I knew I needed to get a massage, but I've tried a few places in Capitol Hill previously and the massages were not great. Thus, I expanded my search bubble and found Unwind AdMo, and I'm glad I did!!! Nina gave me the best massage I've ever had - her technique was amazing, I was never uncomfortable, she focused on the right spots to get those tight knots out, and she made me feel very comfortable. Pricing was right on par for DC too. I will always come to Unwind Wellness now - even though it's ~40 minutes by metro/walking away, compared to some local spots I could be at in 5 minutes. I'm even nervous to try their Unwind Navy Yard location...because I only want massages from Nina, she's that good.

If you're looking for massage therapists who actually do real work, this is the place. I've seen both Helen and Heajin, and they are exceptional in different but complementary ways. Helen is incredible for deep tissue, especially hip work. She goes deep, she's effective, and she is not afraid to work through tension. This is not a light, spa-style massage. It's therapeutic, intentional, and results-driven. Exactly what I want. Heajin specializes in Thai and lymphatic massage, and she is phenomenal. Thai massage is more like assisted stretching, and she incorporates it beautifully. She also took time to explain lymphatic flow, gave me tips on how to support it at home, and clearly cares about long-term wellbeing, not just the session itself. One thing to note: at Unwind, therapists may get on the table with you, especially for Thai or deep tissue work. That's part of the technique and something to be aware of if you're new to that style, but for me it speaks to how seriously they take proper body mechanics and effectiveness. The space is calm, professional, and welcoming, and the level of skill here is outstanding. If you want thoughtful, strong, therapeutic massage from practitioners who really know the body, I highly recommend Unwind.

I wish I remembered his name. When I got in, I filled out the form, and was greeted by my masseuse, who I think was named Evelyn. I am sometimes skeptical when smaller masseuses do deep tissue but Evelyn really got to the knots. I was trying to fight sleep the whole massage. When I go back, I will definitely ask for her again! When I got out of the massage, I had water and a coupon to the Cakeroom bakery waiting for me. This was such a nice treat and an amazing way to enter year 29. The price for a 60 minute massage is very fair for being right in the city, $130 before the discount, $110 with it (before gratuity). I have not tried any other services. Since I am a member of the gym, I knew it was located in the gym along with the hair salon and was not surprised by the entrance procedure. Rather, I was incredibly impressed by the tranquil environment they managed to create within the busy gym. Once you enter the space, there's dim mood lighting, relaxing music, water, and a separate bathroom. You wouldn't even know you're in the gym. I received a massage form one masseuse, thought it was good, and so I went back for a second with the same individual. The second time, I was deeply unimpressed. The whole experience was much more wholistic and caressing than a pressure-based massage--even after I requested more pressure. It didn't even feel like I had had a massage afterwards. So for my third session, I decided to try someone different: Ronnie. And Ronnie was amazing. He incorporated so many different techniques, including stretching, and threw in some extras like heat and aroma, even going a little over time. I would definitely book Ronnie again. It is a shame that there's no way to tell on the app (that I could see) what type of massage each masseuse specializes in, so you could select one who matches your preferences. My experiences with each masseuse were so different, and it seems a little silly that I would need to try them all before finding my favorite.

I had an appointment booked and was called the day of -- 4 hours before my actual appointment, to reschedule because they double booked. Had to cancel my plans for the evening to make it to the only late appointment available for rescheduling. The person who contacted me was rude along with the person who checked me out. I expected more from a spa that has a strict cancellation and rescheduling policy. Also, completed forms in advance that aren't used to inform the appointment. My package came with a beverage that I was never served. I had to ask about it as I was checking out and ended up just leaving it. It's unfortunate that I will not go back because the aesthetician and masseuse were great. Tipped them well because it's not their fault. I hope the spa improves its customer service and has consideration for client's time & displays appreciation for their business.

I booked a quickie 30-minute session right at Unwind's opening time, and Anna double-checked that I didn't need to finish by a specific time -- I work remotely, so no issues there, but I love the consideration. Our session never felt rushed, and it was the perfect length to address the specific sore spot I was dealing with on my back. It's difficult to find a massage-focused spot that offers 30-minute sessions in the first place, so the $70 (plus tip) was WELL worth it at Unwind!
