I called Chaz about working on my Benelli M4 after finding out that other gunsmiths would not touch it for a magazine replacement. When I brought it into the shop, he examined the shotgun and said no problem. A short time later, my baby had a new magazine. Chaz renovated my original 1873 Winchester I bought in an estate sale. I had no record with it so it might not have been fired in over 100 years. Not only did he fix the damage another gun smith in the bay area did by reassembling my Glock's slide release spring as part of a trigger upgrade, he showed me how to do the entire process should I need to do it. I found Chaz on Yelp and I must say it was a great experience. He is very knowledgeable about firearms and you can tell he has a lot of passion for his work. Now on to the firearm itself. I asked Chaz to remove this annoying auto safety feature on my Stoeger Condor. By annoying I mean that the safety would keep being set to on after the first shot. A close friend told me about Chaz after he worked on his shotgun. After some research I found that Chaz does gunsmithing for some of the more reputable gun stores here in the Bay Area as well as private projects After reading a few bad reviews I was a little concerned but I really needed a good gunsmith. I brought him my A.R.15 which had been malfunctioning. I tried a reputable gunsmith in Sunnyvale Who failed to fix my rifle so I wanted to try somebody new. It is now working like a charm and now have him working on a second project for me. A good mechanic is not cheap and gunsmithing is the same. His hourly rate is fair and I would trust him with any of my firearms and look forward to working with him in the future. He was a good find! read more

First off I want to start by saying I found this guy through yelp. I needed a rear sight installed on a gun and I wanted someone with experience to do it as there are a lot of parts that can be damaged or LOST. I called Chaz and let him know I was coming by to drop off the gun. When I arrived he greeted me inside of a garage and said the job should take about an hour or so. I decided to just run some errands and hang out around town. About an hour later, Chaz called me up and said he "lost the safety plunger and he can't find it online". I ask him if he looked for the one he lost and he then said " I have cats and if I don't find it within a few minutes it's gone". Ok, I said to him I would come over and help look for it and we would go from there. I arrived again at Chaz's house and he took me around the back where his so called "shop" was located. The part apparently flew out of his hand, hit the door, and ended up somewhere either in the room or outside in the yard. I understand mistakes happen, but the way he proceeded to handle the situation was unacceptable. So for the next 10 minutes we both looked around for the part and due to the condition of the shop, there was no way to find anything in there as it was a complete mess. Honestly, it wasn't even a real shop, it was a backyard house with a bed, desk, and a nice cat litter box placed conveniently right below the work area. I then told Chaz it was no big deal and he could order a new part on Monday from beretta and just install it when it arrived. He then told me to my suprise " I don't want to order it because will forget". To me this is ridiculous; the guy loses a part to my gun and he doesn't want to order a replacement part because he can't seem to write a "to do list". To me this would be my first priority if I lost or damaged someone's gun or property but apparently Chaz is too busy to order parts he lost on customers guns. I then just told Chaz I would take the gun home and order the part myself and finish the job myself. Chaz then say to me" how does $60.00 sound". I thought he was joking and I asked him if he was serious? He then started to get aggressive with me and said " I spent an hour on that gun and I don't work for free". I told Chaz, you didn't finish the job and you lost some parts for my gun. Chaz was also concerned the replacement parts were not even available and he had no way of getting them. The gun is now unusable and he expected me to pay for his sloppy, neglectful workmanship! What a compete joke. He became irate and started to yell. At this point I had enough and calmly walked myself out of his fathers yard and out to my car. Chaz then yelled some other nasty comments and slammed the gate; he yelled "have a nice life" at the top of his lungs as I was walking out. If anyone is considering going to this guy for gun repairs, please beware. This guy doesn't have a real shop, I don't think he has a business license, and he is a loose cannon with some serious anger problems. He lost parts to my gun because of inexperience and a dirty work environment, and he expected to get paid for his time. It's like me installing tires on a car and in the process loosing the wheel bearings and expecting the customer pay and order the replacement parts themselves. Chaz, you might have went to a gun smithing class but you have no business sence and it clearly shows. I have never been treated with such disrespect and incompetence with any business. I will look for the part myself that Chaz lost and if I can't find it, he will see me in small claims court to resolve this situation. read more

