We've wanted to visit Cavola since hearing many positive reviews. We really enjoyed the experience on a beautiful day in Lititz. We started with the olives and white anchovy appetizers. Very tasty. We split the Prosciutto and arugula pizza. Very generous amount of prosciutto and a nice crispy crust. Nice beer and wine selection and efficient service. Went with a large group and these pizzas did not disappoint! We were able to taste most of the menu - Margherita, bolognese, eggplant, sweet pea, mushroom, Ferrari and all were super flavorful with perfect char on the crust. Pizza was good no doubt about that. Staff were friendly. $28 what I call a small pizza even with a ton of pepperoni I'd say is over priced. Grew up on new haven ct pizza and a large specialty whether clams or meatball and pepperoni was that is disappointing. Live in Lititz. Picked up a pepperoni pizza after the farmers market. Friends, The wait is over my fellow Pennsylvanians! Pizza, Good pizza, Affordable Pizza, Wood fired Pizza has arrived!!! Lots of buzz about Cavolo! (Italian Slang for Holy Smokes!) The buzz is good and so is the pizza. I grew up in Brooklyn in the 1970's and enjoyed Pizza made by the best. Anthony Pero from Totonno (He brought pizza to the states) This pizza is just as good! Thin crust, quality cheese, San Marzano sauce cooked in a wood fired oven (That have two of them!!) We had our food in like 6 minutes!!! I drove from Lancaster and there is one place in Lancaster for good pizza but they charge $17 for a pie that's smaller and not as tasty. Cavolo! is worth the drive. Also had their meatball appetizer, hand made meatballs clearly done in delicious sauce and ricotta also cooked in that wood fired oven. We had a fabulous lunch at Cavolo. It's a very nice new place, not that big, and no tables bigger than 4 tops. The service was fast and friendly and the food was great. The shrimp appetizer was so good and left us with garlic sauce to dip crust in. The salad was small but very good. The pizzas were all very good. Our favorite was the sunshine summer tomato white pizza. We also had the summer pizza and the margarita which they call a Maggie. All around excellent meal and at a reasonable price. Well, I've heard great things about Cavolo. I stopped by for the first time on a Tuesday night and saddled up to the bar. I waited a few minutes for the bartender to appear. One of the other customers at the bar said, "She's in back counting bottles; she'll be back in a minute." And I think, having been a bartender myself back in the day, no problem; I get it -- inventory. Five minutes go by, then ten. I finally up and leave. Will I be back, give this place another chance? Frankly, I don't know. You only get one chance to make a good first impression. We went opening weekend--vibes were great. Seating was tight, so we were seated at the bar in front of the kitchen, which made it feel like we were in an episode of The Bear. Staff looked stressed but the head chef clearly has high standards (though I respectfully disagree--my ficcocia didn't need more browning, thanks). Food came out slow and out of order. Salad was but drowned in dressing. The pizza? Absolute 10/10. Would love more vegan options. Great prices for the quality, and the menu hits a sweet spot--good variety without trying to do too much. Food was very good, experience not so much. Meatballs app arrived very quickly, sweeter marinara and great taste. We also ordered two pizzas which took very long to come out. Mine came out first and I was about 80% finished by the time they brought out my fiancé's. Apparently they burnt hers but didn't tell us until we asked. There was no adjustment to the bill which I would have expected. Additionally charge per fountain soda which I guess it says on the menu and I missed but feel like should have been mentioned by the waitress. Im in no rush to return despite good food. read more

This is the kinda place where when I walk in and sit, I inconspiciously eyeball plates around me. Behind me, two women ordered pizzas and were enjoying their meal. At gentleman at the bar ordered something that looked fabulous; I did summon up the courage to ask what it was and he literally gushed, cabbage salad - stating it's "SO good." Glancing at the menu; it's eclectic and a fun read, but a bit pricey. I'm a little embarassed to admit this, but our waiter asked us if we wanted still or sparkling water, I wondered - is "still" the same thing as tap water? This threw me off, along with the prices, eclectic ingredients - thinking the pizza was a little ta ta for me. I wanted ta ta - though, but my husband always wants pepperoni, so - pepperoni it was. We enjoyed our pizza, but it's rare to find a pizza we don't like. The pizza wasn't sliced in advance, which I didn't realize how helpful that is, especially when dealing with a very hot and messy, cheesy pizza. We would definitely go back again or at least I would and get the "ta ta pizza" that I missed out on. read more

