We love stopping here from time to time and sometimes week to week! The "Drink of the Week" is always something to consider. The bartenders there do not disappoint. For appetizers or small plates - our go to is the Pickle Straws. This creation is ridiculous and a MUST. The menu is always changing for "NEW" seasonal suggestions. CST has the best meatloaf around - hands down. Better than moms. Fresh all the time. Why? They don't have a choice - they have no freezer. Other amazing options - their salads, the apple/pecan and the wedge. Try the crab soup - it's soooo smooth and delightful. The Be Square and the Tavern burger, the steak tips and the Pot Pie. I just want to update my CST review to share that we chose to host my dad's funeral repast here over the weekend. I worked with Larry to set up the reservation, and he was extremely kind and sympathetic to the situation. Our server was great, the food arrived efficiently, and our 20 guests ALL raved about it. By far one of the worst meals that I have ever eaten. My friend and I both got the nachos, me without any meat, her with chicken. The waitress said people share it, which I don't know how since it's smaller than she described and expected for $14. The chips were the saltiest things that I have ever tasted. The queso or whatever sauce they put on it was disgusting. My friend agreed that the sauce was weird tasting and not enjoyable. The Be Square burger was perfect! Usually when I order a burger at a pub, several things go horribly wrong and I never return. CST got all of them RIGHT. So I will return next week! 1) The burger was tasty and cooked to order (medium), succulent, and appeared to be an in-house blend or premium prepared patty, not the usual dry, tasteless puck. 2) Everything I ordered came with the presentation: condiments, salt, pepper, knife, fork, napkin. Simple, I know, but you can't imagine how many restauranteurs don't train their staff to pay attention to these small details. I don't want to ask 3 times, hear I'm sorry, or we're understaffed. 3) CST makes delicious French fries. If I want frozen fries or spuds that just fell off the back of a truck I'll go to a fast food restaurant. 4) The local craft beer on tap is good. I had an excellent experience on my first visit to Center Square Tavern - the food and service were both excellent. I'll certainly return.

It has been on my to try list. It wasn't bad, it wasn't great. It was 12:00 noon for lunch service. One other diner was with me. Slow to start. Let us know where they source foods from and which farms. Didn't like that the waitress tried to say they are a legit farm to table unlike others. Diner 1: CST turkey gobbler with homemade chips. Roll quickly got soggy, it was toasted but wasn't able to keep the bread from getting soggy. I could taste the orange in the cranberry. Wish the turkey was sliced thinner. Homemade chips were good. $13.99. Diner 2: burger & fries. Opted not to add cheese since the up charge was $2. Cooked to order at medium. The burger was also $13.49! Diner was pleased with the burger. It did take a decent amount of time for the food to come. It was moderately filled with patrons. Would go back but not first on my to go list. read more

