Not your typical outlet mall...at least not anymore. The first thing you will notice is that this is on the smaller side, at least when it comes to outlet malls. You can tell that this was built for the area and took into consideration that this will not always be busy, especially during offseason. There aren't many options when it comes to variety. Mostly all the stores offer some type of clothing, aiming for the beach. Splash in some eateries, a shoe store, and high end souvenir shop, then you basically just formulated this place. Ample parking here, and I dare to say that there isn't a rush to come here. A lot of parking goes unused here as there really isn't much to make you want to come here. Great little outlet place to kill some time when it's hot or when you need a break from the beach. Lots of the usual stores here (Gap, Aerie, Vera Bradley, LOFT), but I have to highlight a local, small business, The Salty Seahorse. She is all the way on one end, so don't miss this spot. Lot's of cute items and local art to purchase and she was so sweet and helpful. Go support her and pick up something amazing. I love Eddie Bauer and loft so decided to go to the outlet when the nor'easter was hanging out beating up the beaches. This isn't a huge outlet but it has good brands like The Gap, Loft, Lilly Pulitzer and Eddie Bauer. There's signage up saying J Cree is coming in 2026. There are a few local stores mixed in too. We had great luck at Nags Head Outlet yesterday! Many stores had their summer sales going on and every store we purchased from had very friendly employees at their check out. Some stores even offer a student discount if you show your college ID, which was an added perk! Great little shopping area to kill time. read more

Given that it is the Outer Banks, I'd say it's an alright mall strip. There are handful of stores but not many to choose from. Giving it four stars for the friendly staff that we encountered while entering the stores. The location was clean and bathrooms were well maintained. First off it's the Outer Banks, so give them a break. It's not huge, but it's something and it's actually pretty nice with known stores. I've been coming for years. The Outlets at Nags Head is approximately Mile Marker 15. Access is easy as there are three entry points. The center has a signal light. The surface lot is typically large enough to accommodate guest and it's close to the building, The strip is one long connected building with a covered sidewalk and they do offer restrooms, but no food. The structure is 30+ years old, but it's well maintained. I most often shop at Edie Bauer, Polo or American Eagle. However there are over 30 stores and is managed by the TORG group. I would recommend, especially if vacationing and it's a rainy day running you off the beach. read more

We've done several trips to the OBX area and until now I've managed to avoid coming here. Now am I saying that because I feel this place has bad stores, bad deals or that it offers a bad experience? None of the above. I'm predisposed to never giving anything shopping related anything better than three stars since I would rather use my cat's litter box for all future toilet time activities the rest of my life than go shopping in general let alone outlet shopping with their fake "deals". This trip we were staying at a house only a few minutes away so I got roped into driving some others here and got to pop into a few stores while I prayed for deliverance from the sins that made me be subjected to coming here. We started off all the way at the southside beginning at The Gap and made it up to somewhere around Aerie before I decreed to my kids and wife that the tap was cut off and this excursion into eating Ramen for the next six months was over. They got some stuff at Aerie and at American Eagle. The Old Lady found a decent stuff at Sperry where it was buy two clearance items to get one free. I mean three pairs of shoes for under $60 isn't bad, I guess. Overall the procedure took about 90 minutes and then thankfully I was able to slither back to the car and to the comfort of the beach house. It certainly beats not having this area here and with how things are so hit and miss in the offseason, it is nice that there is a shopping option on the southern end that stays open year round (offseason hours are usually 10-6 with the one food place staying open until 8). Bottom Line: A small mediocre outlet center (formerly known as Tanger Outlets) at MP 16. Until recently, "Outlets Nags Head" was known as the Tanger Outlets. I suspect the revenue wasn't high enough for Tanger so they pulled out and the outlet center is now called Outlets Nags Head or maybe it was just renamed for other reasons. In any event, a new name was not accompanied by any improvements, in my opinion. Anyway, this is a small outlet mall. A single strip running along the west side of Hwy 158 with 20 or so retailers selling clothing, shoes, kitchen stuff, etc. There is one eatery (Tropical Smoothie Cafe) mid-center and restrooms are towards the southern end of the strip mall. Occasionally there is a hot dog cart too. A few vending machines are sprinkled along the corridor. A modern day developer would probably be wise to add a bathroom at the other end, include a family restroom, add at least one more place to grab a snack, include a charging station, etc. Some of the stores I like to visit at the outlet center are national chains like J. Crew and Banana Republic. The Loft is a new add for this season and Coach is noticeably missing . . . although I personally won't miss it. Two new local stores include the delightful Outer Banks Olive Oil Company and the run of the mill OBX clothing/souvenir store called Salt Coast Outfitters. During the summer months, tourists flock here when it rains so it's nice that the corridor is covered. I personally like to visit during the hottest part of the day when parking is plentiful and I want to avoid the scorching sun and hot sand. read more

