I've always bought spinach and feta minis (turnovers?) at the Haverhill Market Baskets; My very favorite way to eat spinach, and perfect size, one for each of us. I bought my spinach feta pie at Publix on sale! Made it in my convection oven today.. It's very good. Good quality and tasty. Baked at350 degrees for 90 minutes and I let it rest for 30 minutes. I will say for $12.00 I would buy it and keep it in my freezer for when I work 5 days in a row-12 hour days . It's a very tasty option for me to have 5 meals ready. But I can make it for $$5.00. I understand why they charge so much but it does have very unhealthy ingredients to preserve it! Really! It's pie crust, spinach, dill, basil, egg and feta( i would add ricotta too). We saw a display of thse pies at our local supermarket for the first time while shopping Monday. A Spinach and Feta pie went in the basket, then was on the table that very night. Bought a frozen chicken pie and made it as directed. At correct temperature checked with thermometer, the pie crust looked good but inside was a disaster. I've been dying to try this place and we finally made it on a trip to Cape Cod. I had seen Oprah had listed it as her favorite things a couple times and according to a sign in the pie store the travel channel did a piece on them too. We went on a Thursday afternoon. There are a LOT of pies in this store. There was a freezer filled with frozen ready to bake savory pies (meat, chicken etc) and a freezer with ready to bake sweet pies. There was a refrigerated cooler with cream pies and a case of ready to eat pies (apple, cherry etc). Because we were a couple hours from home without any cooler big enough for pies we decided to get a ready to eat cherry pie to eat at home. The pie was good. But, it wasn't any $20. good!! Yes, this skinny little pie cost $20.00!!!! They were very cheap on the filling and I've gotten way better cherry pies for $11.00 from local bakers. I struggled between 2 and 3 stars. I was going to give 3, but decided for the price it definitely wasn't worth it. It was good, but not worth it. I won't go back. read more

Wow! Where to begin? Ran in the other day while I was visiting Centerville and thought I would pick up a pie..something quick one night for dinner. First of all, the prices are ridiculous for what you get. The pie hardly had any chicken or vegetables in it..there was a big thick crust (which tasted good), but I would have rather had a thinner crust and more filling! Also, it didn't taste the same as in the past..I haven't had one for a year or so and they must have changed the recipe. Not good! The Service? The people behind the counter were not friendly..tried to make small talk, and they looked at me like I had 2 heads. I will NOT be going back. Highly overrated! The pies are expensive and very average at best. I've had better fruit pies from a supermarket. The all berry/mixed fruit filling truly tasted like it came from a can! I had a chicken pot pie and it was not very good, but most importantly, when i reviewed the ingredient list, it is a disaster, especially hydrogenated oils...just about the worst thing ever. It looked good while cooking, but in the end it tasted bad to me, there was little chicken and were very dark almost black chunks of chicken, the pie was over filled with peas they seemed to be the main ingredient. The crusts alone tell a sad story of this brand's current state. Their wonderful restaurant and homemade pies were once a darling on upper Cape Cod. The peach pie we ordered tasted like it was ordinary canned fruit. The lemon merenge and coconut pies were now nothing to write home about with doughy gross crusts. It was better than I was expecting, but I guess everybody likes their own signature pot pies better. (In the South, you'll often find the addition of sauteed onions, chunks of potato, more black pepper and just a little more gravy with at least a few tablespoons of butter added). They still tout themselves as one of Oprah's favorite things, which happened first over 12 years ago and last over 5 years ago. The staff was very friendly. The pies come three different ways. Order ahead of time for hot pies, go-in and see if they have one variety of hot pies available, or buy the always-there frozen pies. The pies taste okay. They are not all-natural (lots of preservatives, MSG, etc.) nor made on the premises. The chicken pie, their flagship pie, has no veggies in it. I called later to ask why, and they said they had so many complaints about the lack of vegetables in the pie, they made a new variety with the vegetables. I wish they had informed us about this before we purchased the plain pie. We would go back; it's a nice change of pace for dinner every once in a great while. I would beg they go all-natural, especially when they bake the pies same-day or have them in the storefront freshly frozen. This store makes a wonderful pie. Our family favorites are the Shepherds Pies and the Spinach Feta Pies. My boyfriend got a Peanut Butter cookie on the way out and he wished he got a half dozen. It had crust. That's honestly all I have. It took way too long. Even then, I had to put it back in.....you know adjust for indiv. ovens. The gravy, was soooo runny after another 30 minutes....it was so bland, and I didn't see enough veggies. Even if.... it was way too bland. The owners and staff are so kind and generous and make you feel right at home while you decide what treats to bring home. This is the best chicken pie ever. You are paying for meat. Not cheap veggies. Buy a frozen pot pie from banquet if you want that. Or buy a sack of veg if you must need it on the side. I will stick to cranberry sauce. This is the best New England chicken pie you can buy. Fabulous. The people in shop are wonderful too. Call ahead if you want hot baked pies. Stopped here on a Friday morning to pick up some chicken pie and something sweet. We opted for the blueberry pie and the cape cod crunch pie. The chicken pie: got it frozen to have later. I was looking through the ingredients and was shocked to see that there were no vegetables. I was very disappointed to see this but was going to the grocery store later and decided to pick up a bag of mixed veggies (carrots, peas, corn, green beans). I mixed the veggies with my helping of the pie and it was delicious. The pie itself was moist and the chicken was melt-in-your-mouth good. The crust was delicious and flaky and just YUM. I can see how some people could enjoy the pie without the veggies but I grew up with veggies in my chicken pot pie and it adds a lot of flavor. So big tip is to buy a .99 cent bag of frozen veggies to have with the pie if you bring it home! The sweet pie: the cape cod crunch pie was absolutely amazing. Seriously, this is one of the best chocolate pies I've ever had. Incredibly light yet decadent. The toffee adds the perfect amount of crunch. Make sure to keep it in the fridge! The blueberry pie was nothing to write home about but it was tasty and refreshing. I wish the filling was juicier because it's basically just sweetened-up blueberries. It has pro's and cons. PRO: THAT CLAM PIE. Con - the chicken pie was way too salty as was the gravy. PRO: THE DANG CRUST! Will I mail order? YES. Will I stop again on my way back from the cape with more pies (clam pie totally!). ABSOLUTELY. I just think they may have had a salty batch.
