Tonight for dinner we had the BBQ style pork pie. You pre heat the oven to 350 and let it cook for 90 minutes. I cooked up some basmati rice to serve with it. My house smells amazing. Time to eat the pie! I let it rest for 10 minutes before we ate it. The pie crust was so good and flaked like a homemade pie should. The filing is all bbq pulled pork. The pies this Thanksgiving were absolutely horrible. We have been buying our pies each year from Centerville Pie Company and the pies seem to get worse each year. There is always minimal filling with a bulky bland tasting crust. This year the cherry pie seemed as if it was frozen. Very sour cherries and runny with water. A precious gem on cape. I live in Franklin, MA but I grew up on Cape Cod, I recently went to cape for a short vacation. My wife has never been to centerville pie, so it was the FIRST place I took her so she can experience their sweet breaker breakfast sandwiches. A new annual tradition was born this year in our second trip to Centerville Pies. Last year we took a chance on a hole in the wall, this year we knew we had to be back. This year we knew their chicken pie is the best and the gravy is amazing, never heavy or greasy. We also got the turkey burger, garnished with fresh herbs and a savory yogurt sauce. Be prepared, your house will smell delicious while this is baking in the oven. Simply divine! As others mentioned, the pie is literally just chicken and gravy...no vegetables. In my opinion, the pie lacks heavily in flavor. Seasonings and spices really are needed to elevate the dish. The real savior in this pie is the crust which is buttery and flaky. It's seriously delicious but not enough to make up for the blandness of the chicken and gravy. I'm not sure how this is one of Oprah's favorite chicken pot pies or why it ended up on the Travel Channel. Perhaps their other dishes shine, but the chicken pot pie is nothing to rave about. Stopping for lunch on the drive down to Provincetown was a must with the one-year-old in the back seat. He was at his limit, and my head was about to explode, so we pulled off route 6 to find a lunch spot despite the fact that we didn't see any signs for food. We drove for about 5 miles before we hit on a stretch of road with a few strip malls, and we pulled into a parking lot with a pizza joint, intending to stop there. But then the small Centerville Pie Co. sign caught my eye, and there was no chance we were going to settle for pizza pie. This place was a real jewel. We ate delicious food cooked right in front of us at the grill. I had a fabulous fresh spinach and cheese quiche, the baby had grilled cheese with tomato, and my husband ate an omelet. The owner/head baker then came out of the kitchen with fresh flaky turnovers for us. She said we'd be her guinea pigs for a new recipe she was testing, and we gladly accepted the job. They were buttery, warm, flaky cherry-filled delights. But the best part of the meal was the warm blueberry pie with a scoop of vanilla. The crust was delectable, the filling divine. I've been going to Centerville Pie since 2008 for my fix of delicious pies! Naturally, when I got married on the Cape in October, I thought what better dessert then PIE! Instead of cake, we went all pie and ice cream from Four Seas! And let me just say, our guest had thirds. Their pies are always delicious, my favorites being the WILD BLUEBERRY and the MIXED BERRY. Intrigued by memories of great savory pies from my Midwestern American in-laws I ordered two of Oprah's favorite Chicken Pot Pies from the Centerville Pie Company. Though the website did not offer any ingredients, it did say that there were no veggies, only chicken and gravy, in these greatest of all chicken pot pies. And that was true. All the rest was hype, a lie, BS, a con, unwholesome and unhealthy. We cooked it according to instructions and let it rest, etc. and then we proceeded to be appalled. The crust was proper brown and crunchy, etc, and inside it was chock-full of diced chicken floating in an amorphous mass of goopy, starchy, slimy, ugly-smelling, SALTY-AS-ALL-GETOUT, stuff that no one wanted to eat. I picked up the box at that point and started to read the inexhaustible list of ingredients. It reads like the back label of any commercially produced crap--innumerable chemically altered fats and oils and many salts and stuff unknown to most humans. But this is a $35 pie, and Oprah's fave! How can it be? Hasn't Oprah even heard that hydrogenated fats are bad for her chubby bod? This pie has not one, but if memory serves me, at least two different ones--if one won't kill ya' the other one will! Doesn't she know that excessive, disgustingly excessive, salt not only tastes bad but will kill you too? What has happened to all her down-home food know how? Worst pot pie I ever had. Not one single vegatable in the entire thing. Have you ever had a pot pie with nothing in it but gravy and chicken. Even the gravy was bland had to add pepper. Some pieces of chicken were not even cut in bite size as one piece was like an entire whole leg. Gravy like water. Never buying this again. Really bad. Also rip off price for what you get. The friendliest people paired the amazing food. This place is definitely a go to when you're down the cape. We got a few slices of different pies - chicken, spinach & feta, pecan, mixed berry, and cape cod crunch. And all were amazing. We also got Lobster Benedict, which was phenomenal as well. (There was four of us) The prices are fair and good. There's a parking lot upfront and you can buy pies and other pastries to go as well. I bought a Chocolate Creme, Chicken and Shepherd's Pie to go as well! I'm so excited to eat it. Go here if you're in the area! Or not...it's definitely worth the trip! Shut Your Pie Whole...AND EAT! Needless to say these guys know pie! My aunt got me a bday gift certificate here and I was super excited because of the reviews I had heard, they outdid themselves! They had small pies which were perfect for me to try several flavors with! I ended up with a banana cream pie, blueberry pie and a chocolate chip cookie pie! The best was the blueberry, the crust is just perfect and the filling tasted fresh and delicious, a good balance of the actual fruit and sweetness! The most decadent was by far the banana cream