Art in 'pieces' Usually, a wonderful shopping experience until art purchase. Review is for co-owner - Christie L. In store first wk Dec 2024. Saw MQuan Art ceramic hanging in store. Store would not sell display piece. Ordered, paid, and told not refundable. Piece greater than 2K plus shipping. Worked with manager, Cori, who stated piece would be over 2 months in receiving and first shipped to Cedar & Hyde for 'inspection' then to us out of state. Asked for art photo prior to sending as it was a ceramic piece and wanted same colors,etc as store display - and, it was art paid for. Four months passed, contacted store first time to check on piece April 2025. Had not heard anything from store prior. Finally, heard back, piece 'being made'. Received art directly from artist in NY and charged $75 for shipping. Art was in 'pieces' and was to be assembled by us according to instructions and 'number'. This was neither conveyed in store at time of purchase, prior to shipping or by store email. Picture sent by store/artist prior to shipping showed art assembled as in store. Note this is a fragile assembly of ceramic discs of varying colors. If damaged by us in assembly, would be ruined and non refundable. After numerous curt emails with C & H owner, Christie, refusing return of piece and her misrepresentation of art, need for assembly and no 'inspection', she asked the artist to refund piece and also offered 'someone'of our choice to assemble the piece for us at her cost? Eventually, I returned the art to the artist at a cost of $80 that C&H, Christie, would not cover. Christie, agreed to credit art(only) from artist, when disassembled art received 'undamaged'. We buy art globally & have shipped. This was the most difficult experience and rude store owner we've ever encountered. We're out $80 through this entire experience. Never do business at this store - especially if you're expecting integrity, quality and customer service. Store in Boulder CO. Owner from KS. Art is a large piece, yet easily shipped in tact with proper art packing and charge of $75.This email was Christie's last response to requesting $80 return shipping fee: Remember, it was also up to us to find an 'assembler'... Owner will respond "it was all on us as buyers to assemble and take responsibility it wasn't damaged in doing so." Hi Beth, We will not be refunding you the $80 you paid to send the piece back. There was nothing wrong with the piece. We made an exception to give you a refund on a special order, which is not our policy. We paid the $75 to get it to you, which is not our policy. TL;DR: Shop elsewhere. Pettiness loses business. You can view at this as a failed "mystery shopper" experience, because that's what it felt like to me. I really wanted to like this store, but the negatives were just too overwhelming. The young gals at the shop were very snooty and didn't bother to acknowledge me being in their store. Like, nothing! I know they saw me, but there was zero acknowledgement. I was vacationing so I had plenty of money to spend, however it was evident by their behavior that they didn't want me there. It was unfortunate. The visit was uncomfortable and unprofessional, and therefore I wouldn't recommend this lackluster store to anyone. (Out of all the shops we went into, the service here was by far the absolute worst.) I'm guessing their lame, "selective" service is why the store was otherwise empty.... I'm unable to hand them a (rightly deserved) zero star, so one star it is. read more

Great products, outrageous prices and snooty, hoity toity service. Apparently you're only supposed to shop here if you have a "million dollar bathroom." I was commenting on the toilet brush being $100 and that's basically what I was told ( I mean, c'mon now, everyone's toilets contain the same priceless contents, whether it's a million dollar bathroom or not). We pop into this store because it's the closest stockist of Aesop around but I felt like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman shopping here. If you want to be treated like you're a pauper and like you don't deserve to shop at this store, definitely stop by, otherwise avoid it like the plague. Once again Cedar & Hyde makes me the hero! I just remembered that Valentine's Day is tomorrow and I haven't gotten anything for my wife. She wasn't expecting anything and would be happy with some flowers or a card. I stopped into Cedar & Hyde and they helped me "a guy who doesn't understand how to buy clothes for women", find the most amazing, beautiful, soft, wonderful, sweater/coat. My wife was blown away. Rude, pejorative, and insufferable! I wrote a factual review of my experience at Cedar and Hyde and they had the review removed. Y'all, they didn't like the truth bombs. Fact: Prior to my last order, I always had a pleasant experience at their store. Fact: They shipped out a damaged item yet, the proceeded to tell me it was the style of the designer. Yeah seriously, they gave me a lecture on how to wear a specific designer. Fact: They called to apologize for the insufferable and rude AF email that their employee sent, but more importantly they needed to reassure me that her intent wasn't to be pejorative. According to the general manager, this email responder is a rather nice person. (Note: I never named that employee or reposted the inappropriate email she sent me. ) Fact: I told them that I wrote an honest, but brutal review of their business and my experience, prior to the GM ringing me. Fact: the return policy, in this case, didn't clearly list the item as "final sale" and even if it did, the item is damaged. We can agree to disagree and maybe it was an IT oversight. Fact: I have bought Final Sale items sans issue and the items are clearly denoted as Final Sale! Fact: Pleasant enough conversation with the GM, who offered up tons of apologies and nonsensical, wish we could make you happy, but we are really just don't give a fig. Fact: I will always support small business, but I will no longer support this one! Fact: I disregarded all the other 1 star reviews and I should not have. That is on me! This is my dream store. Like everything I'd ever want in life and my home, it's here. While some items are out of my price range ($500+). The textiles and fabrics and curated home goods are luxurious. It's everything a Taurus would want. My boyfriend and I found a few fabulous items like coasters, new linen towels, cards, etc. It's a must-stop if you're in Boulder. The space is beautiful! There's men's and women's clothing, gorgeous leather bags and shoes, home goods, carpets, gifts, jewelry, etc. The owners of the shop did a fabulous job. One of my favorite shopping stops on this trip for sure. read more

