This happy spot is easy to get to and is right on the corner. I noticed the place however never went inside. I finally went in for the special: 2 tacos, rice, beans and a can of soda and it was Delicious! I ate every mortal on plate! Location: corner of Van Nuys and Friar Parking could be challenging as it is street parking. Dining is inside or outside. Staff very knowledgeable. I'll large tv inside sharing Latin music. Lovely decor both inside and outside the place. I will definitely return. Cheers!~

We rolled into town late afternoon to celebrate a wedding anniversary and headed to Cecy's Taqueria truck that is usually in front of the Business Costco on Sherman Way. The truck wasn't there but we found out there was a brick and mortar location on Van Nuys Blvd in Van Nuys. We trekked over there and got the Al Pastor and Carnitas tacos I really liked and some Al Pastor nachos. I also ordered a side of rice, no bueno. The tacos at the Brick and Mortar location were just as good as the ones I got from the Food Truck. Both meats had good flavor and were moist. I ate them without any salsa, just onions and cilantro. The Mexican rice was a bit al dente and I had to drink water to eat the rice. The nachos were good and the chips tasted homemade. I'm happy to know if the truck isn't available I can hit the restaurant. Also the restaurant has a wider variety of choices such as Taquitos. I liked the truck and I liked the restaurant. I will be back next trip and plan to order the taquitos. If you want good Mexican tacos and nachos, roll by and stop in, the staff at both locations are nice. We were starving so I forgot to take pictures of the food but I did take pictures of the menu and the restaurant.

My wife and I enjoyed our chicken burrito and torta. Chicken was great grilled and tasty. Servers were so nice and accommodating. Small corner location. Only a few seats inside but they do have outdoor tables as well .

Cecy knows what's up... I kept seeing this place pop up and one day I gave it a chance. Let me tell you it has became one of my fav spots! Located on Vannuys close to Victory. Food: 5/5 I really enjoy their food it is very tasty and you get a good amount for the price. Their food is fresh and they make your tacos with hand made tortillas and melted cheese before your meat and toppings. Really good stuff. This is $$ money signs. Service: 5/5 They are really nice when I pick my order up. I don't dine in but I order ahead and pick up. Ambiance: I am not sure but it is a small spot with a couple of tables and chairs. The place looks pretty clean so I like that. Parking: Plenty of street parking. They don't have a parking lot that I have seen. With all that said I know what I am eating this weekend.

Great Mexican food truck outside of Costco! I honestly came to this truck because there was no line. There are a few competing trucks next to this one. Placed my order for 6 tacos - got two carne asada, two chicken and two el pastor. The guy was working by himself and was hustling to make the tacos and had no help. Felt bad because there was another lady waiting. Brought them home for me and the hubby. They were delicious and would come back to try more things!

Looking for a place to get something to eat while waiting for my car serviced at Subaru. As I was walking I stumbled upon this food truck and decided to try it. I ordered two carne asada tacos and I wasn't disappointed. The green salsa was good too! It's 3 dollars a taco which I guess is a lot for a food truck but the size is big which I think is fair and good service too.

I ordered here for the first time and got the carne asada fries and an horchata. The horchata was really good and the carne asada fries had really good flavor. My only critique would be for the fries to be a little crispier. But overall I think the portion you get is great for the price, and the lady that took my order was very sweet.

First time trying this taqueria. Small place, with cute decor, clean environment and friendly staff. The tacos were very tasty. I recommend the fish, shrimp and al pastor tacos. I will return for more.

I recently tried out El Cocinero's food at an event that they catered to. As a person who eats meat and is not restricted, I would come here for the good food. The vegan al pastor had chunks of pineapple and it is seasoned and cooked to taste just like the meat version. The texture is just a little bit different but it does resemble a lot like meat. The vegan pastor also tastes just like the meat version, just less "smoky" and the texture is softer. The rice is flavorful and fluffy. The beans are seasoned just enough to have flavor but not compete with the other dishes. The creamy chipotle sauce was perfect topping the rice and beans. I do like vegan food but the only reference I had with Mexican vegan are places that try to add fake cheese and lean heavily on beans and rice. This business shows that you can still have all the flavors and not rely on cheese and meat. They focus on the flavors and not what would make non-vegans feel comfortable. Initially, I was going to give this first time experience a 4 star review so that it encourages me to go check out the restaurant so I can add the service and the ambiance. However, I was lucky enough to bring home leftovers and as I was eating it, the food tastes better. Had to add the extra star!

First time at El cocinero, planning on coming back again and again and again!!!!!!!…read more I was informed it was all and everything is vegan which I love tacos and to find a vegan Mexican spot that is all vegan came in clutch. This place had everything you'd need and tastes so good for a vegan spot. You would be able to fool me and tell me this is actual meat and I'd believe it. That's how good it was! I got the quesadilla (half asada, half al pastor) omg that was the best thing I have ever had. The cheese melts and pulls just like regular Cheese. The meat was so juicy and good flavor. I'd get it again and again But I'd probably try the tacos next time along with the quesadilla tbh. I also got the flan which was tbh less sweeter than a regular flan. But hey I still loved it, I don't complain about it. It was still delicious. (Funny incident, I ordered the flan at the front and paid for it.i wasn't told anything else by the guy at the register. SoThen went back to the table and Waited and waited and waited for a good 20 minutes, till I asked about it and was told that I can just grab it out of the refrigerator!!!! Smh, as much as I was upset as much as I for some reason just found it funny. So don't do the same mistake I did and just go grab it right after you pay for it.) Overall, I loved everything and all the things about this place. Nice seating areas, nice environment , helpful workers, convenient parking! And most importantly, delicious food. Definitely be visiting this place again!

The salsas and guacamole complement my order excellently! I am giving two stars, however, for a couple of reasons. Firstly, at times, the amount of meat per taco or vampiro is minimal. In turn, at times, the amount of meat is very fair. So, consistency is lacking. Thus, effectively , you don't always get your money's worth. Secondly, I believe that they are understaffed or not prepared when business gets busy. For example, I recently stopped by on a Saturday at 10:30am for a couple of tacos. After waiting for ten minutes for someone to come to the window and provide some service, I was told that the wait time for anything that I order will be a minimum of 25 minutes because they have large online orders that they need to prepare. Obviously, I left. The employee was kind but appeared to also be a stressed out. Though I understand that online (DoorDash, GrubHub, etc...) orders are a reality in the world today, it is unfortunate that customers frequenting a business in-person would not be able to be served in a decent and timely manner. I recommend Tacos 1986 if you would like some good food. However, only go in-person if you know that you have, for sure, 25 minutes for a couple of street tacos. Otherwise, you may have to walk away while still hungry, like I did.

When I come here, I usually order the cheese enchiladas. They're the best I've ever had. Perfect flavor, cheesiness, and consistency (thickness/density). This time around, I decided to try out something different, the Carne Asada plate. It was fantastic. Usually, restaurants use cheaper cuts of meat like skirt or flank steak for their carne asada. Maybe I'm losing my mind, but the carne asada I had looked and tasted a lot like ribeye steak, which happens to be my favorite cut of beef. For my drink, I had the horchata like I normally do. The horchata here is something special. It's thicker and creamier than your average horchata and packs a cinnamon punch. The only knock on this place is the parking situation. There's limited parking relative to the size of the establishment. You may have to find street parking around the park nearby. But don't let something like that discourage you from checking this place out. This place is worth it. I drive up to the Valley from the South Bay just to visit this restaurant.
