I have nothing bad to say about this cute place. I didn't dine there, I just came for the onigiri. What a selection! I've only had onigiri from one other location and that was from a local Japanese market. That one was a bit "hard" with too much rice and too little salmon. These are not that! I bought 5 or 6 of them. I've had one so far, the unagi onigiri. The rice is warm, soft and textured. The pieces of unagi are really substantial, especially when compared to the one I bought from the store. It was so tender, moist and tasty. Im a huge unagi lover, so there is that. Also, you could actually taste the unagi and not a thick sauce. The place is small, clean and adorable. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I'm off to Japan in a couple of months, so when I can afford to, I like trying different places in the Asian community. Especially, Japanese. read more

The food here was literally top tier!! I am not a big tempura fan, but this place really changed my mind. The sauce they use is good, the tempura is deliciously crispy, and the miso soup tastes amazing!! My friend tried a different dish and when I'm back in town I'm definitely going to come back and try it! When you're coming to Vegas, do not miss out on this place!! You also have to try the onigiri that they have, it's really good and helped me on the drive back home. Finally got to try this hidden gem and it was well worth the wait! We got here on a Sunday at 11:40am and there was already a line! Luckily they opened right on 12pm and while you waited, they let you view the menu and you can order outside so the service was quick! The restaurant was quite tiny! Almost like a speakeasy! You could only fit about 12 customers at a time! Most of the line was for the onigiri which was amazing! All the staff was friendly and the restaurant itself was quite clean. And lets talk about food! We ordered the Premium plate (5/5) which had had a little of everything. This was awesome as you got to try different items! We also ordered the Shrimp Lover (5/5)which had mostly shrimp tempura, perilla tempura, and seaweed tempura! All of which was super delicous! Lastly we ordered the snow crab tempura! Arrived when it opened at 12pm, and waited about 20 minutes before we were let in to pick out some onigiri. The place is tiny inside, so I could imagine the line could be 30+ minutes for take out. We picked out a good variety cause they all looked delicious, but each one had easily 85% rice and 15% protein. Each priced about $4-$7. So the first bite or two for all of them was tasty, then it's all rice. Though the texture of the rice is nice. I also don't know why these places ask for a 20%+ tip when I shop for my own food and the cashier just bags it and rings me up.. Yelp Review 2024 #87: I've been to Japan a few times and coming back to Vegas always makes me disappointed with the thought of "why don't we have (insert Japanese food item here)?" Ten-Don being one of them - a simple rice bowl with assorted tempura on top and drizzled by a delicious thicker tempura sauce. Every Japanese restaurant has tempura but not ten-don...it doesn't make any sense! I make my own ten-don at home. But now, we can say we have a restaurant that has ten-don! I don't have a memory about Chamon being a matcha/ hojicha cafe from years ago because every single time I've attempted to go, they're closed! I gave up and eventually they closed anyway. Yesterday was their grand opening. People stood in line for an hour or more. They ran out of onigiri within an hour or less. They did put on their Insta to get them early because they only make a limited quantity. The parking lot at this strip mall can be a major nightmare. So, you have to plan your trip to Chamon accordingly. They're open Thursday to Monday from 12pm-3pm, and 5pm-9pm meaning they're closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, and from 3pm-4:59pm on days they're open (they spell it out for you on their Insta and their website). We got here at 11:30am and we were 7th in line. It was giving me Tokyo vibes - you have to stand in line for hours to dine at a restaurant because they don't take reservations. Not sure that's going to work in Vegas long-term. They can only seat 11 diners at a time. While waiting in line, somebody takes your ten-don order. If you're getting onigiri, you don't have to place your order - you grab a basket and fill your basket with whatever onigiri you want. We were there for both the ten-don and onigiri. It was a bit chaotic as those getting onigiri had to sit on chairs by the door but can't grab onigiri until they're told, ten-don eating diners sit at the dining area but I was both. I sat with the onigiri people and here comes a ten-don eating diner helping herself to a basket grabbing onigiri. So, of course I had to say something. Ten-don eating diners get first dibs on the onigiri - so, I grabbed a basket and my selection of onigiri. Crisis averted. And the onigiri people were like "we have to go to work" - maybe, go when you're not working. They make fresh ten-don (made-to-order). If you have ever made tempura, you'll know the batter has to be just right (the consistency and the temperature), the oil has to be at a certain temperature. You can get ten-don (tempura rice bowl) or a combo (a tray of food with components separated). You can get a premium, vegetable or deluxe. Premium Ten-Don: 2 Ebi Shrimp, Onion Kakiage, Soft boiled egg, Renkon lotus root, Enoki mushrooms, Shiso leaf, Nori with rice at the bottom. The sauce is already drizzled on the tempura and some would sit at the bottom with the rice. Served with Miso soup and pickles. If you should need more sauce, they have it on the table as well as a small red container of chili powder. 5/5 Deluxe Ten-Don: Anago Sea Eel, 2 Ebi Shrimp, Baby scallop Kakiage, Soft-boiled egg, Renkon lotus root, Enoki mushrooms, Shiso leaf, Nori, rice at the bottom. Served with Miso soup and pickles. It looks small but it's a lot of food! I ended up taking half of it to-go. The oil wasn't hot enough when they cooked the shiso leaf as it was oily but everything else was perfectly cooked and delicious. Deep-frying a soft-boiled egg is something I would not do at home. The sauce was absolutely fantastic - the right combination of salty, sweet and umami. The shrimps were a good size and the eel wasn't fishy at all. 4.5/5 Onigiri: We grabbed 6 different kinds with the goal to try the others every time we come here. We tried tenmusu (shrimp tempura), Chashu Naruto (pork belly slice with surimi), unagi sansho (eel with shiso leaf), salmon Ikura (cooked salmon with salmon roe), spicy teriyaki chicken mayo (that we thought was tuna but the smoky flavor of this was really good), and Aonori karaage (fried chicken). I liked them all. Typically, you get so little protein and about 80% rice when you get onigiri but at Chamon, it's 30-40% protein 60-70% rice (unless you get the vegetarian onigiri). Obviously, there are some kinks they still need to work on since they've only been open for 2 days. But the fact that everyone that works here kept their composure and a smile on their face amidst the chaos is admirable. Tendon is one of my favorite Japanese meals. It is difficult to find in states I was so excited for this one to open. We arrived at 11:45 on Sunday and there was already a long line. The store is very small with approximately seats for 12 people. There is also Onigiri which you can purchase to go, but still have to wait in line as only five people can come in at a time. We put our name down and came back when our table was ready at 1pm. The service was friendly and quick as she took our order while we waited for the table to wrap up. We ordered the deluxe tempura set which came with a side of Matcha salt and tempura sauce. Their special sauce was already on the table and it was as delicious. The tempura was fried right in front of me and was perfectly crispy and the egg was sooo delicious. I honestly don't think you need the extra salt or tempura sauce. They didn't have enoki mushroom which was replaced by pumpkin- totally fine by me. There was one small hiccup as they forgot our pickles - but I was forgot so we didn't get it until we finished eating. It would've been nice to have as it would balance the tempura nicely. We also got two onigiri to go- eel and salmon- I haven't tried it yet but will report back once I do. read more

