We naturally gravitated towards this bar for their stiff drinks. Who wouldn't want a stiffy on a Friday night? The place is very casual with mid-30s, 40s to 50s 'mos. Not your S&M (i.e., Stand & Model) or twinkie bar, for that you have to hit Purr. There's no dancefloor, for that you go to Pony (tiny dance area) or...wait, what's with the animal sound or name for a bar! Is it a gay code? Went to their soft opening on June 4th. On first coming in I thought wow it is really unfinished for it looked kind of cool. But on further inspection walking around could see that in many ways they were finished for they had wrapped studs on the unfinished wood. Now I know this is a bear bar but it is a gay bar none the less and someone somewhere has a friend who knows something about design. This has got to be the ugliest bar I have ever been into over the last 40 years (seriously). And the high wattage lights above the bar did nothing to hide the facts It was very crowded that night so really did not stay real long. And honestly was glad it had re-opened for it is filling a need in our city. I as well know that things can and probably will change. But please guys get someone to help you finish and figure things out and make us all happy you re-opened. read more

If you are from out of town, or not a regular, don't bother. The staff does not make you feel welcome at all. The bar backs from my experience are the RUDEST "hosts" I've ever come across in a gay bar and as a flight attendant I visit many. When the words "yeah.....this is how we do it here," comes out of an employees mouth....SEE YA! Don't bother coming or spending money here. CC Attle's is very much a throwback to the time when there were gay neighborhoods and communities that gather around a bar. Which is a great thing, but unfortunately CC Attle's also carries on old gay traditions such as ageism and cruel, catty bartenders who let their disappointment with life/dissatisfaction and internalized homophobia bleed onto their customers. I have written few enough negative reviews to count on one hand, but these bartenders took assholery to a new level so I'm inspired. Having worked in the service industry, I always try to be friendly, respectful and tip well. So I had a few beers and was enjoying the night, getting to know some of the other patrons. I live in a city that doesn't have a centralized gay neighborhood, so it felt great to be there. When I first got there I was treated to listening to Brett or Brad the bartender complaining about the patrons. Kind of weird to be trash talking customers openly, but none of my business. I remained friendly and was not intoxicated at all. I went up to order another beer, when the two bartenders Brett(Brad) and some other douche began talking about me in front of me. They then made one of the cruelest, most ageist comments I have ever experienced and was obscene enough I don't feel comfortable repeating it in a review. I then went to order another beer saying "I'll have one more" , and Brett/Brad snipped "of course you will." Whatever that meant. It was extremely hurtful to be treated this way out of nowhere. We are living in times that are hard enough on marginalized people. This makes it extra painful that gay man can't even experience kindness and tolerance in a gay bar without having to endure cruel comments with no provocation. No one should be treated that way by a couple of pathetic, broken down failures of bartenders. Sad little creatures, sad little place. So if you are from out of town, I would go somewhere else, not a safe harbor at CC Attle's. Bummer, because I have been going to CC's in Portland and Puerto Vallarta for years. There is a phenomenon in the service industry in which the culture of a place becomes so toxic that they forget there is a reality outside that of the employees (like for example, the people paying them). If you are the owner, you should probably know that your staff's unhappiness is impacting the experience of your customers. read more

The best Fish & Chips I've had in Seattle! The batter and the cod were just right and crispy, not soggy like Fish Fry on Pike and the other nemesis Ivar's on 1st Ave. Their clam strips are out of this world too. Great price as well. For $8.50 you get 3 big pieces of fish, a heap of thick deliciously fresh fries, and a generous serving of coleslaw! I'll always come back here for my Fish & Chips. Staff and crowd were always friendly, food were always fresh, and the drinks are always stiff. What more do you want? I wish the Rose would serve more of their stuff like this. read more

