I'm so happy that they have the chef preparing made to order hibachi again! Imo, that's what sets them apart from other buffets. I also love their salt & pepper shrimp!! They are 10xs way better than most take out places when it comes to those. For 15.99 for a dinner for adults, the hibachi station alone makes it worth it. My 8 yr ate his fair share of typical American food, such as nuggets, cheese sticks, steak, & ice cream! His cost was only $8, so I feel like he definitely ate more than $8 worth of food. My daughter is only 3 but loves fruit so she ate mostly fruit, chicken nuggets, and jello, but at $5, I had 0 complaints. With a drink, our cost was $36 pre tip. So, not bad for 2 little people & 1 pregnant mama. My husband is not a fan of buffets, so this ilwas a treat for myself and the kids. I bet he would love the hibachi bar though so we may be back. The ambiance is always pretty calm and it's clean in there. The decor is somewhat dated but I can't say that's a turn off for me bc I enjoy the quality of the food. The waitresses are somewhat attentive but I mean, it's a buffet so I don't expect them to wait on me hand and foot. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and we'll definitely be back! They also have kid meals and food that can be prdered at the drive thru! Check them out! read more

Quick lunch with my daughter. We were looking for the salt and pepper shrimp but we were told it's only served after 4pm. Bummer. We decided to stay. Great variety, food was hot and fresh. I was able to make a bowl that was cooked in front of me. Lots of seating. Great value for the variety of food. read more

I strongly advise against letting the waitstaff take your credit card to pay for your meal here. We made the mistake of doing so, and our card information was stolen and used to make over $1,600 in unauthorized charges to OpenAI/ChatGPT. The staff cannot be trusted, and this experience has been absolutely unacceptable. We have reported this incident to the Better Business Bureau and our bank's fraud investigation unit. We will never return to this establishment again. read more

Every time I come here, the food is delicious. I've never had any issues. The hibachi is great. No problems finding a parking spot usually. It's my favorite Chinese buffet. read more

The only reason I give this place 3 stars is because of the fact that it has a hibachi the wait staff was pretty attentive. The restaurant was clean. The bar where the food is located was clean. The food was OK but nothing to write home about like I said the best thing going is the hibachi if they didn't have the hibachi it would be worth going. read more

Ate here today and thought I was going to have a nice hot delicious meal, and boy was I wrong. Nothing was hot, the booth she put us at was so small, I could hardly fit with any room to eat when in fact there were alot more seats available. The price for 2 buffets and 2 drinks was $36.81, that's outrageous, especially for what lil bit I are. I will not go back to this place at all. The worst in my opinion. read more

Nice size buffet with lots of choices and even a small hibachi grill. For the restaurant itself, it could use a good cleaning and maybe even updated with the decor. Fat Boy Tip: the hibachi is included in the price of the buffet and is cooked fresh in front of you so I recommend skip the buffet for the main items and go to the hibachi grill. Pick out the fresh ingredients and let the cook do his thing. read more

Taste good, I feel a bit sick sometimes after I eat there. I like going for breakfast on Saturday morning. The food is fresher then and it's not crowded read more

I attended the buffet for lunch. The hostess was nice, and finished plates were removed from the table promptly. The restaurant was not full, except for a bus load of kids who were in and out in less than an hour. The kitchen staff kept the food line filled. There were many food options for meat eaters, seafood lovers, vegetarians, and such. I wish there were more salad toppings and dressing options, as well as some dairy-free desserts. I wish the sushi staff was more friendly and that items were better labeled, especially for people who cannot have certain ingredients. I would have preferred egg-free versions of the fried rice and mai fun. The fried pollock was definitely overcooked-- sad. I did not see much happening at the hibachi grill. Overall, it was a decent buffet. I paid $14 and change. Would I return? Yes. How often? A few times a year. Family-friendly? Yes, but do not let your children go unsupervised throughout the buffet lines. Be respectful. read more

This place was AMAZING we got seared right away and was able to eat without waiting. The variety of food was phenomenal and honestly world class. The staff was so kind and even gave me merch. My 2 waiter Laton and Alina were so kind to me and helpful. Genuinely one of the best Chinese places i have ever tried would recommend. read more

This place was a master class of a restaurant had the best service when we got seated right away. There was much variety and many options to eat from. Not only was the variety for show but it was a delicacy to have on my taste buds. I genuinely had the best experience with my waiters latón and alina were the best and very kind. This has been the best food I have ever had . If any one wants to come I highly recommend I am definitely coming back. read more

