First visit to Caytons was awesome. Parking and signage was tough to find, its at golf clubhouse - not actually at the ritz hotel Our service was outstanding. Appreciated their Covid-19 protocol. Seated us far enough away from others, and wore mask and gloves I had a beer made with prickly pear which was awesome, my wife had sparkling water which they had many choices. I'm vegetarian - usually making my choices few, but I had an "impossible burger" - which was amazing with sweet potato fries. They had a great kids meal selection for my 2 year old, and my wife had ribs which she said we delicious. This isnt a cheap place to dine, but for the price - the value is amazing. May 2021. Had reservations 11:45 for 5. Upon arrival no one was at the front and stood in between where the check-in was and the dining room. After waiting a while went into the dining room to try to get seated. Someone must have not shown up for work? and no one knew how to open the computer for reservations. They had given away our table and finally set a table for us to be seated. Had a wonderful server the food was just okay. Upon leaving I went up to the front desk and asked if she wanted to see my reservation on my phone. She said oh no I saw your reservation on the computer. She never expressed any regret for the inconvenience. They need to train their staff. Do not plan on returning. Not a Ritz-Carlton experience. It pains me to write this review as I really liked this restaurant; however the last two times I have been here have been absolutely atrocious. We have been here many many times over the years and always enjoyed ourselves but something has definitely changed! The first time we had a bad experience was about 5 months ago. We arrived for our reservation and as soon as we sat down, a server dropped a tray of drinks right behind me which got me and my handbag wet with sticky alcoholic concoctions (barely an apology from anyone as I am mopping myself and my handbag dry). Unfortunately that was an omen to our upcoming experience for the rest of the night. At least 2 more trays of food and/or drinks were dropped over the next 2 1/2 hours we were there. Drinks took a minimum of 45 minutes to arrive for each round and we waited over 2 hours to get our food. I couldn't tell you if the food was good or not because at this point, we were starving and would have eaten anything. We were a bit hesitant to give it another try after the last disaster but when we were hungry and too lazy to cook a couple weeks ago and we live so close we can nearly hit it with a stone, we decided "what the heck". We regret that decision. We called and asked if there was any availability (Saturday night at 6:30pm) and we were told "Yes! Come in at 7:30 as we happen to have an opening". We arrive about 7:15 and I am not sure why we were told to wait an hour as there were only 2 tables with people at them. Quite shocking for a Saturday night during high season! We sit outside on the patio. We ordered a round of drinks and appetizers. The drinks were yummy and the appetizers were delicious. I ordered a side beet salad and it was great as always. My husband and son ordered the seafood pasta and you could smell a strong fishy odor as the server was walking out of the restaurant onto the patio about 25' away with their entrees! My husband didn't even take a bite of his dish. Not sure how the kitchen could serve this or how the server's eyes weren't watering as she carried it out - I would have been embarrassed if I were her. My daughter-in-law ordered a salad for her entrée that had butternut squash in it. I noticed her picking around her salad not really eating when I asked her how it was and she said "the butternut squash tastes funny, a strong vinegar-like taste" which means it was old. My veggie burger arrived and I soon realized that half the burger was hard as a rock and the other half was mushy. I did not eat my food either. When our server finally came back to the table, she didn't ask us how our meals were, clearly noticed we didn't eat our food and when she asked us if we wanted to take our leftovers home, we all replied "No." My husband hates to complain, he would rather pay the bill and never return to an establishment. If you are in no hurry, want to have a cocktail and watch a beautiful sunset from the magnificent patio overlooking the golf course - this is your place. Ritz Carlton - you should be embarrassed that this restaurant is part of your hotel! Clearly a change in management is needed immediately! This was a huge disappointment especially for the Ritz brand. Service was great. Appetizers were salsa and guacamole and chips 6 out 10. Nightly special was shaved prime rib sandwich and we were assured it topped the menu. Meat was overcooked and had a distinct "boxed" feel. Both of us had stomach upset. I was really excited to try this place for my boyfriends birthday but when I called to make a reservation the lady I talked to said they only allow hotel guests to Cayton's. On their website it clearly states that it's open to the public, if this is not the case they should really update their website. We are pretty bummed out since we love Core and never had an issue there. Update: I'm very happy we gave this place a shot after the experience we had. My s/o made a reservation online. Leon was our server (also our server at Core, such a sweetheart!!). Yes it's golf course/bar food, but done at a whole different level. We started with the green chile fries and artichoke dip. Both very good but our favorite was the dip. I ordered the 19th hole and my s/o ordered the home on the range. For drinks I had the lemon lavender margarita and he had the peach daly. We chose the Ritz Carlton for our most recent staycation over Memorial Day weekend. Due to the high volume of guests at the resort, they opened Cayton's up for dinner on a Sunday night. We had a pretty large group, so we played it safe and went with the restaurant that could accommodate us all, and they certainly did! Upon arrival we were directed to a private dining room. From a service stand point, I'd say it was a five-star experience. The staff was super friendly and extremely patient with our rowdy group. The food on the other hand was A-Ok. Cayton's menu lists over ten different gourmet burgers, salads, sandwiches and even adult shakes, including one called THE DUDE. That alone might we be worth an additional star. Menu items come with catchy names like "Home on the range" (a buffalo burger), the Belushi and the No Substitutions ( a quarter pound burger with three cheeses, pancetta, bacon and a bunch more). Burgers are no more expensive than Zin Burger. I ordered the Home on the Range buffalo burger which was served with oaxaca cheese, guacamole, and cilantro mayo with a side of tater tots. I should've gone with the Belushi. The patty was bright red and definitely appeared undercooked for my taste, but considering it was a buffalo patty, which tends to be leaner, I'm guessing that was the intention of the kitchen. Several others in our group ordered the Jabroni which was loaded with two patties, pancetta, capicola, mozzarella and a few other items I can't recall. It was definitely a heavy choice! The hit of the night was definitely the DUDE shake. Since we were there at night we didn't get to catch the views of the golf course. The restaurant itself is certainly upscale. Since I don't golf, I don't imagine myself returning here for a meal anytime soon. It appeared as though the bathrooms also served as locker rooms for women, which were not very clean. Perhaps this was an oversight, given that they opened up on an off-night. Over all, Cayton's was a fun choice for our group. We were especially thankful for the shuttle to and and from the resort, otherwise we might have ended up on the 10th green...alone...in the dark. read more

