Chai Yo Thai is my go-to Thai restaurant in the Riverview/Valrico/Brandon area. The lunch specials are some of the best around, and the food has been consistently great every time I've visited. One thing that really stands out is that they ask for your preferred spice level when you order. Not many places around here do that--most serve dishes mild and let you add spice later, which isn't ideal for takeout. I prefer when the heat is cooked into the dish, and they do it right here. There are a few other Thai spots in the area that I enjoy, but this one is my favorite. The value, quality, and service are all top-notch. It's located in a strip mall with plenty of free parking, so don't expect a fancy atmosphere--but it's clean and comfortable. Came for lunch! It wasn't crowded at all. Was seated immediately. You can tell this is a family owned restaurant. Customer service was great. Everyone was so friendly. I order the sweet and sour (pad priew-wan) with shrimp lunch special. It came with chicken rice soup and a crispy crab wonton. Delicious! I substituted the rice for rice noodles. So good. I ordered their chicken pad Thai through uber for pickup on my way home from work field reviews and I ordered it in hot. It was absolutely delicious and made to order. I drove home 35 minutes and it was still nice and hot. The heat level was just how I wanted. Chicken was tender and soaked in all the sauce. They were closing in an hour and it was a Wednesday night so there was no one else dining at the time but the restaurant was very clean and the front desk employee said to just call ahead next time instead of using uber because he said it would be a lot cheaper for me and they do accept orders over the phone which I really appreciated. I was in the area and craving Thai, so we stopped here without looking it up prior to. On the walk in, the place was so clean and we were greeted with the biggest smile from I'm assuming was the owner. The menu has a LOT of options. Overall, the service was so fast & truly could not have asked for a kinder staff. We shared lots of laughs. We ordered: Thai teas, chicken satay, wonton soup, crab Rangoons, mango sticky rice, and the star of the show: the crispy fried duck! The wateriest curry I've ever had. Ordered a yellow curry and panang curry. The bowl is huge and filled to the top. And not sure why so much liquid for one scoop of rice. My wife and daughter's favorite Thai restaurant--pad Thai and green curry. I prefer the wontons and Rangoon, while our son loves their duck. Chai Yo is a great local restaurant-family owned and run, with a manageable menu and terrific service. It's a bit of a hole-in-the-wall, but the food is really good and the owners are terrific. This is my first time visiting this restaurant. They have seating inside and I figured they would have take out too. The restaurant smelled nice, that's a plus, and the hostess was friendly. I had the basil chicken which had crisp vegetables and flavorful chicken with some white rice. I also ordered the chicken skewers and they were good on their own. The sauces were interesting. The peanut sauce just wasn't right for this dish, however I did like the sweet cucumber sauce they provided. I would probably eat that on a salad or a gyro, just not for the chicken. Just drove 25 minutes to pick up a to go order, 25 minutes back, ate and had to post this review. I had an order of Veggie Spring Rolls and a Chicken Yellow Curry (no onions, preference) Medium/Hot. They waited 10 minutes before preparing my order so it was fresh at pick-up... ...I got home and I'm in shock. The spring rolls were still crispy and the perfect temperature; as well as the curry and rice. The spring rolls are huge and the curry portion is massive (extremely happy about that). Medium/hot was exactly what I wanted and hoped to get. What baffled me was the quality of their meat. Normally there's always some questionable pieces, but I couldn't find one.
