This was the worst taxi experience I have ever had. The cab itself if a piece of junk and I was choked by fumes my entire ride from Monterey Airport to San Francisco Airport - thanks Monterey Regional for the hospitality, not! The driver himself, Roger Toulgoat, could have cared less that the other passenger and I were about to pass out do to the exhaust fumes. Absolutely ridiculous, do not use this cab company. read more

I called today at 1:45pm for a 2:30 pickup. Long and the short of it is, the driver who was supposed to come did not and they could not reach him. Then starting at about 2:50 a new driver gave a time about 3:10pm pickup. No show,. As of 3:35pm I called the Cab Co and told them to cancel. I missed a doctors appointment and they would have taken me if the driver even got here 45 minutes late. I waited 40 minutes for a pickup the other day. My frank advice is to avoid this company. Maybe it is their Monterey service that is bad. All these cab companies seem to fail about 1/4 of the time. I guess it is the quality of the help. Try Yellow or one of the others. Good luck. These people can stress you out if you let them. read more

Nope. Can't do it. When we moved here, we didn't have a car, and, not knowing any better, used Central Coast Cab when we needed a lift. It was OK. Fast forward a couple of years. We have a car, but didn't want to leave it long-term at the Monterey Airport. So, we called a day in advance, asking them to come get us the next morning. The next morning came, but the cab didn't. When it didn't show after 15 minutes, we called Yellow Cab instead. They had a taxi at our door in about 5 minutes. Never did see the cab we supposedly reserved. They'll never see us in one of their taxis again. read more

The only thing they did right was get me to my destination alive. They told me they would arrive between 30-45 minutes after the ride was requested by my (4 star) hotel. They arrived 1 hour and 15 minutes later. No apology from the driver, who said he couldn't call because he didn't have cell signal. I'm sure he was already late before he got to the point where he lost cell signal south of Carmel. He also had a companion in the front seat. I assume the delay was partly due to picking up his friend so he would have company for the trip. The van was bare-bones uncomfortable with hard vinyl bench seats and a metal platform folded up in front of the side door that banged constantly. Twice as expensive as the Uber ride I enjoyed on the way to Big Sur, and 1% as good. I honestly considered getting out and hitchhiking. read more

Driver took me for a "ride" and tried to bill me $50 for at trip from the airport to the Clement Hotel in Monterey. Trip should cost $20 to $27). He also said he was cash only when we finally arrived at the destination. Do not use this cab company... Hotel said they receive complaints about this company, a well. read more

Yesterday I got cut off twice after being tailgated on Highway 1 while I was driving south at almost 70mph... nuts! We I arrived in Carmel by the Sea, I realized that the cab was still just in front of me... so it's like what they say... weaving in and out of traffic doesn't get you anywhere much faster. read more

Apparently they have an exclusive contract for the Monterey Peninsula Airport. Too bad, since my experience is that they never have enough cabs there when a flight arrives, and you can call them until you're blue in the face, but they won't show up. read more

My wife called these guys for a cab. The guy on the phone was fine, but by the time the cab was supposed to arrive, nothing. A few minutes later, she gets a call from the driver, who didn't speak english. She tried to break down the directions so that even someone who doesn't speak the language would understand, waited for a few minutes and got another call from the driver, who was still lost. At this point she started walking down to the corner and finally got some help... from an off duty Monterey Firefighter. So, Thanks MFD! Central Coast Cab, don't worry, we won't be calling you again. This can company is horrible. I called and scheduled a pick up. It was only 30 minutes from the time I wanted to be picked up but the lady said no prob. My time rolls around and nothing. I call back she says he's on how was it will be another five minutes. I'm a local so nothing takes that long. Five minutes go by and still nothing so I call back. She says the driver is on his way. Ok so now 15 minutes after the scheduled pick up time this fool calls me and leaves a message like uh I think you wanted a cab. No duh Sherlock! Now it's time to pay and this fool pulls out the his phone that uses the app to swipe cards and takes forever doing so. Well I needed them so I could catch a flight and thank god monterey airport is not that big and pretty quick to get thru. Lesson of the story use yellow cab or walk. Dispatch gave the driver the wrong pick-up information, causing him to arrive late. He also went to the wrong address before picking me up because he didn't read the address properly. Then he dropped me off far from the airport main entrance in the pouring rain causing me to get soaked. Pathetic. read more

On the way back from the shopping center didn't even put the clock back. Got back faster than getting there. No longer taxi driver our losing their business to uber. read more

A 7.5 mile trip from Monterey Regional Airport to Carmel Mission Inn cost me $40.00. There was some traffic but it was between 15-20 minutes. I've used taxis in NY City and Denver, never had such a rip off. I will use Uber next time. read more

