Dull looking restaurant, like a western movie bar. The food follows the place we had the fish menu, the fish was Okay but the vegetables and potatoes all tasted the same and looked like it died yesterday.

Passing by this Austrian local, I've been amazed by the size of the rips, the one-meter sausages, the appetizing burgers and Wiener schnitzel, the huge salads... Well, it tastes as good as it looks! And the beers on tap too. It isn't a fancy restaurant but a simple and friendly local like I like them. We had a really good time at lunch: sitting outdoors in the quiet alley is truly agreeable, the staff is attentive and efficient, the menu is very long (literally!)... They have a whole bunch of burgers with different kinds of meat, the salads are fresh and with bug portions of meat too: we all enjoyed our tasty and generous meal! And left happy and smiling :)

    Are you f---ing kidding me?!

Come with the biggest appetite ever and possibly a cardiologist. Humongous portions abound, with big beers to go with it, we ordered Vienna ribs and they brought us an entire pig on top of fried potatoes, Austrian sauerkraut and onions. The couple next to us ordered the meter sausages and they got over six feet of it. Yikes! They weren't kidding when the meant meter. We wound up sharing with them. The ribs were ok. The food isn't the best but for what you pay and the portions you're served, it's worth the spectacle. Vienna General Hospital is strategically located near by. Just in case...

However, my personal favorite restaurant for authentic Austrian cuisine is Schitzelwirt! They have an exceptional Biergarten in the front of the restaurant or inside dining if you want a more romantic setting. I recommend enjoying their traditional Wiener Schnitzel with Herb Potatoes. Aperol Spritz & local Sturm Wine pairs nicely with this meal. The service was excellent! They are able to speak English but restaurants are the best place to try using your Deutsch and the staff will be very pleased and create laughs around the table. Also, this restaurant isn't very close to an U-Bahn station so I recommend using a taxi or Uber to arrive and continue your night.

The restaurant is big with lots of seating available and prices are reasonable as well. We even saw a photo of Ed Shireen on the wall during our time there indicating that he had eaten at the restaurant before! Menus are in English and German and the staff are able to communicate in English fluently. They also have some outdoor seating as well. We both ordered the Wiener Schnitzel. Sides are separate so I ordered a salad while my partner ordered a side of fries. The salad was tart and fresh. The schnitzel portion was huge! We got 2 big pieces of schnitzel each on the plate. I tried to finish my plate as best as I could but it was difficult. The coating on the schnitzel was crispy and just the perfect thickness where the pork meat was pounded to the perfect thickness. Overall, a great place to grab some schnitzel in Vienna!

Like Demel, Cafe Central is a MUST visit when you go to Vienna, where the coffee houses are a sight to behold on their own. Yes, the wait is quite long. Every time I pass by, there's a line, but it actually goes rather quickly and if you can find something to do to pass the time, it's like nothing at all. First off, the interior is STRIKING, a work of art in its own right with marble columns, stylish looking cafe tables, and paintings every where you go. Apparently Sigmund Freud has been a frequent patron here. Even if you were to get nothing at all, just the experience of sitting here is worth your eyes absorbing. But, oh!--the cakes--and the coffees! I had me an iced coffee that had a great body mixed with a delicate flavor to give me a jolt through the day. The hazelnut cake was airy and fluffy, not at all too sweet like American desserts have a tendency to be! The staff here move efficiently, and I love how there's no pressure to hurry up and pay your bill or make your order. A repeat place to be sure if I were to go back to Vienna. My twin and I went on Sept '25 for our vacation.

The line moved pretty quickly, though, and I waited about 30 minutes. The interior is stunning. I was completely enamored with the architecture and the structure of the building. I was not overly hungry, but I wanted to try the goulash and the apple strudel. Get the strudel with the sauce. 10/10. Amazing. I would absolutely do it again.