One word: Hibachi! and it's back! That's right, the hibachi grill is back and it is much welcomed from this diner. My wife put her foot down and said we weren't going back until they brought back the grill. It was like seeing a friend you haven't seen in years. Select your veggies and meats, and they'll cook you up something delicious! read more

Food sucks, staff sucks worse than the food. Having gone back after not eating here for several years only to be confirmed that this restaurant will never improve. read more

The food there was amazing! They give us a very good selection. I like to start with the shrimp and seafood. It is all very good! I usually start My second plate with sweet and sour chicken fried rice. The only problem I find with the food is that it so good , I eat so much I never have enough room for dessert! read more

This review is meant to suggest a few things management can do to improve their services and foods. There were no utensils around except a fork and spoon for each guest. Foods were not hot at all, barely warm. Service was none existence, wait staff rarely came to pick up dirty plates. Hostesses were more interested in carrying on conversation with each other rather than serving customers. I hope management read this and make improvements, to read more

Pretty good. Service was nice food was hot and almost cooked perfectly. Sometimes it's kind of cold. It's not too loud the not too quiet. Perfect place to be in for an Asian/American restaurant. Place is also pretty clean. read more

the food was nasty, the soda machine was out, tasted like carbonated water. The food was cold and it tasted like they put it in the fridge, warmed it up and then put it back out. Our waiter could barely understand English, he was just worried about getting our money instead of providing us with good service. They are definitely WAY too overpriced for the food and service that they provide to customers. i definitely do not recommend, this was my first time going and I won't be back. The restaurant was cute tho and the food was neatly placed in the buffet. read more

We drive from Baton Rouge to Central just to eat at Central buffet. Never disappointed and love it that they open their hibachi grill.

Excellent service Dry well organized and exceptionally clean Great Variety of food Sushi is ok but people grab it as soon as it comes out and load up Most food is very good but at times the ribs are dry and overcooked Eat as much as you like but save room for ice cream and desserts Price is Ok not expensive or cheap I eat there frequently read more

It's fine for the price, quite, lots of flavors, great selection and nice staff work here.

The fact that this place is one of only TWO choices for Chinese food in Central is a horrible shame. I've given this place multiple chances, and every time I've gone, the experience has ranged from unremarkable to flat out poor. Foodwise, you'd be better off getting typical takeout Chinese food, as most of the food is fairly bland compared to the traditional American Chinese takeout that you're used to. The buffet is barely refreshed sometimes, and food will sit for long periods, meaning, of course, that it will be cold by the time you get to it. The soup, as some other reviewers have noted, is either lukewarm to flat out cold. Anecdotally, I've had friends eat raw chicken here. Multiple times. But I did not experience that, so take it for what you will. The building itself and buffet set up is fine. It's pretty large, and there's plenty of space. Not cramped, but it doesn't really matter if the product you put out is bad. As other reviewers have said, the service is bad. The concept of a buffet isn't that difficult: you say you want the buffet, you sit and eat, and then you pay. Pretty much every other Chinese place from Shreveport to NOLA has figured this system out. But for some reason Central Buffet screws with the formula by adding waiters into the mix. Waiters, at a self-service buffet. This confuses me to no end about this place. Their only service is to refill your drinks, of which you will get precisely 1 (read ONE) refill before they ignore you to get you out of the door faster. Like every other buffet place, this can be easily solved by just adding a self-service drink fountain. The front of the house is rude and shrug you off. If anything, the people who do table service are nice, even if their whole inclusion in this mess is confusing. TL;DR, just go somewhere else. China Wok across the street does better food, even if there's no buffet. For sushi, go to Nagoya. If you're dying for a buffet, try Hot Wok in Denham. Just seriously, go anywhere else. Don't give these people a cent until they clean up their act. read more

Think we got sick the last time we ate here. Usually it's good though. Service can be hit or miss I feel.

Our family has been eating here for many years. Over the last several years, however, there has been a noticeable decline in both the quality, and taste, of the food items, as well as the service. Very few locals regularly eat here any longer, which is a shame. It seems as though greed has caused them to buy inferior quality food, while at the same time raising their prices. It is a shame, because there are very few buffets left, especially in this area. We won't be returning unless things improve drastically. read more

Great buffet. It can get busy, causing the drinks and table service to slow down. Outside of that, do recommend for a great lunch.