Central Coast Cab Co Driver in van # 21 Northbound 101(near Blossom Hill - probably going to SJC or SFO) Approximately 7:30AM August 13th, 2012 Driver # 21 needs to visit the local DMV and re-certify a drivers test, as well as review 2012 California's DMV handbook. You have no idea how to drive within the posted speed limits. Brake checking drivers in the fast lane will yield you nothing but a potentially large accident. While there were numerous drivers in the fast lane, (speeds of at least 70MPH) for some blatant reason, driver # 21decides to change into the fast lane at 50 MPH, causing the trail slam on their brakes. To top things off, driver # 21 brake-checks people who come close to the van (at this point, I don't blame angry drivers getting close). Driver # 21 continues to drive a maximum 50MPH on the fast (commuter) lane, with literally no cars for at least 2 miles ahead. Why don't you move over and let oncoming traffic through? There are other lanes for slower traffic ("Slower Traffic Keep Right") Driver # 21 needs to retire, consider a new job, or refresh driving skills. P.S. We all could have changed lanes and cut around him, but those lanes were slow, so drivers would have had to slam on the brakes just to match the next lane, causing people behind me to slam their brakes as well. read more

on new year's eve, after a great show at the golden bough in carmel, we called 626 3333 for a cab to go.. the dispatcher and driver were great guys, the cab was clean, which was a surprise, and the wait time was only a few minutes. another patron of the show said that he has never seen a cab arrive as quickly as this one did. read more

Honestly not sure how they stay in business. Twice we've tried to arrange for them to pick up my wheelchair-bound relative to bring her to our house, and twice they've botched it by either losing the reservation or just not showing up at the reserved time and place. And then when we call to ask what's up, they act like we're a massive inconvenience. Avoid at all costs. read more

I called three hours in advance to give the taxi company a heads up as I live out in Carmel Valley. The "cab" (no signage and no meter and no taxi license) showed up on time. The drive was courteous and he, Duane Gida, seemed to drive safely. When we arrived in Carmel-By-The-Sea, that's when the experience went badly. Mr. Gida announced that the fare was $60! I told him that I'd taken similar taxi trips as recently as mid-2017, and that I paid around $25 plus tip. Mr. Gida insisted that taxi rates are about $3.50/mile and that we had traveled just over 17 miles. As Central Coast Cab and Carmel Cab have the same phone number, I will use neither, ever. read more

Horrible. I missed my flight yesterday thanks to this company. I called repeatedly. I even said I was missing my flight. I said I would get a friend or neighbor to take me to airport but they kept promising they would be here any minute, that they were just around the corner. If this area wants to support tourism, they at least need dependable taxis. I have also had some good experience with them but one missed flight coupled with leading me on that they would be here any minute cancells out all the good. I have taken many cabs over the years and this is the only one that I had trouble with. read more

RUDE CREEPY OWNER, I noticed a well dressed elderly couple with walkers, propped in the hot sun in a parking lot, looking distressed. I asked how long they have been standing here and they said over half an hour, when Central Coast Cab said it would be ten minutes. They had no hats, no shade, no bench to sit and wait -- all which could have been avoided if the cab had been honest about there lead time. I called the owner of Central Coast Cab and he immediately yelled rude comments to me, while I was responding professionally and polite, and tried to communicate that his delay was leaving these elders in a dangerous situation - he DID NOT CARE AT ALL, yelled again IM VERY BUSY LADY AND CANNOT SPEND TIME WORRYING ABOUT THAT. Well, sir, my answer to you is that your business should be closed, and you should loose your license, then, you would have more time to care? I hope you never forget this lovely couple, as I -- since I called UBER ON ME, to get them safely home, after confirming that Central Coast Cab was in fact, 38 minutes delayed when they promised ten minutes. PLEASE NEVER EVER USE THIS CAB COMPANY, they leave elders stranded and lie about there pick up times, My random act of kindness, may have saved them from heatstroke, to the cab company owner I might ask.... what have you done for GOODNESS in the world today? Wasted an hour of my time. After I expressed that i was upset from another cab telling me a 20 minute wait, but when I called back in 35 minutes i was told another 30 minutes, this cab did the same thing. He said I'll have someone there in 15 minutes. Then I call back at 45 mins to chew him out and the driver calls me 15 minutes after that asking if I still want the cab. So I chewed him out too. Dispatcher said yes, and driver would call on his way. 30 minutes later, no call, no driver. I call back, dispatcher says she will call the supervisor. At 4:55 I call back, and dispatcher hangs up on me. Called Yellow Cab, and made my flight with literally one minute to spare. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU CAN HELP IT!! What a horrible experience! We landed at Monterey airport on Friday night and after getting our bags from baggage claim proceeded to the area where the cabs are typically waiting. The cab we went to, which was first in line, had no driver, so we attempted to go to the next cab in line, which refused to take us, telling us the driver in the first car would be back soon. A few minutes later when the driver of the first cab returned we asked if he would take a credit card. The reply was an immediate and terse "no!". We then asked the driver of the second cab if he would take a credit card. His reply was "is your credit any good?"/ Clearly he was able to take a credit card but did not want to do so. Both the driver of the first cab and second cab were extremely rude. Avoid this company at all costs. read more

The company is a cheat. They don't investigate complaints that just cover for their drivers. I've taken a cab from the airport on a few other occasions so when the tab differed by $3 I questioned it. The company says I don't think so in a sarcastic tone "not over $3. But if you cheat everyone by $3, it adds up. Awful experience. Even though I asked in advance do they take cards when the driver stopped he still asked if I had cash and acted like it was such a hassle to run a card. Never again. read more

Seeing all the negative reviews, I thought twice, I did notice most reviews were a bit older with the exception of one. I needed to schedule a cab for an early pickup (4 am) to get to the Monterey Airport from Pebble Beach. I didn't have any alternatives I could see for scheduling a pickup in advance. So, I tried them and was happy with their service. They were on time and took my American Express Card. Helpful when I'm traveling for business. I can't say I had any complaints and would use them again. read more
