STAY AWAY!! I have waited a year to write this review until the SECOND replaster was finished…read more During our intial ordeal, Alan came across very helpful and concerned about giving us a good deal. THen after we signed, he nickel and dimed us to death and only now I can see why.He was very chinzy on giving any warranty or guarantee on the work and materials. But he was always super prompt to pick up the scheduled payments... He touted all his vast experience in resurfacing pools but finally admitted ours was only the third one he had done-DISHONEST. Unfortunately, he was recommended by someone we found out was not reliable. Their pool has had numerous issues as well. And we later found plaster in the main jets-obstructing the flow and one of the spa jets never worked properly. So one year after the initial work, we had cracks and a few places the plaster had come off completely. He asked if we had dropped anything heavy in there-like a bowling ball??!! How absurd when everything floats! When we called him, he said we hadnt been taking care of the pool. We have had it 20 years and the initial plaster was only then needing to be replaced-same maintenance all those years. We had a few other experts look at it and said no way it should be failing after only a year. Turns out they did not put the proper "under" layer down that stabilizes the plaster so it won't crack. Cheap skate!! So Alan finally agreed to "patch" the holes. Luckily he sent out Emmanuel who said patching would look hideous and so he would replace the whole pool. He did a beautiful job. But since it happened in the summer with our exhorbitant water rates, we had to pay $700 to fill it. What a huge mistake hiring him-wasted so much time and money. It was a terrible ordeal-STAY AWAY!!

Beautiful! I called around and checked reviews and then I chose three companies to interview for…read moreour pool resurfacing and tile change. After the interviews and chose Pool Renovations by Alan based on his knowledge and experience but mostly because he was extremely honest. He was clear on when he would be able to start the job, what products he recommends based on his years of experience and his knowledge of the new products used for longevity. We are extremely happy with his work. Alan and his crew were respectful of our property and made sure not to disrupt our neighbors and leave any debris from the removal of the old surface and tile. His crew worked extremely hard, and I could tell that they had a lot of experience also. We also had work done on our pool pump and heater and his repair specialists Tony and Sharon took care of that and we are now ready for our next pool party. His pricing was right on point with the other companies I interviewed, and his timeline was faster than the others that said it would be months before they could complete the job. I would highly recommend Pool Renovations by Alan.

I included pictures of everything…read more What started out good quickly soured. Originally we hired them to do weekly pool maintenance which went OK. We weren't unhappy at least. I had asked them to give us a quote to resurface the pool as we wanted to start exploring options. In hindsight, I should have asked them extensive questions about the entire process. It was only after things happened that I was made aware of stuff. My lack of knowledge and their lack of being upfront created major issue. I sent Mike 2 pics by text with examples of what color plaster I was wanted. I wanted it to be a medium-dark blue color. I have included the EXACT pictures I sent him in my review. Their company replastered the pool. After the first plaster job was done, I immediately noticed that the color wasn't exact. I was a little concerned, but I know that they had explained to me that the color will change as the pool is filled up and the plaster cures. So I sucked it up and hoped for the best. Then ONLY AFTER the plaster was done did anyone tell me that I had to brush the pool 2-3 times a day for 2 weeks. That is a HUGE deal especially when its up to one person to do everyday. Another communication issue that seriously irritated me. Prior to the first plaster job, I was told I'd pay half the job up front and the other half after it was done. But what that really meant to Mike was that I got to pay half the job up front and the other half before the plaster was cured and the pool was filled and balanced. That is a bunch of crap. And despite my better judgement, I paid him. Mike told me "We aren't going anywhere.. This is an on going process." During the curing process of the pool, I started to notice these big white swirls in the plaster color. It made the color look like blue sky with clouds. I brought this to their attention immediately. First they tried telling me that its just part of the color. Which I responded that I never asked for clouds in my pool. Then I was told that it was a mineral build up on the plaster as it was curing and they needed to do whats called a "hot bath" to get rid of it. That never happened because what really ended up happening was they sent a guy to our home with a pvc pipe and the acid and spot treated the really bad spots. Which didn't help at all. It took them 3 weeks of us constantly harassing them in order to get them to finally address the problem. Their solution was for us to pay for the "upgrade" to pebble material and they would pay for the plaster and labor to redo the pool. We were really hesitant to do this because of all the mediocre things we noticed, but again against our better judgment we thought maybe we were just being too harsh and to give them another try. We paid them additional money for the upgrade to pebble and decided while we were doing it over, we'd have the water line tile replaced as well and paid them for that. The second job, my husband and I took lots of pictures of the process and kept a close eye on everything. It was a nightmare. We were told the job was going to take about a week to hammer out all the old layers of plaster and then replaster. Fine. What happened was that it took them a week to hammer out the old plaster and then we had to wait 2 weeks for them to finally come back and plaster. All the while Mike's trailer for the concrete was parked in my driveway. Which, not Mike's fault, but because my husband had to park on the street, his new truck got hit. That was just another crappy thing. Anyways, the work crew left cigarette butts, empty bottles and cans in the street and yard. They used our shovel AND our wheelbarrow without asking. They splashed plaster up on top of our gutters and after I noticed, I asked them to please spray it off when they were done. They never did. As for the 2nd pebble plaster, the color is what I wanted. Unfortunately, this job had problems. First being the water line tile is crooked and wavy in spots. Then they got the pebble uneven in spots like near the pool light and on one of the stairs. They also failed to suggest redoing the drain at the bottom of the pool, which we were open to and actually brought it up to them. But when they redid the plaster, they broke our grate and ended up having to repair around the grate, STILL to this day never replaced the grate with a matching white one. They also failed to seal around the jets which caused a big leak and resulted in having to drain half the pool, chip out the new pebble plaster and seal then redo the pebble plaster around the drain. Their half ass guys didn't acid wash that spot at all, so now we have a really light colored patch around one of our jets. The solution Mike came up with? Redo the pool a 3rd time. Hell no. We asked them to refund us for what we all thought was fair for the problems. Mike at least obliged and I'm thankful for that. I was limited in the length of this review. No recommendation.
