Custard on chocolate sponge cake
Winnie S.

My partner and I came for their Monday night staff dinner prix fix special. My partner wasn't really interested in going initially but was so tummy happy I convinced him to go. The menu changes every Monday. On the night we went, it started with a big bowl of roasted tomato soup. The main entre was a thick piece of pork chop perfectly cooked and juicy. We finished with the custard and chocolate sponge cake. Service was great and fast too. I asked our waiter when this Monday night special will end and he mentioned it'll be for a while so we'll be back and checking every week to see what creative menu will be served.

I always have a wonderful time here. It's a great alternative to waiting forever in the rain for Jam Café--which can feel a bit excessive. I love that you can make reservations and also walk in without much trouble. The service is consistently good and the food is delicious. I've visited for both brunch and dinner. For brunch, the waffles are always a solid choice, especially their smoked trout eggs Benedict served on waffles. For dinner, I tried their Dine Out menu this year and really enjoyed it. My go-to dish is the moules frites. I'll definitely be back--this place has never disappointed me over the years.

We came here for Valentine's dinner as the food is pretty consistent. Of course the mussels were really good! But my favorite was actually the chorizo stuffed squid! Perfectly charred and balanced flavors. It was such a standout dish for me. The beef carpaccio on the other hand, I didn't like as much as I felt the fried onions on top were too overpowering.

Stopped in here for dinner after getting in to vancouver. I immediately loved the space! It's spacious and open but the lighting is warm and cozy. I sat at the bar and really enjoyed talking to the server. All the staff were super friendly. And they have matchbooks here! The dinner menu is super interesting; everything has a surprising twist to it. I ordered the L'Assiete Forestiere, which is a vegan dish with mushrooms, sweet potato, bbq tofu, Brussels sprouts, root vegetables, and a unique sauce. It was absolutely delicious and the presentation was amazing!! A great portion and very filling. I also appreciated their kombucha brand, made in BC.

Brunch on the long weekend. Busy day. We were seated at the back of the main floor. The space between tables is quite narrow - less than an arm's length. We asked for low sodium on both dishes and the mussels are still on the salty side. Food is quite delicious. Decent portion. Nice decorations. Will visit again.

AMAZING BRUNCH. Absolutely delicious and filling! The service was too notch! I loved our server. He was very enthusiastic and started our day with a friendly face. The brunch is a bit expensive but it is worth it! The only qualm is the seating. Could be more comfortable. Beware queues on weekends. Best to make a reservation as it was very busy when we went. We waited by the entrance for 10 minutes before being seated, and we had a reservation.

Shashuka w/ pita chips

Went for a friend's bday brunch and can't believe I haven't written a review for Chambar but tbf, it's been several years since I had brunch here and cannot remember what I ordered back then. I also had dinner for a work event maybe 2 years ago and remember getting the sablefish which was very good. The brunch menu has quite a few tempting dishes as was debating on a few from paella but had pork sausage so I couldn't to indulging on a lamb burger but felt it would be too filling so I went with shashuka. It consists of roast red pepper stew, baked eggs, green lentils, and fried halloumi. It was uniquely plated than I've had it at Medina so perhaps was surprised but it was very tasty. The fried halloumi was the star. The tomato spice based fried eggs was delicious to pair with pita chips w/ zaatar. The only thing that could have been better was the cooked green lentils but they were cold. I did not taste the pistachios and the barberry salad was too subtle. I had their delicious lavendar latte which was perfect for a rainy fall day as I used to dream abt this when I lived in Yaletown. Agree with my friend this is underrated for brunch and was a delicious meal and our server Zachary was very nice.

Took long enough for me to finally hit up Chambar as it's been a Vancouver staple and the hype is real. Went on a whim with my partner since we were really craving muscles and everything just hit the spot. Ambience is very cozy and romantic - The dishes were top notch and so were the drinks. Really great spot for a special occasion or when you want to impress someone LOL

La Saucisse

I visited Chambar during a road trip with my partner to the city. Due to the extensive use of wood in the decor, the ambiance was both warm and modern. The server was nice and was helpful in helping us figure out what type of drink we would want. Due to being a fan of Ciders, we ended up ordering the Nomad Traditional Dry. I got the La Saucisse, and my partner ended up getting the Brochette de Porc. Overall, the La Saucisse was delicious. In particular, the sausage was full of flavor yet still juicy. My partner and I were pleasantly surprised by how crispy the cornbread was, and we initially worried it might be dry, as we are used to American cornbread. However, that was not the case! The inside was fluffy, creating a perfect balance of a crispy exterior and an airy interior.