I've been wanting to try the onigiri since I saw they opened, and today I finally did! It's a very small space with maybe 10-14 seats available, so when I came in at around 2, there was a 45 minute wait to try the tempura. Next time I'm definitely getting on that list to try it! But I got 5 onigiris, one corn and edamame, one pork chashu, one tuna mayo, and two spam musubi. I loved every one of them! It's super easy, you walk in, get a basket, and fill it up. Waited for an hour in line and wasn't told by any staff or sign that we'd have to check in (with the staff at the register) to be in line for dine-in. I had assumed the line was for both dine-in and/ or onigiris since there wasn't any staff outside checking in the line. I like the variety they have for the onigiris and price point is good, however there's too much rice to protein ratio. The size of it looks nice until you eat it and it's 75% rice. The onigiris were also more on the salty side. Although if I were to compare this place to other convenient style onigiris I'd choose Chamon. I wish they chose a location that was bigger. There's only a couple of dining tables available. I'd go back but just to try to go for dine in again and try the tempura sets. read more

The place is pretty small inside (3 tables and some counter seating) but intimate. The employees there are very friendly and welcoming. Prior to ordering lunch, I went to pick out a few onigiris to take home (just ate them for dinner and although tasty they weren't anything special). Our tempura dishes came out in a reasonable amount of time and looked delicious. Presentation was appealing. The tempura had a nice thin layer of batter which was crisp, and it had a nice umami flavoring. They were able to let us in because we're buying some onigiris and dine in. This place is tiny, only four tables and three seats at the bar, but food was amazingly gooood!!!! We originally planned to eat the tempura don inside the restaurant but space inside was a lot smaller than what we expected. So we just grabbed the onigiri and didn't eat the tempura don. There was a wide variety of onigiri and I liked how you can choose in a little basket. I got the mentai cream cheese and salmon which funny enough the former was too creamy and the latter was too dry. I grabbed the salmon and the eel one to eat hours later and both were delicious. Went with some friends for a late lunch on a sat and arrived at 2 pm (last call is at 2:30, which was when we got seated). We didn't think much of it cause normally this place has a line out the door and into the plaza so we considered ourselves lucky if anything. The restaurant only serves tempura and negitoro bowls. I had the tempura meal which solid and the perfect portion (but it may seem to others a smaller portion). It was not out of this world tempura but it was *really* good - I love when restaurants have the flaky tempura breading as opposed to what feels like a sleeve of fried liquid breading.
