If I could give this company a -10, I would. Months ago I had the exact same problem: the girls who work at this cab company have less than zero customer service, and instead choose to deal with the issues by just hanging up on their customers! This company is never prepared with enough cab drivers, give customers unrealistic time frames, and then get belligerent and highly ABUSIVE if one dares to complain. As of today, I have personally experienced Hope, the manager, to be just as rude as all of her dispatchers. Today, I called for a cab at 1:15 and was told it would take 15-20 min. okay, I was good with that. 25 minutes later?, no cab. I called back, as I had an appointment.. and they said they were backed up and it would be another 10-15 min. 5 minutes later I checked on my phone for the automated arrival time?.. another 13 minutes! This is exactly what happened when I called in to complain: 1. the first girl (the manager's daughter) promptly hung up on me saying she didn't appreciate me yelling at her. 2. I called back, she hung up on me again. 3. I called back voicing my displeasure stating I Yelp, and that they really needed to address their horrible, rude and ABUSIVE customer service team. another hang up. 4. I called back again and told the girl, "I know you're Hope's daughter, please let her know I don't think much of your customer service!".. guess what? ANOTHER HANG-UP! 5. One last time.. hoping to reach Hope herself?.. Hope answered the phone and before I had a chance to say another word.. she stated, "We're blocking your number." Wow! Nice, friendly conflict resolution! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE??? I called this cab service because they had the highest rating on Yelp. Duh~ Yelp rating is not always reliable especially if there aren't enough reviews. So I've decided to give this company a review to keep it real. So the driver was friendly and radio station he was playing was a reasonable choice. But he was 20 minutes late. I mean if I were going to be a party or casual drive with a cab then unpunctuality wouldn't be a problem. But I had a flight to catch! I gave enough buffer time (just in case a cab shows up late, and thank GOD!) so I was able to catch my plane on time. I gave this cab company a try out of several cab services in Monterey and this cab service failed terribly due to their unpunctuality. Punctuality is the most important part of cab service, I think. According to Yelp, none of the cab companies in the area has a good reputation, but I needed a ride to the airport early-ish in the morning, so I booked a ride with these guys the night before as they seem to top the Yelp rankings. I was a little skeptical as the women who took my booking didn't ask for any information other than my address, what time I wanted picking up and whether I'd be paying cash or card. The cab showed up 5 minutes early, the driver called me (I guess they have caller id in the office) to let me know he was here, the drive to the airport was hassle free, sane, clean and safe. Don't count on them if you have a 6 am flight out of Monterey airport. I booked Yellow Cab the afternoon before for a 4:30 am Monterey pick-up today (my flight left at 6 am from Monterey Regional Airport). Woman who took my call yesterday was pleasant and said no problem, driver would call me 10-15 minutes before pick-up to reconfirm. Well at 4:40 am, no call, no pick up. Called Yellow Cab, they told me they were backed up, working to get me a driver, might be 10-15 minutes. Still couldn't promise me a ride. Not good. What can you do? I quickly got on my Uber app, only one car available and I was able to snag for a total of $14.64 with tip, while Monterey Cab was charging me $19+. I feel the Yellow Cab customer service was terrible. Why couldn't they text/call me in the morning to tell me there was a delay? When I tried to call them back to cancel car and tell them I got a Uber, they didn't pick up phone. When almost to airport, driver called me, was there to pick me up, it was already after 5 am, more than a half-hour late for my pick-up. Not many options for taxi, only one Uber that time of morning, not sure about Lyft. Next time, I may just stay at Comfort Inn by airport so I can walk over, or just won't fly out so early. read more

I called and requested a cab on NYE. Yes, it is New Year's Eve, and cab companies get slammed, but the cab company gave me a 25 minute wait estimate. 45 minutes later we receive a missed call and call the driver directly back. Within moments, the driver says it was "too dark" to find the house and went on another call and refused to come get us upon me giving directions verbally. I know this is a large company, and my review and others won't make much of an impact on their business but please call another company. They will have much more prompt and professional service. I refuse to support yellow cab ever again. Being prompt and punctual is ESSENTIAL with a cab company, and yellow cab failed. read more

Wow, made a reservation for the airport 24 hours in advance for a 0430 pick up time and the driver is late! Roads are empty and he can't be on time. Then he can't find the address. I finally get to the airport and try to pay a $13.00 fare with a $20.00 bill and the driver has no change. Just a horrible experience! read more

Disaster - missed my flight. I scheduled a ride to the airport 1-1/2 hours prior to the pickup time of 9. At 8:57, I got a call to confirm the ride, and to let me know that the taxi was approximately 40 min away -- too late to get to the airport on time. The supervisor explained that Yellow Cab does not guarantee pick up times, and that pick up times were a matter of availability of cabs in the pickup area at the time they're needed. In other words, the dispatchers contact cabs a few minutes prior to the pickup time to see if anyone happens to be nearby and would like the fare. It makes no difference whether you schedule hours in advance -- or days. Yellow Cab does not plan and ignores the pickup location and time to travel there. It basically just tosses the ball in the air at the pickup time and sees if anyone catches it. I recommend against using Yellow Cab for anything important and time-sensitive, especially a trip to the airport. read more

