We researched dozens of pool company recommendations, and after meeting with the top three, CDC stood out as the best choice. Rafael, our sales person, listened, made suggestions, asked questions, and was personable and easy to work with. He promised that CDC would be responsive, professional, and get the work done in a reasonable amount of time. Every single promise was kept. Every step was thoroughly communicated, the workers were on time, knowledgeable, and hard-working, and the job was done well within the anticipated time frame. Everyone was patient with our constant questions and they went over and above when making sure we understood the process. Our pool now has a new water leveler, new light, new tile edging, and sparkling new smooth Baja Quartz plaster. We couldn't be happier. I don't check Yelp very often and I just noticed the response I received from CDC. Are you kidding me? I explained two concerns in my complaint below: that I didn't get the upgraded color and that seven months goes by and CDC then tries to get more money from me. Look at the company response below. These are words to try and justify things or try to make the company seem like they were in the right or something. They didn't address my two points. I told them I didn't even get the upgrade and their response to me is that I was billed for the upgrade. Wow. They didn't even try to explain why seven months goes by before they try to get more money. How can that even happen? This is like a political response or something. This is the second time I used CDC pools to help remodel my backyard in NW Glendale. This time i had them put in about 600 square feet of pavers around my jacuzzi. The 2 other estimates I received from other companies were at least $2000 more than CDC. Since I'd used them before and was very satisfied with their craftsmanship, I went with them again. For the most part, they did a wonderful job on my backyard and pool removal/redesign 5 months ago. I asked them to round off the edge's on the travertine around the pool, and was told it would be done. 5 months later, I'm still waiting. We used CDC Pools to resurface our pool, pool deck and patio. The first thing to know is that their pricing is designed to encourage you to trade up to travertine pavers instead of cool deck and use their pebble product instead of plaster. The next thing to consider is that your salesperson will promise you the moon to make the sale, but do not expect to have it done unless it is specifically outlined in your contract. We wanted travertine and micro pebble, so the pricing schedule did not concern us. The tile recommended by CDC to go with our chosen pebble, however, did not complement as suggested when the pool was filled with water. We regret not staying with our original choice instead of taking CDC's recommendation. Also, representations made regarding the temperature to the touch and slipperiness of travertine versus cool deck were very misleading. We also ordered an all new filtration system... expressly stating that we wanted everything new. Believe it or not, we had to fight to get a new $10 pool leveler float installed and we still have a 30 year old (w/out of code circuit breaker) pool light. Not in the contract. A broken valve to the pool's water supply also had to be fought for, even though it was also expressly requested at the time of the estimate. Our largest concern is simply the poor quality of the work. Broken travertine pavers were installed without hesitation. We forced them to change out over 100 pavers!!! And those were only the most broken!!!!! Clearly the paver shipment was damaged. Our job supervisor was at best just lazy. We are still waiting for some grouting that was not done (insufficient tile was ordered and the second round of tiling was very poorly installed). When the warranty guy looked at a broken edging paver, still not fixed, he said, "oh, they shouldn't break this soon." Normally a good point, but in this case it was installed broken!!! And did we mention the pool surface has caused numerous abrasions to swimmers? A guy with a snorkel came out with a pad to smooth our surface. We are not optimistic. And did we mention existing stepping stones we had leading to the pool motor were not reinstalled and were found in a pile under a bush? I think you get the idea. A great disappointment all around. With no apology or price adjustment from CDC. There seems to be a huge communication issue between top management and what is going on in the field at CDC, or perhaps just a lack of caring in both camps. I read other recent Yelp reviews, with experiences so similar to ours, with interest. The end result for our project should eventually be fine due to our persistence and our refusal to pay the last little bit owed until the work is completed. With so many pool remodelers in the valley, why go through the frustration of dealing with CDC Pools? 08/26/2014 UPDATE: The "warranty repair," actually just completion of the original project, is still not done. Last Thursday, two guys showed up unannounced to replace a broken tile, but failed to grout it consistent with the rest of the pool. How predictable. And they were from the crew that we requested not work on our pool again. How typical. So we're still waiting. What prompted this update, however, is simply unbelievable. Leaving us bewildered. We received a phone message from CDC's controller indicating that they were going to put a lien on our property if we did not pay the $2,000 plus we still owe (on a $35,000 project) by Friday. A lien!!!! A threat!!!!!! Claiming they had been calling us for payment. They hadn't. We were simply waiting for the work to be completed. The threat of a lien when they have not completed the work and, if anything, should be calling with an apology and a partial refund! Does no one there talk to anyone else? Or do they just not care? Note we received the threat one day after a CDC response on Yelp offering to help and indicating that they had fired our project superintendent. What? It strikes me that the problems at CDC Pools are not going to be solved just by making one project superintendent a scapegoat. A property lien or a partial refund by Friday? Make your bets. I'll let you know. 09/05/2014 UPDATE: It's taken a while, but a crew of several workers came out today and completed all repairs we requested. That said, the quality of the project is not nearly what we expected (or were promised), but it's done. Thank you Yelp! This review helped prompt the reaction. Further, CDC wrote a letter of apology at my request (which I've posted) and verbally waived the small amount we still owed. A little worried that the promise was verbal given our history, but I chose to be optimistic. No warm and fuzzy feelings toward CDC. Every time I use the pool I see imperfections. CDC management did, however, finally step up and provide the best outcome we could hope for at this juncture. read more