You're not going to get a coke with a splash of whiskey at this bar, try a whiskey with a splash of coke. You can play pool, darts, or just take it easy. The french dip is my go to snack when I need to satisfy my hunger and don't want to leave the friendly atmosphere. NOT a great place to take straight friends for their first gay bar experience. Quickly becoming my favorite gay bar in Seattle. Upon returning to Seattle last month after being away for 2+ years, I was horrified when I happened upon the old location for CC's and found it torn to the ground, victim to yet another condo developer. The day was saved when I discovered that the business survived and was located about 3 blocks away from where I currently live! I really like the new digs -- especially all the windows and the openness inside the bar. They still serve food here, which is pretty decent, and if you read my reviews you'll know that I love love love to eat while I drink. Cocktail pours are strong, and the beer taps are actually quite good. They definitely prefer that you pay cash over using your credit card (although credit cards are allowed). Credit cards are strongly discouraged, and customers are warned by signs of "slow service" if you use a credit card. I went to this bar last night on a Tuesday and was shocked to find it so crowded -- it was "butts to nuts" as it was some sort of "3rd Tuesday" social hour. Not sure if this group always meets at this bar or if they change venues, but it was definitely fun. Nice crowd, great atmosphere, definitely set up to mingle and converse with your buddies. I hadn't been to Seattle for a few years and was looking forward to dinner and some beer here. Unfortunately, the food menu was rather disappointing and their excellent French Dip sandwich was no longer available. I ended up with an overdone hamburger, but at least the potato salad was tasty. I've always walked by this place going downtown and it seemed like a fun place so I checked it out last week. The first time, the place seemed like a typical bear bar which although I'm not one, I usually have fun in them. Unfortunately, no one was very friendly, including the bartenders. I was at the bar with a friend and waited 10 minutes before someone even acknowledged us even though I was trying to grab someone's attention. My friend and I ended up wanting to play some pool, which requires quarters. We didn't have any change so I had to exchange a dollar bill for quarters. The bartender looked like I had requested him to sing a song and juggle and BEGRUDGINGLY made change for me. I told a friend about my experience, and he said that he had similar experiences. Apparently, he forgot to close his tab, and when he went back to get it... no joke, the bartender threw him a dirty glare and complained that since it had already been closed, that he had to reopen it and close it again. I'm not sure if it was just his perception but it seems consistent with what I experienced. All in all, the service was NOT great, the atmosphere was NOT friendly, and the drinks were average. However, I will give it two stars because they do have pool tables and pinball tables. read more

I love CCs. As far as I remember. :) I love their onion rings and I especially love their Killer Kool-Aids. I can never taste the alcohol in them, but I know it's there. Chris is the master Kool-Aid maker. I used to go to the Wild Rose, but cleaned that drama out of my life recently. Now I prefer to go to CCs with my gays. Everybody is very welcoming. I guess I never came here before because I wasn't sure how a lesbian would be received. No worries at all! Parking can be a pain (but you really shouldn't be driving there anyway, right?). I've been here a number of times. The drinks ares super stiff and the prices represent that in a fair manner. The clientele is usually low-key and nice, and most of the bartenders are good at their job. Last night, though, a bartender stopped making my drinks to pour a shot for someone sitting at the bar. When he came back I told him I'm taking my business elsewhere, and I did. I'm writing this here because their website doesn't have a way to email/contact them and I don't trust that if I call it won't be the same bartender and the management would never know that they lost customer last night. BTW I've had this bartender before and his service is usually indifferent at best, but last night was just plain unprofessional. There too many choices for bars in Seattle for me to have to put up with that kind of nonsense. read more

Pretty nice bar! The layout is awesome at this place since you can easily have your space in different areas for different experiences. There are lots of TV's everywhere as well. The only bad thing is that if you want to play pool, it is situated a bit funny since you will end up excusing your self for space very often next to the wall. The service is pretty awesome, quick, straight forward, and always heavy on the pour. The prices are fantastic on opt of the fact that it is located right in Seattle. How do they do that?! This is one of the best bars I've been to, in Seattle. Very inclusive, and very nice people. I was visiting from Boston for a week on business, and I went on a Monday night. I had a great time here, met someone named Johnny with whom I had a great conversation. The barista was great, the drinks good (including non-alcoholic drinks) and the food was very good for the price. Absolutely will visit here when I go back to Seattle. When I compare this to bars in Boston (Club Cafe or Paradise, for example), Madison, WI (Plan B), and to other bars in Seattle, this one is one of the best I have been to. I met my future husband in the original CC's. We were here for my birthday. I like the new club and they've tried to preserve the feel of the old place. Definitely a great place to hang out and you can hear yourself speak, which is what I liked about the original CC's. The crowd was friendly and social and the bartenders were on top of it. Went here during a bachelorette party after seeing a show at Le Faux. We were on the hunt for karaoke. Unfortunately we didn't find it here, but it was a good place to stop on our jaunt around Capitol Hill. There was plenty of space for our 13 person group, which seemed pretty lucky if you ask me! Drinks were strong (and huge!) and the bartenders seemed friendly and didn't seem to mind our slightly rambunctious group. I thought the location was a little bit strange - the bar itself actually seemed to be an odd shape in the bottom of an apartment complex - but it worked okay. Overall this was a fine place to grab a drink. We didn't stay long, but we probably spent just the right amount of time here. read more

