Abdu is fantastic. He always does a great job with my suits and is a master of his craft. I highly recommend using him.

I do not recommend any woman go here. Abdu is extremely inappropriate. He continuously told me he loved me and tried kissing my cheeks. When I tried on the pants that needed tailoring he kept squeezing my waist complimenting how skinny I was. He told me not to come back if I got fat. He held my hand to help me off the of the platform. As I proceeded to walk toward the fitting room he would not let go of my hand. When I turned my back to walk away from him he put my hand on his private area. I was MORTIFIED. I tried to leave as fast as possible. He kept telling me to come in and visit him. This tailor does an incredible job. The craftsmanship is perfect. He was careful to get exact measurements and clearly communicate about the work I needed done. He was extremely polite and respectful and was even able to finish the work in just a few days' time. Ladies -- please do not go here. I wish I had read the other woman's review before I went. I saw the overall four stars and did not read any of the comments. I dropped off my clothes on a Monday (that is when I met him), he said he could have my pants ready for me the next day. He called me Tuesday to get them. I went in and he kept telling me he loved me and tried to kiss me? I was so taken aback I first thought he was trying to kiss my cheek like European style kisses. But then it kept happening, and I realized he was trying to kiss my lips and I turned my cheek to him. Then I was trying to get out of there and he asked why i was in "such a rush". I told him Grandpa, Grandma and my daughter were in the car waiting for me. Then he grabbed my arm and just held my arm and would not let me go/leave. I was so uncomfortable and mortified. He finally let me leave, and I rushed to my car and he followed me out. I told my dad as soon as I got in the car and he pointed out that the guy had followed me outside. He had three more pieces of clothing of mine though. He called me the next day and told me they were ready so I sent my husband to go get them. I have been a customer for 2 decades.When I purchased a business suit, the sleeves and the skirt both needed shortening and the wais, taking in. Ikeft Abful'sv shop un a suit that looked cystom made for me. After being out iof state for5 years I was greeted like an old friend. When my mother-the-groom gien. needed alterations. I chose to brung it ti Abdul instead of use the bridal seamstress. ( who certainly had sugnificant experience with gowns.)Seeing hat I was in a wheelchair at a relatively young age, he had tears in his eyes, our relationship was still that personal.Abdul is gets busy. I've gone here 3-4 times. The tailor's work is decent, but he takes until the last day to get started on your items. On one of my sessions, my items weren't done by the quoted date (10 business days to hem 2 pants), so he was late. What really turned me off was that the tailor was saying "you're so beautiful", etc. during my fitting and insisted on giving me tight hugs at the beginning and end of each session. That was completely gross and unprofessional. I will never go here again since there are so many other decent tailors around Reading which I know wouldn't act like that EVER. read more

Abdu hemmed my pants in one hour! I needed a pair of pants hemmed for my son for a funeral on Sunday. I went to Central Custom Tailoring and told him my situation and if he could please get if done by Saturday afternoon. He told me to come back in an hour, which I did and they were finished. The first time I came here I got excellent service, an excellent tailor job, and an excellent price. The second time? He barely altered my pants, didn't do what I asked for and I was still charged the pretty steep price. I tried to tell him I was unhappy and explain what I had actually wanted (which was to slim the pants), but he contested and claimed "that isn't done". It most certainly can be. Abdu does amazing work, and you can tell he knows every trick of the trade. He took an ill-fitting suit and made it look perfect on me. He is a true gentleman in every way possible. As some have said below me the one catch is Abdu is not cheap. If you walk in expecting to pay what you pay at your local Chinese run dry cleaners, you'll be blown away. For him to fix a sleeve, let the pants out, and take the waist in on the jacket, with the typical hem job cost $173. I had a dress for my son's wedding hemmed. The owner had it for 3 weeks. When I came to pick it up on the due date it was not ready. He did it the next day but when I picked it up he refused to give me a copy of my receipt. He was very rude to me-condescending and arrogant. He may be good at his skill but he is very difficult to work with. The dress was hemmed correctly but overall it was a very stressful experience!! read more

Abdul has decades of experience, and in today's economy his prices were better than I expected - he literally saved two pairs of expensive jeans by making the holes on the back pockets disappear. Low prices and excellent customer service skills are his strong suit and so is his creativity - he created a custom dress for my 8-year old daughter. The process was painless, we brought in a picture from the Internet and enough material. My daughter felt like a designer/fashion model. She is attending her grandfather's 60th birthday and an age appropriate sophisticated dress is a must. We have it, thanks to the able hands of Abdul. read more