We never signed an agreement and we never approved an estimate either we are simply extremely glad that we did not choose this company. I made an appointment about a week ago to get a quote on some very specific pool repairs. After getting the appointment, I got online to see reviews. They were a mixed bag of great and awful. I decided to go ahead with the quote and ask them about the reviews. Jason came today and began by telling me my pool was on the verge of needing a total facelift. I told him I would entertain a quote for a total makeover but I wanted the quote to show the work I wanted with his additional recommendations. He then told me CDC does not do tile replacement and the pebble tech rolled beam work I had specifically requested. I see now why they have the negative reviews. Working with CDC to remodel our 1960s-era diving pool was a smooth, hassle-free experience. Sales rep Jerry Herzog was patient and helpful throughout the process, giving us several options without ever putting a hard sell on us when it came to upgrades. He was especially patient when we spent hours in the CDC showroom choosing tiles for the waterline and our vintage water feature. When we weren't thrilled with the coping options, he procured samples he found in Houston and delivered them to our house, and he took us to a tile/paver facility in West Phoenix to help us make our decision. Project manager Ray Bazan kept us in the loop and never misled us or over-promised when it came to the timeline. He made sure the chip-out staff, the electricians and plumbers (we re-did ALL the 1960s plumbing around the pool), and the surface team (we went with Eco-FINISH; highly recommended) arrived when he said they would (give or take a day on occasion). After all was said and done, we were not totally satisfied with the grout work, so Jerry and Ray quickly rectified the situation, getting a grout specialist out to the house within a day or two to fix the flaws. I can't say enough about how wonderful CDC pools was for our remodeling project!!! Our pool was built in the 90s, before companies knew that pebble surfaces did not belong on a negative edge out of the water. We had a big chunk break off, so we knew that repair was in order, and decided to just go ahead and remodel. The tan color of the previous pebble surface made the water color look almost greenish and it just wasn't visually appealing. Cassie was beyond helpful and professional in helping us choose the materials for our new pool. We had previously gotten an estimate from another company and CDC's was far more reasonable. The demolition took place less than a week after we had signed the contract and the whole remodel from demo to filll was completed in less than 3 weeks. Sergio, the superintendent and every single worker that was here was beyond helpful, polite and respectful. Before and after photos posted here. Gotta go...the pool is calling me! Haha Next day update: Our equipment is older and has some strange little glitches to it, so the start up didn't go quite as smoothly as everyone would have liked. Ray was active in doing what needed to be done and bringing the project pieces together, he even stopped by himself to backwash the filter. I loved the ability to see the different surfaces in the water and compare the tiles in the showroom. The work was done a week sooner than expected, and we didn't miss the start of swimming season. The surface removal and install crews were fast and courteous when handling the project, I was given enough time to notify my neighbors when the process started and it often went faster than expected. Unfortunately, they are not good at returning phone calls o otherwise providing support with respect to the work they performed. Specifically, you have to call them multiple times to get a return phone call and then it takes weeks for someone to come out to fix your problem. The bottom line is that if you expect support after they do your pool remodel, you will be very disappointed in them. read more

They advertise a free month your second month. I started service in May 2020 at $100 per month. I called in June because the technician did not come out on the scheduled day. I gave them my credit card to pay for May and they charged me for May and June. No free month. In August they charged my credit card $220 for July and August. They raised the price without authorization or agreement. I called again in August. I explained that I had not received my free month. On September 1 I called and advised they were not authorized to charge my card and the owner hung up on me. I called and left numerous messages for the owner to call me back. He blocked my calls and the service stopped. No call, no apology, no free month, absolutely no customer service. Run! read more