This is my go-to gunsmith from now on. I needed to have new trigger springs installed in my S&W revolver and before I could ask he offered to also polish the sear. Then with 60 rounds which I provided he took the gun to the range to test it. My pistol now has a much smoother, lighter trigger pull. He is knowledgeable, skilled, and fair priced. I brought my Ruger Mark II to Chaz to have a scope rail installed. Chaz made a mistake and not following Rugers detailed specifications he drilled a hole all the way into my barrel.I have asked Chaz to cover the cost of replacing the barrel which was done at Clark Custom in Louisiana. It cost $245 Plus $84 in Shipping. Chaz is not responding to my Emails. I hope he makes this right. , We all make mistakes , being an honourable man is taking care of those mistakes. So far no good. I have only asked for my exact costs , ASK to see his FFL Licence. if he does not have one and is raided you could lose your guns.Update 12/24/15 After a long and horrific experience with Chaz I sued him in small claims court and won. Save yourself the time and trouble and find a real gunsmith. read more

There are apparently two different Chaz's judging by his reviews which seem to be either 1 or 5 stars. When I first dropped my 9 mm 1911 off at his laundry room (which is where he meets his customers), he told me that he likes guns better than people. He certainly proved the latter in more ways than I thought were possible, but if he liked my gun it is not evident in the work he did. My gun works worse than it did when I dropped it off. The extractor now looks like a fish hook. He did offer to have another look at it, but I just decided to cut my losses and preserve what was left of my dignity. read more

Met Chaz virtually on Calguns.net. Thought I would take a gamble since he had a great write up on Yelp. I explained that I wanted to smooth out the action on my ss 640. We met, he told me the cost and I left it in his hands. He immediately went to work on it. He also sent me pictures of the gun during break down since he found some other imperfections and itemized other costs. I told him to go ahead with the repair. Less than a day had gone by when he texted me that the gun was ready!!! I was impressed. The gun was smoother and everything that was done to it was explained. Did not have a good experience using this service had chaz install a trigger it did not function 100% if kept getting caught when pulled and would make the grip safety stay depressed. Opened the gun up the parts that were installed had lapping compound all over them not cool and messy had to eventually put stock trigger back in defeated the whole purpose. Will not be going back ever again. This review is 100% real from a real customer i dont know why i have to prove anything to show its real like a pic of the receipt i was a paying customer that was not happy with the end result of these services and am informing other potential customers of an experience i had yours may be different. read more

Chaz is the real deal. You have to make an appointment and by the time I pulled up he was ready to take on my project. I have a Mossberg pump action that needed some cleaning and he projected a day or longer just in case there were some unforeseen issues inside. He said that he would get on top of it right away. I needed a trigger adjustment for my Glock 22 and he was able to diagnose the problem, present several solutions, implement a solution, and let me confirm it on the spot. After trying to remove a rear sight assembly off an old S&W revolver for cleaning, I thought I had messed up the rear sight elevation screw during disassembly. I became very hesitant to try removing the tiny front screw that anchors the rear sight assembly to the frame since it was frozen. After reading several good reviews on Calguns, I decided to call Chaz. I was able to get hold of him when I called. He was cordial when we spoke and still an enthusiast about the old and new firearms. He said he would take a look at it and give me an estimate if it was something he thought he could fix. After meeting Chaz I felt good about our conversation and thought he quoted me a good price, so I left it with him. After about a week I was able to pick it up, the parts delivery is what took the longest. He was able to save the rear sight but had to replace the front screw (5 dollar part) and returned all the broken parts. The workmanship was neat and clean; what I would expect from a gunsmith. I would recommend Chaz, he works from his home in RWC to keep his overhead low, and passes the savings to his customers. read more

I will be bringing whatever I can't do on my own to Chaz! I contacted him via FB about installing night sights on a RIA compact 1911, he responded promptly with an estimate. So I ordered the sights from Fusion Firearms, after a three week back order I finally received them. So I called Chaz on a Saturday to check his schedule, and he said bring it down, you might get it by the end of the day! So I did! I get my pistol down to him and open the case and asks for permission to hold my firearm. This is very respectful man and has earned mine with that simple gesture. After a quick look at it he said he wouldn't be able to have it by the end of the day because he ran out of the silver solder that he needed for the front sight. No problem for me. Tuesday night he shoots me a text that he needed to drill out the front sight and cut off the rear! I'm thinking that this is now going to cost me A LOT more than his original estimate. NOPE! Only $10 more! Wednesday morning get the text message that it's ready and I can pick it up! This is A man that I trust to work on my firearms, quality work at a reasonable price. read more
