Needed some flips and was the perfect spot. Dude working was very kind and helpful. Much better to support the little shop instead the monster ones. read more

Got two great local long sleeve shirts BOGO free! Cool place ! 85 characters required to post!

Great surf shop - lots of merchandise with better prices than a lot of other shoos. Very helpful staff.

Small shop with friendly owners and staff. Cute spot to get an OBX tshirt or hoodie. They have a small amount of other merch such as beach shoes, bathing suits, surfing stuff, typical beachy jewelry, stickers and magnets - everything's reasonably priced. My hubby loves their store logo tshirts so we always return whenever in OBX to get the new season version and color!! read more

I left my fins at home, what do I do? I call up every surf shop in the outer banks to see if they have any that would fit. None of them do. Until I call the last shop near me. Cavalier. The couple that ran the shop were extremely nice. Would totally recommend this cute little shop to everyone. The amount of stock they have is crazy! read more

Good Vibes flow at this family run surf shop. They have what you need from t-shirts to wetsuits from bathing suits to flip flops. Did your leash break? Go get a new one at Cavalier. Did you forget the beach umbrella, don't worry, go to Cavalier. You can rent a chair, an umbrella, a beach cart or a bike. They have it all without the big surf shop hassles or inflated costs. Stay local, shop with the locals. Ask for Ken! read more

After spending a week in Hatteras with my family, my two teenage boys said that they wanted to go to an "authentic" surf shop, not a touristy souvenir store like a Wings. As we headed north on route 12, we noticed a random sign that read "surf shop" and decided to turn around and check it out. Cavalier's is the real deal folks. We were greated by the nicest folk and treated to a one of a kind surf shop experience. Great selection of authentic one-of-a-kind brand apparel and merchandise. The owner was eager to show pictures of the shop from the 60's and 70's, and tell the stories of flooding and restoration. They even offered some great local dining recommendations based on my appetite. Great people and great experience. You have to check it out if your in the Nags Head area! read more

Cavalier Surf Shop - Surf Shop Near Me - Nags Head, North Carolina

I wanted a new hoodie before I went back home, and we showed up and the power was out in the entire store but the man and lady let us shop anyway! He allowed us to pay cash and look at anything in the store. Such sweet people, and a perfect store. It has y shirts and hoodies with cavalier surf shop on it and brands like rip curl, etc. it also has so many good stickers. I will definitely be coming back here next time. read more

Building is very dirty and not maintained. Appearance also shows how you care and value your customers. "Dirty on the outside, dirty on the inside." We found the employees to be very rude. I would prefer spending my money at a store that appreciates your business and knows who puts food on their table. Try not to catch something on the way in... read more

Why go here and pay full price for junk when you can go to Wings and pay half price for junk. The staff acted as if we were in their way, and didn't want to wait on us. If you don't want to wait on tourist don't open up a surf shop in a tourist town. The manager was more worried about people walking across the street into an abandoned house beach entry. While I was checking out he rushed out the door to tell a family to not cut across the dunes. So I guess his job title is manager by day, batman by night. Thank that man for his service! read more

This is a great business with good quality clothing and surf wear. The owners were very friendly and helpful and prices were quite reasonable. The other main reason I like the shirts are the quality of material. Good thick cotton t-shirts. read more

Let's face it, no one thinks, "Ooo, honey, let's go to the Outer Banks for a surf trip." Ok, no body from the West Coast at least. But sometimes the closest thing to a surfable ocean from DC is in fact mid-summer fun at Nags Head... and thankfully for me and my entourage, there was Cavalier Surf Shop to the rescue. I have to give respect where respect is due: Cavalier really is an old skool surf shop. A small shack across the street from the water, Cavalier had everything I needed to cure my mid-Atlantic surfing blues. For such a tiny shack, they sure do pack it in... loads of gear, new and used boards, t shirts and wax. My girl friend and I rented a 9 and 10'0" for $20 bucks each a day and unlike the other shops we checked out, Cavalier was renting the epoxy pop out Bic boards which I consider a much better rental over the foamie Doyle's. No shortage of groms to provide suggestions on where to paddle out... "I'm not working tomorrow so if you want to surf just call the shop"... in what I imagine is the closest thing to Aloha on the Banks. Having grown up a surf shop rat myself, I have to say Cavalier sure does it right on the right coast. read more