Cedar & Hyde offers a well curated selection of quality clothing for everyone! I love visiting the store to check in on some of my favorite brands and check out new brands. A lot of the brands Cedar & Hyde carry are not readily available in stores, so it is awesome to be able to try on and touch pieces of clothing. They have a great range of casual to fancy items. The atmosphere is warm and invites you to take your time to explore the store. The staff is friendly and very helpful in answering questions or putting together an outfit. While the price may be on the high side, the quality is worth it. read more

Cedar and Hyde is an exceptionally beautiful and well curated shop! This place is near and dear to my heart for many reasons, but the primary one being the exceptional customer service and warm demeanor of all involved. I've purchased quite a few oxford style shirts here over the years; they've all aged beautifully and paid for themselves several times over by this point. The owners themselves are charming and knowledgeable as the day is long and do much to encourage the delightful atmosphere there. It has been awhile since I visited, but being a business owner myself, I decided today to set out and write reviews for all of my favorite businesses in Colorado - This shop was one of the first to come to mind. I can't believe this store is within four blocks of my house and I didn't discover it until today! First of all, it is aesthetically marvelous. The colors of all products, dry goods, clothing...all are within my calm, classic color palette. Items are truly Best in Class, eg the towels are the finest Japanese cotton, clothing lines are superior to so many other boutique lines. Everything is unique, so this is that PERFECT GIFT SHOP. What do you buy for the man, woman or child who has everything? You'll find more than one extraordinary gift idea here. Take a close look at the sculptures throughout the store...they are fascinating. Don't have anyone to shop for? Buy something for me please! Kidding. Unfortunately, we are not on the same page regarding some aspects of the interaction. Debating the matter would be a waste of time, but I will leave you with this: 1) There are actually several reviews of your store that mention the "pretentious" attitude on Yelp and other places. (My friends and I checked online to make sure that we were not being overly sensitive). 2) One of other friends went into your store the next day- she actually looked at the dress that our friend was going to purchase and your team literally did not acknowledge her. 3) The good news is that our friend found the aforementioned dress online for literally half of what you are selling it for. (You may recall the she asked for you to hold it, but you refused saying that it was "on your website"- it was not). Again, we absolutely loved your merchandise- you are clearly a stylish and talented team. (Candidly, this could have been the beginning of a beautiful retail relationship...we are the "loyal customer" type and get what inspires us from stores all over the world). However, you clearly don't need the business based upon your attitudes- congrats on that. This review is for the home section of their store. I've had multiple similar experiences to some of the previous reviews regarding the lack of customer service. This weekend was the final straw for me. Upon entering the store, I was not greeted, even though the guy working (lots of tattoos) saw me open the door and walk in. I was in the store for about 8 minutes total this time around, picking things up, smelling the lotions and candles, and had actually considered making a purchase because they do offer quite a few beautiful products at prices that won't break the wallet. They have WONDERFUL items, in fact. But I instead chose to leave empty-handed, and as I was walking out, the guy working (standing not even 3 feet away from the door by this point,) didn't say a single word to me. The entire time I was in the store, there was no hello, no "let me know if I can help you find anything," no "thanks for stopping in," no acknowledgement whatsoever of my presence. I may as well have been invisible. The level of dismissive pretentiousness that quietly screams from the staff here on a consistent basis is enough to make me never want to visit again, which is a real shame because I'm not one of the many tourists visiting Pearl Street for the day. I live a few blocks away, and would LOVE to spend my money here if they had even a basic level understanding of what customer service is. I keep coming in every few months thinking maybe I've just experienced an off-day (and maybe every day has been the case,) but where are these awesome owners I keep reading about? So I basically stalked this store and the super cool sisters that own it for the week I spent in Boulder (Spring 2017). I received stellar restaurant recommendations from Christie, and Poss brought me a matcha latte one afternoon while I was shopping. (How is that for personal service?) Both owners travel frequently to scope out new designs and designers and it shows in the beautiful and thoughtful collections in their store of dry goods, sundries, leather, housewares, etc., The merchandising in this boutique is also really special. And since the women that own it are totally rocking it, and fabulous for being authentically kind and stylish, you cannot help but to want to support their beautiful shop. When Cedar & Hyde opened its doors several years ago, the landscape of fashion in Boulder (and beyond) immediately changed, and in the best way possible. Shop owners Christie and Poss have thoughtfully curated fashion-forward clothing, footwear and other must-haves that are as beautiful as they are functional. When the two expanded their shop with a home store, the vision of beautiful and functional was applied to their curation and wonderfully so - the shop as a whole is truly a special place. But more lovely than the shop and the swoon-worthy products they carry, are the awesomely kind, hilarious and helpful people who work exceptionally hard to ensure all who enter their doors are treated like old friends. I distinctly remember my first visit to the shop nearly five years ago, when Poss greeted me. Her interaction with me beckoned me back and I've been a loyal customer ever since. Tried to order from this company online and was very disappointed. Instead of reaching out to me, which all my contact information was included to figure out what was mistyped they labeled it as fraud and cancelled my order. Annoyed at the rude email response I bought my things elsewhere, but I work in retail as a manager for over 15 years and I would always reach out to the customer to solve the issue. Never would I send them an email labeling them as fraud without having contacted them to solve the issue first. Terrible customer service, no matter how great the product is, you can find it elsewhere like I did. read more