We used to love going to Caytons , the atmosphere is great , the servers are great ( I don't feel it's their fault that the kitchen doesn't get the food ready faster). Now they have changed the menu, they took off the burgers and a lot of the sides, bbq pork sandwich and changed the fried chicken recipe (not for the better). We go to Cayton's at least once a Month! We live in the area and they accept reservations for either patio or inside! Very casual menu but also they have some very special select items! Had the fried chicken-oh my gosh! I hope they keep this on the menu! We sit on the patio no matter the season! Great heaters in the fall/winter and the sunsets are spectacular from their patio! Not a perfect experience, but close enough for five stars. I wouldn't come here all the time, but after my first visit to celebrate my fiance's birthday, I will come more frequently. We tried coming for lunch, and the security guard at the gate told us it was closed for a private event and suggested we return for an early dinner as the sunset views on the golf course are supposedly fantastic. So we made a reservation on Open Table, which we really didn't need because at 5 p.m. it wasn't busy. No matter. We were seated promptly and got to pick any table we liked. We elected to sit outside and it was very pleasant despite the chilly weather because they had several heat lamps. The view is pretty great. They have happy hour until 6 so we ordered some drinks and green chili fries. The fries could've been better; the green chili made them too soggy. They have good local beers on tap; I had a prickly pear wheat from Borderlands, which was $4.50. Nice, because that would normally be $8. Everyone in our four-top ordered burgers. I had a mushroom burger and also tried my fiance's cowboy (I think it was called). The cowboy burger had a lot going on, brisket on top of the burger, onion ring, and bbq sauce. The bbq sauce wasn't typical; I tasted raspberry and balsamic. It was good, but I thought the mushroom was better. The mixed green salad we ordered for the side was very good. The server brought out a free skillet cookie with ice cream for my honey's bday and sang, which was nice. Service was excellent, and I expect that from Ritz Carlton. The place is expensive, but I think the tab was probably around $130 for four people, who ordered four full meals, drinks, and an app. Not bad. I was expecting it to cost more considering it's on the resort. I'd definitely return, especially for happy hour, and it would be a good place to bring out-of-towners. read more

Last time I ate here they had a spinach and artichoke dip and a salmon burger on the menu that were delicious. I was really hoping to order both but neither were on the menu. I was a little disappointed but told my waiter, Gabe what I was looking for and he accommodated my request of switching the burger patty for a piece of salmon. It was delicious! Visited for lunch. Quiet relaxed atmosphere well decorated in a scenic location. Wait staff very polite and friendly. It's location commanded high prices with a limited menu. Soft drinks were $5 but with refills. I had the Cowboy burger at $20. It had a 8oz patty that was cooked to my liking along with somewhat soggy onion rings, chopped beef brisket, vinegar slaw and bbq sauce. The bun was an oversized brioche. Included was an ample serving of over salted french fries and a unsatisfactory pickle spear that had an off flavor. In my estimation the food did not live up to the price and venue. read more

