After getting my oil changed at a Take 5 in Sugar Land, I made the hyperspace jump down to Corpus Christi to visit family. Just as I was about to cross the new bridge from Portland, I started hearing a strange hum, like the Millennium Falcon trying to jump to lightspeed with a bad motivator. Once I landed at my sister's house, there it was, a loud clack! Turns out, my skid plate had fallen and was hanging on by two brave little screws, holding on for dear life. Unsure of what to do, I rolled into the Take 5 on Saratoga; enter the heroes of this saga. These guys didn't just help; they went full Jedi Council on it. They diagnosed the problem faster than R2-D2 slicing into a Death Star terminal, realized they didn't have the screws, and sent me just down the street to O'Reilly's. Once I returned, they reinstalled the skid plate without hesitation, no charge, no hassle; just honor, skill, and kindness worthy of a Yoda nod. They didn't ask for credits, only to do what's right for the company and the customer. I was so blown away by their integrity and good spirit that I brought back drinks and snacks as a small token of appreciation. If there were a Rebel Alliance of honest mechanics, the Saratoga Take 5 crew would be leading it. When I questioned the price they told me that the parts I looked up (OEM parts) were "do it yourself parts". I told them I would never be back. It turned out my problem was a ground wire which cost me nothing to fix. Parts are parts. They tried to con because I a woman and elderly. But I'm not stupid. They might be ok for an oil change, but I wouldn't trust them for anything major- price gouging is one of their specialties.