We popped into the Nags Head outlets while staying in Rodanthe, about a 30 minute drive south. It was a chilly day on our beach vacation and outlet shopping sounded good to us. This shopping plaza is definitely in a very central location. We arrived on a weekday around 11 AM, the outlets weren't TOO busy. This is one of the smaller outlet malls I have been to, but they have some good basics like Eddie Bauer, Gap, American Eagle, J Crew and Nautica. I was excited to learn that a Vera Bradley Outlet had been recently added. I like their throw blankets and small wallets, they almost always have a good deal going on. If you forget to pack particular footwear or clothing for your OBX vacation, this is a great place to stop to pick up a replacement item. This is a good OBX rainy day activity, but I bet it gets really busy in the summer. read more

Ok, so I came down to get away from the city...and there's nothing here to buy! And I don't think I'm overreacting, either. Almost all the good stores, like Coach and Wilson's leather, are gone. The Michael Kors and Polo store are thankfully still there. The nicer stores have been replaced by a dismal bookstore and some other off brand store. Visited during our vacation during a rainy evening and there was plenty of coverage while walking. We came down from up in North Jersey. The deals were excellent. I picked up a great set of Oakley sunglasses that were a bargain. We also picked up a beautiful bag from Michael Kors for my other half. Finally, in the leather shop, I stumbled across a motorcycle jacket that would have cost four times what they were charging if I bought it at home. Overall, we were pleased. Great deals, nice spot, clean, etc. Recommended for a rainy night or for a day you've gotten too much sun. read more

Certainly not outlet prices at most of the shops. Most everything is high dollar and not discounted in any way. Some of the shops were actually discounted like the Vera Bradley store; which has an enormous selection of prior patterns that are 60 to 80 percent off. The overall concept of the strip mall is nice and staff at all the shops were helpful and friendly. There is a Tropical Smoothie on site with a nice outdoor area to eat; but that's it. Don't go expecting to find deep discounts at all the shops or great bargains because the only place I found that was the Vera Bradley store. There is a bathroom in the middle where the outdoor seating is and parking was plentiful the day we went. read more

The staff at the Michael Kohrs outlet were incredible. Not pushy at all, and very helpful with sharing information about their products. Often at high end shops one feels like they are being preyed on by the sales folks, but not here. These people were just genuinely helpful. They explained to my husband , as this was his first time ever in this shop, how the products get registered . Knowing we had a long way to go to travel, and these were gifts, we were given a couple of extra bags to keep flat in the event the bags that held our gifts were damaged in the trunk. It's taking that extra minute to make him feel like he is the only one in the store at that moment. We appreciate good customer service, and these ladies did an excellent job! read more

This is for American Eagle in the outlet. Background: Saturday afternoon after lunch. The teenagers needed some new threads as they are growing like weeds. We knew the outlets offered some non-tourist clothing and AM is the Only store we visited on this outlet run. Pros: clean, clean, clean. The ladies who work their take pride in this shop. From top to bottom it was organized, neat, and professional. We were asked if we needed help 8 times in less than an hour. The staff is amazing at what they do and it made the shopping experience very pleasant. Fitting room service, process, and cleanliness were perfect. Check out was seamless. Cashier was super friendly Navy Mom who beamed with pride discussing her Sailor and pleasantries. Cons: some items had limited sizes available, we did not ask if they had more "in the back" because we assumed not as most outlet stores don't. The prices weren't discounted or a bargain. Bottom Line: A clean oasis of shopping for quality everyday clothing, an experience worth writing about. Great job to the amazing Staff. read more