Superb burgers and shakes One of the good options at Dove Valley. They had superb service and the interior is a blend of upscale-super comfortable. Burgers are their specialty. The Home on the Range was excellent. The French burger was very good, though the Brie was too bitter for my tastes. The kids loved their Mac 'n Cheese. As for the shakes, they were magnificent. We especially loved the Thin Mint, which we asked for with vanilla ice cream. Oreo and Plain were also yummers. Waddled out and took the shuttle back to the hotel all contented. Loved their burger! I ordered the BS2 which is the burger, shake & side special. I had the shrooming bleu burger with sweet potato fries & their naughty&nice (vanilla ice cream with oreos) shake! The portions were big so it was definitely worth what you paid for. The burger was juicy, you could select the type of bun you preferred- white, wheat, gluten free, or lettuce wrap! I went during lunch, we were seated immediately because the restaurant was not busy at all. We sat outside on the patio since it was a beautiful day and you overlook the golf course. The only downside of lunch were the flies...if you sit outside, all i can say is beware of the flies!!! We've been regular customers of Caytons over the last 8 years and I was extremely disappointed this trip. We wanted a nice lunch with a good local beer. First off the waiter told us they did not have any of the beers listed on the menu. Bad start! Then we were surprised at how much they had paired back the menu. They used to have great burgers and sandwiches but the dirty bird sandwich should have been called " the dessicated bird". So dry. Please bring back the old menu!! Very much enjoyed this meal. The restaurant is nice and spacious, great views and on golf course. The appetizers were good, not great. We got the pull-away rolls which were very nice when they came out warm. The spinach artichoke dip was also good, a little different than you get at most places. The burger was excellent. I built my own with pretzel bun, bacon, onions and mushrooms. The fries and the onion rings were terrific. The cookie skillet was a very nice ending, great cookie. It was my birthday and the server took a Polaroid and gave it to us in a nice card- it was a nice touch! read more

Situated next to the Ritz Carlton golf course this place serves up a good burger and milkshake. They aren't shy with their prices-but hey it's the Ritz. The staff is super attentive and falls over backwards for you. And I must say they make a mean milkshake that is absolutely delicious. My vice is to try the Buffalo hamburger-lean and tasty. It's worth a few extra bucks. And the mac & cheese is a great deal. read more

Been to Cayton's a few times before covid and always found it good with a nice choice of burgers and other items in a pretty setting with great service. Times have changed. Menu completely different and very limited with not much that appealed to any of us. Only one burger on the menu now, which I ordered. That burger was less than mediocre, it was awful. I've had better burgers at Chili's, much better and at a fraction of the price with better service. Some of the others ordered burgers too and requested a different cheese, which seemed like a huge ask of the waiter. Apparently, any small deviation from the standard menu seemed to be an issue. When the other burgers came the requested cheese was grated in a dish on the side. So, when you pay $32 for a burger and fries you must put your own unmelted cheese on the burger. Burger was bland, boring, and just not at all memorable. Others in our party that had different items were equally unhappy with their food. Wrong orders, overcooked vegetables, etc. And the service, well....not good. Server was disinterested, not attentive or accommodating, lacked any knowledge of the food or drinks. Seemed like he would have preferred to be elsewhere. When I pay $106 for two burgers and two beers, including tip, I expect better, much better. Needless to say, we won't be back, ever. There is no way Ritz Carleton can make this right! read more

This was our second time here. We were here a year ago and had a great burger and really enjoyed the patio. We went back hoping for a similar experience. The patio was lovely as always, the waitstaff was attentive. The food was hit and miss. Between the 4 of us, 2 left satisfied and the other two not so much. We had a severely overcooked veggie burger that was sent back, a range avocado burger that was completely devoid of any flavor. The tortilla soup and mushroom burger were good. For the price for a burger I was hoping for more. Not sure I will go back for more than a beverage. read more

They aren't lying when they say the milkshakes here are to die for! We had the pleasure of dining here during a visit to the Ritz and I am very happy we did! This is a part of the country club portion of the Ritz, so it's along the golf course and a little drive from the hotel itself. They are known for their savory burgers and mouthwatering milkshakes. We dined on the patio as the sun was setting and the weather was just about perfect. It's such a serene environment and they do an excellent job of creating a similar ambiance in the restaurant. While sitting by the fireplace, we both ordered burgers. I went for more of a classic burger with cheese and avocado and then we split the fries. Typically, you think, well a burger is a burger anywhere you go and so I wasn't expecting anything much different. However, there is absolutely something different about this burger. It had the perfect flavor and was just the right amount of juicy inside the brioche bun. It was hard not to gobble up every bite! For dessert, we splurged with their famous milkshakes. They come out in a glass, along with the metal milkshake container with extra shake. I ordered the peanut butter chocolate and loved every minute of consumption. If you're in the area or staying at the Ritz, I highly encourage you to stop in for a visit. read more
