items, they have a decent array of clothing, jackets starting to roll out, and a good spread of their sneaker models from dunks, Jordan's, runners and casual walking. Didn't stay here too long but i like the layout of the store and the openness of it to walk around.

Neill: Hi, I have always owned and ran in (insert shoe) but have heard that the new (insert shoe) is out and is getting great reviews. SEAC: We don't carry that shoe Neill: Oh, well...I'm past my due on new shoes and was looking for a change. SEAC: We won't get that shoe for months. *end of conversation* (this would have been a great time to talk with me about what I like in a running shoe and help me understand that one of your models would be a great change!) Neill: Hi, what do you guys have for running hats/sweatbands? SEAC: We don't carry any. Neill: Nothing? SEAC: What do you need one for...? Neill: To keep the sweat from running down my forehead and burning my eyesight out that would send me running into traffic. SEAC: Yea, we don't carry anything. (Really...maybe I could wrap one of your numerous 'SEAC' T-shirts around my head, there were plenty of them) This would have been a great time to explore options such as; taking down my email and putting me on an update list when new products arrive or even going so far as to order a couple items in for me? I'm not sure what your business model is...but without more focus on service you are not going to win my loyalty. You can have pretty windows and a nice logo, but I can't imagine that pushing me over to city sports can be very good for your bottom line. I like to run and I like to do business in my neighborhood. Even though I love the idea of this business I can not give over two stars until they mature a little in their 'retail senses'.

Although it's on the smaller side for an REI, it is bigger than it seems. They have decent selection of gear and brands - definitely all the essentials. You can order online as well to pick up at or ship to the store if a specific item is not available. I tend to utilize this if there is something specific (brand/color, etc) that I know I want and then it's super efficient to pick up. The staff is super nice and always happy to guide to the section you are looking for. They are also helpful if you are returning an item or exchanging and I love their commitment to sustainability in the community as well. I always see people down in the bike/repair area so that seems to be a super convenient option to have for a the cyclists in Boston. I swear, every store in Boston feels like the staff are doing you a favor, and walk around like lethargic former crack addicts on the last leg of withdrawal. You do get the occasional happy girl behind the counter at Nike on Newbury, but everyone else is pure molasses. Then I walked into Under Armour at the Pru, and everything changed. First, that ginormous torso with the Patriots t-shirt is just plain cool, but it gets better. I honestly felt like I was in Lululemon or Kit & Ace, where staff really engage you. I walked in there originally looking for sweatpants, but staff were so engaging that I walked out with 4 different types, and to this day, love every one of them. I'm hoping this isn't just new store enthusiasm, and really want to enjoy coming back in the future. For now though, this is the only sports retail store I look forward to on future shopping trips, and as always, their products are top notch. Keep it up!

Not sure how they keep the lights on ... the prices here are obscene. Worse than Goat or StockX…read more It's more of an art gallery, with shoes and clothing as the art, than an actual store. There is nothing I hate worse than sneaker resellers! These bot-using parasites infect sneaker drops and leave shoe-loving sneakerheads frustrated and stinging with losses on release day. This is listed as a consignment shop ... but everything is brand new. The Yeezys in the window, the Jordan I in the display cases and the clothing scattered throughout. All new, all allocated and hard to find ... all about 400% above retail prices. My question is ... why would I shop here if I could find the same (or lower) price at StockX ... at least be guaranteed that the shoes I buy on GOAT are genuine (fakes are getting much harder to detect) ... and this place, like websites, does not allow you to try on the shoes before you buy them? Overall, this store just doesn't make sense to me. Especially in Burlington Mall. I hate the concept of glorifying resellers ... and in LA, the high end sneaker shops at least wrap their shoes in shrink wrap to protect them. Here, they're out exposed to dust, bottoms touching shelves, etc.
