NF scope base and rings lapped and installed to proper inch pounds on Rem 700
    Jeff C.

I was looking online for a smith to properly install a scope base and lap the scope rings for my Remy 700. A few back and for chats on CG and we were able to work out a time for me to drop it off. Chaz had it done in less than 30 mins. Here I thought I'd have to leave it overnight. I'll post a picture. We did the customary shop talk. Chaz knows his stuff.

My Ruger Mark 3 that Chaz fixed after I jammed a magazine in backwards!
    Ronald D.

Well made a huge novice mistake and while reassembling my Ruger mark 3. I inserted the magazine in back-wards and did realize how much force I used. Well that jammed the magazine in place. This was on a Sat night around 10pm. I found Chaz's gunsmithing services here on yelp and since the reviews were good and he was really close to where I live and work I decided to give him a try. I called expecting an answering machine but Chaz answered the phone. I spoke with him about what happened and setup a time to drop off the gun the next day on Sunday. Met with Chaz and was impressed he was very knowledgeable and professional. I left not expecting a call for a few days. Well later that same day I got a call and he had already torn the gun down got the jammed magazine out. But since I jammed it in I also broke some internal parts which needed to be ordered and replaced. Chaz ordered up the parts and while we waited for those to arrive I decided to have him install new sights and a Houge grip. Probably took about 2 weeks to get the parts and install those along with the sights and grip. Because of the nature of the part that was broken internally Chaz took my gun to the range to test fire and make sure everything was working well! Chaz communicated to me on a regular basis by email and phone with updates on my gun and answered a lot of novice gun owner questions I had also. His rates are extremely fair and workmanship is fantastic. I would recommend him to anyone!!

Benelli after Chaz installed an optics rail/shell holder, shown empty.

I have a Colt Commander that I need a front sight install. It's needs a certain tool and most smiths do not have it. Are you able to help and what is cost?…

Hi Chris, yes i can install staked front sights on 1911s, usually runs $75 to $100 for labor.

I have a Ruger 9m and some ammo, I haven't used it in years. I am retiring soon and like to sell it, would he buy it?

Hello No, I do not buy, sell, or do transfers of firearms. Thank you

Any experience with the Ruger 10/22 Takedown rifle? I need aftermarket parts installed: iron sights, bolt, charging handle kit, extractor and firing pin and spring.

Yes, I have worked on many Ruger 10/22 rifles, both standard and takedown varieties.

Tyler is absolutely useless and has no idea what he's doing. I brought in a Mosin PU Sniper to be refinished and factory zero'd. Was quoted to take a month. 4 months later I ask what's up, they hadn't even started refninishing it. Finally get it back a month and a half later and Tyler did it completely wrong. He just indexed the scope turrets which I specifically said I didn't want. When I called him back to inquire why it was done wrong after 6 months, he gave me all sorts of attitude and said to bring it back. No explanation, just attitude. John said he'd take it over, since he's their dedicated ComBloc guy. 2 months later (after being promised a 1wk turnaround) they've still not touched it. Tyler refused to let John work on it, even though he knew he could. I requested a refund in-person during an office day for the scope zero since Tyler refused to do the work correctly or at all. Turns out, Tyler had left John in the shop with less than $50 in the register and was unreachable on the phone. Unreal how they botched a simple job. I'm sure if all you want is pinned mount or something you'll be fine, but DO NOT go here with anything of value or with any job beyond a pin/weld. Tyler if you read this, get your shit together. Hiding your business on Google to escape negative reviews is AWFUL optics.

My overall experience in all cases was a positive one. Pricing seems to be extremely competitive (only $65 for TiNi plating of a pistol barrel), and it is extremely obvious that the business cares about the satisfaction of the customers (if only this could be said about most other FFLs out there!). My main point of contact there has been Sam (friendly and professional at all times, without fail), but all the other owners/staff of the shop have been very cool guys to deal with as well. It should be noted that the shop is extremely small, and they have limited inventory (firearms and accessories) on display, but I believe they have quite a few goodies for sale in the back. They appear to specialize primarily in custom work and gunsmithing, but the firearms for sale that they do have on display are all nifty higher-end (e.g. Colt Python) and/or heavily customized pieces (e.g. Benelli M2 with cerakoting, fluted TiNi bolt, etc.). Whether you're looking to add a shade of individuality and flair to your cohetes, or are simply interested in enhancing their practical qualities, you owe it to yourself to make a trip to this shop. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

My experience with Central Texas Gunworks was honestly shocking…read more My girlfriend and I ordered a firearm that was originally quoted to arrive in about 10 days. Instead, the order took over six weeks to arrive. Frustrating, but we were patient and waited. When the firearm arrived, my girlfriend went to pick it up. The store advertises closing at 6:00 PM, and she arrived after work at 5:55 PM. The gun was paid for so this was simply a pickup. When she arrived, the employees were already outside sitting in their cars getting ready to leave. She politely asked if they could go inside and complete the pickup since it was still before closing. Instead of helping her, the employees laughed at each other and joked about whether they were going to do it, then told her to "just come back tomorrow." She explained she had rushed there after work and arrived before closing. They claimed the credit card machine was broken, which was irrelevant because the firearm was already paid for. The worst part about this, the store owner Michael, sat and listened. and never lifted his head from his lap. Despite arriving before the posted closing time, and after waiting six weeks for an order that was supposed to take ten days, they refused to help her and continued dismissing her request. She was laughed at and treated with complete disrespect. This wasn't just inconvenient, it was unprofessional and humiliating customer service. If your business advertises that it closes at 6:00 PM, customers should be able to expect service until 6:00 PM, not be turned away at 5:55 by employees who have already decided they're done for the day. After a six-week delay, the least a business could do is treat a customer with basic respect. I hope this is addressed because no paying customer should be treated this way.

Best thing to do is to call when delivery is made to make sure. I used this as a transfer once a while back and they don't have text or email updates when your transfer is ready which would have been nice. I also went here recently for just the TLC shooting qualification. The instructor Mike was really helpful walking through the process. For people that are less experienced in the range they will get taken care of and instruction if needed to keep the range safe. I did have to listen to an insurance sales pitch even though i did take the full class here. But that just seems like a norm these days.