pie, it was mouth watering! Strong but natural flavor of banana mixed with the creamy pudding and whip cream top, sheer perfection! I ordered 2 pies during our home confinement from Centerville Pies. They had an advertised special, buying 1 pie, getting another at a reduced price. The only pies available were BBQ Pork, and Pumpkin for a non-savory pie. I have purchased Centerville Pies at our Stop/Shop, our store carrying only Chicken and Shepards. Both have been fine but wanted to experience something different. Neither pie came fully frozen, but due to very cool temps here, I was not concerned. I baked both pies @ 350 for the directed amount, and was so disappointed when I took them out. The BBQ Pork had grease spilling over the sides (I had used a cookie sheet under it), flavor was less than spectacular. The Pumpkin Pie was flat, dry, and overly seasoned with what I thought may have been cloves. Crust overcooked, and I think that the pie may have been a Thanksgiving leftover. I am disappointed, as we are trying to maintain a stay at home policy, and hoped this would be a special (and expensive) treat. We certainly did not get the treat we hoped. read more

I was shocked but didn't let on, so I told her I left my money in the car, intending to go to the car and high-taildout of there and leave the tiny chicken pie on the counter. Unfortunately my wife wasn't as stunned by the price like I was and offered up the cash so I paid the woman and left. When I got to the car with the pie and told my wife I had the money but I didn't want to pay a ridiculous price for a chicken pie she told me that she wasn't even thinking about the price and only wanted to help and then agreed and wanted to return the pie. I didn't want to embarrass anyone so I said, lets just take it home and see what it's all about. Well.... I found out. Average. Its a chicken pie. Stopped in on my annual cape cod trip. Saw the great reviews. Made my friends try it with me... Savory Pies: The chicken pie with gravy was really good. Took other yelpers' tip about adding a side of veggies. Would definitely get that pie again. Also tried the sausage/apple/sage pie. Solid all around. Over all a really hearty filling meal. Sweet pies: key lime pie filling was good bur the crust was fantastic. The cape cod crunch pie was OK. Wish there was more heath bar on top though. The fact that the storefront opens up into the retail pie shop shows where the emphasis is, but the restaurant serves not only the signature pies, but also above average omelet, sandwich and soup fare. My wife and I both had a cup of clam chowder featuring a generous portion of freshly chopped clams. For an entree, I had the guilty-pleasure grilled cheese sandwich with bacon, while my wife had the cranberry chicken salad sandwich. Both were served with a pickle and a bag of Ruffles potato chips. What an awesome spot for breakfast/lunch! We came for brunch. I had the French toast, corned beef hash, and bacon. It was cooked perfectly (real corned beef not from a can), fresh local bread, real maple syrup, and crispy bacon. The hot chocolate has real whipped cream on top - made in house. My husband had the lobster Benedict and said it was awesome! The poached eggs were cooked perfectly and the lobster claws were tender, not over cooked. He loved the home fries that came with it. He has a culinary arts degree and is picky about how things are cooked. The staff was really friendly, the restaurant is small but clean and we only had to wait about 5 minutes for a table. I read a few others where people said the crust was sweet and the sauce was extremely bland, but also read some other good reviews so I threw caution to the wind and bought 2 pies from Roche Brothers for Easter, as we are tired of the usual ham. What a mistake.....maybe quality has really gone down hill, or the frozen pies that go to the grocery are not the same as in house. Awful.....the crust, as others mentioned was surprisingly sweet, the sauce was incredibly bland and the chicken was bone dry. And I mean BONE DRY. No one said anything as the pie was being eaten, too polite to speak the truth, but no one said, "this is so good"!.....just......silence. $26.00 for two pies, money gone and the leftovers I threw outside for the critters. We drove down here from Lynn one Saturday morning after hearing about Centerville Pie Co. on Kiss 108. We placed an order ahead of time, for a famous chicken pie, a meat pie, a clam pie, and a chocolate chip cookie. I must say I could not figure out what all the fuss is about, especially the Oprah buzz. Maybe they have got too big and the quality is not as great? The gravy had no taste whatsoever, the pie crust for the Chicken pie was good, not outstanding but definitely tasty. The actual chicken left a lot to be desired, dark mean and white meat, not at all stuffed to the brim and not with a lot of taste/seasoning. The chocolate chip cookie pie was good, but very dry. The clam pie, not sure what I was expecting, but it was pretty uneventful, and like the other savories, pretty tasteless. Really Oprah?? Definitely not worth the 3 hour drive time roundtrip. For the second week in a row I have went to the centerville pie company for Sunday breakfast. For the second week in a row the inexplicable rudeness from the staff has left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Last week , the food as usual was very good, the people behind counter were also friendly. Our waitress however was extremely rude, our waitress was a 20 something, snotty, rude, entitled person. She treated us as if it was a chore to be bothered by us. When more than 1 person asked for milk for their coffee made it perfectly clear that we would only be getting 1 side of milk that we could share. Not that I mind sharing it, most times that is how it works. We enjoyed the food and tipped well. Because the food was so good, we decided to try our luck again. This time we did not even make it through the door. With a formidable storm, torrential downpours, and 50mph gust of winds the staff decided it had to take their time in reattaching a chain to the door then letting us inside. After we stood in the the rain/wind for two minutes as the staff watched on as we became saturated we decided to go somewhere a little more "welcoming".
