Awesome greek food! My father and I were looking for a good lunch, and initially looked at some other restaurants, yet all were closed. We decided to try Cedar Tree as we'd never had it before. We were pleasantly surprised how great the food was!! We ordered a gyro platter and a lamb soulvalki with a side of grilled veggies. It came with soup or salad, so we started with the soup which was lemon orzo chicken soup, and it was delicious! Not too lemony, which I liked and it was nice and hot. They also gave us a complimentary hummus starter with some pita and cucumbers, and the hummus was so fresh and drizzled with some great olive oil. The pita was fluffy and warm and also very fresh. Our main courses were delicious, and so was our side of greek fries. We asked for them extra crispy and boy did they deliver! They were perfectly crunchy and seasoned well. The gyro meet was also fresh and tasty, but the lamb was the star of the show. So tender and cooked perfectly. We will 100% be coming back!!! All must try. read more

If you're a vegetarian (one who cares about the ethics of animals and not just for dieting purposes) looking to do a to-go order, please always check your order before you leave. We ordered a falafel burger, and once we got home we took a bite and knew instantly (since we have never eaten meat in our lives) that the patty we were eating were not falafel. Later was confessed by staff to be lamb burgers. Infuriation is an understatement of how we felt. There were only a couple other people in the restaurant, so the blatant neglect and disregard of correct order (again this is not a simple error, it's meat being served to religious vegetarians) is an oversight that is not easily understandable. If a person has a deathly allergen that was served by accident instead of the correct order paid, "sorry" would not cut it. Moving forward, I hope they set up a system that would either allow the person preparing the food to avoid any mistakes, or the person gets help double checking the order, or they just have someone else prepare the food. Even a mere refund of money spent in this order does not compensate for the physically and emotionally distressing experience that was to ingest meat. read more

Ordered takeout and mostly enjoyed everything. For an app - I ordered the spinach pie and it could've been a little bit more crispier. Overall , it was still good. Entree - order a gyro meat pita. Tzatziki was excellent but the gyro should've been chopped a little more. Greek were amazing and the honey mustard for dipping was great! For dessert - ordered the tres leeches cake and it was not good at all. I don't even know how to describe the taste. I would suggest not ordering it. Besides mixing my order up and me also almost leaving without the large quantities of food I was so supposed to bring home. They apologized and apology accepted. The food was truly authentic Greek good very close to my grandmother's cooking. Especiallythe spanakopita and rice pudding was like mother's. How could that be? Amazingly delicious. The lamb was tender and mouth watering and juicy. Not gamey or chewy at all! Lol (which can be, if not prepared right. This is my go-to place for gyros - once every month at mininum. I've tried multiple Greek/Mediterranean spots in North NJ and nothing (so far) beats this restaurant in terms of flavor and value. Sparta gyro pita sandwich is my favorite - warm pita, nicely spiced gyro meat, crispy fries and onions for texture + chipotle sauce & tzatziki to add additional flavor. Their hummus & eggplant dips are great for sharing as well. I honestly don't know how this restaurant has not raised its prices given the insane inflation (Mar. 2022). You can have a great meal for 2 people for ~$30. I'd still go even if it was more expensive, so hope this restaurant continues what it's doing. read more

Much like the other reviewer, I have also been ordering from this location since it was known as Sparta Taverna, however I have not experienced any drop-off is quality whatsoever. My wife and I order from Cedar Tree at least once a week and have NEVER had a meal that was anything less than stellar. The woman who answers the phone (Anna) could not be any nicer or accommodating and the delivery orders are always quick and accurate. As for the food... Their Greek Salad with grilled chicken is consistently the best I've had, with fresh stuffed grape leaves and perfectly-seasoned chicken - not to mention that they always use the appropriate amount of dressing. Their souvlaki is flavorful and never oily, unlike some others I've had. The pita is always tasty and fresh and they have a unique chipotle sauce that kicks up the flavor on any of their sandwiches or French fires. You won't go wrong with Cedar Tree! read more

The steak pita sandwich - the steak was so chewy I couldn't eat a single piece of it. Chicken Francese - DONT GET IT! The chicken has a weird rubber texture and tastes like it's pumped with artificial flavor. I couldn't get more than 2 bites in. in the pic you can see it's a weird, not chicken-like texture. Good for a quick grab but I'm not a fan of the frozen Gyro meat slices. I like when the meat is carved off the spit. You can clearly tell it's not real since all the slices are the same size, perfectly rounded on both ends. Fries are good though. read more

Five stars isn't enough! This place is #1 in all of Northern New Jersey. Most people will refer to the Greek Village as the best, but the Cedar Tree has them beat by a long shot! She takes the time to ensure that the order is correct by reading it back to you and the order is always 100% correct. I usually don't leave bad reviews but tonight's event leaves me no choice. Also this might not happen to you. But tonight was a horrible experience. After we placed our order the waitress as well as the owners totally ignored us. About 1/2 after our order they brought us a soup which came with one of the dishes we ordered. The appetizer had not even made it to the table. After I asked to please bring us our appetizers I was told that they had already informed the kitchen. Again nothing happened. After waiting another 15 minutes I went up to the counter again, which was very busy with people picking up their take out orders, I asked again to please bring us our food. We had now been waiting for an hour. Finally the appetizer came and we were told that the kitchen had not received our order. So what happened 1/2 hour ago when they spoke to the kitchen? Suddenly one of the customers picking up her food came to us yelling why we were so impatient. Still no word from the owners or anyone when we would get our food. Even though other tables were being served we were completely ignored. After the alteration we decided to leave foregoing a night out and a nice dinner we had looked forward to. The experience from the moment I walked to Cedar Tree Mediterranean was so warm. The hug times during Covid 19 I felt at home. The waiter an elderly man from Columbia was so kind and relaxed. He was patient with my 16yr old who had specula fixations in terms of what she wanted. He knew exactly how to accommodate us. While waiting for the food brought us a sample of homemade Hoummous. In turn I found out there was mint and red pepper too. Delicious!!! I had the best grilled octopus salad ever. I was married to a Greek man for 30yrs. I visited Greece but this topped it off.