I had the pleasure of meeting the family who own this shop. It's a small shop but they are stocked with everything you might need in terms of surf gear while in OBX. Will definitely come back be my go to surf shop next time I am in the area. read more

Cavalier Surf Shop - Surfs up! Gear up! - Surf Shop Near Me - Nags Head, North Carolina

Excellent experience, highly recommended. We went there right before the shop closed and it was a great experience for my family. We met the mother, father and son running the business and they never rushed us even though they were closing. The son helped us pick out boogie boards for my kids and even installed the leash since we didn't have tools with us to do it ourselves. We looked at a few other places and he was by far the most knowledgeable about them. Our family had a really good conversation with the entire family, even talking cars with the father who is a real car guy. One of the best experiences we have had on our vacation down here over the past few years. read more

Friendly family run surf shop, great selection, helpful service, and clean business. Been a local surf spot for years that you can rely on for great service. read more

Pleasantly surprised by this small business of 34 years. We rented bikes ($15 each for 24hrs) and bought a souvenir T-shirt. The owners seem to be a husband/wife team who are very involved with the day to day operations of their shop. We shared friendly conversation with them-true hospitality which we don't always experience. If you are looking for a genuine OBX small business to support, visit Cavalier! read more

Super-friendly family run business! They know their product and treat everyone like an old friend or long-time customer. It is right on the beach road and stocked with boards and footwear. Great spot! read more

A Real Surf shop -- and a Real, Rare Gem! I was surf shopping today for stickers for my grown son who has been collecting for 25+ years. Best assortment of stickers ever! The rest of the store was also packed with Everything you'd ever need or want in a great surf shop. Family owned. Mom and son were very knowledgeable about stickers and I bought about 25. Well worth it and excellent prices. You can tell this place has real experience and has been around a long time. It's one of the coolest shops I've ever visited. I live 6 hours away but after my son sees all the stickers I'm sure we'll be back soon so he can check out everything else in the store, too. Many thanks for your gracious help and time you spent with me on the stickers. We'll be back soon. read more

As authentic as it gets. Family owned and operated. Marty was polite and funny. We just moved here, think I just found my local surf shop.

Don't usually write reviews but this shop is great. Awesome selection of T-Shirts and gear but what really caught my attention was the staff. Jerry and the whole crew were absolutely amazing! Attentive and super friendly. Made us all feel like family. Definitely stop by Cavalier during your stay read more

Had a surf lesson here summer 2012 - instructor just floated in the water - did NOTHING - literally NOTHING. It was the weirdest experience I've ever had for a surf lesson - he said nothing, gave us no tips, advice or guidance - I'm not kidding - he did absolutely NOTHING. A completely awkward waste of time and money. WTF? read more

I've been here a few times with my family. The shop and owners are excellent! Such lovely people with excellent gear. However one of their employees, Jerry, was very rude to us when we were there. If it weren't for this person I'd definitely be giving a 5 star review. read more

Amazing owners! So helpful with everything and even went above and beyond helping us load up the boards.

What a great find in the Outer Banks! Last week my husband and kids took a much-anticipated vacation and came upon this little shop by complete surprise! Now, there are surf shops and souvenir shops everywhere down here, but this is like a little gem right on the beach road. It's nothing special to look at outside, no neon lights or huge signs, but inside is a whole lot of anything you need beach wise. This place has everything, and I do mean everything! There were surfboards, boogie boards, chairs, clothes, skateboards, wetsuits, etc. Yes, it's cramped and difficult to assess all there is to see, but Ryan and Austin catered to every single question we had and helped us narrow down our selection to fit each child, and the biggest kid of all (my husband). I can't get over the customer service! It's a family-run business, but they make you feel like you are part of theirs! I can't speak any fonder of my memories of the beach than my experience at this shop. read more