First time here and loved the service, ambiance and portion was generous. We came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and they had a Dine Out Vancouver special $65 per person, 3- course meal! I love that they offered a cheese board as a dessert but their coconut cheesecake was so decadent I would still choose that. The only thing that I found not so great was that lack of parking in the area unless you want to pay $36 for the parkade. The last stall in the restroom had windows that were not covered and there condos all around. My friend's bill also looked incorrect. Besides these things, I still enjoyed the food very much!

A beautiful awesome day amazing people of the world! This morning we're at it again for another brunch episode during our "eff around and find out" adventures in different cities around the world. Today we find ourselves at Chambar in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. Why here?? Because we're hungry and we wanna give it this place a go at it. First up is the Shakshuka which was amazing, I specially loved the lentils with the fried halloumi. Put that with the stew on the pita chips and stick it all in your mouth. Amazing! Then there's the La Saucisse, which literally means "The Sausage" en frances. It's got cornbread, eggs, and watercress. But the star of the show is that chimichurri. I could eat that with a spoon. It's that good. Anyway, if you like discovering new places to smash. Hit that follow on my profile. Share this review with a smash mode buddy and thank you so much for reading my review. I hope this helps with your decision making experience. Enjoy your awesome yelptastic day! I love you!

The Brunch Paella

Loved the ambiance and the service. We sat on the patio and it was beautiful. They only had the brunch menu so I got the Paella. The flavor wasn't out of this world, but it was still good.

Le Boeuf!
Angelina D.

The service was exceptional. We had The Le Boeuf. It was delicious and tender. It was well presented with eggs, an amazing au gratin potato, and a micro salad. The drip coffee was ok but the meal more than made up for it. We fished with waffle with berry sauce. We sat on the patio. The music was very relaxing and atmosphere sophisticated. Enjoy!

This could be the greatest staff in all of Southern BC. Patient, kind, humorous. Not only can they explain the different items and their ingredients, they can describe exactly how it all tastes. To which they are 100% accurate! The six of us played community food, but what's the point here? All the poutine was awesome. Oh well, it's fun to share. Yes, get The Gaucho "Cowboy", but also try the Butter Chicken, Vegetarian Chili and my favourite, the Le Montreal. ALL the poutines rocked! The burgers are juicy and full of flavour. This group has found a way to marry all the flavours so they complement each other all through the meal until the end. Portion size was another crazy, happy surprise. So much so that the cost no longer matters (as you may have guessed, the cost was reasonable). Still, if it's just a couple of you, you might go regular as opposed to jumbo...unless you're thinking late night leftovers. We pigged-out and didn't get a chance to reheat this food. Mistake on my part. 05/25

Service was good, friendly. The restaurant is the same as I recall, clean enough. A little cramped and the seating isnt too comfortable. Its really not a good place to hang out for a long time, but rather sit down, eat, and get out type of place. I had the lavender latte and the Tagine this time. Ive had it before and at least its pretty consistent. Ive tried several other things on their menu in the past too, all pretty solid 4/5. Nothing standout as so amazing to deserve 5 stars, but consistent and tasty. I did have a reservation which they charge $10/person for, purely for donation to a charity and does not contribute to your meal at all, and also nonrefundable. While I find this somewhat annoying, I dont blame them for doing this from a business standpoint. They always have a lineup so there is no shortage of customers for them. There is no reason they need to deal with the headache of a ton of reservations. On the flip side, they honoured my reservation in a very timely fashion and I bypassed the line, so props to them for doing that part right. If you have to park, then you may find street metered parking or use one of the nearby paid lots.

We ordered: fish dip - cured/smoked white fish with onions and capers, served with saltine crackers. The fish was good, but the saltine crackers were nothing special. I would have preferred some toast instead or something other than opening a package of saline crackers from the grocery store. 2/5 for the crackers, 4/5 for the fish. 3/5 for this dish overall. The Burger - good beef but a bit too salty. Served with cheese and bacon on a bun. No veg. I prefer a classic American style burger personally. The fries were just ok - on the dry side. 3.5/5 Roast chicken - excellent piece of chicken. Perfectly cooked, moist, crispy skin. Excellent sauce and sides. For me this was a 5/5. Duck Breast - nice cook on the duck, solid dish. 4.5/5. Side of Cabbage - 2 quarters of a head, grilled with an anchovy sauce. Actually quite nice if you like cabbage. 4/5.
