We hired them for Petyr, (new kitten) wellness check, as well as Fanger and Sooki (2 adult cats) wellness checkups plus rabies updates. Tamie suggested starting the booster shots for the kitten, which we added for his safety. Totally worth it. Everything went as per usual. But my longest owned cat has some difficulty. A neighbor organized a group meeting as this was our first mobile VET experience and we didn't know what to expect and I had the first appointment of day. Summary, highly recommend this service and encourage you to give it a try for your VET needs. Dr Hunt was great. Her mobile van is awesome and state of the art. She was able to perform routine blood work, order prescriptions, give shots, did the routine annual exam on site. My Great Danes are usually nervous about VET visits but she left the door open and they sat down and were relaxed and well behaved; mostly due to the comforting atmosphere and skill with the animals by the staff. Dr Hunt gave all the requested services, advised me on some new considerations that are relevant to the area, we recently moved from Kansas, and we finished everything up with treats for the Danes. She followed up the visit with an email providing additional details about some basic care and concerns for the animals and a personal thank you. Great team! My dog is a hurricane Harvey rescue from APA and could not handle the vet visits there or at another vet even with tranquilizers + anit-anxiety pills. I have had HousePaws taking care of my guys's vaccinations and check ups for the last year and a half. They are always on time, are very courteous when entering/exiting, and they are very patient with my nervous dog. After a couple of visits he has warmed up to them and shots/taking blood are much easier. The visit fee is worth the convenience. I will never take my cats to a brick and mortar veterinarian again! My cats always get really agitated when they have to go for a car ride (I don't know why, they are just that way). So by the time they get to the veterinarian's office they are already agitated and scared; then the smells of all the other animals and being held down by strangers makes everything worse. HousePaws Austin is THE solution! I scheduled an appointment with HousePaws so that my cats could get a routine examination (it's been a couple of years). Tamie and Melissa came to my apartment, hung out for about 10 minutes letting the cats get adjusted to them, then started the examinations. Of course my cats got a little irritated getting shots, but because they were in the comfort of their own home with Tammie and Melissa, who had taken the time to let the cats get adjusted to them, my cats were back to their normal, cuddly selves within 5 minutes. HousePaws Austin's fees are very fair and competitive! Especially since, I don't have to block out a lot of time out of my day, wrangle cats into their cages, drive (usually in traffic) to the veterinarian's office, sit in the waiting room, wait to be examined, then put two pissed off cats back in their cages, and drive home. Instead, HousePaws came to me, examined my cats, and finished all in under 45 minutes! Best of all, Tamie and Melissa are kind, courteous, and very professional! What a wonderful service! My husband I have been taking care of a feral cat for 17 years now and she finally got tame enough to come inside and let us touch her. I called HousePaws to come by and give her the first vet visit of her life (well, aside from the time we trapped and had her spayed 17 years ago). They found she had a dramatically elevated thyroid, which they had suspected, and they prescribed an affordable medication that she now takes. Omg!! These lovely ladies saved my life. I have 2 crazy cats that needed rabies vaccination. No matter what I could not get them into carriers to take to the vet. Then stopping at a shop by my house I see their van in the parking lot. After a brief conversation they finished their previous appointment. Came to my house. Corralled my unruly cats. Dr. Hunt and Judy came out today to help me help my lil orange dude, Milo. I love Dr. Hunt! It was my first time with HousePaws and she really took her time to answer all my questions (I had a lot - Milo is a complicat) and get a good plan to move forward. She explained his previous lab results more completely than they've ever been explained to me before and now I actually know what to look for, which is very important with a senior kitty with health issues. This is the first time in weeks that I feel really good about things and that my cat's doctor has a handle on where things are and what the next steps will be. She had explained her fees to me in advance, and they were super reasonable. As I was writing out the check I was saying, Well that's clearly not enough, can I tip you? And then I felt like a moron because you don't tip your doctor. This was by far the easiest and best vet experience I have ever had. I have several animals, both dogs and cats, and Dr. Hunt was amazing. One of my dogs was having some unexplained issues, and Dr. Hunt was thorough and took time to figure out what was wrong. I could not be happier with House Paws! My 14 year old cantankerous kitty does NOT like getting in a crate and riding in the car. The vet and assistant arrived promptly, answered ALL my questions, even called the old vet to get my cat's latest lab results. Oh, and they did an ultrasound on my kitty right in my living room! She and Melissa provided great care: so gentle with our guy, and gave a detailed rundown of different causes of his ailment and what our options were. And she was incredibly patient when one of our kittens jumped on her shoulder and proceeded to stay there for much of the exam! Our dog usually HATES going to the vet; a cower-in-the-corner kind of hate. HousePaws was so great with her that by the end of it she was happy as a clam and didn't want to leave. Dr Hunt and her team are amazing. They take the time to settle the animal and care for them top-to-bottom in the gentlest way. Our 100lb pit mix frightens people AND he has a fear of strangers. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Hunt and Melissa. I have a formerly feral cat who is very willing to scratch me to shreds rather than get in a carrier, let alone visit a vet. I was in desperate need of help as our family prepared to fly from Austin to Washington state with our two cats which would include removal from their carriers at the security checkpoint. I couldn't help but envision all the ways this could go wrong. Dr. Hunt was ready and willing to discuss the situation with me right from the start and was very knowledgeable and kind. She made an initial visit and then not only came over the night before our flight to administer the sedative, but again early in the morning the day we flew out to give the cats their second dose and to put them in their harnesses and carriers. I sent an email last night and Dr Hunt and Melissa got me in first thing this morning, which I really appreciated because mobile vets can be booked up weeks in advance. They were prompt and had everything on hand. They were patient with Bigs and very reassuring in his bad condition. They took bloodwork and had results in only a few minutes, and they were able to give him fluids and other medicines he needed. Had my first visit with Dr. Hunt & Melissa and I am in love! Dr. Hunt is incredibly wonderful. She takes out time to fully understand what's going on with your pet and then gives you a breadth of information - everything ranging from what you're doing at home that you can change to what possible medical issues could possibly be the issue based on the symptoms your pet is experiencing. What I love about her is that she'll start by recommending things you can do at home to start eliminating the need for further medical exams. If the things you change don't work, then she dives into next steps - as a person with three cats, this saves me a lot of money. Also knowing all the information she provides helps keep me informed so that I can be more knowledgeable if my other cats run into issues. She was so lovely with the cats. My more skittish cat actually remained quite calm during the exam and I haven't seen him do that with other vets. She even gives them treats which is great! I just had Dr Hunt and Melissa come do a wellness exam and give annual shots to our 2 cats (5 years old). Our cats get extremely stressed out going to our regular vet, so I tried this as an alternative and it was great. The cats were still a little unhappy, but they were much more calm than they normally are when I have to load them in their carriers, haul them to the vet in the car, and sit with them in the waiting and/or exam room. I definitely would recommend Dr. Hunt and Melissa. Dr. Hunt explained information well, and Melissa handled my cat, who was making a lot of 'yoga moves', very well.
