I've had Ceviche Love on my list to try for a long, and I think it was Yelp's own Jay L. that recommended it. He told me to get the Gobernador and so I did! I got the trio of shrimp tacos and it came out to a bit over $15. While I guess that's not crazy for 3 tacos, it felt like a lot for a taco truck meal. The tacos themselves were good, and I can't hate on them, but it just wasn't my jam. The combination of shrimp and cheese just didn't do it for me in this dish, and I felt like there could have been more shrimp. I dunno. Was a very sloppy meal to eat and I was pretty full when done, in fairness. I'll need to come back here and try something else at some point to give them another chance at a higher rating. read more

Located right down the road from the 812 flea market, it looks like any other dirt lot food truck at first glance. But once you pull in and step inside, you'll see that it's actually a pretty chill and low-key spot for locals to drink a few beers and eat refreshing ceviche to keep cool on hot days. As a landlocked city, finding truly fresh seafood in Austin can be challenging. Which is why I find the 35-minute drive south from where I live absolutely worth it during the summer to have lunch here. I've tried ALL of their ceviches across different visits and everything from their shrimp and octopus, to oyster and tilapia is just so fresh and satisfying. Highly recommend the ones that come with mango chunks, too! They also have very good cooked dishes, such as the extra spicy Camarones a la Diabla, and even some solid dessert options like their Fresas con Crema. We wanted to try a new place the other day and decided on Ceviche Love! It's out on sort of a rural road in southeast Austin. You order outside but there is both indoor and outdoor seating. We got three items: The fish tacos were my favorite by farrr and would definitely go back just for these. Huge portions and probably the best I've had in Austin. The empanadas were alright, but wouldn't be enough to get me to come back. The ceviche, it's namesake, wasn't my favorite but mostly because the fish was a bit chunkier than I'd like. Ceviche Love is located in southeast Austin, close to the airport. It has lots of options for ceviche, aguachiles, tostadas, tacos. The number of options is a little overwhelming but there are visual photos of the foods onsite, plus you can check out their IG for photos as well. I tried the tostada especial and ceviche as well as the fish tacos. The tacos were good, especially the sauce. the way the fish was breaded wasn't my preference and it could be crispier. The one covered in the Austin Chronicle is the new East Side. The one the Austin Chronicle ignores is FM 812 under the airport heading towards Del Valle. FM 812 is a collection of food trucks morphing into brick and mortar on the stretch under the airport between 183 and the Bastrop County Border. Food trucks morph into brick and mortar restaurants the way that trailer homes morph into real houses. The owners carefully save their pennies and as financial circumstances permit, they gradually add improvements. They add a garden. They add covered areas. They put more solid facilities in the trailer itself. Every month or every few months they upgrade a component. Then one day, they can look at what they have accomplished. They no longer have a tin can on wheels. They have a lasting durable residence they can call their own. FM 812 has about twenty five or thirty Mexican or Central American entrepreneurs who are doing this with their food trucks - turning them into real restaurants. Some of these kitchens are producing amazing food. * * * Ceviche Love is one of the stars of this new movement. It is in an improvised food court with three other food trucks. All of the food trucks get business. (The smells coming out of Ceviche Love's pollo asado neighbor are utterly fantastic.) But Ceviche Love is the star of the show, with people pouring into the restaurant nonstop throughout the afternoon. Its star status is well deserved. This is a great great great seafood truck. * * * Cold fish dishes are what the truck is known for. But the hot fish dishes command serious respect as well. They do ceviches, cocteles, botanas, aguachiles, cold seafood tostadas, cechichies, and their own custom seasoned raw oysters. They offer many variations within those categories. *** I had the shrimp coctele and sampled a green aguachile. The shrimp coctele was simply the best version I have ever had of any kind of shrimp cocktail. This includes both the Yankee version with chili sauce and horseradish and the Mexican version with tomatoes and chiles. I was madly and totally in love. The green aguachile was perfectly wonderful but nothing could compare with my shrimp coctele. *** On a day of ordering way too much food, I also did the fried mojarra while my carnivorous partner in crime did the fried tilapia. The fried tilapia eater was ecstatic. IMHO, the tilapia was a nice version of your basic fried fish. (I would order it happily). The mojarra was really really interesting eating. It was grilled rather than fried. This is a whole flat fish (a small one). It is one of the tinier dishes on the menu. Grooves are cut into the fish, the way Southeast Asians cut grooves into fried fish You eat oblong slices of grilled fish right off the bone doing both sides. The house provides chili oil to put on the fish. You can find a vast library of hot sauces at the ordering window - using a wide variety of peppers and packing a wide variety of heat. I recommend picking one of the bottled sauces over the chili oil default option. With a good Mexican hot sauce on the mojarra, this is fine fine eating. *** In the department of physical plant improvements, there are two that are worthy of note. Ceviche Love has purchased a small house trailer and converted it into a cantina. They only have a beer license for now but they heavily promote their micheladas. I had to work that day, so I couldn't drink. But just about everyone else around us was having micheladas - with the occasional traditionalist holding out for plain beer. I suspect the micheladas are pretty good. They also have turned their eating area into a covered garden. You sit in the shade underneath nice lattice work. The traffic on 812 could be a million miles away. It is a nice place to wile away an afternoon, *** The one improvement the restaurant could use is an upgrade on the bathroom facilities. The four restaurants share three porta-potties in the back. All indications are that the porta-potty company is not doing the maintenance that you are supposed to get when you sign one of those rental deals. The owners may have an issue with the porta-potty company ... but I hope they just can find a nicer set of arrangements. If nature is distracting you, there is a gas station across the street - and a major supermarket behind the gas station. I recommend you use one of the more established facilities. ************** But you didn't drive down to 812 to find a world class bathroom. You drove down for amazing fish. This is really really amazing fish. Ceviche Love gets an absolutely top endorsement. A completely first rate establishment. read more