Communication: Make sure you are prepared to stay on top of them. Communication is terrible. They talk up their communication, even have a printout talking how important it is. They will then proceed to leave you in the lurch and leave you to wonder what is happening next. We just wanted some time estimates and this was too much for them. They kept telling us it takes three weeks, until that passed and then wouldn't communicate further. They wouldn't even tell us when they arrived and would walk in the back yard unannounced, dogs barking at them and all. Our foreman and salesman both were put out when we would attempt contact once a week to get a status. Chip Out: The chip out went rather smoothly. They did, however, chip a tile and this was reported many times to the foreman. The tiles is still un-repaired. We had some "hollow" areas in the pool and was quoted a reasonable amount by their inspector and then the foreman. The salesman comes back with numbers 4 times the amount estimated by the two other people. They wanted almost $5k to flash 2" of concrete over the bottom of the pool. We opted for a cheaper fix and they came in with less than a bag of concrete and literally just dropped in on the bad spot. I complained that I could have done this same job for the cost of a bag of concrete and they stated that their $1400 fix was reasonable for this type of work. They had no clue what was actually completed as they had hired a third party to complete this. We complained and they knocked $600 off this and tried to make us feel like this was a good deal. Install: Day of was smooth and done quicker then I thought. They mostly cleaned up but left blue splatters from the pebble-tech finish on our paver patio. They created some sort of mixer on the side of our house and there were blue splatters on our windows and stucco which had to be cleaned by hand. They also left a mess in our rocks on the side of the house. I had to chip out some hardened finish from our gravel and I will have to do touch up paint on our block wall and there is something that splattered that isn't washing off with a scrub brush. Be prepared to clean up after them. Finish: The finish looks great, they installed new drains and pump inlets which look great. There was a small fracture in the finish that we noticed and reported to the foreman and this has gone un-repaired. The pool finish is wavy in sections, but doesn't detract from the overall finish. Fill: We were told that we needed to make sure that after the pool was filled that we needed our pool tech to come out as soon as possible to balance the chemicals, we paid for a special service off hours for this to be done. Several days later a representative from CDC knocked on our door and said he was there to balance the chemicals. We advised him that this was already done and he was surprised that our foreman/salesman didn't advise that CDC would be doing this. Bottom Line: Stay away from CDC Pools. The finished product looks good, apart from the chipped tile and crack in their new finish, but the hassle and headaches to stay on top of them is to much. We wished we would have paid more for a company that can manage their resources effectively to complete the project in a timely manner. I believe they are way over their heads with the amount of work they have in the pipeline. Also, be prepared to clean up after their installers and possibly replace some stained pavers and touch up some paint. No-one has reached out to us to resolve our issues. read more

Only giving this star because I have to in order to leave a review. This is the worst pool company ever. From the beginning till the end. Sales people, foreman, managers, schedulers. Every person in the business is horrible. They only care about the money. Long story short. A job that was suppose to take 3-4 weeks tops took almost 6 months. With mistakes that were done being THEIR fault( which they by no means expedited the mistake to be fixed) to them not reimbursing us money on water that we had to pay to refill our pool again from THEIR mistake. They contract people out to do the work and left our yard a mess. Which when the manager came to finally follow up to make sure work was done right(second time mind you) he made the comment on how they left our yard and assured us that someone would be out to clean it up in the following week. Lol! That was May of 2019. Never showed up. I have contacted them with bills of water and other things that were owed to us and never heard from them. I've sent this info to the company three times and finally ga e up. Now when ever I can, I let anyone who ask about pool companies our experience. I let them know to NEVER use CDC pools for their remodel. They are the worst. I will also continue to tell my story as to try and save anyone from this horrible business. read more

Regardless, all of this could have been tempered with better communication not only up front but throughout the entire project timeline. CDC Pools provided great work at a reasonable cost. I am glad we picked them. Plus the glow in the dark shells are awesome. They were very responsive and communicative through the process. The only point I wanted to make is they were not very sure what time the crews were coming. They would call and let me know work was scheduled for the next day but could not give me a time. I have a dog and needed to lock him in the house while they here so it was difficult to plan my day. Also note that the demo they have at their office is shallow and the actual color of any pebble will show more blue the deeper your pool is. We got the Gray mini-pebble and the color of our 6 foot pool is a beautiful darker blue. amazing!!! read more

