They both tested negative and they both need written prescriptions because they don't carry the brand I use. All of which they knew when I made the appointment and failed to mention. Now I have to wait until the end of the week to come back. Always something here. I don't recommend this business at all. Last time when I called and talked to the vet about being charged for a fecal that wasn't done and I wasn't told but was charged for it. He was rude and accused me of lying about not being told or given a cup to bring back in. Very bad customer service from a vet himself.

We got an appointment with Dr. Pruitt for Friday, June 13 at 3 pm. Since we were new, we were told the appointment was going to be an hour long. We arrived 10 minutes early and checked in. Got called into the room around 3 pm. Intake took 10 minutes. We waited another 20 minutes until an MA checked in on us to tell us that there was an emergency and it wouldn't be long until Dr. Pruitt came. Waited another 10 minutes (be mindful that it was 3:41 pm already); Dr. Pruitt came in at 3:43 pm. We finished at 4 pm, waited for our paperwork, and paid at 4:06 pm. The whole appointment, besides the waiting portion, took a good 20-30 minutes, so I don't understand why the appointment was supposed to be 1 hour long. Honestly, not much to say... other than the fact that we should not have been waiting that long at all! It was a waste of time and if I knew we were going to be waiting that long, I would've rescheduled or gone somewhere else. Pricing- $94 for annual bird check up $36.60 for nail trimmings $41 for bird fecal $114 for gram staining, which we will do once we get results from bird fecal test. Our total came out to be $174... Overall, if we didn't wait that long, I would've given 4-5 stars, but because it was also our first visit, it honestly could've gone a lot better. Obviously emergencies happen, but it could've been brought to our attention that the waiting period may be a bit longer.

They have been amazing. Vaccinations given, senior lab draw completed. Meds prescribed. She has been feeling so much better and her feisty puppy is starting to shine through again. Still working on determination of what's going on with check but the swelling is reduced and I can now see a mass. They said bring her now we will work her in!! Just like that! No fuss no muss! One thing I would have appreciated is a bit more transparency around the cost of the various add-on services they offered. They definitely presented everything in a helpful--not pushy--way, but knowing the prices up front would have made decision-making easier. Recently, I paid in advance for lab work for my dog. When I returned to drop off the sample, I was told that the order had "expired" and that I would need to pay again for the analysis. That didn't sit right with me--if I already paid for the test, the clinic should honor that and complete the service without charging me twice. Situations like this make it hard to trust that clients are being treated fairly or that their pets' care is being handled with consistency and professionalism. Unfortunately, this experience has left a sour taste, and with my past experiences this year i think I'll be looking for a new veterinarian moving forward. I hope the clinic can improve its communication and billing practices so other pet owners don't run into the same frustration.

It seemed like there was always another test, treatment, or add-on being pushed, even for routine appointments. I understand recommendations are part of veterinary care, but the constant pressure made the experience uncomfortable and expensive. Overall, I wouldn't personally recommend Buttercup Veterinary Hospital based on my experience. We've raised German Shepherds for years, so we're very familiar with the breed and common skin and allergy issues. My son's GSD is currently visiting, and I stopped by Buttercup Veterinary Hospital simply trying to purchase more of the medicated shampoo they had previously recommended for itchy skin. I was denied because my own GSD, who was a patient there and was ultimately put down at their clinic, had passed away, so I was told I was no longer considered a current patient. Losing my dog was heartbreaking, and the interaction felt cold and unnecessarily transactional. Unfortunately, that experience reinforced my overall feeling that this clinic focuses more on upselling appointments and services. Find a vet who doesn't shut people out when their pet passes away.

We knew that there wasn't much they could do but we had hoped they would try. We had also hoped for better service and bedside manner. When he arrived, the receptionist said "oh this is your first time here fill out this paperwork." - it's not our first time In fact we are long time patients for all three of our dogs. Then- instead of helping him or offering to let him wash his hands which were covered in blood they shoved paperwork in his face. Then- they proceeded to pressure him to make decisions on cremation when he stated he did not want that. No condolences- no comfort just payment options. I am so disappointed with his experience and the way the animal hospital handled this and our family. If you have a true emergency and need help- I would not advise going here. We will be switching our care somewhere else. We also have been way over charged for vaccines as well as being made to wait excessive amounts of time for appointments we show up to on time- and will be transferring care. On top of all of this we received a generic sympathy email instead of a phone call for our loss and our experience. Truly terrible and sad that this was our experience.

The staff were generally helpful and friendly during the first visit but my dog had a little anxiety the first time and was unable to stay calm enough to get his vaccines. So they prescribed some gabapentin and trazaodone to calm him down. They charged about $30 for the drugs, which is way overpriced but fair enough, I took up half an hour of their time. The next visit went fine - the vet really didn't say too much until we asked him so questions. We had to go back a third time to get the leptospirosis booster. Unfortunately, my dog's anxiety sprung up again and the staff could not get the vaccine in him. So they recommended the gabapentin/trazaodone again. I asked if I could get a prescription to fill it at a Petco or Petsmart. They said they could only fill it in house and it was $42 for three portions. As these pills were like 17 cents each online, I asked if I could a prescription to fill it outside. I was told that it was the vet's policy that they could only fill the pills inside. I ended up getting the booster elsewhere (without any need for drugs) and won't be back.