The staff is attentive and accommodating, and they look like they're having fun as well. For a non-Italian restaurant they have an excellent chicken Parmesan And a good selection of pasta. This is it y'all! This is the best food in The Swedesboro area. Literally delicious. I would eat this food every week if it wasn't a recession. For the appetizer we order the cornbread. It was absolutely delicious. The next time I will get it with regular butter. The butter that comes with it has some seasoning on it that I did not prefer. The young lady who I believe is the manager she informed that she has kids that are 21 and 24, sas so sweet and graceful to our children who were very busy moving throughout the booth. Our waitress was very nice as well. I ordered the Drink of the week which was a blueberry vodka drink. Absolutely phenomenal. We ordered the children the chicken nuggets and fries. Although the chicken wasn't seasoned, the french fries was so good I had to stop myself from eating my children's food lol. The fries were so good my girls also ask me to stop eating their fries. LOL. I ordered the seafood pasta with the recommendation from the waitress. My goodness y'al,l that pasta was delicious. It was so good I got mad that I forgot it was in my refrigerator to eat for leftovers. I was sure to have it for breakfast once I remember. I was just as good 2 days later. The dish gives you so much crab meat on top, I don't know how they are making money off such a delicious meal. The shrimp was large. The sauce taste homemade. The vegetables are seasoned properly. It was a tad much mushrooms but I can deal. My husband ordered the turkey burger and two turkey burgers and a full plate of chips came out. Definitely got bang for our buck. The mail came to $92 for two adults and two dollars. Which is good compared to another restaurant in the area that we ate at the day before and the bill was $150. After hearing mixed reviews from friends and family, we decided stopped by for lunch while in the area. The mixed reviews make sense to me. At best, this place is ok. Normally if I want a drink with lunch both my partner and I would opt for a beer. The craft selection here is quite limited - there were two, maybe three craft options on tap and all of them were 7.7% and higher - not really what I'm looking for with a quick bite in the late afternoon when we have plans for the evening and don't want anything too heavy. A larger craft selection would be appreciated in a place that calls itself a tavern. They did seem to have a fair selection of spirits behind the bar including some labels that we did not recognize, so maybe it's just that liquor is more their thing. My partner ordered the BBQ Bacon burger, cooked medium. It came out medium well and somewhat (sloppily) overflowing with BBQ sauce. He enjoyed the flavor despite it being a bit overcooked for him, and he LOVED their fries. I tried a few - the batter is pretty good! I tried the Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak wrap with chips - anything with buffchic and I'm here for it. Again, this was kinda sloppy. The sauce was delicious (good blend of buffalo & bleu cheese), but it was everywhere. It just couldn't stay in the wrap, which was a pretty plain flour tortilla. Additionally, the chicken was not my favorite. I would expect cheesesteak chicken to be shredded or pulled or something steak like, but this was large chunks of chicken just thrown into the tortilla with the sauce. Not my style, and it made for messier eating. As much as the wrap did not wow me, I must applaud them for the chips - delicious, perfectly sliced and made-to-order. We sat at the bar and while our bartender/server was friendly, he kept disappearing. It was a pretty slow afternoon, especially for bar service based on the crowd, but he didn't really seem to check in on us. The restaurant seems clean and they have a small outdoor space that might be nice in the summer, but we don't feel a need to come back. It's a bit overpriced for what it is. read more

We tried Center Square Tavern when they first opened. Thought the price for a cauliflower steak was a bit much at the time considering it wasn't very good. Haven't gone back for quite a few years so we thought we'd give it another try. We went to Center Square Tavern about week or so ago. We had another mediocre meal and we were still not impressed. I had a grilled chicken sandwich which the chicken hung outside the roll quite a bit. Wound up eating it open faced with a fork and knife. Actually commented to my husband that they should give you a steak knife, instead of a basic knife, because it wouldn't look as bad with all the 'sawing' I did to try to cut the chicken. My husband had a burger and wasn't impressed with that either. The waitstaff provided good service and was attentive but I don't think that's a good enough reason for us to return. This review is looong overdue... I've been to Center Square Tavern (CST as I like to call it) several times now since they opened, and each time has been absolutely phenomenal! Food, cocktails, and especially the service are impeccable! I've been here with my wife, friends (adults only), wife and daughter, and families...and CST is perfect for each one of these groups. While family friendly, it's also a great spot to just grab a drink (or several)! This place has private dining, a nice sized bar, plenty of seating, live music on certain nights, and an outdoor patio area. The wait staff is here is very nice and super attentive. Every dining experience has been great, but two that stick out are Kelly (my daughter absolutely LOVES her), and Madison (this gal ran across the entire parking lot after us because we left something behind). The bartenders here are awesome. Elizabeth always has some new spicy drink for my wife to try, Joey G is a man that can pour, and Kelly ensures your glass is never empty. The food here is incredible! CST has officially been crowned the Best Wings in South Jersey (by me)! Seriously. Too Hot is my absolute favorite--while it's definitely quite spicy, it is not overbearing and has an excellent flavor. The Executive Chef Dan Luber came out to meet us and see the "daring couple" that ordered them. All the dishes I've had here have been awesome--kudos to Dan for a job well done! Also, you'll see Dan roaming around the dining room speaking to the diners about the food and their experience--he's a great chef, but also a really nice guy! All in all, hit up CST if you're looking for great food and drinks with good vibes! Went here with a party of 6 people. Place is clean and decorated nicely. Food was great! I had the French Onion Soup and the Salmon. Others in my group had the pork chop, Mahi Mahi and filet tips. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Our table split the fried cookie dough and Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake for dessert. Fantastic! Price was very reasonable for all the food we got. We used to be frequent diners here but the cost of the kids meals has made it a place we won't go anymore. The food is good but not a place to bring your children. The cost of a kids Mac and cheese is $14 and it doesn't include a drink or anything. So my 6 yr olds meal was $18 with a milk which is outrageous! Wont be back! read more