Didn't feel comfortable and it was overpriced for me and my two kids under 10.It was 55 dollars

It's a typical Chinese buffet. There was nothing in particular that stood out. The server made us so uncomfortable because she seemed mad the entire time. Kindness is the same across cultures. Follow up--I went again for sesame balls (good if hot). The service is just terrible. If you don't care about service or eating mediocre Chinese food, you can give this place a try. Elaborating. The host snatched the pen and receipt out of my hand without making any eye contact, and a server forced me to move so she could use the card machine while I was checking out by nudging her body in my personal space. No one said, excuse me, pardon me, thank you for coming.... Just rude. Unfortunately, it is not a very clean from the floors, walls, and chairs--years of neglect. read more

Yum!!! Only downfall is that I don't live anywhere near here but really I'm thinking that's a blessing in disguise! Well...also, they must be the only place like this in the area because I went on a Friday night with a bunch of family, and the wait (and the amount of people also waiting) was ridiculous! However...it was well worth the wait. They had all the usual Chinese buffet options that were fresh no doubt due to the amount of people there gobbling it all up. Play they had lots of sushi options that were not just the ordinary choices and Hibachi, which was unfortunately totally crowded. I'm thinking they might want to consider opening a second location if they are getting this much business on a regular basis because this place was packed, and the inside was a pretty decent size. I don't go to Central much, but I was impressed with the little strip mall this was located in. We only walked along the back so didn't get to see all the places, but I do know there was a nail place that also had several patrons. The strip was beautifully designed in bricks and had a fun courtyard in the middle that my husband and I both agreed would be a neat area for events like rehearsal dinners or smaller gatherings. Would love to say that I'd go back but likely just won't make the drive from Baton Rouge, but...if you live in the area, I'd say to definitely go early enough and get a taste for yourself! read more

The cold food is warm and the hot food is cold! It either has no seasoning or all salt! I don't know what they're thinking when they decided to fry shrimp with the whole shell still on! The food is disgusting! Sorry! The service is nice and pleasant. read more

When this place first opened I really didn't care for it. My mom talked me into going awhile back and it's actually really good now! They had a nice hibachi bar area which is my favorite thing to eat at a Chinese restaurant. The flavor was really good as well. There was a decent size sushi area with many different types of sushi . I enjoyed the taste and texture ! There was a few different buffet lines with all types of dishes even some American food if you have a picky eater in your group. The dessert area offered many choices as well. I will definitely be back ! Dinner I think is $11.99 a person. read more

It was very delicious. It was a friendly atmosphere. It reminded me of great taste. Very cost efficient.

I've dined here numerous times. For what it is, it's excellent: a buffet with a good variety of food of good food, so there will probably be something you like. For many things, the food is good. I liked the braised green beans, the hot and sour soup, and the kung pao chicken. The beef with broccoli is good, too. The sushi is okay. If what you like is something that won't tolerate steam tables well, it may be problematic. So, I had some soggy-ish eggrolls, and the crispy chicken wasn't so crispy. read more

We use to go to Central Buffet and it was very good, also very busy. We went last night and it was terrible and there were only 5 tables at 6:30 pm. The buffet was not refreshed as it should have been, many pans had maybe 1 or 2 spoonfuls left. Even the rice had only a little at the bottom. I tried the sweet & sour soup and it was COLD! The egg roll was awful, I couldn't identify anything that was inside, one bite was more then enough. I finally got a little rice and picked the carrots out of something I couldn't identify and tried to eat that. Even that was terrible. I finally gave up and ate the canned fruit they offered...at least I could see what that was. My husband who loves to eat tried to get a good meal but it was really impossible with what was in the buffet. They did have some boiled shrimp and although there was NO SEASONING they were the best things on the buffet. Even the frozen ice cream wasn't good. It was frozen milk and there wasn't a hint of vanilla at all. The waitress had 2 tables but couldn't take care of them. I had to track her down and ask for drink refills. Used plates were left on the table instead of being picked up. At one time a man came out and maybe he was the owner because she came running to get out used plates off the table. She and the other waitresses were too busy talking among themselves to take care of her tables. We were suppose to bring our grandson a dinner home but instead of getting one there we stopped at Canes and got him a good meal. This was one of my husbands favorite places to eat but last night was our last visit there. My advice is if you haven't been there in awhile then stay away. It is awful. read more

I went here excited to try the place out after reading the great reviews. Even though the place had quite a few people there, they were not refilling the buffet bins during my visit and about half the food was gone or picked over. I paid an awful lot of money to say they had very little seafood, no one working the hibachi, and I didn't see any steak! The food that I did manage to eat was decent. I wouldn't brag about this place or anything. read more

My finance loves this restaurant. The prices aren't bad for a buffet and they do have a lot to choose from. It does get pretty busy on the weekend for lunch. They have a lot of options to choose from. He loves the honey chicken. I enjoy the chicken on a stick and the fish. They have a hibachi grill for those that want that or sushi. There are also different chickens, soup, shrimp, noodles, vegetables, fruits and desserts! read more
