Oh my goodness, I don't even know where to start! My boyfriend picked out this place and I LOVED it! We arrived around 7PM. It was a bit dark but we could definitely tell how cute and adorable this place was from the outside! The Victorian style architecture, the details, and the decorations around the house were phenomenal! The dining room, living room and even the restrooms were all filled with an antique feel furniture, books, etc. I loved the details on the door hands to the door hinges. My boyfriend was in awe of all the working sliding door hinges as they were older style - but definitely new. The breakfast was amazing - as I believe Josh cooked for us. I was stuffed! Even the breakfast service was delicious as Josh and Miriam joined us for a morning conversation as well~ The next morning, we went around the house to have a better look and you can definitely tell they put in a lot of work! Inside the living room is an old photo of how the house looked. And if you see it now - it looks exactly the same! Their yard looks amazing to have a cup of coffee/tea in and even have a little train area in the back! They also have a cat who is very friendly. (The cat is not allowed indoors FYI.) Overall, we LOVED this place and is definitely a place to stay at! This has so far been the BEST bread & breakfast place I have ever stayed at. Lovely vegan breakfast including fabulous muffins from Sweet Life, fresh fruit, juice, strong coffee, and a great tofu scramble. Our host was charming, offered many suggestions for dining around town, and delighted in telling us about the garden he has put considerable work into (including a sheltered, enclosed "playground" for the indoor kitties who reside in the hosts' private apartment. Had a great weekend at this 'hidden' gem in Eugene. Jack was very friendly and great about answering all of our questions on the history of the house and the objects inside of it. The Monet bedroom was comfortable and has a beautiful bathroom. Take advantage of the little patio just outside of the library. This place is awesome. Very cute and very clean. The garden is perfect to sit and relax in. Josh and Miriam are very nice and attentive. Breakfast was something new, fresh and different every morning. You definitely leave the table full and ready to start your day... or ready to go back to your cozy room and nap. They have a little pantry with homemade cookies (in the pelican), coffee maker, hot water for a variety of good teas, cold bottles of water and fruit. There is a common room upstairs with puzzles, games and a laptop along with a little terrace to sit and watch the neighborhood goings on. There are also fans and smart TVs in the bedroom. Parking is on the street and is ample and safe. I would love to come back to Eugene solely to stay here again. read more

Great place! Classic architecture. Beautifully furnished. The accommodations are spotless, cozy, and include the modern amenities of a nice hotel. It's located in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to all highways and a few blocks from a lovely park. I've traveled a lot and the C'est la Vie definitely stands up to expensive hotels. read more

We spent two delightfully restful nights at the C'est La Vie Inn while in Eugene visiting family last weekend. What a surprise to find out that our gracious hosts, Josh and Miriam, were actually the new owners who had purchased the property from Jack and Anne-Marie only last month! Long time neighborhood residents, they had admired the beautiful historic house for years, and when it came up for sale, they jumped at the opportunity to make it theirs. Both my wife and I were very impressed by their natural, easygoing hospitality, attention to detail and knowledge of the area. Josh took us to the Matisse room, where he had placed a vase of fresh carnations, and showed us the antique soaking tub in the spacious private bath. The king size bed was among the most comfortable we had ever experienced, and was exactly what we needed after a long day of airport aggravation. Our room was immaculate, quiet and decorated tastefully in period style without trying to look like a Victorian antique shop. Breakfast was sausage and scrambles with crispy hash browns, served with fresh fruit and a muffin. Delicious, and not overly rich. December in Eugene can be rather cold and damp, so we didn't get to spend much time wandering around the grounds, but from what we could see of the garden plantings, there will be a lot of color come spring. We stayed in the Casablanca suite for 2 nights during our Oregon honeymoon roadtrip; one of the nights we used a LivingSocial deal. The room itself was wonderful and very cozy! Breakfast tasted wonderful both days. Our issues: The Wifi was horribly slow The first morning our breakfast was delivered half an hour late, at which time I had to run off to make my massage appointment The second morning we were expecting our breakfast to be delivered to the suite as it had been the first morning, but we were told an hour and a half later that breakfast is only delivered the first morning? We didn't know why this wasn't explained to us earlier but it was a little annoying and confusing. Other than those issues, we had a cozy and enjoyable stay. read more

Holy moly! This place is amazing! Just wow. From the moment the innkeeper opened the door, he was kind, polite and the cookies didn't hurt! We had a long journey and he showed us around then to our rooms. I felt at home in a old Victorian. The breakfast! Oh the breakfast! It was delicious, filling and healthy. My husband and I spent 3 nights in this fabulous Victorian house, and everything was absolutely perfect - from the beauty of the house and garden, to the delicious breakfasts, and the welcoming hospitality of the owners. Room We stayed in the Monet room, which was adorably decorated. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows, and good temperature controls. The bathroom was well-appointed with items we might need, such as plenty of shampoo, lotion, cotton balls, etc. The room and the neighborhood was very quiet, I slept well. Outside This property is located in a quiet neighborhood. The extensive grounds were professionally and pleasingly landscaped, with nice places to sit and relax. My favorite was the water fountain, where honey bees could be seen taking a sip of water. Host Jack was a gentlemanly and organized host. Upon our arrival, he arranged for fresh cookies to be baked, as the cookie jar had run empty. Overall, we enjoyed our short stay very much, and felt welcome while there. We are B&B hounds, having stayed at them around the world, we always have high expectations and C'est La Vie did not disappoint! Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! Did I say wonderful? This cute french style home located in Eugene, OR was one of the best places I have ever stayed. The couple that run the place have everything decorated perfectly. The room was HUGE and felt like home. Everything was clean and comfortable. The room was very modern but with an old world flare that just made the whole experience so much fun! The breakfast was delicious and they were very generous with their offerings of cookies, coffee, tea and bottled water. You must check out their miniature train set in the beautifully decorated garden. My husband I stayed here one night while on our honeymoon but we wish we would of stayed longer. This is a fascinating little B&B in Eugene. We stayed here on our last night of a cross country road trip coming all the way from SC. We had two dogs and a cat with us, and we stayed in the Casablanca suite. The home is immaculate. From the intricately detailed exterior craftsmanship, to the perfect landscaping, to the antique furnishings inside, you can tell that great care has been taken in perfecting the experience. The Casablanca suite was really cozy and comfortable, but large, with a nice jacuzzi tub and a gas fireplace. It even had heated floor tiles in the bathroom, which was very nice because the temperature was in the 20s while we were there. Jack was a great host. Anne Marie was out of town while we visited. They also have four cats, and we got to meet one of them which vaguely resembled Grumpy cat of Internet fame. Great stay, we will try to come back in the future! read more

What a wonderful treat to stay at this bed and breakfast with its beautiful detailed renovations, gorgeous antiques, and exquisite Victorian gardens! Jack obviously really enjoys entertaining his guests with stories and information.