Justin, I have my credit card transaction history, the initial deposit was charged on 9/10 and the final payment/ charge was 9/13. The appointment for the work to be completed was 9/14. However after a "no show" we called and fired your company an demanded a full refund. Yes, we were told a full refund was made, but to this day we have no confirmation of that and no one from CDC will return our calls/email. Just want to relieve the stress for others before they spend almost 6 grand and have to put the process on hold before trusting/spending that much money while they wait for CDC to do as they stated. read more

The finish I got was nowhere as nice as the demo at their office, it was even the same color. I had the resurface done in 2011, they did a horrible job in the spa, closing most of the air holes. Someone cane to fix and it just looks terrible! Eneven surface and deep indentations where the holes are. Plus the finish cracked 5 years ago, they drained and repaired, but now that repair section has a large hole and there is a crack along the wall about 5ft long. Warranty expired less than a month ago ( of course! ) so basically too bad too sad. I do not recommend and if anyone asks I say DO NOT USES CDC POOLS! I signed a contract with CDC pools in April to remodel my 16 year old pool. (remove white plaster and replace it with pebble tech & replace tile). The price was very competitive. I was STUNNED at how smoothly the process went. My pool was drained on June 7, chip out a couple of days later, new tile the next day and clean out shortly thereafter, then acid wash and next day (as I remember) was PEBBLE TECH! The whole process from draining the water & chemicals back in the pool on 7/6 - 29 days!!!! ALL of the people who were involved with this project were fabulous to work with- from Jerry Herzog, sales; Adam Rossetti, Supervisor; Vicki Gurule, Billing plus all of the office staff, all of the men working at the site enduring very hot days; Jesse who was here without haste to acid clean a few spots on steps . CDC did an excellent job with our pool remodel! Jerry was outstanding to work with, and was very helpful and responsive during the planning and construction. We did a complete resurface of the pool/spa, new waterline tile, new 1" tiles on all the steps and benches, new LED lights, salt water conversion, new variable speed pump, and a fully automated wireless remote control system to control every aspect of the pool/spa/waterfall. I have to say, the new automation is my favorite, because now I can be out having dinner with my wife at a restaurant and I can use my iPhone to start heating up the hot tub so it's ready by the time we get home. Fantastic! And their pricing was very competitive on every aspect of the project. Definitely the best pool company in the valley! read more

I just had my pool remodeled by CDC and will say all the work crews were very nice & easy to work with. My remodel was close to $10K. Through the entire job the Mgmt. Communication STUNK, not timely, very little details and most of the time it seemed like they couldn't be bothered with a simple phone call. Telling me the next crew would arrive between 8am & 3pm....doesn't cut it and when the crew actually arrived at 6:30am. I waited 2 weeks for them to finish installing my LED light. I originally planned a travertine deck install for another $16K and there is NO WAY they will see more of my business after the pool job. Good communication is a big part of Service and they failed Big Time. read more

CDC pools did a great job on the pool resurface. We used the micro pebble. It looks beautiful and none of our existing tile was damaged during the chip out. However, the communication could be improved. The project did not start on time and no one called to tell us they weren't coming on the stated start date. After the resurface was finished and the pool was filled, one of the guys came out to balance the chemicals and turned the water on again while we weren't home causing the pool to almost overfill. If I didn't check the backyard when I got home from work it would have. I would have appreciated someone letting me know they were going to leave the water on. Overall I would recommend CDC pools because they did a great job on the pool itself. Hopefully, they work on their communication. read more

What a scam of a "business". These guys are the most unreliable company I have ever dealt with. I might as well just make a list. -I was told 2-3 weeks. Took 7 weeks. -I was sold on a white pebble, was given gray. Of course the salesman blamed it on ya and threw in his tough "contract" talk. -there was NO communication between the superintendent, the office, or anyone else for that matter. They wouldn't respond to calls, emails, or texts. -they removed my old spa, but left it sitting on my grass for over a week (without my permission or knowledge), killing my grass. -after adding a Baja step, they left a huge bag of cement in my front yard (without my permission or knowledge) damaging the landscape. -the superintendent sold us on different lights than our original choosing, only to find out his pricing was way less than what the salesman advised. -They would tell me I was the first job and be there in the am, show up around 3 or later. Sometimes vice Versa The outcome of the pool is great. But I would never recommend this company to get your pool remodeled. Not even to my worst enemy. read more