I ordered a pizza online and added a prosciutto topping ($12 add) on it. When I arrived for pick up my pizza it was already in the box but a server was arranging the cold prosciutto in a separate box to go. I questioned why wasn't my prosciutto topping cooked on top of the pizza instead of a cold side. She said "oh that would be a special order". I didn't ask if they would serve cold pepperoni with my pizza if ordered a pepperoni topping. I wouldn't mind if a mistake was made but the server insisted that adding prosciutto be cooked on my pizza would require a "special order". I've never had that experience in any Italian or pizza restaurant in my life. Yet, she insisted serving the prosciutto topping should be served as a side to the hot pizza. As we walked into Cavolo on our trip to Lancaster, the open kitchen and bar and aesthetically pleasing decor greeted us and started off our great experience. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating for our needs. She made sure everything was safe for a nut allergy and brought us fresh sourdough bread with whipped ricotta very quickly. After enjoying the bread, we decided on which pizzas we would like to order and our waitress had no problem with our edits to pizzas on the menu. We decided to order an Italian soda and our waitress asked us if we wanted a sample of a flavor we were unsure about which was great. Along with the drinks, the iced tea tasted very fresh and real tea (not a lipton-like brand). Another worker came over and said there was a small imperfection in our pizzas and the chef didn't want to serve us anything without perfect quality. They boxed up the pizzas for us to have and made new ones quickly and they turned out delicious. It was also fun and nice to watch the chefs work with the pizza dough and see the large stone pizza ovens. Additionally, during the meal while deciding what to order, our waitress recommended her favorites which we ordered and loved. Overall, Cavolo was our best restaurant choice on our trip and made the night very fun for us and I strongly recommend going here. We would love to come again if we come back to Lititz or Lancaster. read more

I've been to this place a handful of times because, honestly, the pizza is really solid. When the food finally arrives, it's genuinely great--worth coming back for. That said, the service and especially the wait times are a real letdown. On multiple occasions, I've ordered a simple personal pizza (which runs about $20) and ended up waiting a full hour or more for it to come out. For that price and for a single small pie, an hour-long wait feels excessive, especially when the restaurant isn't slammed. The staff is polite enough, but the kitchen pacing just seems consistently off. read more

3 stars based on service, not food. Food was delicious. Went in Saturday for a date. No reservations, so got there early. Plenty of open tables. Asked for a table, was told we had to sit at the bar or the pizza bar. Tables were for parties of 4 or more. Adding to our frustration was the table behind us was a table of 1 while he waited for his other 3 to show up. We managed to order, converse, eat, drink, and left before his party arrived. It is disheartening to know a company does not value your patronage as much as they value the patronage of other parties based on group size or dollars possible. read more

Great new pizza spot serving New Haven/New York style pizza. Had the very tasty and my favorite, the Ferrari, which was recommended by a friend, and comparable to the Sweet and Salami we had in New Haven. Also had the more traditional Roni, the 5 Formagio and the Capriccosia. (there were six of us eating) All the pizzas had a great char and All were very good. Atmosphere was very nice with a variety of seating options. Service was very friendly and prompt. Will definitely be back and recommend you give it a try. read more

I didn't get to try the food so I am only reviewing the service. The way we were treated by the server was HORRENDOUS. There were only 3 other tables with customers in the restaurant yet we sat for 10 minutes without being greeted or drink orders being taken. We watched a couple come in and sit at the bar 10 minutes after us and have their order taken. I went to ask the front about it and they apologized and went to get our server. Rather than coming over to apologize the server went to the other two tables to check on them, went back behind the register and then proceeded to come to our table, clearly annoyed, no apology, rather with an attitude that we were an inconvenience to him. I said "that was 15 minutes" to which he said "what? Do you want to eat here?". I told him we were not going to be served by him and that we were leaving but I wanted to see a manager first. He proceeded to say there were no managers on duty and I needed to come back tomorrow. I went to the front and asked another employee for the manager, to which they went and got the manager on duty. The hostile server than took a picture of me. The manager came out, and heard me out. He made a comment that he "hears my side of the story". He didn't apologize for how we were treated until I pointed out that he hadn't apologized for the service we received. The response from the manager was subdued and it was hard to feel that it was genuine rather than placating. The manager saw us off with a "I hope you will give us another try". In the end, being ignored for 15 minutes wasn't that bad compared to how we were treated by the server. read more

Cavolo is our families new favorite spot in town. Our servers, Delaney and Ray, were phenomenal--friendly, knowledgeable, and very passionate about the menu. They knew exactly how to guide us through the best pairings for an unforgettable meal. The food was outstanding--each bite of the pizza was bursting with rich, vibrant flavor. And don't skip dessert--the affogato (espresso poured over ice cream) is the perfect finish. We have already been back twice in one week! read more

Over all wasn't impressed with the whole experience. Ordered an appetizer which came out after we got started on the course meal. Which defeats the whole purpose of an appetizer. Food was ok. Wasn't anything special. I would give the pizza a good 6 out of 10 wasn't that flavorful. At last to top off the experience when I paid in cash they came back with my change they told me they don't give any coin change back they round UP your bill to the nearest dollar amount.
