The staff and workers at this shelter are fantastic, they work hard at finding forever homes for the pets. I was very impressed when we put in an application, they immediately called our references before we even made it home to call them and let them know to expect a call. We knew what to expect with Dakota (aka Yodi), they knew she had been a stray in Brady and told us it would take time; just be patient and we'd be ok. Dakota is a wonderful addition to our family. I am so glad we looked at their facility first!!

Our fur baby Chip :) He has such a huge personality and we're so happy we found him!

You can tell CTSPCA truly cares about all the animals that come through their door and that they're well taken care of. It's a small animal shelter that's sort of secluded but they have a wonderful small selection of dogs available for adoption. The staff is very friendly and are knowledgeable on each pet and their history and personality. We fell in love with our fur baby as soon as we saw him. There was an immediate connection as we were able to go into his kennel and play fetch with him and just interact before filling out the application to adopt him. They take two applications per pet and it isn't a "first come, first serve" adoption. They approve the adoption based off of which family is going to be the best match for the dog. You fill out the application, answer questions that they have in place to figure out if you'll be a good match and then they ask for three references as sort of a background check which I completely appreciate and feel more shelters should do. My boyfriend and I were stressing out the entire week waiting to here back from them and praying that no one else put in an application - the waiting to hear back is the hardest part by far because there is a chance that they will get back to you and tell you that you're not a good fit. Our adoption went through and our fur baby Chip has brought so much joy to our lives. He's so playful, likes to go on adventures with us and his favorite hobby is to cuddle which is a huge plus! They even provided us with a bag a food when we came to pick him up. His personality has grown so much since being in his forever home. I wish we would have found him sooner. In the future if we do decide to get him a buddy we will be getting him one from CTSPCA. Thanks CTSPCA for giving us our baby boy!

My baby. :) Presto, now named Jinx.

I volunteer here, so my review may be a bit biased, but I have adopted a dog from here as well. I decided to volunteer here because a) they were one of the closest shelters to me and b) they are no-kill so I thought I wouldn't be tempted to rescue any animals. So much for that. My adoption experience here was much better than any I have ever had. They actually review the applications and will call your vet and references. They make sure your current pets are up to date on vaccinations and that you will be a good fit for the animal you are adopting. They schedule an exit interview (and meet and greet with your current dog if applicable) and go over all the animal's vet records with you. I was even given a small bag of dog food for my new pup. They were very honest about my dog's past illnesses and treatments. The volunteers that were there (particularly Desiree) knew quite a bit about all of the dogs' different personalities, which really helped me find a dog that my current dog would get along with. It's been a few months and my 2 dogs are still getting along well. I'm so happy to have another four-legged family member.

I'm sharing this as a genuine concern for animal welfare and transparency…read more I've noticed this individual adopting animals from local shelters while simultaneously requesting donations and then selling the animals at retail-level prices. That raises serious ethical questions. Animal shelters exist to place pets into safe, permanent homes--not to supply inventory for resale. If money is being exchanged beyond standard adoption fees, the public deserves clarity on where funds are going and whether shelters are aware. Donations should support care, vetting, and rescue efforts--not personal profit. If this is a legitimate rescue operation, transparency, nonprofit status, and itemized use of funds should be clearly provided. Otherwise, this feels misleading to donors and unfair to families who adopt in good faith. I hope proper oversight is in place to protect the animals and the community.Donations solicited under the appearance of animal rescue while animals are sold at retail prices.

I used to work at this petsmart and have personally seen some of the people who harass her.FYI, people you have no right to expect a cat just on the fact you like it. Many times I've seen people complain because Cathy would not wake up the kittens for them to play with. Kittens can not be disturbed from deep sleep or it can really mess up the developmental growth. Cathy can be a bit bold and strong headed but she has seen where these animals have came from and some sadly do come back to her. She is just trying to prevent the poor cats from going through the re homing cycle. Also, be honest on the application process; if your apartment does not allow animals don't lie and say they do.

I filled out the 3-4 page application and was told Cathy would call me. 5 days later I went into Pet Smart again to find out where I was in the process. I was told AGAIN that Cathy would call me to interview me regarding the cat. If not that night, definitely the next day. 3 days later I went in AGAIN, only to find out they had adopted the cat to someone else without even calling me. Am I disappointed about not getting the cat? Of course. However, I think its just common courtesy to let someone know. Why did I have to drive to PetSmart 3 times to find out what was happening? With the huge amount of cats that need homes, why does Catz Jazz feel like they can just waste people's time like this? Needless to say, I would not recommend adopting a cat from this agency. There are plenty others out there that understand the idea of customer service.

They gave me updates and I appreciated the postcards/Facebook posts about many cat's well being. When I went to pick him up, I was impressed by how clean the place was, considering how my cats and finches were present. My cat's room was very clean, with a big window, the jungle gym setup, and a loft bed. The kitty litter had added fiber pellets, which I hope he liked since he hates sawdust litter. They gave me back everything that I left at dropoff, plus a toy. My cat was very calm, coming by his own free-will to greet the handler. To me, these were all green flags and I will highly recommend Whiskers to anyone needing a safe place for their kittens and cats to stay for a short (or long) spell. They know cats better!

The amount of money they claim to have spent getting one of their dogs back from it's owner is inconsistently varies quite a bit. They have quite a few fundraising pages and are quick to pepper the internet with requests for donations. Their interaction with me was extremely suspect. I saw their dog, Nolan, on petfinder. When I emailed to ask about his availability, heartworm status and age, I was told he has to be adopted with their dog named, Lulu and I did not receive an answer about his current HW status. I asked for more information about Lulu. I found out that both dogs had been heartworm +, but Cindy Marabito wouldn't tell me if they had their vaccinations or had been cleared by a vet after their "holistic heartworm treatment." There was or is some kind of messy legal/custody battle over Lulu. Cindy wouldn't tell me if it had been sorted out. I had to ask: 4 times if they were fixed. I never got an answer, but Lulu's petfinder page now says she is spayed. 4 times if the legal problems with Lulu's custody were resolved. I still haven't gotten an answer. 3 times if they were now heartworm free. Finally Cindy claimed that Nolan was healed with raw and herbal diet/treatments. So I asked if she had verified with a vet that the treatments were successful. She refused to answer that too. 2 times if they were vaccinated, I never got an answer, but Lulu's petfinder page now says she is UTD on vaccines. Cindy sent this: "Both are raw fed and homeopathically treated, so would need to continue that lifestyle. Nolan was hw positive when we got him and totally cured with herbal..a raw fed dog treated with herbal will not become infected with hw or other parasites or disease..take a look at our website .... Health Page. It's amazing..none of our dogs go to conventional vets or ever get sick, get fleas, cancer, etc." I'm certainly not against raw or herbal, but this all just sounds like a scam or wingnut on the loose.