A hidden gem! My boyfriend took me here to try the aquachile verde. It was fresh, tangy, spicy, and appetizing! The shrimp ceviche was sweet, refreshing, and filling. So far all the campechana I've had in Austin have been whack. This place it was fire! Oysters, octopus, scallops and shrimp was packed into the cup. It was delicious and for about 17 bucks worth the price. I literally licked the cup empty. Everything tasted fresh. My partner got shrimp tacos he saw on their instagram and it looked exactly like the photos. Which you know for instagram places sometimes what you get is so different from the photos. We ordered an agua which was only 3 bucks for the large. It was a little watered down but tasted good still. I usually water them down anyway if they're too sugary or strong. Everything price wise was affordable for what we got. Food came out super fast as well. We've been working down the road at Tesla so it's conveniently located and there's a huge seating area. Oh man I'm so glad I made the drive out to check this place out. We got a mix ceviche with fish and octopus, fish tacos, and a massive pineapple agua frescas. Before I even get to the seafood, let me just say that this might be the best agua Fresca in town...no lie. Not only does it taste incredibly fresh, it's full of pineapple flavor and bits of pineapple floating around. The large is a massive portion at just a few bucks. Now the seafood. Superb. The fish tacos were some of the best in Austin. I normally don't like corn tortilla but the fish and toppings were able to make me forget all about it. Similar to the drink, the portion is huge - three massive tacos. The ceviche is of course a must have as well. He gives you a stupid amount of fish and octopus - I literally couldn't finish. So many options and the prices are affordable, especially for the size of the portions!! We got the shrimp ceviche, pulpo tostada and fresh fish tacos...best fish tacos I have ever had hands down and the ceviche and pulpo was just as good as when we had it in Mexico City two years ago. Giant portions, all for $27! Plus they had GIANT micheladas for $8 that you can pick up from the bar in the back of the patio. Must try this spot out and its worth the drive. Seems to be the only sinaloense style ceviche in Austin. As a So Cal transplant I was looking for a spot to fill that void and ceviche love did not disapoint. We had alot of things but my favorite was the coktel with the shrimp cooked and raw shrimp and the pulpo. Next best were the oysters preparados and the tostada mixta. The taco governadores also hit the spot. The only thing that didnt live up to the hype was the tostada de callo de hachas (Scallop). The actual scallop was fresh and bo complaints there but the sauce it was in was not too flavorful. I wouldve enjoyed then more as a ceviche de callo or with the aguachile sauce. No big deal tho just threw the callo in the cocktail and called it a day. Will definently be going back and would reccomend! read more

Phenomenal food!! Don't let the menu intimidate you because it's in Spanish, there is a picture menu also. In addition the staff all speak English and are very helpful! I've been here twice and both times were amaze-balls!! Each plate has its own different flavor about it that makes it great. OMG Y'ALL! This ceviche food truck just south of the airport but definitely off the beaten path is so worth seeking out! They offer a wide variety of ceviche and it ALL looks amazing!! I found the most cost effective way to try more than one variety was to order a tostada; I was hungry so I ordered two, and the portion was perfect for the size of my appetite! The young male attendant who helped me spoke fluent English and Spanish, and was SO helpful. I asked him about his favorite ceviche and he recommended the Mixta (shrimp, fish, tomato + cucumber) which was the best of the two! I also tried the Camaron y Pulpo (shrimp + octopus) which was also fresh and delicious, but I preferred the over all flavor of the Mixta - I think because everything was cut into smaller pieces which allowed citrus to deeply marinate all the ingredients a little more. I can't wait to come back and try the Aguachile and the Mango ceviche - both look absolutely delicious! If you're a ceviche fan you MUST check this spot out! read more
