I am so pleased with myself that I chose The Casual Gourmet to cater a reception following a memorial service. It couldn't have worked out any better. A really good decision was having the server come. I didn't have to worry about anything. I was quite busy greeting people and the server did a wonderful job keeping the food table stocked, picking up people's used plates, etc. She also left the kitchen of the establishment immaculate and took the garbage with her. The food was fabulous! There were only 3 goodies left on the platter at the end. I was disappointed I didn't have more leftovers to take home with me, but it meant that everyone enjoyed themselves and had plenty to eat. So happy! We did a very small Covid wedding on NYE and wanted a simple one tier cake for the occasion. Marcy was so fantastic to work with- sent her some ideas of what we were looking for and were blown away by the gorgeous little cake and the beautiful sugar work flower! I'm so happy we went with Casual Gourmet for our wedding cake and desserts! I was getting fed up going to different bakeries and feeling that the tastes were bland and the presentation was mediocre. We really wanted a small ceremonial cake, cupcakes and pastries. When we went to the cake tasting I was quickly impressed with their professionalism AND THE FILLINGS! I loved the Rasberry jam, salted Carmel and the Rasberry mousse filling! Their EVERYTHING cookies are so yummy and all the pastries were perfect! They were easy to work with, didn't give me a run around with prices and all of our guests were impressed! Whenever I am on the cape they will be my go to place for desserts! UNBELIEVABLE!! That is the only word that comes to mind when I think of what it was like to work with The Casual Gourmet. From start to finish, we were "wowed" by the professionalism, knowledge, and creativity of this amazing company. The food itself was to die for. I guess that you can't go wrong with grilled lobster and tenderloin, but the presentation was phenomenal. Our guests are RAVING about the food AND the service. The staff was attentive, courteous, and fun. The people behind the operation, Olive and Mary (sisters), have extensive experience in the industry and work to make sure that every detail is covered. Mary even came to our rehearsal to make sure that everything would run smoothly! She was the backbone of the wedding day, providing instruction to the band and other vendors. This is not enough stars! Casual Gourmet just did our wedding of 169 people. The food, staff and especially Olive were amazing. The food (scallops and beef tenderloin for the main course) were all perfectly cooked and served hot! We received countless compliments about the food and it was said over and over that it was the best wedding food ever consumed! I can't be more happier about Olive and Casual Gourmet. If you are from the Cape and you need a party catered you know to call The Casual Gourmet! I got married this past weekend and hired them to cater it. I didn't realize that with the catering that they also gave you a wedding packet to help you plan everything from tents to photography. They are really understand how daunting planning a wedding can be. I originally wasn't going to have the Casual Gourmet make my wedding cake, not because it wasn't good because its the best cake on the Cape, but because I had won a free wedding cake. The Wednesday before my Saturday wedding, I received a call just making sure when the other cake was going to arrive and who the bakery was. When I told them they explained to me that I might want to go over to the bakery because they went out of business!!!! I was obviously freaking out but then decided that I couldn't trust this bakery so I asked Casual if there was enough time to add 2 cakes to my order (we had a grooms cake) they said that it was no problem. Not only is the food amazing, but they are completely understanding that problems occur and they can take care of it all! Working with them was completely stress free and easy! If you need a caterer for your event they are completely worth every penny!!! read more

I would NOT recommend to work here at all. I was laid off without any notice and cannot receive unemployment and now I'm stuck with no job since I left my other job. I have no type of income and have been applying like crazy. This was NOT right at all. They told me there was no hours but yet they can hire more people when supposedly they have no hours. This is going to sound a lot like Jackie's review! From start to finish, Casual Gourmet was a dream to work with. We hired them after having essentially every single other wedding vendor and venue we talked to recommend them, and after meeting with them and seeing how nice they were! The easiest way to review them is probably to talk about each stage of working with them: General process - smooth and painless. We set up an appointment to talk about our rough ideas for wedding plans. Casual then sent us different buffet and station menus, hors d'oeurves menus, etc. along with a very clear breakdown of prices and services. Any time throughout the process that we made a change (adding linens, changing food, changing numbers) they sent an updated summary. Mary and Sarah, whom we worked with the most (Mary coordinated our actual day) were phenomenal at answering questions, and they were both very patient with us, even when we asked a LOT of questions! Also, we fully intended to spend the bulk of our budget on catering, and we did, but we felt the prices were very fair for the amazing food and the very hands-on service we got. They also let us use our own cake and buy our own alcohol while letting us pay just for bartenders, glasses, ice, etc. That was pretty amazing. Tasting - we settled on stations, and then we picked the things we wanted to taste. Even though we were going to have stations, which meant some things would be made to order, they were able to make up sample dishes of everything. Casual was also very nice about letting us bring quite a few people with us! The tasting was fun, but didn't drag on, and as a bonus they packed up all the leftovers for us to take home! Food - amazing. And it was even better at the wedding itself than at the tasting, despite having to make it for more people! We made sure we got time to sit at our table and actually eat, and I am so glad we did. People were raving about the food - our favorites were the tenderloin at the carving station (which was a sweet upgrade from them from the sirloin), the risotto station, and the passed hors d'oeurves: the beef and chive popovers, the lobster with tobiko, the bacon-wrapped scallops...ok, I am going to list everything if I don't stop! Everything tasted fresh and creative without being creative for creativity's sake. They are very willing to mix-and-match stations from different sample menus, which was awesome. Staff/coordination - Casual also acts as your day-of coordinator to some extent, and Mary was amazing at this. She worked with all of our vendors and us to come up with a detailed day-of timeline, and she kept things moving. She ran through our rehearsal with us, and she made sure all my flowers and decorations got set out where they needed to be (I DIY'ed a lot of stuff, dropped it off at the venue, and it magically appeared in place for the reception). The staff was all great - friendly, kept things moving, and good at getting food to me :) They are great with the little touches, too - like, each server carries a basket for your used spoons/napkins/toothpicks. I really cannot say enough good things about working with Casual Gourmet. Wedding planning can be a little stressful, but it was never stressful to ask them a question, because they were so good at coming back with solutions, suggestions, and explanations that were very calming. I hope we get to work with them again someday, and I recommend them for any event, but especially for a wedding! read more

I need WAY more stars than this! The Casual Gourmet is absolutely amazing. I can't say enough good things about them. They did the catering for our wedding of 130 people at a tented, outdoor wedding on the water. From the first time we started working with them, they were exceptional. Throughout the process we worked with Mary, Kelly and Olive. All three are top-notch. They work their magic with professionalism, poise and they truly care about their clients and are committed to their work. The food was UNREAL. Our tasting was fully plated, absolutely delicious and every single appetizer was better than the next. We went with the beef tenderloin and seared scallops for our main and the caprese stack for a salad. Short rib wrapped in bacon was the hit of the evening on the appetizer side. The cake was perfect and exactly what we wanted. We tried a few different cake options and honestly, every combination was awesome. Thank you for making our wedding day so special. It's no wonder all of the previous reviews are just like mine :). If you're doing a cape cod wedding or event, look no further. I might have to come back and write more later! I came to this location to talk to them about catering as a few people recommend them as pretty good caterers. I found the place to be understaffed and rather harried. There was a rather abrupt rude lady who seemed to be in charge. She was very condescending to the workers (this is a HUGE turn off to me). I did not like this so I left. Later I tried the location at the mall. I was glad I did not do business with this place. I found the food to be average and over priced. read more
