Update 11.16.2022 - I want to reiterate we loved their work but again their communication is just…read morenot great. Here is an example of it; after I wrote my review here is how (text messages) he approached me. Attacking a customers character is never good First off I have to say the work and speed that their crew delivered was great. We love everything that they did for us. We had a number of requests for them to: 1. Build a deck near our pool with cover 2. Replace our fencing to hide the pool equipment 3. New fence towards the back of our property In the photos you can see how great it turned out. Now where they lost their stars is in communication and dealing with conflicts. 1st issue - We had a dumpster provided that they subcontracted and had a number of issues. James gave my husband the phone number to contact dumpster company and "deal with the issue". As a customer all issues pertaining to a subcontractor that THEY hired should have been handled by them and not us. 2nd issue - some of the fence posts they installed warped and we asked for them to come repair. We had to text and call about 10 times! We were given dates that someone would show up and then no one showed up and no communication about 5 times. Continuous calling and text had to occur with the same result. Then random out of the blue one day someone showed up to fix the fence and once again no communication to inform us they were coming nor after to check how the repair went. This process was extremely frustrating and clear that dealing with conflicts isn't their forte.

For some reason yelp is not showing my initial post for Ryan Thurman and 3:12 Custom Exteriors. DO…read moreNOT hire this business. Met at Home & Garden show (reported this to them as well). Paid $5k to start, $5k for outdoor kitchen pieces (still haven't received $1.4k fridge, and then asked for another $7.5k after frame & gas work ($7.5k held for end). Work started in June 25, as of 13 Sept got lawyer involved. After initial post he reached out for explanation which was approved and he didn't contact when he said. I was told he has issues with multiple businesses and some folks have reached out to complain directly to me. Now with continuing work we are finding tons of mistakes and having to hire folks to fix it.

Avoid Ryan Thurman of 3:12 Custom Exteriors- A Costly and Stressful Mistake…read moreHiring Ryan Thurman was one of the worst decisions we've ever made. What started in May 2025 as a routine construction project quickly turned into a six-month nightmare that devastated our home and peace of mind. As of October 16, 2025, our front, side, and backyard still look like an abandoned construction site. Ryan collected the majority of the payment upfront, yet completed less than 15% of the work. He never secured the necessary permits, ignored basic timelines, offered excuse after excuse when asked for updates and admitted to avoiding our phone calls. What's worse, Ryan admitted to using our money for other projects and advertising -- in his own words, he "borrowed from Peter to pay Paul." This kind of financial mismanagement is unacceptable and incredibly unethical. When we asked for a plan to finish the job, he told us he couldn't make one because he had no money and no upcoming work. His solution? He asked us for even more money and said we could take a lien against his house in New Braunfels, TX. We seriously doubt his family is aware their home is being offered as collateral. Since then, we've been contacted by other customers and subcontractors he owes money to -- clearly, this isn't an isolated case. Ryan presents himself as a Christian and a trustworthy businessman, but our experience was the complete opposite. He is, quite frankly, a wolf in sheep's clothing. He lacks honesty, professionalism, and any sense of accountability. Do yourself a favor: do a thorough background check before hiring him. We wish we had. Learn from our mistake and avoid Ryan Thurman of 3:12 Custom Exteriors at all costs.