What if I was looking for a candle?...It's fantastic that these ladies have "amazing style" and are "super cool", but they need to learn some etiquette. So many things I adore about Cedar & Hyde. I feel like I'm shopping with girlfriends when I'm in the store, everyone is engaging, sweet and ready to share a laugh. I love that there's always new amazing pieces and designers to discover. I love the thoughtful curation, they have a genius eye for both classic basics and cutting edge pieces that will be forever in my closet. The Cedar & Hyde Home Store next door is curated with the same attention to detail, it's a go-to in Boulder for me for gifts, textiles, bath products, rugs, glassware etc. I love how focused they are on helping me find just the right thing. I'm a believer that every client should be greeted and treated respectfully when you own a store, especially if you're the owner. I've been in Cedar & Hyde multiple times and I've been ignored every time by the owner - even when it was just the two of us in the entire store! I finally got fed up and called and complained. The response from the owner was not apologetic but rationalizing her behavior with excuses (she even recalled those times!), including one in which I was checking out with the one nice salesperson who always greets and helps me and the owner, for the one and only time, decided to get involved and talk to me in a condescending manner. I wanted to let a few weeks go before I wrote this review to assess if my feelings are fair - and I believe so especially looking at past reviews that complained about the same issue. I've decided that there are so many shopping opportunities in many other friendly and respectful stores that I will not be going back to this one. read more

Incredible store. I had read the reviews before a weekend trip to Boulder, but I never expected to find one of my favorite SF designers - First Rite - as well as many more that I have been tracking online, such as B Sides jeans. Basically all of my favorite, dream brands were in one place - at Cedar & Hyde. Everyone was extremely nice and really helpful. While there are some cute- albeit highly overpriced- items in the store, we were mostly ignored as we looked around. Until a young lady who worked there approached to let us know they have "larger sizes in the back." Rude! Cedar & Hyde has beautiful, creative pieces with extremely high prices. I have been into the store 4 or 5 times since they opened and have never felt welcomed. One time I was followed around by a sales woman as she readjusted anything that I touched. It is clearly a store for the monied elite and not for the rest of us. Funny thing is, if they were kind and welcoming, I might consider spending my hard earned dollars there. They must be doing well enough to decide whose money they want to take. read more

I walked in a few days ago and was not greeted upon entering, even though I was the only person in the store. I walked around for about 10 minutes looking at things without the woman behind the desk once asking me if I needed any help or saying a word. All she did was curtly answer a question I asked her directly about an item. No one else came into the store while I was there. I can see why. I will not be returning.