CC's is AGEIST!! Stopped in tonight and got carded. The guy said they card everyone. So I did a little experiement. Had a friend come down, he's 30 and very cute. He went in and passed WITHOUT REQUEST FOR ID. I tried again and was carded and denied entrance again because I walk and don't carry my DL. Yes, I'm older, and my friend is young and cute. So, it appears you get a pass if you're young and cute and if you're older they do what they can to keep you from coming in. That sucks. This is one of my favorite bars on Capital Hill. In my estimation, when compared to the other gay bars on the Hill, CCs pours the stiffest cocktail--believe me I've done my research here. The crowd is a mix of a little bit of everybody--CCs has a reputation for being a bear bar but from what I've observed it is a good mix of people. The staff and crowd is friendly. I've had strangers make polite conversation with me while waiting on a friend to join me--people who don't know each other chatting at a bar. How novel! They have a couple of pool tables and dart boards--the dartboards are the new electronic ones. If you want to grab a bite, they serve standard bar fare. My only suggestion would be to add an additional bar tender to the back bar on weekends because the line to get a drink can take awhile when they are busy. read more

I have visited this venue on multiple occasions and generally had good experiences. But this evening I was appalled by the rude behavior of one of the bartenders, who displayed a very mean and nasty streak. I was with two friends and there were two barstools close to one another and a third barstool a few feet away. When I attempted to move the third barstool closer to the other two (across a minor partition at the bar), this a-hat bartender said, "we don't allow moving furniture; you can't move that barstool." REALLY? What amazingly rude and customer-unfriendly behavior! Are you so f-ing lazy that you couldn't even imagine pushing a barstool back to its position six feet away to accommodate a customer buying drinks for three people? This place is good why haven't I discovered this sooner? Oh wait, yes I have but I've just been reluctant to go in because theres an older crowd. But when I went it there were a few young people and it was a relaxing place. It wasn't that busy when I went there but I would imagine it can get pretty tight if it gets full. Luckily there's a an outside patio area which is good for summer. The bartender was really friendly and the drinks decently priced and cheap. The ravages of age have earned me a modicum of respec and I be representin the salt n peppa set. That's what I do for you lately. Although my face screams "needy powerbottom visiting from out of town", I was addressed as "Sir". Unlike most locals, only one of my grandparents hailed from a Scandinavian country. Plus, being from not here, my sunlight-exposed skin must have made me seem exotic. Friendly, clean, new place.Is that why I got free drinks, a stool (of the seat kind) was made available for me to sit on at the bar? And that drunk Twink with the thick Boston accent who looks like that cute but douchebag republican Ryan Paul or Rand something -- and who tried to claim he's innocent and from Ohio -- (you bitches all know him) and invited me to his apaahhtment? I liked this place. Got more smiles and eye contact than from any of my sundry boyfriends/whatevs in SF. When you want to excape that groping kid and his impossible, puppy dog eyes, there's a quieter area with tables and a view of the street where you can watch this marvelous substance called water, fall from the sky. Right outside, there's a gay telephone pole (trust me) with 2 coffee cans filled with sand nailed on it for smokers who don't want to flick their butts out into the ecosystem of Puget Sound. Brilliant. This bar is built on a hill that curves and the space reflects that. It is apparently a new location and I read online that some patrons are unhinged about it. Cry me a river. I used to have a bubble butt and danced at The Stud when it was on Folsom, pre-AIDS. Meanwhile, the largest and most crowded area is a few stairs up and behind the main entrance and seemed to have pool tables and pinball machines, and loads of locals doing their happy neighboring. read more

CC's is one of my very favorite hang-outs and I go there quite often. Lots of room for socializing or playing a game. People who hang there tend to be really friendly and welcoming. The drinks and food are reasonably priced and they have great bar food. And there's the staff. There is a person or two that isn't always friendly (who can always be friendly in a fast paced service job?) but most of the staff is great. Marcus is one of my favorite bartenders in this city. Mikey is always a sweetheart. And you've also got Toby and Bubba on security. Nice guys and always helpful. If you frequent CC's, the staff all remember your name after a little while too.