We enjoyed our first visit here a few weeks ago. Nice selection of beers on tap, and almost everything we ordered was a hit and something I'd order again. The pork belly egg rolls were rich, and great to go with those cool beers on a hot summer night. I had to try the blackened shrimp risotto, curious to see how Italian risotto would go with blackened seasoning, pineapple and black beans, and was really pleasantly surprised by how good it was. My partner really enjoyed his chicken rigatoni which was a hearty serving of pasta with very tender chicken. We also had a bread pudding dessert to share that was excellent. The only "miss" that we sampled was the steak crostini. It could have been great but it was just so dry--the bread simply tasted stale instead of "toasted" and was too hard to be enjoyable. All in all, Center Square Tavern is a welcome addition to the area. I appreciate the emphasis on local and seasonal ingredients and hope they can keep up that commitment in the future. read more

Let me preface by saying I'm from south jersey but currently live in nyc. Came down for a visit and always down to try a new place. Came at the end of brunch and had the streak n eggs which was very flavorful... however the streak was dry and needed some sauce and there was no steak sauce. My friend had the burger and fries... those hand cut fries were amazing! The rest of the menu looked great. The brunch cocktails were fantastic. The bartender did not know much about the beer on tap. The short version - Ehh Detailed version - Visited for the first time tonight. We got chips and queso. It was the weirdest, blandest queso I've ever had. I don't even know how to describe it but was strange. The chips were good though. I ordered short rib mac and cheese. Again, so bland. It didn't even have a cheesy flavor let alone any seasoning. I don't know what kind of cheese they're using that has zero flavor. The only thing that gave some flavor was the fried onion strings. Without that it would have had the flavor of glue. I had to doctor it up with salt and pepper. I only managed to eat half and it was a small skillet. It is probably the most flavorless thing I've ever ordered anywhere. My husband got a blue cheese burger. It was slightly undercooked for him but not terrible. He said it tasted really good though and he would order that again. His fries were excellent. They were definitely the best part of our entire dinner. We definitely won't be back. Prices at Village Pub down the street are similar but the food is better. read more

Ordered the filet and specifically asked for no broccoli and asparagus instead. I cannot eat broccoli, period. I also was very specifically to be rare or medium rare, but fail to the rare side. I have an esophagus issue where dry meat will not go down. The meal came with broccoli which the owner said they have no asparagus, but failed to talk to the server who knew I could not eat broccoli. When I cut into the steak it was medium well. This is not the first time I got overcooked steak there. A professional chef who they claim to have should be able to cook a proper temp steak. I've been here a few times and want so badly to like it but it's just so average. Went today for Easter brunch. The table we were at was sticky. Like gross sticky. They apologized at said it was the varnish on the table. So get a table cloth if you know it's an issue. I do t want a sticky table. Service was pleasant but slow given it was not at all busy. And the food was average - it's eggs. How do you just do average with eggs?!! I've been for dinner, lunch and brunch and it's always just been ok. I am really torn by this place. It's clean, it's nice inside, the people are nice, but the food has not been a hit with me and the prices are way too high for everything. In the times I have been there I ordered French onion soup which was ok. I tried ordering a burger two times on two separate occasions. The first time I ordered it medium well and it was soaked in blood. The next time I ordered it it was way over cooked. Today I ordered the meatloaf. When I received it I realized why I have trouble with this place. On the menu it said meatloaf with mashed potatoes and I thought I saw what was meant to be gravy. When I got it it looked like two filet medallions on top of cauliflower. It really was meatloaf inside and they were potatoes but what they called mashed were under cooked as mashed potatoes. I did take a few bites and I got the undertones of good old meatloaf but I am not s fan of artistic license being taken on a classic dish. On the flip side, I am picky! My husband loves the shrimp and crab linguini with the added "Larry" special of scallops. My son enjoyed the French onion soup. My meatloaf became left overs for my husband. :( read more
