Bought a couple of tops that weren't available in petite. Love them, but the sleeves were way too long (I'm 4'10"!). After seeing several mentions on Yelp as well as my town's Facebook page, I brought them into Vito's. It's an old-fashioned, typical tailoring shop. You don't see those much anymore. The owner was super nice and friendly. They did a great job on my tops, and the price was reasonable. Will use again! read more

I've had only excellent experiences here. On my first visit, Vito explained why the alteration I asked for was not a good idea. I respect that he turned away a job because he thought it shouldn't be done. A few months later I brought in a jacket that I wasn't wearing because the 1980's cut had become quite out of style. Vito re-made the shoulders and now I wear it regularly again. Next, I brought in an overcoat to get the sleeves shortened. Because it has a special detail on the sleeves, I brought it first to a high-end tailor downtown. That tailor said he couldn't do it and sent me to a tailor in Watertown. The tailor in Watertown said it would be $300 and would be ready in five months. Vito did it perfectly in three weeks for $80. I will be back. read more

This is as good as it gets for a tailor. Old school talents that are really hard to find nowadays. This isn't just a hem, cuff or button this is full on craftsmanship. My wife needs just about everything altered for work and would go nowhere else. Being new to Melrose 20 years ago it took a while to find him, but she has been a loyal customer for well over a decade. Vito's should be your new favorite tailor shop. I needed a prom dress altered. A friend informed me of this shop's good reputation, though she had not had tailoring done here. This dress had some frilly embellishments I thought would be a problem. Not at all. Quality work, completed on time and reasonable prices. Now I will never go anywhere else for tailoring. read more

He is amazing at his craft! Brought jeans and a skirt there after having a horrible experience with another tailor. Vito has incredible talent and the clothes were altered perfectly! I brought in two more skirts immediately. He took the time to give me an honest assessment of how much altering I could do, advised me about how the skirt might look different and ultimately agreed to try out what I wanted. I'll update the review if they don't turn out well, but based on my past experience with him, I have very high hopes. :-) read more

Will never go to another tailor again, Vito is truly an artist. Loved the work he did so much I went through my closet and brought more pieces. He is always ready when he says he is, just give him a call beforehand. Brought a pretty cheap dress from revolve to him and he treated it like the nicest garment and perfectly altered it and took his time to make sure I was happy with the look of it. I didn't even get my dress hemmed because this man was so rude! Not professional, not welcoming, asked me why I waited so long to arrange to get my dress hemmed, then when I asked for a price quote and didn't agree with it he told me to take my take my business elsewhere and that I wasn't a good customer and wasn't going to be pleased! Hello I wasn't even a customer yet. I am sorry that I want to look nice and make sure that my dress is ready within a reasonable amount of time! I needed my dress hemmed and steamed for a wedding and needed to know when it would be ready and also if I needed to take the dress to be steamed elsewhere. All these questions frustrated him- I guess he is not used to making customers feel comfortable and happy about his work. Oh well! read more

Vito is a class act. I've gotten two suits tailored here and he does a great job. Prices are average, and expect about a week to complete an order. Perhaps if you need your article of clothing sooner he can do the job a little faster. With over 40 years in this location, you don't find someone with this much experience at such a great price. read more