Wish I could give zero stars, since zero cabs came to pick me up this morning even though I arranged for the pick-up yesterday. When I called to see where the cab was, they told me it would be 10-15 minutes. I needed to make the airbus, so I started walk/running with my luggage and made it with 2 minutes to spare. Thank goodness! The best part was that the woman on the phone was belligerent, never apologized or even acknowledged that there was any problem with a cab being late. WOW! Bad business practice and service is unacceptable! As a local and loyal customer for over 26 years, I've been hesitant to jump on the Uber and Lyft band wagon. I know some of the opener operated cab drivers, I even know the owners of this company. I called for an airport pick up at 4:20. This is not negotiable. I confirmed and received a text at 4:20 that the driver was on his way. When I called dispatch the day before, I was hesitant that the kid was even listening or coherent as I repeated my request, time and the request for a driver with a credit card (btw it's 2018 get with the times!) anyway the driver was nice but said he wasn't told anything and he seemed to know if the dispatch boy I was referring too and even said "yeah he's a weird one". Then I arrive to the airport and my coworker was complaining with his own story that his scheduled cab was 30 min late. He had to drive to the airport, and almost missed his flight. We are a very large company that travels weekly. We will not be using yellow cab again!! read more

These guys are the worst. You would think in a touristy area like carmel/Monterey there would be a decent cab service. But think again. We called a cab about 9.00 pm on a Saturday. They for some reason decided to not pick us up because we were a bit out of Carmel. After waiting 45 minutes we called back, and had to literally beg for a cab. Worst taxi experience ever! I had a destination for a Monterey airport pick up reserved at 4:15am that was totally unacceptable. Aside from the super cranky driver lecturing me over and over about how he couldn't find my pick up location, he first took me to the wrong destination- an airport shuttle stop in town, not the airport. He tried to drop me on the side of the road in the dark with luggage outside the airport saying he wasn't licensed for that location and I told me to walk the rest of the way. He then called the cab company at my insistence and they told both me and the driver that it was not their problem. He ended up dropping me at the airport and I refused to pay the fare. I've had more then a few terrible experiences with this company. Not even waiting an unreasonably amount of time after being promised 10 minutes. But on one occassion , calling my girlfriend a bitch after she was calling on the status of the taxi we requested. Plenty of other times, calling for a taxi at a specific location (Louie Lingiunes) and SEVERAL taxis pass us to pick up guests at sly McFly's 15 minutes after our promised time. At least ask for the name of who you're picking up so random people don't take the taxi of those who called. But I guess that would be too much to ask of this company. Best cab company ever. My family and I used them three times while visiting Monterey. They were quick and on time every time, and all the drivers we met were nice, friendly guys. The icing on the cake--my fiance left his smart phone in the back seat of the cab the night before we were leaving town. Losing it would have met losing lots of important data for him, losing all of our pictures from the trip, and paying lots of $$$ to replace it. But lucky for us, we didn't have to. The next morning, the dispatcher and other people from the company went way out of their way to help us get it back, including tracking it down, picking it up, and hand delivering it to us on the side of the road. If there was a way to score a negative star I would have checked that level. On Saturday evening we had an event to attend that started at 5:30 p.m. I called that morning to schedule a pick up at 5:15 p.m. and stated it was for 6 of us to make sure they had a cab that could transport us. The woman told me to call back after 12:00 or 1:00 p.m. for an evening booking. I called back at 1:15 p.m. with the same request and emphasized we had 6 of us so we needed a minivan or other large vehicle to make sure we were all accommodated. At 5:00 p.m. I called dispatch just to verify we were confirmed, the auto feature confirmed my booking so I though all was well. At 5:20 p.m. no one arrived so I called dispatch and the dispatcher told me it would be about another 20 minutes before they had a cab of that size. I responded that it was time sensitive for us to attend the event and it was already 5:20 p.m., dispatcher apologized and said sorry they were busy and looking for a cab. At 5:40 p.m. a cab arrived that could only fit 4 of us, but he said another cab was on the way for the rest of us. Three got in the cab and before they were barely down our hill the cab driver told our friends there wasn't another cab coming!!! At that time our friend told the driver to return to our home so the rest of us wouldn't be left stranded. Then, he rudely said it was a waste of his time for the trip. We ended up taking two separate cars and driving ourselves. Totally unprofessional and deceitful. Isn't there one decent cab company in this county??? Every one of the yelp ratings is terrible for the rest of them as well....unless they are all owned by the same people!!! read more