DO NOT GO HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. As a 33 year-old professional working in financial services I was in need of a good tailor and started to bring suits and even some old winter coats that never fit exactly right to this conveniently located tailor off of Main Street in Reading, MA. The suit came out pretty good (overpriced but not a bad job) so I decided to bring in a favorite wool winter jacket. I paid the owner upon dropping off and sizing the coat and that's where the trouble started. When I went back in a few weeks the owner was adamant that I did not pay him. He was incredibly unprofessional (keeps his transaction records in a little notebook all done by hand) which led to the problem in my estimation. He refused to provide me with my tailored winter jacket and when I presented him with the receipt he again refused stating it wasn't complete. (One of the weirdest things that's ever happened to me). Ultimately I had to call my credit card company and have a new statement sent out to the house. After returning from a business trip I presented my bank statements to the owner who said nothing, no apology of any kind and handed me my jacket. I just wouldn't go here if you can avoid it. There are plenty of other small business tailors and small business owners to give your money to - this guys not one of them. read more

I am so happy to have found a real tailor nearby. Abdu is one of a dying breed of professional tailors who really know what they're doing. Abdu has a wonderful pedigree, having worked as a head tailor at places like Neiman Marcus and Burberry. Fair warning, you get what you pay for. A good tailor is not cheap, nor should they be. If you're expecting to pay what you might at your local dry cleaners, you'll be a bit shocked. What you're paying for with professionals like Abdu is someone who can take a cheap suit and make it look like a million bucks on you. read more

Abdu did a great job on my daughters romper. We needed very last minute hemming on a silky material and he was able to get it done by the next day. He was about an hour off in timing, which caused some stress, but in the end I was very happy with the work and we made it to the event on time. BEWARE! This guy Abdul did a god job hemming my designer jeans but when it came to my daughter's communion dress he was terrible! He had made arrangements on at least 10 different occasions for us to come in for fittings. When we got there he hadn't worked on the dress and sent us away EVERY time. I could go on and on about how furious I was with his customer service. In the end my husband had to go down there and take the dress from him to be finished by someone else...days before her communion! Would NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!! read more

I had an alteration done here for the first time and I was very impressed. I told Abdu that I'd read a favorable customer review and he said modestly, "I hope all of my customers are happy with my work". I had brought in a new pair of pants to have the hem altered. He gently suggested I might want the seat taken in as well, and he was right to suggest it. He did the work quickly and perfectly. I'll get right to the point. Abdu is like finding a needle in a haystack. He's a dying breed. His work is extraordinary. He has a gift that is almost impossible to find anymore. The old saying is true. What makes a suit or dress is the fit. Period. If fit or fashion is not your thing then have Macy's or Men's Wearhouse do your tailoring. These people can't even measure you correctly. How are they suppose to tailor you? I just picked up another suit I had him tailor and I'm blown away at the job he did. It's perfect. And I laugh at the reviews saying he's pricey. Depending on the amount of altercations you need you can spend over $100 anywhere else and get a horrible job. You get what you pay for. In addition, Abdu is professional, friendly and a great guy who takes a lot of pride in what he does. Again, there are very few tailors left with this skill. Thanks Abdu. I had high expectations from the reviews. I tried to have a few items tailored three times. Calling ahead each time. Unfortunately the owner/tailor works another job and leaves a note informing you to come back at a certain time. Unfortunately, in my case this was pushed back 1-2 hours and did not work for my schedule as I work and was told by the owner to come anytime between 8-5:30pm. Additionally, the price given to me was twice the price quoted elsewhere. This left me uncomfortable. I was also uncomfortable with the rushed demeanor of the owner and the lack of knowledge with women's bridal wear, although I was informed when I called that he had knowledge of bridal wear. He was rather agitated with me and tossed a garmet at me when I stated I was uncomfortable with a price quoted at $400. I am aware tailoring can be expensive, but my dress did not need much and I had been quoted much less before. I went to a bridal shop and paid $240 instead, and was informed that what I was asking for was simple. What the owner at this shop tried to charge me for was unwarranted...fyi.. When I had mentioned to the owner that I felt he was over charging me he got very upset with me and I did not feel comfortable leaving my dress with him. This is just my experience, maybe better to go to a bridal shop or dress shop. I felt positive going as another reviewer left a glowing review, but again...sometimes bridal causes people to over charge. I hope this helps someone else. read more

My boyfriend had a suit completely altered, We ordered it online and it was at least 1 size too big. Abdu altered it every-which way and it is now his best fitting suit! It is pricey but he did an absolutely incredible job. read more
